Watchman Campground

The natural beauty of Zion is breathtaking and if you're camping Watchman is a great starting point. If you love the outdoors this is a place you should visit. No reason to drive anywhere as the shuttle buses take you deep inside the park Hiking trails range from easy for everyone to vigorous for the hearty. Bike riding, e-bikes for rent. Simply amazing.

For reference, we stayed in spot B44 during mid January. It's an excellent RV pull through site with 30amp electric service and the Virgin River going by just 20 feet away. I'm actually writing this while we're still here, we leave tomorrow, checkout time is 11am. It's a nice campground and there's a good chance you'll see some wildlife. We woke up this morning to 5 deer grazing on some grass right across the river and then later we hiked the Watchman Trail, which took us 2 hours roundtrip, and saw 7 Bighorn Sheep. The campground has clean restrooms and there are dumpsters for trash within a short walk of most sites. Our site is directly across from a restroom and dumpster. And no, there is no odor from either. They're far enough away and well maintained. The visitor center is a short walk from our site, I would guess around 1/4 mile or so. They have tons of souvenirs and an information desk. There are also several popular hikes that start within the campground, get a park map when you first enter Zion Park. It will show where the hikes are located and what difficulty level they are. I highly recommend staying here.

Booked a 2 night stay on their Government app. I parked my car and set up shop. The picnic table was great to eat on and dry my wet clothes. The parking was enough for two vehicles. The floor grill was big enough to light a log for cold nights. Water access from an outdoor faucet to put out the fire wood. There were plenty of restrooms around the loops. Enough neighbors to feel safe when camping. Setting up my tent was easy. The walk to the park trams was a breeze. There is a beach access across loop B. I charged my phone using the provided electrical outlet in my parking station. Definitely worth the fees the park charges to stay for a couple of days. Thank you Zion!

We stayed 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. I thought it would seem more crowded. Even though the campground was full, there was plenty of room. There were some groups that came in late or didn't know what "quiet time" meant, but for the most part the people were considerate of others and friendly. The campsites are roomy and drain well. We had rain every day (Monsoon season) but didn't have any issue with puddles in the site. There are permanent fire rings and aluminum picnic tables. The restrooms have flush toilets and are clean. There is water at the restrooms as well as a sink that can be used to wash dishes (but not bodies or muddy gear). Check in/out was easy and the ranger was friendly. Camping in the park makes it nice as a base station in the park as you don't have to worry about parking. There are lots of deer that wander through the campsites and will eat any food left out or tear into trashbags that aren't secured. We saw this happen in a nearby campsite. The deer are not afraid of people but will attack if you threaten the fawns. We saw a group of 4 does and 4 fawns and another group with 2 does, a fawn, and a young 4 point buck, as well as many other deer throughout our stay. We had a lovely time. Verizon signal was decent. We were in sites D19 & D20 so there were no other sites behind us but the group site was close by (the noisy ones).

Spectacular sunrise and sunset. Undescribable virgin river right next to little town called Springdale. 20 dollars a night camp site. 30 dollars with electricity outlet. Fresh air. The best campbsite I have ever been. Clean restrooms with flush toilet.

First, this campground is beautiful. I loved waking up to the mountains everyday. There is a place to wash dishes and toilets that flush. Second, everything is well labeled with signs everywhere. Third, it is super close to the visitor center and the shuttles and my family walked over to the shuttkes in less than 5 minutes. And lastly, there is lots of wildlife. My kids loved seeing the lizards, quail, rock squirrels,, and deer in the campsite.

This is one of the best campgrounds we have visited. The facilities are great with flush toilets and sink for washing dishes. Lots of trees for shade and hammocks if you pick the right spot. It's also super relaxing if you are on the river side with the sounds of rushing water. The views are amazing with the surrounding mountains everywhere you look. And there are stairs down to the river which I imagine is fantastic to cool off in the summer. And if you are into astronomy the visitor center is a 10 minute walk and you can take pictures and view the night sky from the parking lot after 10:30pm when the parking lot lights turn off. Just make sure you have headlamps and know your way around because it can be disorienting finding your way back at night.

Excellent location. Sites were close, but not on top of each other. Very clean and fairly quiet. Loved being able to walk to the shuttles and to Springdale for shopping and food. The only thing this place needs is a shower house.

We stayed at Watchman Campground for one night on February 16, and overall, it was a great experience! We had a tent site, and despite the cold weather, we really enjoyed our stay. The camp host was super friendly, which made checking in and settling down a breeze. The campground was busy due to Presidents' Day weekend, but it still felt well-organized and well-maintained. One of the highlights was waking up early to watch the sun rise over the mountains--absolutely stunning and worth the chilly morning. The bathrooms were spacious and clean, which was a big plus. We also appreciated the dishwashing basin and the clean water pump, which made camping a little easier. The next morning, we packed up and headed straight into Zion National Park, which was incredibly convenient since the campground is right near the entrance. Overall, Watchman Campground is a fantastic place to stay if you're visiting Zion. It's well-kept, has great amenities for tent campers, and offers unbeatable views. Would definitely camp here again!

There are no showers, you have to use Zion Outfitters for showers. Zion Outfitters was not reliable with what time they stayed open, so do not wait until they close to shower. We made that mistake and had to skip one night. The campgrounds were very busy during the season we went and it was hard for them to keep the restrooms clean despite cleaning them every morning. The location is conveniently located in the park, the shuttle is walkable from these camping spots. Shuttle times can vary, some days there was no wait. One random Friday it was an hour long wait for the shuttle to and from the campground. It seemed like a lot of locals came in that particular day. Do not expect to have a fire in the summer. It's too hot and the fire warnings are in full swing. Will definitely be back, just more informed for the next trip.

Great campground, will definitely return. Restrooms are clean and were near by my reserved space but still too far when getting up in the middle of night. Had reserved Loop C space 21. Fits two cars and two 4 person tents. It's also next to the visitors center and restaurants, they are all short walking distance.

This is a great campground! It's located right after the entrance to the park. For reservations , they are made online six months in advance. You can always check the website to see if there are any cancellations. There is a section where it is first come first serve. If you have a lifetime senior pass use it when booking because you get a great discount. The shuttle is just a quick walk through the parking lot and visitor center. It is very convenient and comes every 10-15 minutes. We stayed in section "C". It was away from all of the car traffic. It was close enough to the bathrooms. The camp host is located just at the entrance of loop C The scenery was just amazing. At night you can see the Milky Way and every star. The wildlife is great too. There are deer, lots of squirrels,and rabbits

Great location. Walk to.Visitors Center and short walk to shops in Springdale. We ate at Zion Canyon Pub Brew. Food was okay but atmosphere was great.

Only campground currently open. Close to visitors center. Construction on nearby Parus trail limits where you can ride your bike. Site had trash and smelled of urine from folks pissing in nature. The front bathroom closest to the entry gate was dirty and hadn't been really cleaned well for a long time. Sort of sad. We recently stayed at the Grand Canyon Mather Campground which was super well taken care of. It can be done! A dirty bathroom breeds folks who don't care for the campground facilities. A clean bathroom shows you care and so we campers care. Update- guy next door has a swarm of bees. The ranger said he couldn't do anything and had no sites to move him to. BS there is an empty Host site.

The space of the lot I paid for was great, kids had a good time . Although I won't be going again anytime soon. It was a bit too crowded to explore any of the areas.

Great place to camp at watchman campground. You must reserve through https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campsites/382 But don't worry if you didn't get to reverse before you arrive. There is WiFi in this area, so you can reserve it here if there is space available. Since I'm here in the winter there was lots of space available today.

Perfect for our needs. We needed to be close to the trails and have electricity hook ups. Having dogs traveling with us, we felt at ease knowing they were within reach and cooled with our travel trailer air conditioner. Reservation wasn't easy so be on top of your game. These sites become unavailable quickly. The campground has electricity as I mentioned. For potable water and dump, you can't miss upon entering. It will be on your left. On a side note, reserving shuttle tickets to the trails are equally challenging to purchase as well. If you are left with time slot choices, the earlier the better. We reserved the 7 AM time slots to beat the traffic and so glad we did. The trails were much peaceful in the morning then heavily crowded as the day progresses. I appreciated the fact we could walk to the visitor center to catch our shuttle to the trails. Also, there were nearby gift shops, convenience stores, and a restaurant/pub just outside the park. I advise arriving not too early. We found that folks tend to leave on the dot to maximize their stay which is understandable. Check out is 11 AM. Manage your time unless you don't mind waiting. It's just a bit difficult when you have a trailer and need to park somewhere for a bit. We were lucky that the extended parking lot was empty that morning.

Amazing and beautiful! Had a spot to get fresh water and was only 10 minutes from the gates, although you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere! All the rangers were great and super helpful. Cant wait to go back!

I really liked this campground. I was in lot D. The campsite you get comes with a parking spot, picnic table and a campfire spot. Each part of the campground has bathrooms and sinks for you to use. The bathrooms were surprisingly very clean which I loved. I liked that each campsite had its own space. Being in site D was great because we had an amazing view. We also saw a lot deer as well. It was also a quick walk to the visitor center/shuttles. Recommend this campsite for privacy and a quick walk to the shuttle/visitor center. Only thing to note is that in July there are a lot of ants everywhere which was pretty annoying!

Fab campground. Right inside the gates of the park. Clean, safe, beautiful. Nice wide site for my 27' Airstream.

Absolutely stunning place . Truly enjoyed the scenic views .. the trails and how easy it was to navigate our way around. Will be coming back !

In the morning and evening, the mule deers hang out in the grass surrounding the campground. They don't fear the people or the noisy RV groups. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The campground is walking distance to the pedestrian entrance of Zion and Springdale. Zion Brewing is literally right there. The Visitor Center is a tad bit further where you can pick up the shuttle on the weekends to the hikes along the Zion Scenic Drive. Make sure to get your ticket ahead of time or jump on the app at exactly 5PM MT to get your $1 shuttle ticket. They DO turn away people trying to get on the shuttle without a ticket. Do an ebike rental if you can't get the shuttle. Decent Sprint LTE cell signal here.

If you want to wake up in Zion and not have to deal with finding parking or trying to get in this place is worth it. The visitor center is really close. Everyone in there was extremely helpful. The shuttles come every few minutes and drop you off at different locations inside the national park. It is a must that you check the website and confirm the shuttle times, because there are days that the shuttle does not run. Also, the other downside is that nobody answers the phone so it's very difficult to ask questions on the phone everything is online and that's a bit confusing. The other downside is that the showers are across the river. However for the price it's still worth it.

Watchman Campground is located in Zion National Park near Springdale, Utah. We chose this campground as it received good reviews and was half off the price with an Access Pass. Plus, it accommodates tents and RVs. We stayed here most recently for our anniversary in a camper trailer with our two toddlers and service dog. Our favorite part was probably walking down to the Virgin River and letting the kids splash around in the safe areas with a beautiful backdrop. There are electric hookups, but no water hookups. Just the dump station going back out of the grounds. Fire rings. Recycle bins. Springdale is nearby for supplies you may have forgotten. Cute shops in the area. Very quiet and dark at night. Even RVs all around. TIPS - Make reservations far in advance if possible. - Bumblebees abound here. Well, they did at our site. - Utility sinks. Mostly clean restrooms. No showers, though. Stay hydrated. It can get warm here. For example, on August 31, 2017 at around 6:45 a.m. it was 67°F. It was around 95°F the previous evening, yet, cooled down quickly. Pack it in, pack it out. Not really sure what there is to say that you can't tell from the photos aside from "great parking for the shuttle". Every single inch of the Campground has a great view. There is a general store, Zion outfitters (Waterproof gear rental for the narrows), a brewpub, showers, the river, Watchman Overlook Trail head, Py'rus Trail head, and gear/souvenire shop all with-in a 5 minute walk.

What a perfect campground right in the center of Zion National Park! I loved it! Campground highlights: - well maintained sites - clean restrooms (they were very warm, which was nice in the autumn!) that were stocked with toilet paper - plenty OF restrooms - fairly quiet - close to trails - near to the park shuttle stop I honestly can't imagine camping in a more perfect place. I walked by "South Campground" too, and honestly, either here at Watchman or South would have been perfect. We camped here in early November, so it was COLD at night (29). The fall colours were gorgeous -- I was able to capture a lot of fun fall photos. It was my first time in Zion... so happy to have had a camping experience here. I can't wait to come back! 2018: 85/100

Book in advance! We stayed 3 nights and booked months in advance but could not get the same spot so had to move early every morning so that was a bummer. However the bathrooms were nice and there is a washing station to wash dishes. There is also a single bathroom where you can change your babys diaper. The bathrooms towards the back of the campground are closed so that was also a bummer. Deer roam around and are very friendly so keep your food stored away. Each site is pretty big and comes with a fire pit and table. The location of the campground is perfect and there is a bus stop for the free shuttle across the street from the campsite! You cant buy firewood at the campsite you have to buy it in the town which is very close. There are no showers so you have to go into town to shower. The watchman overlook hike is near the campsite so that is very convenient and is a fun hike!

I stayed at the campground for 2 nights in November and had a great time! The views from most sites are absolutely incredible. When I visited, only loops A and B were open for my trailer. Loop A seemed very packed together, with many sites right on top of each other. There was limited foliage to provide privacy. Luckily, I stayed in the B loop, which did have some sites that didn't seem as private, but many that were. My site, B17, was large, mostly level, and had foliage insulating us from the neighbors. We were directly across from a group site, which had the potential to be loud, but luckily the occupants weren't night owls. Reservations are very hard to come by here, except if you're visiting December-February. Sites open up for booking 6 months in advance, and you have to be online the minute the sites open up or they will all be taken immediately. (The South campground books out just 2 weeks in advance, but it isn't nearly as nice.). Cancellations do happen, so if your date is booked up, keep checking and something might open up. Just a note, in April and May, Watchman is infested by some type of tent caterpillar and it is recommended that you visit during another time because of this. The location of the campground was convenient to the visitor center, shuttle stop, and a few trails. The walk along the river nearby was nice also, and I can imagine how nice it must feel to dip in there during hot weather! We heard a chorus of coyotes at night and saw many mule deer and various birds in the campground. Zion is one of my favorite parks, and it's so much nicer to stay in the park than deal with traffic and parking in Springdale. I'm sure I'll be back!

We camped at Watchman Campground over 4th of July. We stayed 3 nights in Loop C (tent only loop) Site 007. There were fire restrictions so no campfires allowed. We had a great view and were close to 2 bathrooms, that was nice as they alternated which bathrooms were open daily (due to Covid). This campground has no showers. We were told there are showers in Springdale at Zion Outfitters. I made reservations 6 months in advance. Spots go quickly.

Watchman Campground I absolutely LOVED this campground! Although each site doesn't have water, there is a main water fill station at the front of the campground, so it's really not a big deal. The ground was level at both of our campsites which was awesome. We stayed at B001 Loop B our first two nights, and we loved it! Close to the bathrooms, and extremely spacious. Close to the front so it was a short walk to the visitor center to get to the buses. We loved this site. Our last night we stayed at B056R Loop B, which had it's pros and cons. It's a much farther walk to the visitor center which was not the best, BUT it was right on the Virgin River, so we had direct "beach access." We loved that too! So both sites were great. Honestly, if you're thinking about staying in the park, do it. It enhances your park experience so much!

So, I probably won't ever camp in Zion again, because while I was prepared for the cold, I was *not* prepared for the 10+ mph winds all three nights, that kept me up horribly, so word of warning on that, not that it's the campsite's fault at all (in fact, the first evening, a ranger drove around to all the campsites and warned us about the winds, which was good, or we might not have tied down our tent as well, and it could've been even worse.) But apart from that, our campsite was pretty much perfect: surprisingly clean bathrooms nearby, clean, cold potable water, plenty of space, a parking space right next to the campsite, and a dedicated picnic table and firepit for each site. It was also a highly convenient ~5 minute walk from the campsite to the shuttle stop into the heart of Zion, and only a couple minute drive into town. And one added unexpected but very appreciated bonus: the campground also happened to be pretty much the only place in southern Utah that got Sprint reception, so I could even internet while I was camping! And yes, the view from the campground is also completely gorgeous, but really, anywhere in Zion is going to be gorgeous. So yeah. I would totally recommend staying here, I'd just be more careful about checking the whole weather (not just temperature), so you know what you're getting into before you arrive. We probably just got super unlucky there.

The Watchman Campground in Zion National Park is waaaaaay fancier than the previous campgrounds I've stayed at. The bathroom amenities are off the hook (light! HAND soap! hand dryer! 3 stalls with flushable toilets! heated!) and they have a separate huge utility sink to do dishes. AND! Cell phone reception!! No showers but no biggie - you are camping! Location is stellar because it is walking distance to the Visitor Center which makes it super easy to catch the free shuttle whenever you want to venture into the park (most days of the years - no private car access). You don't have to worry about fighting for a parking spot in the visitor center parking. We stayed in Loop C (site 17 & 18). Super close to the bathrooms but a little too close since you can hear the hand dryers going off all day and night. The campsites are pretty tiny and super close together so be sure to bring earplugs if you are looking to get any shut eye at all. There is barely enough space to park 2 cars (rules say 2 cars max anyways) so don't try to test that limit. 3 tents max. 1 picnic table and fire pit grill. Since the campground is located inside a canyon, you can actually sleep in a little before the sun hits your tent. If you are arriving at to the campgrounds in the dark, be sure to have google maps on since it is pitch black and a really quick turn into the campground once you pass the visitor's center. Zion is absolutely gorgeous and it is totally worth the stress of getting a campsite here at Watchman!

Watchman is a great campground but make sure to book in advance. I've had good luck getting reservations a week or two in advance by just regularly checking for cancellations. Extremely close to the entrance so you can walk to restaurants and equipment rental shops. I've stayed in both the A and D loops and have future plans in the C loop. Plus side to tent camping in the RV sites is an electrical outlet. Pros- Heated bathrooms that are clean. No showers. Very well maintained campsites. Walking distance to the shuttle at the visitor center. 5 minute walk to the Zion Brewery. I've found that Watchman is quieter than other campgrounds. That could be because if you are in the tent only areas there is less noise. Cons- Have stayed here twice and it was incredibly windy at night both trips. But not during the day. Your tent cover especially catches wind. This wasn't a big deal to me but if you're a light sleeper it could keep you up. Not a lot of shade in the sites. A little close to your neighbors

I go to Yosemite every summer for camping, and this place was a little upgrade from Yosemite pines campground, at least from the appearance. Pros: nice bathrooms, separate dish washing place, convenient location, clean and well kept. Cons: no lights in the bathroom at night! For whatever reason, they turn off the lights at night! It makes no sense at all. Also, I don't know if they're understaffed because of COVID-19, but they closed few bathrooms. We had to walk to farther bathrooms. But we still thought this was a good find and agreed that we want to try to come back next year, until the night rolled in. I read a few reviews about the wind totally judged those campers for not doing their HW and checking the weather before they left. It was 90+ degrees both days we were there. The wind kicked in around 12 midnight and lasted until 6:30, pounding and shaking our tents! It was the worst night's sleep I had in my life. All my family agreed that we are never coming back here to sleep. We'll just make a day trip from Las Vegas.

So beautiful! And so hot! Bring a source of shade! Our family camped at Watchman for 2 nights. The setting is STUNNING. The massive rock formations, colors and lighting Zion is famous for was in clear view from every campsite. We were in campsite D17. It was close to the bathroom but not in a bad way. We walked around and it seemed like every campsite was nice, with partial shade some parts of the day and great views. Can't go wrong! Pros: Views and natural beauty Proximity to visitor center (just a short walk) Right next to the Virgin River for wading in the water and playing in the sand Drinkable water available (at the RV fill and dump station) Proximity to a couple GORGEOUS hikes (Pa'Raus and Watchman) Clean Cons: It gets so hot!! The shade moves with the sun of course, so our campsite was broiling from around 2pm-6pm. We only had a small umbrella and it was unbearable, even on just an 88 degree day (we are from Southern California so we are no strangers to heat). We ended up hanging out by the river, which was much better Bathrooms were pretty clean, but toilet paper did run out a couple times in certain stalls The super fat squirrels ate through our tent to get to hotdog buns my husband left in there! It was our bad for leaving food out... and it was pretty funny. But we regret contributing to the fatness of the wildlife.

I think the only way to REALLY experience Utah is to camp. No, no hotels, no airbnbs, no "glamping". Straight up, in a tent or maybe an RV, on this campground. There are several campgrounds in the area since Zion is such a popular destination. I didn't get a chance to see the other locations but these grounds were wonderful! Reservations are hard to come by, especially around peak seasons like school breaks. If you know you want to come visit, make sure you make a reservation ASAP! Once you drive up to the info booth, show them your reservation info or give them your name so they can pull it up. On top of the reservation, you will also buy a pass that grants you one week access to the park. Make sure you save that receipt or pass as if you leave the campground (i.e. To go get food or buy stuff) you will be asked to present it for reentry. I think this pass is about 30 dollars. The wonderfully sweet people in the info booth will give you two slips with your campground number on it. Put one on our dash and the other on the post right outside of your lot. They will also give you a map showing you where your loop and lot is. Furthermore, they will go over dos and donts of the park. Mainly during fire season, campfires and charcoal grills are prohibited due to fire hazards. Propane grills are allowed. Drive to your lot and enjoy your time! There are bathrooms, trash areas, and dish washing sinks located in each loop. There are no showers though. There are some at Zion Outfitters that are 5 mins for 4 dollars. There is a lot of wildlife around so be cautious with your food. Don't feed them! A deer came up all the way to our table so they're not afraid of humans. You get a gorgeous view of the mountains from the grounds. Free shuttles to all the attractions are running throughout the day and are accessible at the visitor center. Note that there is a long line early in the morning. At the end of your trip, drop your dashboard and post slips into the brown box on the exit side of the info booth. As long as you check out by 11 am, there should be no problem! Enjoy nature. Stay hydrated. Bathe in sunscreen.

When a small group of old friends decided to invite me on their wild-hare trip to Zion, how could I refuse? And how could we not go camping in such a beautiful place? Some of the group wanted a more posh experience, so we split the trip: two nights camping; two nights in a motel. For the camping portion, we needn't have worried about the posh aspect. Watchman campground was one of the best I've ever been to: clean, beautiful, tidy. The campsites were well-organized, with a fire pit, new picnic table, level gravel area for tents, and spotless bathrooms. Even the other campground inhabitants were well-behaved and quiet. (Us?..maybe not so much on the second night). The major shortcoming was the lack of showers, as many others have pointed out. But I think this was by design - that way, people only stay a few nights max, making room for others. The other, minor shortcoming was that some of the sites were a little too close together for my taste. Privacy was a bit hard to come by. But the location could not have been better. A five-minute walk from the Zion main shuttle stop and visitor center. Our family just had the best time at this campground. I was a bit worried because I read that it was not child friendly, however I found it was great. People are friendly, respectful of the quiet time, the bathrooms were some of the cleanest bathrooms I have seen at a camp ground and the river is really close. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and we will for sure be back. Zion is a magical place and this is an amazing place to stay and explore the park.

Electric hookup at some sites. I had loop A 23 with electric. Get water before you go to your site. No other hookups at site for RVs. Beautiful campground within the park. Adjacent the visitor center and shuttle bus stops into park or into town of Springdale for restaurants or hotels. Have a reservation or don't show up. It's always full. Beautiful level site. Red rock views with gorgeous mountains all around us.

You need to book campsites ahead of time. It is located behind the visitors center of the south entrance. Pros: Bathrooms are in really good condition Site D29 is located on the side of campground facing the canyon, a big rock divides one neighbor while you don't really get privacy with the other neighbor Cons: Campsites are pretty close to each other Fire pit was on the corner of camping site

One of the best campgrounds I been to and it's so fun! Nice views good people and there even a ranger show always at 9pm and the hikes are amazing and beautiful MUST GO

Great campground located right at the entrance of the national park. Each site is very clean and well kept. Also included is the standard picnic table and fireplace. Our spot did not have a ton of shade, but we only came back to the site mainly to sleep at night. I wouldn't call the campsite itself very pretty, but you get GORGEOUS views of Watchman tower. That is totally worth it!! When I made the reservation, I was worried because the site looked so close to a bathroom. But it actually was a good distance away. Close enough for convenience, but far enough away for privacy. There are no showers at this campground. But there are a few outdoor companies that offer pay-showers a 5-10 minute drive away so it was not a major issue. The bathrooms were also very clean. There's also a utility sink and water refill area. You definitely should make reservations!!! We had to make ours almost 6 months in advance to secure one of the last few sites. There are other first-come-first-serve campsites throughout the park. But if you want a reserved spot, plan ahead!!!!

This site is beautiful and the facilities available (enclosed real toilets, dish washing sink, shuttle within walking distance) are great, so that earned it three stars. We went Thanksgiving weekend 2016 and I would not recommend coming here on a holiday weekend. The sites are very close together. I don't know if Rangers generally require people to be more quiet, or not? But my neighbors were drunk, yelling until late into the morning and I got maybe an hour of sleep between them and the cold wind whipping through my tent. So- light to moderate sleepers, beware! Deep sleepers, go do your thing. If you're anywhere near my husband's level of deep-sleep ability, you'll not notice any of the above and maybe deny it was freezing until you find your water bottle frozen solid. Hoping for your sake that the latter of the two applies!!

The reason for 4/5 stars is because, I would have liked my dog to be allowed on more trails. Watchman Campground is nice! On Labor Day weekend 2018 we stayed in a group site; area E7. The campsite had 6 benches, a fire pit, and was located near the restrooms. It was really hot during the day, in the 90's, and the night was in the high 50's. My dog had fun near the water and on one of the trails.

Absolutely perfect campground. Well maintained despite the near constant full capacity of the summer crowds although the restrooms did need a little more attention. Perfect location next to the visitor center which has easy access to the shuttles or Springdale. And you have views of the canyon and Watchman. Make sure you check out campsite photos when picking a spot since some spots have better shade then others.

Watchman campground is nice. Clean bathrooms, easy walk to shuttles.recycling bins. We booked 3 months in advance but also added a night just by checking cancellations. Campsite D12 and F5 are nice. Many of the walk to sites in Loop F dont offer firepits per site but they have a group fire pit. F5 has a firepit. Zion is crowded. We visited early May and shuttles were crowded. Campgrounds full. It definitely detracts from nature. Campsites are very close to one another so respect quiet hours for others. If you camp and want to stay in park past site check out time then you need to park in visitor parking ASAP. No leisure breakfast at campsite. Visitor parking gets filled by 9am.

It's nature! Not really. It was my first camping this weekend. We were 15 people and it was awesome. For first time camper I'd recommend this place. I actually thought camping is really into the wild like in movies where you build your tent, shower in river, poop in bushes and take out your cookware and cook on the fire you just started with rubbing two wood pieces. Well, well sadly it wasn't as wild as I thought. But still it was very nice. The campsite is separated in many small sections for all campers. Each camp group will get their own spot with table, seats and a fire place. Besides there is space for your vehicle and up to 3 tents are allowed. You can either let the park rip you off and pay $5 for 5 min shower or so or you can just not shower at all, hop inside the river or squat and use the blue big faucets in front of the available restrooms. It was very convenient from here to Angels Landing and The Narrows by taking the shuttle bus. The visitors center is close by as well. Just have a great time while camping and try not to use plastic and keep this place clean. Plastic is a bitch and nature our friend.

Stayed 4 nights over Thanksgiving weekend 2017. There's not a whole lot more I could want in a campground besides maybe showers and hammock-able trees. Clean bathrooms, potable water, a utility sink for washing dishes, fire pits at each site and gorgeous views of the impressive rock formations surround this campground. Some may find the sites too close together but that's never really an issue for me and all of our constantly changing neighbors were quiet and respectful. There's an allowance of 6 people and 2 cars per campsite (different rules for RV sites) for $20 per night. The campground is located within the park, a short 5 minute walk to the Visitor Center and shuttles and a 10-15 minute walk to town depending on where you're going. No messing around with the long queues to get in and out of the park at popular hours. It is extremely windy here at night so you'll need weights to tie down your tent, canopy, etc. Tent stakes were pretty useless in some parts of our site as the site floors were concrete with a light layer of dirt to make them look more natural. We were able to find rocks without much of a search. You will probably also need more firewood than usual due to the wind. There are a few deer families that call this campground home and are not remotely scared of humans so keeping food and trash locked away is imperative. I plan on making many more trips to Zion over the next few years I'll remain in Utah and I have no reason to look anywhere else for campgrounds.

Poorly maintained RV Park. The location and spots are big and pretty good. However, it's all on dirt and there is no water hookup, only electricity. All water comes from a few shared water taps at the bathrooms. The bathrooms were dirty National Park bathrooms as well.

We lucked out at the first come first serve campground. It was an incredible view and felt very safe, clean, and overall atmosphere was incredible. No WIFI was the best if it, no interruptions. kids enjoyed the trip and had fun fishing and just spending time over the campfire. Bathrooms were extremely clean and were cleaned at least twice a day that I experienced.

The watchman campground makes camping a lot easier (especially for first time campers like my sister and me). They have clean bathrooms and a dish washing station and clean drinking water! Each site has it's own table and fire pits which make it convenient to cook for yourself. No showers so bring baby wipes! The location of the campground is great! It's right by both the Springdale shuttle and the Zion park shuttles so you have direct access to the city and the park, they come every 15 minutes or less.

My number one piece of advice is book really far in advance! Like months! Silly me thinking I could book a spot at such a popular location a week in advance! Yikes. We were initially planning on going to the other campground that was first come first serve, but so very luckily my boyfriend checked the night before and someone had made a last minute cancellation and we were able to get two nights! I'm telling you, save yourself the stress and book as soon as you plan your dates for Zion. The campground the first night was pretty quiet but the second one ( a Thursday night) felt like a night at Coachella. Lots of screaming kids and loud music coming from cars. We heard a lot of people yelling "chug chug chug!" For about an hour. Hey I'm 24 and can appreciate a good party, but a lot of us are here to hike 8 hours the next day starting at 7am. Why the hell are you chugging anything? Thankfully we had a few flash floods that forced most partiers into their tent. Bring earplugs! And don't leave your tent open for fresh air in the morning. We were woken up by some hungry squirrels who did not care that there were people in the way. Also be prepared for any kinds of weather. We got pretty heavily rained on in the middle of July throughout the day. Honestly though, it's one of the most beautiful campsites you'll ever stay at. Enjoy!

The location alone makes this campground worth it. We stayed in early May and it was so convenient for us to get around. The campground is located within the national park and the first bus stop to all the sites is a short walk away. It would be inconvenient to have to shuttle or drive into the park in the mornings as the shuttles are crowded and parking is scarce. The site itself was a good size for six of us and was enough room for three tents and two cars. It is very windy, especially at night, in the park so make sure your campsite is secure. The worst part of this campground is the bugs. Although the bathrooms and campgrounds seem clean at night there are huge roaches in the bathroom, the adjacent sinks, and in the grounds. It really freaked me out and we went to bed fairly early to avoid them.

Great campground at a great price. Only $18 for an RV spot with electricity. There is a dumping station that also has water. Campsites are nice. Picnic tables are clean and in good shape. Sites are reasonably private but some more than others. All have fire rings (can we get rid of these please - I'm so done with fires smelling up the entire campground! Location is just inside the park. Close enough to town that you could just walk over. Lots of restaurants and bars there to entertain you all night. Even a big theater. Bathrooms are bare bones though. Toilets but no showers. Make reservations summer through end of November.

Fantastic location just inside the front entrance. Beautiful Mountain View's surround you. Plenty of space between sites so never felt crowded. Bathrooms are kept clean. Close to the temporary shuttle stop so it is noisy starting at 6:30 am. Came here with a large scout group and were treated well and allowed to have fun. Deer come right into the sites. USE the provided animal boxes or the squirrels will eat your stuff.

This is our third time staying at the Watchman Campground and we could not be happier. We are currently staying here during Easter Weakend and everything is great. I expected crowds and craziness but it has been pretty calm. The views from the campsites are amazing, especially when the sun is rising or setting. In can be a challenge getting a reservation but thankfully a ranger gave me a pointer awhile back that has worked at this park and others. We can't wait to come back again!
