Water Garden Sigiriya, Sigiriya, Sri Lanka - Explore & Book

"Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka’s most treasured World Heritage sites, is the literal focus of this boutique hotel in the island’s Cultural Triangle region. Although the 200m-high rock is a few km away, it rears clearly above the surrounding grassy plains, and the hotel's stunning symmetry – designed by Channa Daswatta, a renowned student of Geoffrey Bawa – gives vistas of the ruined fortress from every angle. The namesake water gardens are crafted out of former rice terraces, and the hotel's mature tree-edged setting is incredibly tranquil. The 30 reed-fringed or over-water villas are freestanding, with cutting-edge facilities; most have private plunge pools. Communal areas are smart and chic, too, with open-sided terraces for drinking and dining, and a huge swimming pool, all carefully positioned to view Sigiriya. The local heritage sites are why you come to this region, but the hotel's idyllic setting and award-winning service are more than enough reason to stay put and relax for a few days, rather than whistling through on a tour. And thanks to its wonderful spa with sauna and steam room offering treatments and holistic yoga, a gym and separate kids pool, there's plenty to keep everyone very happy. This is an extremely indulgent and uplifting retreat. Highs An inspiring architectural design focused on Sigiriya’s silhouette Delicious Sri Lankan food, or Western options if you prefer The peaceful grounds teem with wildlife, particularly peacocks, lizards and monkeys, which you can spy from your terrace Luxurious villas are huge, with 1-2 bedrooms and separate living areas. Most have private plunge pools Well located for visiting Sigiriya, Dambulla's Unesco-listed cave temples and the ancient capitals of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Lows Only 2 Deluxe Villas have views of Sigiriya No other restaurants within easy distance; book half board The road leading to the resort is unpaved and can get bumpy after heavy rain When we visited, some pathways weren’t lit at night, but there are torches in the rooms or you can call a golf buggy" - Emma Boyle

Water Garden Sigiriya (Sigiriya, Central Province) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Water Garden Sigiriya seems like an evocative, almost poetic name for a hotel, but in fact it’s as sensible as they come — which testifies to the magic of its setting. Sigiriya is a fifth-century fortress built atop a natural column of rock in the island’s inland center, and the hotel’s grounds, crisscrossed with manmade pools, lakes, and streams, is quite literally a water garden." - Tablet Hotels

We had a wonderful stay at the Water Garden Hotel. The service was exceptional—every member of the staff was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was delicious and health-conscious, and we appreciated that the chef personally approached us one day to ask for feedback and find out what we’d like to eat.||The atmosphere throughout the hotel was incredibly friendly, and our kids especially loved the pools. Our villa was spacious, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing.||A special mention goes to our butler, Udara, who was incredibly helpful and reliable. He took great care of us throughout our stay, even shuttling the kids between the villa and the restaurant each evening. He truly made our experience even more enjoyable.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. Immaculately kept. Beautiful grounds to cycle and walk around. Wildlife everywhere including langur monkeys, lyrebirds, shy crocodiles. Incredibly designed for comfort and breathtaking scenery. It was like returning to paradise every afternoon. Sensational dining and an amazing pool. The staff are incredibly kind especially Udara. Always ready with a smile and wanting to help. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I returned from a bike ride around polannurawa with an injured arm and he showed great concern. Shout out also to the restaurant captain. What an impressive young man. I was so impressed with water garden and would recommend it very strongly to all travellers.

The Water Garden Sigiriya hotel is really incredible. It is beyond beautiful with a spectacular view on the Lion Rock. All sorts of animals to spot on the site, like crocodiles, lots of different birds, frogs and monkeys. The staff is super friendly, with special thanks to our two hilarious and fun ‘butlers’; Dinuka & Dilanka! They made the stay unforgettable. Also a special thanks to Thamidu, our waiter during our stay. Breakfast and dinner, he was always there with the best service! Thank you for the memories!

We went on our honeymoon and stayed for two days, it was truly the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and heartfelt. The location was perfect, and the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay. A special mention goes to our coordinator, Uadara, who gave us outstanding service highly recommended! The restaurant staff were also amazing they took the time to ask about our preferences and made sure we got exactly what we needed. The food was absolutely delicious. Our room was super clean, well-maintained, and had all the accessories and facilities we could possibly need. The room service team, along with the rest of the staff, were so supportive and kind. This hotel made our honeymoon truly memorable. We’d love to come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful getaway!

I recently had a visit with my family, and it was an amazing experience with stunning views of Sigiriya and Pidurangala. From the very beginning, we received a warm welcome, including a relaxing neck and shoulder massage that was superb. The food was top-notch, and the staff was incredible. A special shout-out to our personal butler, Mr. Dilanka, and the restaurant staff. This stay has become one of the most memorable experiences in our travel journey!

DO NOT HESTITATE, JUST BOOK THIS AMAZING RESORT |A fabulous stay at Water Garden. The property is amazing, the villas have every amenity and are very large, the breakfast of wonderful quality, the restaurant has great food at reasonable prices and the staff are wonderful. They have bikes you can use to get around the property, or the buggy service will drive you around. A special mention to Tharindu, the naturalist, who was absolutely brilliant, his knowledge, passion and kindness really shines through, their tours are probably more expensive that what you can get independently, but he was worth the extra cost, even getting the kitchen to make us a special milk rice to sample (different than the menu). We would not hesitate to stay again, we hope to be back.

Fell in love with this hotel. Between the excellent and kind service, big rooms, lovely spa/gym, comfortable bed, high quality food, pool, attention to detail, cleanliness, and the surrounding nature (monkeys and peacocks on site!), it was the ultimate spot to start our relaxing vacation. I only wish we had stayed longer! I would come back to Sigiriya just to stay in this hotel.
