It is very unfortunate that this site has a new owner. He has been running this business for 8 months. We have £200 stolen at this venue. We booked through booking.com.||||Series of events ||||08:00 hrs: On the morning of the 14th February, I checked my wallet and all money was in the wallet I then locked my case and hid the keys in the front of my case, as we had hired scouters from the hotel to go out for the day. It is important to note that the room we had was a private room. However, the rooms are open with only ill fitting curtains for privacy, and in close proximity to other guests and staff.||||16:00 hrs onwards: On arriving from our day out, we returned the bike keys and returned back to our room to pack. We were gather our belongings and noticed a small hand luggage looked like it had been moved. And the case zipper head position had changed. I then opened the case and checked the contents to find money missing from the wallet. The contents of the case were out of order like they’d been rifled through. This case was the only case to be locked. ||||Myself and my partner then double checked all our belongings in case we were mistaken our any other belongings were missing. Nothing more had been taken. ||||We then checked again before going to the receptionist to discuss the missing money. She asked if I was sure I explained we double checked as wouldn’t go in to this lightly. The receptionist then requested we go to the room and double checked which we did and the money was still not found. ||||The receptionist asked why we didn’t lock the tree house hatch. I explained we wasn’t given a key nor was we made aware there was a key to lock the hatch. ||||The receptionist apparently called all the staff to question if anyone had been in the room that day. One of the staff had supposedly been in our room to turn off the lights. There are only two sets of lights in the room one set is operated by a switch by the bed and the other with a set by the bed and a light outside the room near the entrance. This seems to be very unlikely as we turned the lights and fans off as we left in the morning and then closed the hatch. ||||The receptionist then called the owner who clearly wasn’t interested and did nothing to support any type of investigation efforts and was uncooperative and implied I was lying. After sometime I did convince the receptionist to contact the police. However, they spoke in Filipino and nothing was progressed. ||||In summary: An incident such as this has never happened to me before, and due to this incident this has to be the worst stay I have had anywhere in the world. This hotel is not a safe place and open to anyone to access, which is evident in the fact that money was stolen from our room and by the fact we got a taxi at 04:15 am this morning, the member of night staff was asleep in the reception. The area around the hotel is obviously not safe as a hotel a short walk from where we stayed (Fox and Fire Fly) has an armed guard 24/7. I would just like to add so you understand my character I’m a Royal Navy Veteran and my current role is as a regulator for the environment agency which fall under DEFRA a part of the government. I would caution against anyone using this hotel not to stay here at the moment as there is a risk. I however, understand I should possibly of not taken cash with me and should have been more careful. With that in mind the hotel should provide keys lock the padlocks on the hatches and room safes and CCTV to be fitted. With that in mind the owner has stated he will investigate this for the future. However, the owner has taken no responsibility and no action to investigate or compensate for what happened to us in his property and in my opinion he lacks any form of respect or integrity and failed to act in an appropriate manner.
