In County Donegal, Ireland's Myths, Magic, and Music Intertwine
"Kevin Boyle, the son of a Donegal native who emigrated to Chicago and made his fortune in packaged foods, has refurbished the Waterfront Hotel in Dungloe (doubles from about $90; waterfronthoteldungloe.ie)."
We arrived at the hotel on the 30 December for 3 nights and were greeted by such lovely staff and they could not have been more helpful from start to finish. Everything we asked for or needed assistance with was provided and honestly don't remember a hotel like this for some time now. The hotel was clean warm and very comfortable and the view from our window was just so nice. Breakfast and evening dinning were good and again the staff went over and above to ensure this. The gym was pretty amazing best I have been to in years and free to use. The children's paly area was in a good location and it was clear the hotel are trying very hard. The town itself was a few minutes walk and it had bars restaurants and shops everything you would need. I think for me it was the people in both the hotel and in the town that made it, their ability to take the time to slow the pace down, chat with you and make you feel so welcome. On Old Years night the hotel provided entertainment and a DJ that ran into the wee small hours. (the wee band was not great could do with a new one for next year but the DJ was good. That aside we had a great wee night with friends and I would come back here to explore more of the surrounding areas but stay in the Hotel it was just great and memories were made. Well done to all the staff and I hope the hotel has a busy year ahead and remains as it is now a lovely hotel with beautiful views and a calming place to stay with friends or family.

Our dining experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the staff. From the beginning, staff members were dismissive and unfriendly, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcome.|Several meals were forgotten entirely, resulting in a long wait while others at the table had already been served. Even after reminding staff, there was no urgency or apology, and the situation was handled poorly.|To make matters worse, the dining room we were seated in had no lights on, leaving us eating in near darkness. This should never happen in a restaurant setting and shows a serious lack of attention and care.|Overall, the service was unacceptable and fell far below what is expected from a hotel dining experience. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves staff professionalism and basic service standards.

This lovely hotel is an absolute Gem. We had 2 marvellous days. Food in restaurant was definitely a holiday highlight. So welcoming, comfortable and spotlessly clean

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️|Had a wonderful stay at The Waterfront Hotel in Dungloe. It’s in a fantastic location, with beautiful views, affordable rates, and such a welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. A perfect base for exploring the area – highly recommended!

The hotel was clean, quiet, well located, had a good bar and excellent restaurant. The menu was a little short if youre stsying more than a few days but what I had was great.||I wish they'd get the lift company back to swap the buttons. Surely having 0, 1, M, 2 isnt impossible rather than having 0, 1, 2 ,3 which the second floor being on 3!!

A superb hotel . Lovely rooms ,good food with great service. Very nice breakfast. I have stayed in many hotels in Donegal and beyond but this is up there with the best . Not a star and stuffy but 4 star laid back and most importantly all the staff were happy . Says alot about the management. Would recommend it for all ages and families .

Booked Sunday lunch x 5. Seated straight away sat 15 minutes before order taken had to ask could we order drinks. Sat another 15 minutes before I had to proceed to bar to ask where were the drinks. Food finally arrived was nice but service very poor. Plenty of staff but spent most of their time walking around clueless.
