"Fish boils here deviate from tradition (cod and a mix of onions, carrots, and potatoes, boiled separately from the cod, are used) and are offered year-round. From June to October, there are two fish boil seatings a night Saturdays through Tuesdays and on Thursdays. In May, fish boils are three days a week with one seating, and after peak season the fish boils are on Saturdays only. The New Year’s Eve bash even includes a fish boil. The Door County Mojito here features (of course) cherry juice. Local bands play live music on weekends, and Beach Harbor Resort offers boat rentals on the bay. Waterfront Mary’s is next to Potawatomi State Park, a 1,200-acre park of rolling hills and cliffs." - Sharon McDonnell

Great place to stop after taking a hike at Pot Park. Seafood Soup and chili both very good. Perch breading is nice and light with great flavor. I usually eat perch with tartar but this perch doesn't need it. (Tartar is good). Cherry mule was large and tasty.

The Shrimp Chowder was so incredible, I embarrassed my husband by ordering another big bowl. Another bonus. We are Pepsi driners and it came out icey cold. Felt like we were at a restaurant on a Florida beach. Volleyball court, bags, families with pets and little ones just enjoying the resort like place. Add this to your list of 'Don't miss' if you are driving through Sturgeon Bay.

This was my first time trying a fish boil, so I can’t compare it to others—but the overall experience here was absolutely amazing! From the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the fantastic service, everything exceeded expectations. And the best part? It’s dog-friendly! Michael even made a special fish boil dish just for my puppy, which completely made my day. The beautiful waterfront location is just the cherry on top. I can’t wait to come back!

Some of the staff is a little on the newbie side but they will get it with time… the rest of the staff is AWESOME though.. the customer service is great and there’s so much to do around here and the ppl around here are great and friendly and honest. We always have the best time every year. The fireworks on the 4th of July are amazing and by far the BEST EVER! The fish boil is WORLD FAMOUS kinda good. No other fish boil is like the one here at waterfront Mary’s.

We did not eat. Stopped while exploring Sturgeon Bay. Staff was nice and place had outdoor area near the water. A bit of a drive but good place to unwind. Can’t comment on the food but the drinks were fire.

Went 3 times! Great fried perch, Walleye. But the chest was the fish boil. Awesome to watch and delicious! And fabulous cherry pie at the end!

Google
Fish Fry Friday! Really good perch with fixins'. I had deep fried, wifee had the pan fried. Probably the best pan fried perch ever. Our server, Caesar was excellent. So blessed to have a real "Old Door County" place like this still around and apparently thriving. Also, the potato salad was at the highest level known to man.

We came here several times a year. Great place to eat, fish boil is always amazing. Mike has perfected it. Just had one issue with a bar tender (Cindy, I believe). After ordering an appetizer from her and waited over an hour for it, I nicely asked if it would be ready soon as they were clearly busy. She turned to me and in a condescending tone “you said you didn’t want to order that” and proceeded to glare at me with a smug look. I explained “no, I did. But it’s ok. Not a big deal.” The other kitchen staff overheard and corrected the problem right away. The rest of the staff have been incredibly respectful and accommodating to their customers/visitors. But since we’re here all weekend at the resort, we kept running into this Cindy bartender and she continued to roll her eyes at me and give me nasty looks. Once, I just said “good evening” trying to be friendly and she scuffed and turned away. This is all over one appetizer. We’ve witnessed her rolling her eyes at other customers too when they come to the bar to order. She made us feel so uncomfortable and felt it was very unprofessional.

Yelp
Overall: 3/10 Food: 4/10 Service: 2/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 4/10 This place has total potential to be good. And I think for some of the locals this is the place to be. As a visitor to the area, we were definitely treated like second class citizens (although our money spends just the same). There was a long wait to get in due to their twice-a-night fish fry rotation. We waited for over an hour and then finally checked where we're at on the wait list. To our surprise, we discovered that they intentionally skipped us and were let seating locals in front of us. They said that it was not intentional but that they just accidentally skipped over our name (multiple times). There was no apology and the front desk person was very put out by the fact that we still wanted to sit down and eat. Honestly, it was a very rude and frustrating experience. Once seated , they couldn't figure out who was supposed to help us at our table. It took another 30 mins before we were finally able to get someone to take our order. Of course the fish fry was sold out for our round by the time we got to order so we settled for some other items off the menu. One of things we ordered were the fried shrimp which were burnt to an absolute crisp and inedible. The rest of the food was average at best. The bill came and it was $150 which was completely over priced. Overall, bad food and even worse service which is a shame as the place is right on the water and a beautiful spot. As visitors to the area, we don't recommend based our experience. If you go, I hope you have a better experience than we did.

Yelp
I was here on a photography tour with six of my customers... We only ate here three out of five nights why... The prices were great, the service was decent. The food was crazy good especially the fish and shrimp soup... Best I've ever had in door County. The third night we had the fish boil and it was over the top, phenomenal quality, great flavor, simple, and a price of $21 who would've thought this place would be so great. Yes, they have basic sandwiches and regular bar food but if you know what to order, including the cheese curds you'll keep coming back !

Aaron V.

Yelp
Waterfront Mary's has a great seafood chowder which appears to have white fish as the primary protein. I have never had the regionally famous fish boil but, I imagine this chowder tastes similar to the boil. This was a delicious chowder and I recommend stopping in to grab a drink and a bowl of chowder if your in town.

Hellene D.

Yelp
Beautiful and fantastic ambience reminiscent of Margaritaville on a tropical vacation that isn't the United States. They had wonderful beer options and good drink prices. Yet, I left sorely disappointed. We started with the Regards Cheese Curds at $7.96. Whereast the price was reasonable, there wasn't very many curds. Oh well. My family of six had two kids meals at a bargain price of $5 each. Out of four options (grilled cheese, Mac and cheese, chicken tenders, and fish) each included an abundance of french fries. My eldest son had the cod dinner at $21.95 which included clam chowder. I was told by both my son and husband it was the best they ever had. Hence I went with three stars, the Max I could give. My eldest daughter had the Texas Cowboy burger and she enjoyed it. The husband went with the walleye sandwich and was happy. But then came me... I'm fairly certain there aren't a lot of vegetarians who eat here. This point was exemplified when my Beyond Burger came out pink and ICE COLD. Okay, maybe the bun will make it better. Nope, hard as a rock. So, as the rest of my family enjoyed their meals I watched and waited for our waitress to swing by. And waited. And waited. Good thing they had other busgirls manning our table or I would have sat in pain for five hours. I finally reported it to the waitress and a good 5 minutes later had the same Beyond come out no longer pink, but with the same bite mark I initially left. Yummers. Yet, same bun as well. The fantastic busgirls came around again and knew my disappointment once more. She obtained a new bun for me. At this point I was done. Vibe and ambience, 5 stars for sure. Food for family, a good 4. Me and the wonderful luck I have as a vegetarian, 1 star.

Yelp
Tips for tourists: We came in early November, and this place is one of the only places with off-season fish boils We came for a Saturday night 5:30pm fish boil HUGE SUCCESS! This is a must-do! We called the morning of and made a reservation - you must reserve We arrived at 5pm, plenty of parking The view is amazing, sit outside before and during the fish boil Service is very nice Food was good, and they have RC cola not Coke Bathrooms were a bit gross though

Jillian K.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner. The location is great, the staff is friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our selections a lot, drinks to dinner. They have a great operation and plot of land.

Gabriella M.

Yelp
Went to hostess to be sat, given a menu & told to take a seat wherever I wanted (not under tent). Did so at a table outside (not under tent), no one greeted- left after OVER 20 minutes. Not that busy to not be noticed. Great view outside with live music tho! 2 stars for that

Heather G.

Yelp
Amazing view, bar area was small but had such cute decorations. Dining area was bigger and they had out side seating too. Food was so good. Bartender was so nice and friendly.

Tom Z.

Yelp
They know how to make an Old Fashioned! Great fish. An interesting setting. Good service, fair price

Annette A.

Yelp
Great crowd of people. Food was perfect for sitting outside and eating! Nice to have restaurant onsite

Cassidy C.

Yelp
Great first fish boil experience- learned lots and enjoyed the show, everything tasted amazing!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance of this bar, and it's great if you're looking for a waterfront restaurant with classic Wisconsin pub food. Our service was speedy, but there was only one server working the whole restaurant and she seemed really overworked (I gave her a big tip because I felt bad for her). The fries were great, as was the Walleye Sandwich I got. However, there was something every off about the water they served and my partner and I decided not to drink it after having a couple of sips. The water tasted very metallic, almost like blood. We got lemonades instead and they were fine. I really liked this place though and I would recommend if you're in the area!

Frank N.

Yelp
This unassuming restaurant is chock full of must do's! First, the restaurant is right on the water which makes dining outside so much fun and picturesque. Then, the drinks come and there's a great selection. This Bloody Mary was out of bounds. It's my first time seeing a hard boiled egg, asparagus, and a beef stick in a spicy drink! The staff here was so polite and funny that they made the experience great. The gentleman who ran the fish boil was so fun to watch and he had a great personality. We laughed and learned about his stories! Now, the food... Being my first Wisconsin fish boil, I can see what the hype is about. The fish was so flavorful and the veggies perfect with a nice clarified butter dip. It hit the spot on a cool night. Then, to finish it off, you get a cherry pie with ice cream! We really loved this place and would come back in a heartbeat!

Debbie G.

Yelp
I am basing the four star review on the bloody Mary and nice view of the water. The restaurant is cute but looks and smells like it could use a good deep clean. I didn't order any food, I can't comment on that. But it seemed like typical bar fried food. The bloody Mary was yummy! Funny though, other Yelpers said it wasn't good. I guess it depends on who is bartending. Our bartender was quiet and didn't seem happy to be working at all. Not sure I'll be back.

Megan S.

Yelp
Such good food, amazing chowder with full size shrimp, great sushi night, perfect cheese curds...love this place!!

Callie C.

Yelp
Great views, great staff, my kiddo and my pup had a phenomenal time. Food was amazing and drinks were so well done

Joshua R.

Yelp
Went for the fish boil canceled when we saw the first group of the night go. I didn't know you could throw frozen cod fillets in a pot of water and toss a pitcher of kingsford lighter fluid on it and call that good! Also rude bartenders and dirty bathrooms.

Dave C.

Yelp
Don't believe any previous bad reviews!!! Service was very attentive by Luis, the food was amazing!!! Chowder the very best ever, walleye sandwich and cherry pie ala mode was to die for. Off the beaten path, a can't miss place to eat. I would give 6 stars out of 5 possible!!!

Kaitlynn M.

Yelp
We went here for a quick drink during our first visit to Sturgeon Bay. I cannot comment on the food, as we did not have any but the drinks and ambiance were great! You look right over the water and can relax on lounge chairs. There is room both in the sun and under the trees if you are trying to catch some shade. That being said, I am giving this four stars instead of five because the service was not good. The drink counts were off and it took about 5 minutes to get two drinks (rum and coke, vodka soda). I would come back for another quick day drink but probably not much more.

Olesia M.

Yelp
The best place in Wisconsin! Awesome fishboil!!! Amazing cherry pie! Our second, and not the last time here! Thank you!!!

A P.

Yelp
Steak is Good, Pork Burger is good, All I had so far is good. Great place , waterfront.

Francoise W.

Yelp
Location is the very best, hence the 4 stars, as you drink and eat right on the water with unobstructed view of the lake. The setting is an old fashioned, unfancy place which I prefer and they serve bar food which looked okay. I went there for the " Fish Boil " experience as I was stayin Sturgeon Bay, and while I would recommend it for the one time experience, I would not recommend it as a habit, and it felt touristy, but then again I am a tourist! Staff was good enough, prices decent.

Kris A.

Yelp
Tastes like cheap frozen cod, which it is! This place should be ashamed to sell such low quality fish.. I have tasted fish boil at other places like Old post office and White gull inn. They use fresh (or freshly/recently frozen?) white fish, which is excellent. The white fish tastes almost like crab meat. I went to this place only because it is 1.5 hours closer and it was a huge disappointment! Never again would I go hear. Of course, in the typical door county tradition, the service was nice and polite. The staff were nice and it was a good but tasteless dining experience!

Rose K.

Yelp
Food was good. Great burger and fries. Service was also fast. Live music with indoors outdoor seating. Laid back feel.

Brian K.

Yelp
Amazing fish boil, strong drinks, great atmosphere and service. Love this hidden gem.

Heather J.

Yelp
We were staying right close at a campground. As we travel the United States we love to try different restaurants. From the outside it looks very small, but on the inside it's big. Great service, food and love the view.

Brian S.

Yelp
Great location and relaxed laid back atmosphere! Mac and cheese bite appetizer was very good as was the fish sandwich!

Andria Z.

Yelp
What a joke this place is from a food and service standpoint. ~Hostess had no idea what she was doing ~Waited 15 min. for a server to arrive ~Out of a lot of menu items ~Tons of mixed drinks available yet NO drink menu exists It's too bad such a sweet location doesn't take it's restaurant seriously.

Scott M.

Yelp
Thanks to Bring Fido app we found this as dog friendly place. We was here on a Sunday night & got a show. The Sunday special was "The Fish Boil". This place is way off the beaten path, Good view from the patio.

Scott M.

Yelp
Unfamiliar with the area, we were looking for somewhere to just sit back and enjoy the view of the water while eating dinner. We did some research and stumbled upon this beautiful location. Service was great, they have outdoor seating and our group of 6 had a great view of the area AND we had great seats for the nights Fish Boil. Didn't know what it was, but incredible to see. If you're looking for an out of the way place, this is it !!

Alyssa M.

Yelp
This spot gets a 4 star for location with a perfect view of Lake Michigan but a 3 star for food. They are known for their fish boils and have a lot of outdoor seating. My husband raved about his walleye sandwich and I think the baja chicken sandwich was decent. We both got American fries which were crispy and had a soft potato inside. We didn't know what to do when we walked in so we went up to a server and asked about seating. We found out it is a seat yourself place and a little chaotic and could be awhile. We sat down at a table that they pointed out and then a few minutes later they came to take our order. I recommend reaching out to a server before you sit so they know you are new. The server did their best to provide great service even know they were busy. I would go back for the view and some decent pub food.

Lynn G.

Yelp
Food was good but service was awful. Waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. Employees were just standing around doing nothing. won't return again.

Gene T.

Yelp
They say they're the best fish fry in Door County. Well it's the best one I've found anyway. Our waitress was Teresa. She promptly took our drink order as we were seated. We sat in the all season room with a fantastic view of the bay. I had the option of having the 3 piece fish dinner or the two piece fish and chips. I went with the fish and chips. It was a reasonable amount of time when our food came out. I got two fairly large pieces of battered deep fried cod and a generous amount of fries. I was glad I went with the two piece, three would have been too much. The fish was flaky not oily and had a delicious crispy batter. The fries were a little under cooked for my taste. As we finished up Teresa came with the check. She talked to us about their fish boil and other events they have. She told us about the rental they have right next door. A possibility to consider in the future. I'm glad I have a new favorite fish fry place.

Patricia B.

Yelp
Really nice place on the water. It's dog friendly. The food was very good. The service was good despite the fact that the place was busy. We will definitely return with friends in the near future.

Patty Z.

Yelp
We stayed at the Harbor Beach Resort for our off-season getaway and didn't realize Waterfront Mary's was just a stone's throw away. I had been there before in the summer and it was really crowded. We signed up for the first fish boil we had ever been to. Teresa, our server, explained the process. It's really an event, where Mike tells a story of the origins of the fish boil and they ignite a big fire and then ring a bell for the boil over. Then you go back inside and the server gives you your individual plate with fish, onions, potatoes and carrots and rye bread and a piece of cherry pie. It was just the perfect meal and experience. They use cod, not trout or a local white fish, so it's not fishy at all. The fish was flaky and delicious and you could eat everything on your plate. We had deep fried ravioli as an appetizer and it was phenomenal! I never had deep fried ravioli with a pepper jack cheese, which I'm pretty sure it was. It was tangy and delicious. Since we were staying at the resort we spent almost every day at Waterfront Mary's. The staff was absolutely phenomenal. In particular, our favorite bartenders Quintin and Nealy were super helpful and friendly. Samantha, the resort dog, was a good girl. In fact, everyone was friendly and we felt like we were home. On Sunday, we were treated to a band called The Ultimate Bratwurst. Heck, even the band was friendly! We hated to leave and will most likely find our way back here some day in the future.

James G.

Yelp
What can I say. Fantastic location, great food, nice drinks, and a high energy staff. Came for lunch and stayed for dinner. Food was great and so was the service, The chowder is amazing. The cherry pie ala mode was heavenly. Would recommend!

Angie G.

Yelp
Would love to review the food. Waited till 11:17. Finally found a server who said the rest of the servers had not shown up yet she had taken several inside orders and admitted the kitchen would be very backed up. We left. Maybe I can review the food another time... IF we decide to try again.

C G.

Yelp
This restaurant if you can call it. We came from Chicago to Door County for a weekend 2 yrs ago. This was the 1st restaurant we went to and was excited til we got there. 1st rude and unpleasant staff. Food was nothing comparable to anything. I can't give any star doesn't deserve it. WORST RESTAURANT! I guess that's the kind of work these people will ever do. No class so I'm not surprised these people will never go anywhere. This restaurant and the staff deserves each other. Never go to this place. Hopefully it will shut down soon. No one deserves to experience it.

Sarah S.

Yelp
This place was so disappointing. I went here for drinks and to see some live music with a friend. The set up of this place makes no sense. We tried to get seated for a table to order food and couldn't find a hostess. Once we finally got seated, our server was rude. Half our order was wrong and it took forever just to bring out some waters. The band was set up right in front of the door to get to the patio so you had music blaring right in front of you. There was a random dog walking around the sports bar that some of the servers kept petting. I'm a dog owner but seeing people pet a dog and then touch my food was just gross. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was even worse.

Walter G.

Yelp
To begin with we went to Mary's because our Airbnb host suggested that this is the place to go. There were plenty of people ahead of us waiting for tables. The place was packed. We were clearly informed the food would be a 1 1/2 hour wait. Up front notice was welcomed being as my wife and I have been in food service before. Being as there were only two of us getting seated was easier than a large group. We got to our table relatively quickly. Dre, our waitress, arrived shortly after our seating to take drink orders and present menus and specials. When Dre returned with our drinks we placed our order. We were again informed of the delay time. That was nice to know. Again, it's hard to get frustrated if you are told it's going to be a wait. My wife promptly asked if there was something that we could get quicker? "Seafood chowder by cup or bowl" Dre was quick to respond. We ordered two cups of the chowder. From the first taste of the chowder to the last possible bite of food on our fisherman's platter (we needed to get to go boxes the servings were ample) we were not disappointed. In the end. I'm glad Mary's was recommended to us. I recommend you consider Mary's for your next meal. The view is great! It's on the waterfront. Our experience with the staff was excellent. My five star review is solely based on the fulfillment and beyond of my expectations. I had no preconceived notions that this was going to be the Ritz Carlton of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Quite satisfied.

Sean D.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Rude bartender. Couldnt even drink the drink after we finally got one because it was some sort of nasty mix of something , finally got food and it tasted like salt . Had to choke down my steak and eat with my hands because I didn't have a fork . Should have walked out after the drink . Will never go back . Waste of $50

Jack B.

Yelp
Super, great food at fantastic prices! The seafood chowder tops the best I've had in this fine country! 35-cent shrimp on Thursdays! The view is most spectacular! I recommend this place to everyone!!

Vicki E.

Yelp
Fun place right on the water! Wonderful view! Great service from our waitress! Our 75 cent wings in Wednesday was also very good!

Amber S.

Yelp
This place is pretty good. It is a great place for having a drink to take in the views. Our server was great and it was pretty decent bar food. I had their Bloody Mary, but the mix was pretty gross. However, the toppings were awesome.

Amy K.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem!! We are staying at the campsite (Tranquil Timbers) that is a 3 min walk to this place. We totally stumbled upon this place on accident. We were walking our dogs along the shore when we instantly smelled something delicious. We walked a little further and this amazing out door restaurant appeared! Wednesday night special is .35 cent wings! There are games for the kids to place and apparently you can rent jet skis here too! If you didn't know about this place, you'd miss it in a blink. Everything was priced inexpensive, big portions and it all came out fast and hot! Long Islands are great too! Happy we explore tonight

George D.

Yelp
Great pub food and drinks. The chowder is outstanding!! Friendly service, great view, fun vibe.

Emma V.

Yelp
Fun place to hang out while on vacation! Staff are very friendly, and it's right on the water!

R K.

Yelp
Friendly and accommodating staff made room for us out in four season room. Food was terrific. I had the chicken sandwich. It was tender and well seasoned. The chips were addicting! Coleslaw is yummy the vinegar kind my door county aunts made. My brother had the Spicy chicken wrap. He likes hot and he really enjoyed it. Drinks are strong:-) Great views of the water.

Puja B.

Yelp
This place could be awesome, but the lack of service and low quality food is holding it back. Awesome location with beautiful outdoor area which welcomes dogs, so definitely a plus there. Off the beaten path, so could be nice but the people working here are AWFUL. Just out right do not care at all. The food is not fresh and is low quality. Wouldn't go back, not worth it. 3 stars for location and potential only. 1 star for food and service.
