⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waterloo Bridge – Honestly, this place hits different at night. I visited Waterloo Bridge last night and the view was unreal. London looks completely alive from here — the glow of the skyline, the reflections on the Thames, the buses crossing, the cool breeze… everything feels cinematic. If you want a spot that makes your photos and videos look next-level, this is the place. You don’t even need filters — the lights of the London Eye, the buildings, and the river do the job for you. What I loved most is the vibe: peaceful, safe, and full of energy at the same time. You can just stand there and forget the rest of the world for a few minutes. If you’re visiting London or even if you live here, come here at night. It’s honestly one of the best free experiences in the whole city.

Great views of the City....this was at dusk but unfortunately the mobile camera can't capture the pure light. Still looks impressive...Shard ...Cheesgrater etc..

What a spot to get great day photos and even better (in my view) when dark some views of London landmarks when illuminated. A quick access by foot from Waterloo station to the north side, with the various attractions over there. I was in a hurry for a train after a meeting in town, some of them pictures affected by this but I’ve included them for artistic? fun 😜

Impressive view of the city and its buildings. Quite pretty at night time with all the lights. I have watched the fireworks in the new year from here nice view with the London eye and the big Ben. Recommended

It's a good bridge. I like the fact that bikes and pedestrians have different ways to go. Since there you can see characteristic buildings of London, such as London eye or Big Ben.

Is it the most beautiful bridge in London? Probably not. But it's for sure one of the best spots to see the London skyline along the river Thames! I enjoyed coming here for a nice walk in the late afternoon/evening! You can choose to take a cruise or be on the London eye for the views as well. There are also a few famous attractions nearby, such as Big Ben, London eye, Houses of Parliament ,and Westminster Abby. Some must-see attractions you don't wanna miss when in London. Bonus points: All walkable. I honestly loved coming here for the sunsets, the color changing in the sky was just beautiful! I can easily spend a good couple of hours here without getting bored.

It might not be the newest, largest or most iconic bridge in the city but Waterloo Bridge is still pretty important within the city which opened at the end of 1945, at the end of the war. It's rather nice to cross, even if you have to board a bus service to get across. Fun Fact: Buses in London cost £1.50 per journey, just tap on (NOT OFF) with your Oyster or contactless card and then receive a £4.50 daily cap (After three journeys you basically ride for free) or the £7.20 cap includes National Rail, DLR and Underground in Zones 1-2 as well as TFL buses (bus routes are zoneless) The bridge gives great views of London's most iconic landmarks including the Houses of Parliament and London Eye, and on a nice day, you can even see as far east as Canary Wharf. Named after the Battle of Waterloo and between Blackfriars Bridge and Hungerford Bridge on the Thames, it might not be as historic and iconic as Tower Bridge and London Bridge but it still is worth a look if you have some time in England's wonderful capital city. 3*

Just another bridge in London. If you only have time to see ONE bridge.... please check it out Tower Bridge!!! It is beautiful with unique characters. In the evening, the lights are on. It is magical.

This is such an understated, overlooked bridge! Westminster Bridge, Tower Bridge and the newer Millennium bridge may get a lot of attention and hustle, but this one is quite calm and has breathtaking views of the London skyline, including Big Ben and the London Eye. And it's perfect if you wanna get to Covent Garden. I spent a Wednesday afternoon walking along the river from Borough Market to Tate Modern, past the Millennium Bridge and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and Waterloo station, and right onto the bridge. It's a nice, easy stroll. I spent a breathtaking moment just taking the London skyline in, just as the sun shined over it. It was a lovely sight, as if welcoming me back to London :) The bridge takes you between South Bank and right to Somerset House and the Covent Garden area.

It might not be much to look at, but what you can look at from atop Waterloo Bridge is mighty fine - the cheapest (free) and grandest sightseeing destination in the entire city. Things you can see while sauntering across Waterloo Bridge's unobstructed walkways: - the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament) - St Stephen's Clocktower (Big Ben) - the London Eye - the OXO tower - Somerset House - the Victoria Embankment - St Paul's Cathedral - Barbican - the Gherkin - Canary Wharf - BT Tower - the Royal Courts of Justice's spire Other things you can see: - the IMAX cinema - Strata (at Elephant & Castle) - the Shard (set to be the tallest building in Europe, but building is still in process) - the Royal National Theatre* - the Royal Festival Hall* - Queen Elizabeth Hall* - the whole of the Southbank - miscellaneous other grand-looking buildings Simply put, the view from Waterloo Bridge on a clear day/evening is breathtaking. I'd liken it to walking across the Brooklyn Bridge (from Brooklyn to Manhattan, that is). But, in my opinion, this walk is much more magnificent. And it's much less taxing; I mean, it will only take you about 5 minutes to walk across at a full-on pace. Plus, there's a spot at the south-west side of the bridge where you can see Big Ben smack through the middle of the London Eye. Best little-known picture op in London. *These buildings are lit up in differing colours at night and look amazing.

I don't think that is anything amazing about the Waterloo Bridge. For some reason it is a sight in London, but it's just like any other bridge along the Thames. It's the closest bridge if you want to have a walk around Southbank or visit the London Eye. I like Larissa's tips about things to see from there, but to be honest you can see from other bridges or much cooler places.

This is a lesser known bridge but has amazing view on both sides where you can see historic buildings,the new London skyscrapers and the London eye. I still remember the walk, it truly was memorable.

Oh God, you can see almost every sight in London by just walking on the bridge and enjoying the view! (but don't think London doesn't have that much :)) Places that you'll be able to see: the Palace of Westminster (also known as Houses of Parliament), Big Ben, the London Eye, the OXO tower, Somerset House, the Victoria Embankment, St Paul's Cathedral, Canary Wharf and BT Tower. The view is gorgeous!

Exceptionally constructed landmark with spectacular views of London. Standing there and marveling at the London Eye is astonishing and seeing Big Ben is amazing. We got there from the tube (Embankment Station) and just nearby the station is a fabulous wine bar Gordon's Wine Bar that is a must see.I believe the bar has been there for over 150 years and is established as the oldest wine bar in London.

I like to walk across this bridge in winter with a sense of purpose and feel like Bridget Jones in the movie. Sad but true. Yes I am reviewing a bridge. But I really, really like this bridge. The only reason I'm not five staring it is because some idiot keeps on digging it up so I can't cycle across it. It's a damn ugly bridge though. Very useful, you know, for crossing the river and such but they could have at least made it look a little prettier.

If I had to pick ONE place that makes me go, "Wow...I'm really in London" it would be walking on this bridge. It has nothing to do with the architecture- compared to the other bridges in the city it's rather unremarkable- but the sweeping, picture-perfect views of London. It's almost a miracle that the bridge has been positioned in a way where one can view all the major attractions of South Bank and Big Ben to the west and spot all the top skyscrapers, notable monuments and all of further-afield Canary Wharf eastward in one place. What you could pay $40 for in the London Eye you can get for free on this bridge. Come for sunrise or sunset and let the scenery take your breath away.

A great vantage point of the whole of the main city skyline. The best place for pictures of the best sunsets in London. And it's where I would want to just loo afar and relax my eyes. It's such a nice place, with the breeze just brushing your face, it's a place I can just let go, to be myself, to be alone. This is therapeutic and just makes me feel so alive again.

Waterloo, waterloo, there's not much there for me and you, after all it's named after Napoleon's big defeat. But on the other side of the bridge, there are many locations worth your time. I'm glad I dont have to take a boat to go to the other side of the Thames, and in that sense this bridge is really useful, after all that's what bridges are for right? PS: It must be bloody cold crossing the river at this time of year, brrrrr

Made immortal (at least for me) by a Kinks song, the sunset as seen from Waterloo Bridge is one of London's most sublime pleasures. There's an almost abstract quality to the play of sun on the Houses of Parliament, elevating their rib-like cladding to a kind of crystal. The buildings seem to glow in certain light. It's marvellous. As for the bridge itself, it was not made immortal by a 1940s B movie sharing its name (best avoided). Crossing Waterloo Bridge is, however, one of my favourite afternoon jaunts, reminding me when perhaps a bit down on my environs of the particular genius of English order. Nothing seems hasty, all is functional, elegance is reserved and must be appreciated in specifically executed angles and in the smoothness of an archway. The structure is a kind of perfection and merits both contemplation and admiration.

Crossing Waterloo Bridge, whether it be by foot , on a bus, or driving my own car, always has the same effect - it rekindles that love of London, the excitement, the buzz that makes living in the city so special. It's like a living picture postcard with views to Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Somerset House, and my nighttime favourite, the National Theatre. I choose the later for its coloured lighting, which sees the otherwise simple and somewhat ugly concrete block vibrantly illuminated. In fact, crossing the bridge at night is my favourite time for it, when all the building's are accentuated by their lighting. There is something magic about Waterloo Bridge, it's a reminder of London life - cross it, soak in the view and time might momentarily stop whilst you remind yourself you're here, you're part of London and all its absolute glory.

I feel like my 3-star rating is decreasing the average score given to this bridge. It scores highly not for its architecture or historic value, but for its location. Right between Big Ben and Tower Bridge, Waterloo bridge exists. Larissa makes a list of the things you can see from this bridge, so I won't repeat it. However, I have to note that while it has a decent view of the London Eye and Parliament, I don't recommend it as the viewing point for the New Years fireworks. The bridge is perpendicular to the London Eye, so while the crowd facing it can see a row of explosions, the bridge people only get to see the one on the side. So, if you're in London for Jan 1, I recommend not standing here. Also, the sidewalk ('pavement') on the southeast side of the bridge has been widened, but is still a bit dangerous to walk along, since it's so narrow. Be careful people. I've seen a cyclist get hit by a car around there. Also also, the crosswalk at the north end of the bridge is annoyingly far from the bus stop. The intersection is dangerous, too.

In my opinion, Waterloo Bridge has the best view of London. If you stop in the middle and look to the West you can see the Houses of Parliament, London Eye, Jubilee Bridge and the hustle and bustle of the Southbank. If you look to the East you can see the Shard and all the other wonderful skyscrapers as well as St Paul's Cathedral! I love it. One of my fave spots in London!

I love this bridge. It has once of the best free views of London and the sky can be breathtaking at sunrise/sunset. Yes there are other places to view London that possibly have better views but you'll have to pay, or queue or fight other people to get to the view. Here you can stand and admire London at any time you want. Morning or night.

The entire London skyline, the soft clouds, the enriched cultured rains the dismissive sun and the ancient Thames all in the palms of your hands. And then the bridge that reaches over and says welcome, reflect in my presence, taste the history and leave your own mark, embed me in your own life- existence. A master piece of its own. remarkable. breathe taking. unique.

King of the London bridges, connecting covent garden to the southbank, although of course it is quicker to walk over the pedestrian bridge at embankment because of the 'spokes' of the bridge radiating out from the centre of the southbank (if you are travelling from near trafalgar square). In other words, they are closer together southside, so you walk less. Anyway, great view of the houses of p, the eye, and the river itself. It can get very very breezy so you may suffer if you don't have a hat. For access to the nft there are stairs down left and right, and to get to the bus stop quickly if you're in the nft, take the 'spiral' staircase up from outside the old entrance.

I want my ashes scattered off here. It's my favourite place in the world. I cannot travel across this bridge without breaking into a beaming smile. An amazing view. London Squee.

Great view of the city, but an understated bridge overall. Glad I got a chance to check it out, while I was in the area checking out other attractions.

Quite simply the best bridge to walk accross. At night. For the view. It cannot fail to take your breath away. If you are out on a date and you want to know if you should make it a second take that lucky lad or lass to the middle of Waterloo bridge after nightfall. Kiss them. If you don't get butterflies then, you never will. Move on!! Crazybut oh, so true!!

Not the fanciest of the bridges of London , but they all have their own , special character the varity is what makes it interesting . The views are unbeatable . Its built on a bend in the river and it allows you to see everything .

I am not a huge fan of this bridge. I suppose it is because the heavy traffic drowns out the pleasure. The views are terrific and if it was less noisy, it would be a nice place to sketch. After all those recommendations here I am going to go in the evening and see if I can change my mind. Personally I like the charm of Southwark Bridge, nice and quiet, lovely view and you don't get the hoards of people and all that traffic. I wonder if it is a good bridge to watch fireworks from? This bridge was actually built by women! I shall give it 10/10 for that then!

I'm a big fan of a stroll on the lovely bridges of London, Blackfriars is my favourite but Waterloo isn't far behind. Mainly because it is surrounded by so many of the city's main landmarks, making for a spectacular view. To the West you have the Embankment, leading along the Thames towards Parliament and a good view of alot of people with a great view of you on the London Eye. Look out to the East and you can see the fine work of Sir Christopher Wren and his mighty St Pauls Cathedral, surrounded by the modern day spires and high-rise buildings. You also have on the South Bank the National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall. Go in the evenings or if you're up for it, early mornings, it's rewarding.

Waterloo bridge offers one of the best views alon the Thames. I recommend a visit at sunset, to capture a great view of the capital city!

It is true that the pavement is bit narrow, but that is not such a big disadvantage having in mind things you can se while strolling along this bridge. Great view that is for sure.
