I came here in a busy season which was maybe a mistake. The food had an hour wait although we had been warned about this as there was a problem in the kitchen so that was ok (also it is not normally like this). Despite that, the beer and food was lovely. I had the pie which is quite expensive compared to others but still lovely. The staff were very friendly and offered us free crisps due to the long wait. Would recommend.

A lovely pub, nice selection of beers from the brewery, great outdoor area with part protected with windows and roof if the weathers a little grey and an area with multiple tables and umbrellas. We didn't eat here but the food looked really good, home cooked food with one side dedicated just for eating but you can eat outside too. Great staff and very welcoming, definitely worth a visit if nearby.

A great place to stay if you have a dog or don’t mind being around dogs. | A pleasant, comfortable room with just a few niggles ; a mirror placed in a corner near the door not close to any sockets for hair drying, a pungent air freshener that was placed in a drawer for the duration of our stay and noticeable grubby / scuff marks on door frames and doors. Otherwise very clean generally.|The beers were well kept and tasty and the food hearty and plentiful.|A very handy location for visiting Windermere.

Lovely stay here, all staff very friendly and helpful. ||Good quality breakfast served hot and was delicious. ||Evening meal very well presented. . Would recommend the fish and chips and also homemade steak pie.||Very comfortable rooms, stayed in rooms 7 and 8 with a balcony catching the afternoon sun. Walk in showers in both rooms, tea and coffee making facilities and a comfy double bed. ||Around a 10 minute drive to Lake Windermere. ||Would highly recommend.

Lovely, comfortable pub with friendly, welcoming staff. The food is great too, with generous portion sizes. Had a pint of Collie Wobbles too - delicious and refreshing. Will definitely be coming back!

The drinks reasonably priced, the food seriously over priced. I had the steak and Ale pie, wasn't really a pie, some nice pieces of beef but just a square of hard pastry on top and a portion of over cooked chips. A few pence short of £20. Wife had chilly con carne with rice, no flavour really and very watery. I believe this was £ 17. VERY DISAPPOINTED.|I'm not sure why this place has so many good reviews regarding food. The pricing suggests your going to be blown away with it but total rip off.

Stopped off for food as the other places we tried were full. I had a roast dinner costing nearly twenty pound. When it arrived the pork looked nice but no flavor, the yorkshire was sat in the gravy and the roast potatoes had bee re heated in a microwave. The veg had been shown the water but not cooked. Over priced and not nice.

We stopped in for a bite to eat on our way back from touring the Lakes, and we’re so glad we did. We had our elderly mother-in-law with us in a wheelchair, and she can be quite particular — but the staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. It was easy to find a table, service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Both my wife and I cleared our plates, and even our mother-in-law ate more than usual! We don’t often have desserts, but couldn’t resist — they were just as delicious. My only regret was not being able to try the beers as I was driving, but there’s always next time. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
Friendly staff, great beers & food, dog friendly. This is a proper pub, just like they should be. Lots of seating inside and a good few tables outside for that rare day of sunshine. The beer is excellent, their commitment to this is demonstrated by their own onsite brewery and the great selection of handpulls. The food is good standard pub fare with a few more modern options like nachos and curry on the menu too. Fish and chips was a popular choice with our group along with steak and ale pie. They have specials on the blackboards every day. There is a small car park and more spaces along the lane so no problems parking. They are dog friendly and the whole place is generally full of well behaved and gorgeous ones. Staff are friendly and helpful so all in all a great place to stop if you are in the area.

Yelp
The Watermill is a traditional pub, with different rooms spreading out from a double sided bar in the centre. It's also a microbrewery, and names all it's beers after types of dogs. Hence you have names such as Collie Wobbles and Shih Tzu faced. I had a half pint of Dog'th Vader, a dark and tasty stout, and very nice it was too. We didn't have any food, but it was a Friday night, and the place was stowed full with people having dinner, so it seems to be very popular. The guy who served us probably could have been a little bit friendlier, but he probably gets stick to death of stupid people like us laughing over the dog themed names. Or maybe he was just feeling a bit ruff.

Yelp
A great pub tucked away in the small village of Ings near Kendal. They have a microbrewery on site where they produce just delights as 'colliewoobles' beer and 'A bit of ruff'. they also specialise in selling other beers brewed locally. The food is really good and reasonably priced, I would especially recommend going on their steak nights where you get to select your piece of steak to be cooked. It's a dog pub though, so expect furry friends under tables or at the bar (most are very well behaved though). I look forward to a meal here every time I'm in Cumbria.
