Waters Edge was included in a flight and accom package, it wasn’t cheap. ||For the 2 of us with a couple of days hire car we found it a great location and we managed that hill with no problems. ||Prior to arriving Michelle had sent us lots of information via mobile which was great. We had a good sized room with a balcony, a great view over the harbour and pool. Definetly 3 star accommodation with the room looking very tired. Only tea, coffe sachets provided and handwash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. One small dishwashing sachet. Able to have these refilled when needed.$5 hire for beach towels, the room was not serviced for the 7 days, we washed our bath towels in the washing machine provided. Had hairdryer, iron, no indoor table and chair, but lovely eating on the balcony. ||We were in and out everyday, the pool was clean and we swam a couple of times in the afternoon. The spa did not entice us due to the cleanliness. Waters Edge suited our needs.

We were very happy with the condition of the rooms as well as the view. The location was amazing; a very short walk into town (minus the uphill climb back.) staff were very friendly whenever we needed anything. Our kettle wasn’t working properly but they gave us a new one right away, we had a bit of an ant problem but they gave us a bug spray to use. They also gave us a later checkout free of charge to make it easier for us with two toddlers. The only thing we were disappointed with in these newly refurbished apartments was that there was no TV in the main bedroom, just a sign that said ‘coming soon.’ It’s also got an uphill driveway plus another uphill walk getting to it from the street. If you’re elderly or travelling with pram-age kids, I would take this into consideration. The walk up isn’t too bad, but if you’re holding a toddler, it is exhausting! All of Airlie was hilly though, which we found out & other apartments are even higher up the hill. But it’s worth noting . Otherwise we had a great week there. Kids loved the huge balcony too. We weren’t able to use the pools as there was no end shallow enough for my 1 & 3 year olds & also a pool towel hire charge which I think should’ve been included in the nightly rates. Overall, we were happy with the apartment.

The property is impeccably clean, and the two beautiful pools are perfect for swimming or simply unwinding by the water. One delightful surprise is the occasional visit from stunning cockatoos, which adds a unique touch of charm to your stay. That said, the resort does show signs of age in some areas. The curtains are noticeably old, and there was a rather unsettling idol on the balcony. Additionally, while the gym is clean and functional, it’s quite small and may not suit those looking for a more extensive workout. Despite these minor drawbacks, the resort’s serene atmosphere and charming natural touches make it a lovely getaway. Whether you're enjoying the pools, the cleanliness, or an unplanned encounter with a cockatoo, there’s plenty to appreciate at Waters Edge.

Michelle at the front desk was wonderful, she helped us out of a touch spot at another hotel and was able to give us wonderful tour ideas and activities to try. Just absolutely amazing service all around from her. The room itself was amazing too. On short notice the only room left was not renovated but still very nice and the view was just incredible from the 4th floor. They have 3 different pools (including a smaller one for some of the older kids) plus a spa, all of which overlook the ocean. I only have good things to say about this place, our family holiday wouldn't have been the same without it and that's all thanks to Michelle.

Had a lovely stay at Waters Edge. Well appointed apartments that are clean, spacious, and comfortable, with inviting décor and gorgeous views. One of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve ever slept on! Beautiful vibe to the whole property, gardens and landscaping features are well tended to and looked after. Location is ideal, just up the hill from the main streets in town and across the road from Woolworth’s for a quick grocery run. Gorgeous infinity pool and spa were a lovely treat after a day out in town. Fitness centre is a nice touch, a bit basic but still nice to have on site. Absolutely loved my stay at Waters Edge and would highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone visiting Airlie Beach. 🌺

Michelle on reception was the absolutely the best, she saved our holiday by putting us up in a fantastic room last minute. She is friendly & knowledgeable of all the tours and local attractions. She booked us into the best experiences on offer, which made our stay wonderful. The resort has the best views of Airlie beach & the pool was delicious. Would definitely come back to stay at this central location.

We were impressed with the views, the size of the apartments and the great kitchen! The location is perfect. I don't get the negative reviews, we found it extremely comfortable and clean. Perhaps that's the renovation? Definitely great value for money!

Worst smelling rooms and toilets!!!! I recently stayed at the and it quite frankly ruined my vacation. From the moment I checked in, I sensed something was off. The lobby had an unpleasant smell that seemed to cling to your clothes, and the front desk staff looked as if they had just rolled out of bed. Once I got to my room, I was greeted by mouldy walls and appalling tiles with stains, that looked like it hadn’t seen a mopped in years. But the worst was yet to come. Within hours of arriving, I started developing an itchy rash all over my body. I initially brushed it off as allergies, but by the second day, it was full-blown chaos. My arms looked like a pizza with extra pepperoni! I approached the staff for help, and they were anything but accommodating. They suggested that I try mosquito spray instead of addressing the apparent issue with the cleanliness of the room. As if a it would magically fix what was clearly some sort of contamination! I spent the rest of my stay dousing myself in calamine lotion and trying to enjoy my vacation while resembling a human caldron of discomfort. The pool area looked nice in photos but was filled with people who were puffed up like balloons – I couldn’t tell if they were there for relaxation or further rash development. In summary, if you're looking for a place that will provide you with a rash and a lot of regrets, the Relax Inn is your top choice! I would recommend staying far, far away unless you want to add “rashes” to your list of vacation memories. Instead, save your money and your skin, and find somewhere – anywhere – else to book!

Yelp
Beside the blasting view nothing else would make me again book this hotel. You are charged 5$ per towel for the pool, the room was old. We had an appartement at the edge of the building, part view on the backyard filled with old painting pot and construction left over, not very nice for such kind of hotel!!! Additionally at breakfast you need to pay for a tea or a coffee!!! I am not recommending it all, especially when there are much better hotels in town at similar prices

Yelp
Not the newest place (looks like it was built in the 80's), but our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom rental had a large wrap-around balcony with outdoor seating, a sizable kitchen with nearby kitchen table, and a fairly big indoor seating area with couches/TV and wall to wall glass (with curtains you can close, of course). Air-Con: The air-con was multi-zone, allowing the shared living areas and each bedroom to have their own set temperature, which was nice. TIP - It doesn't work unless you put one of the keys in the slot by the front door, and will shut off if you take the key when you leave. So if you're feeling like an energy glutton, just get two keys...and just leave one in all the time. View/Location: The view from the higher up rooms is beautiful, and the view from the lower rooms and infinity pool is very nice as well. The walk from the main strip, albeit a bit uphill, is very short. I would definitely stay here again. Other: The room had a combined washer dryer which can be set to wash your clothes and automatically switch to the drying cycle while you're out on the town. I'm really looking forward to those becoming more popular in the USA.

Yelp
First, let me say that this hotel is beautiful and does have amazing views, spacious rooms and a very kind accommodating manager. Those are the reasons why I did not rate this hotel any lower than what I've given it. My family and I stayed at Waters Edge for 10 days. During that time, we experienced several issues, some of which in the end, we decided to just live with. The first night- the room smelled of cigarette smoke and located at the edge of the resort so bombarded with street noise making it intolerable for a decent nights' rest (we have a 2-year-old who was kept awake from the street noise and due to medical issues had trouble breathing with the residual smoke). The next morning, we asked to be relocated and the manager kindly accepted our request. The following night the AC unit in our master bedroom beeped in 30 second to minute long intervals. No amount of turning it on and off or playing with the remote for two hours or researching the manual online made a difference. There were also about a hundred or so ants emitting from the unit, swarming over the ceiling into the closet and ending in the shower. We decided to spend the night in the second room with our son. Unfortunately, any parent can tell you that even despite your efforts to be silent, your child WILL wake and NEVER go back to sleep. Guess what happened. Due to the lack of sleep and irritability that following morning we decided to forgo our original planned tour outing. My husband went again downstairs and requested either the AC unit be fixed, or we could find another room. The manager was again, extremely accommodating and let us view several rooms prior to another change. We viewed three rooms and including the two we had previously stayed in, ALL five had ants. This is a tropical area, so bugs and insects are to be expected. The level at which the ants have taken residence is very concerning. The solution to this issue is the staff will spay with a standard bug spray from over the counter, ventilate the room and vacuum. This does not solve the problem as the ants are back after 6-8 hours of spraying and ventilating. We decided based on the room size to stick with our second room as the AC unit had been fixed. One of the staff members left a spay can in the closet so instead of calling them every 6 hours, both my husband and I sprayed and cleaned up every 6 hours. Not what I want to be doing on my vacation. On day three we were finally able to book a cruise to the Whitsunday Islands and try to begin our vacation. It was a lovely cruise and did help in setting the tone for the rest of our stay. A few more side notes to consider before booking your stay here: 1) The breakfast is simple: toast, cereal, yogurt and fruit. They offer specialized coffee i.e cappuccino but for the same or higher price than if you were to go to a coffee shop. 2) You are expected to pay for a cleaning service and towels. 3) The internet could not be trusted, and we were out of communication primarily for the remainder of our stay in QLD. Though I don't generally mind being "unplugged" and some even prefer it; I would appreciate the option in case of issues or necessity. Now, if you only plan on staying a day or two or it's just you and a friend this may just be amazing for you. It is surrounded by nightlife and does have a "singles" or 20 somethings vibe to it. The manager does also provide excellent recommendations for restaurants and shopping. This all to be said, both my husband and I are very disappointed in what we felt was false advertising. This is NOT a 3 or 4 star resort. Having to pay for amenities, bug infested rooms, minimal internet and minimal breakfast with high coffee prices was unexpected and very disappointing. When we checked out the manager was very gracious about our check and I believe did the best within his reach of the policies per this establishment. The policies and level of cleanliness of this hotel do not make this a 3 or 4 star resort. Had we known, we wouldn't have booked it.
