The bad reviews for this hotel are accurate. They’re unapologetically charging hotel prices for hostel accommodations.
I was quoted a total price of $460 for two nights over the phone. I asked if taxes & pet fees were included in that price and they confirmed it was. Then they charged me $100 more and tried to gaslight me into believing that the quoted price was pre-tax. I don’t really have patience for outright lies.
Then, the room itself was simple and the beds were comfortable. The guest houses, rooms, lobby, and pool are dated. Upon check-in some basic things were noticeable. Wall-mounted soap and shampoo were empty, bugs and spider webs in building entry (pictures attached), and general musty/cigarette smell lingering in common areas.
As noted in their signage, we requested our room be freshened when we left for a hike at 8:30am. We returned at 2pm and it had not been done. I requested it be freshened again by walking to the front desk (because nobody answered the phone). They again confirmed it would be done by 5pm. We went out for a swim, a snack, explored town and came back at 4:45pm to see it still wasn’t done. I enquired at the desk, again, and was told, “Our cleaning staff is too busy preparing for our priority guests, you know, like the tours.”
At the time of writing, I provided this feedback to the hotel and received a lukewarm response. It appears they are understaffed and booking over the capacity they can manage. I understand that tourist towns have a difficult time retaining staff, but there are multiple pathways to improve quality & service without lying about rates and withholding basic services. The entire experience was disappointing, customer service didn’t offer a resolution, and I doubt it will improve for anyone who stays here in the future.
