5 unique heartland malls in Singapore worth a visit - SilverKris

"Set beside the waterway that links the Punggol and Serangoon reservoirs on Punggol’s northeastern edge, this mixed residential-and-retail development offers pleasant outdoor scenery and a boardwalk that provides peaceful relief from indoor shopping, complementing its retail and dining options with waterfront views." - Dannon Har

We recently took a trip to Waterway Point Mall with my wife and our little one, and it turned out to be a pretty good spot for a family outing. It's conveniently located right by the Punggol MRT, so getting there was a breeze. We spent a good chunk of time letting our son burn off some energy at the playgrounds on the second floor – there's both a dry and a wet area, which was a nice surprise. It's great to see a mall that genuinely caters to families with young kids, making it easy for them to have some fun while we get some shopping done. The mall itself has a decent selection of shops and eateries. We grabbed a casual meal at one of the many food places, and there was plenty to choose from. I also appreciated how it connects directly to the Punggol Waterway, offering a pleasant outdoor space for a stroll if you want a break from the indoor hustle. We didn't catch a movie this time, but it's good to know Shaw Theatres is there for future visits, especially with the IMAX option. Overall, it's a solid choice for a weekend with the family, offering a good balance of retail, dining, and kid-friendly activities.

Waterway Point has always been one of those malls that feels both spacious and lively at the same time. Located right next to Punggol Waterway Park, it’s got that rare combination of shopping convenience and scenic vibes — you can literally finish a coffee and be strolling by the water in under five minutes. The mall itself is bright, airy, and well laid out, with a good mix of retail, dining, and lifestyle options. Whether you’re here for groceries, a quick meal, or a movie, everything is within easy reach. Dining choices range from casual cafes to family restaurants, and there’s even a decent variety of dessert spots for that after-meal treat. I especially like how there are plenty of seating areas, making it easy to take a breather between shops. What’s really nice is the way Waterway Point integrates with its surroundings — the outdoor boardwalk and park connectors make it feel less like a concrete mall and more like part of the community. On weekends, you’ll see families with kids playing in the open areas, joggers passing through, and couples taking in the riverside sunset. All in all, it’s not just a shopping destination but a place to unwind, hang out, and enjoy the Punggol waterfront. Whether you’re here to shop, eat, or just soak in the relaxing atmosphere, Waterway Point delivers a complete day-out experience.

I slipped and had a bad fall when walking past the LiHo stall. Someone had spilled their drink and there was no one there to warn or guide passersby. I am giving the benefit of the doubt that the staff might have been getting a caution sign BUT someone should have been stationed there to alert people. This is really unacceptable. I cant imagine what would happen if it were an elderly person. Is the management prepared to take accountability for what happened?

Waterway Point is one of my favourite neighbourhood malls. It is much bigger than other nearby malls such as Compass One and Nex Serangoon Mall. I have always enjoyed grabbing stuffs at don don donki, ntuc and uniqlo store. Air fresher in the ladies toilet is nice. This is a comfortable and spacious mall to shop and eat.

First time visiting Waterway point with relatives. The mall is fabulous! Lots of food choices and the extensive outdoor area by the river is very refreshing. Lots of families and kids playing while we are enjoying a snack.

Was there for a fun walk at the park connector. Good place to walk, as the exits are near. There’s easy access to rest stops for toilets and food. Pcn connected to active sg facilities. Wall murals to learn about he history of the places.
