Came here for dinner, the food was so good I went back for brunch the next day. The vietnamese noodle soup with chicken (coconut curry type) was maybe the best thing I’ve ever had. Pastries were excellent. Service was also very good. They really know what they are doing here. Do yourself a favor and check them out for any meal.

Google
Delicious drinks & food! Full bar…my husband said his Bloody Mary was very good. I love their chai lattes. The service staff is nice & friendly. They also have bakery items & other goods for sale.

We love stopping by here to pick up desserts before visiting with friends. All the desserts we've tried so far have been terrific(5 for food). The staff is really nice and accommodating. They get an overall 4 because of the way their space is set up and for lack of posted pricing. The way the space is set up makes for a little bit of crowding at their counter, and if there are more than two people it's hard to tell who is next(4 for atmosphere). Also, their pastries have no prices posted, they only have a piece of paper behind the counter for their staff to read (4 for service). We recently stopped in for brunch, the food was terrific and service was also great.

Google
This place was a complete gem. Everything we had was exquisite. It’s quaint and wholesome. We tried the Vietnamese noodles, Bon me, pork and duck pate, cubano sandwich on a gluten free bun and the flavors were incredible. Highly recommend the cubano. We ended with a gluten-free banana pudding that was delightful

Went for my birthday brunch on a Sunday for the first time. Can't tell enough how good this place is! Everything is perfect, really. Staff is super friendly, ambient is very very cozy and food is simply amazing, delicious and with big portions. The best chai latte I have ever had!! This place deserve a trophy! Will come back for sure.

Google
This is a sweet cafe housed in a historic old mill. The water wheel is still functional and available to see for those who are interested. The food was quite good. Ample seating both indoor and out. Service was fast, though drink refills did not get attended. I recommend the Vietnamese Noodle Bowl. Very tasty!

Google
Very nice location with historical significance. The ambiance is quite nice. We liked the bakery area but were seated in the bar area due to space limitations. Nothing wrong with the bar room with the exception of the foul smell coming from the restroom. Service was nice and the food was mostly enjoyable. We liked the Burger and Chicken & Waffle. However, the Vietnamese sandwich was disappointing - good quality bread and veggies but the roast pork was stale. Also, you won't find 🍟 here. Overall, I'm willing to visit again.

Google
Place is absolutely incredible. Delicious food&drinks, amazing staff and atmosphere! Unmatched dining experience especially for this area ( pike county PA ). On top of the restaurant being great they also have an I house bakery and coffee shop that’s out of this world. If you’re in the area and looking for a delicious bite to eat this is hands down the best spot. One problem is the lines to get in on the weekend for that I give a 4 for atmosphere!

Yelp
I witnessed an incredibly disappointing display of poor leadership and disrespect at this establishment. The issue arose over the heat not being turned on. It wasn't even particularly cold, but the owner seemed to use the situation as an excuse to grandstand. Initially, he was performing over-the-top customer service, apologizing profusely to four older women about the heat. While this might seem courteous on the surface, it quickly devolved into something else entirely. He loudly commented--within earshot of his staff--"I don't know why the heat isn't on," in a tone dripping with passive aggression. After this dramatic display, he stormed back to the counter and barked at his young female employees, using a scathing voice to demand, "Why the fuck isn't the heat on?" It was so jarring that I literally stopped in my tracks, shocked by how he spoke to them. This was not leadership; it was bullying. I moved to this town for its small-town friendliness and to escape the impersonal harshness of the city. Behavior like this is a stark reminder that money can open a business, but it can't buy the acumen--or decency--required to run one effectively and respectfully. Sure, this could have been a "teachable moment" about maintaining the environment for customers. But any lesson was lost in the owner's/managers (tall older gentleman drive a Subaru accent with a Steelers plate) utter lack of professionalism. A more respectful, composed approach would have shown leadership. Instead, his actions were a glaring example of what not to do. Disrespecting staff in front of customers isn't just unacceptable--it's bad for business. I sincerely hope this person reflects on how their behavior undermines the values of the very community they chose to serve. As a hospitality professional this isn't cool. This kind of behavior is unfortunately rampant especially where employment is hard to come by. As far as the food. Had the Vietnamese spring rolls once. They were not good. The person worn me was Vietnamese and said they were inedible and we sent them back. Fish sauce was poor quality as well. Had a dessert today. The chocolate pecan bar made warm. It was tasty. Espresso seemed a little burnt. Would probably get coffee elsewhere. Do love the bar in the back for cocktails.

Yelp
Absolutely a must the next time you find yourself in Milford, PA. They have strategically positioned the baked goods; cookies, cannoli and bread in a place you walk by to get to your table, or pass by on your way out. Somehow we resisted the urge... Our Server, Danielle took care of the important things first , a bloody for my Wife and a Boddington's for me. On to our entrees; grilled Rueben for the Mrs. and a Chicken Parm sandwich for me with a side Caesar salad. Everything was; fresh, delicious, clearly homemade. The quaintness of the old mill, to the cafe area, and the bar only add to the charm. We look forward to returning, and more than likely for dinner next time. You guessed it, this place is a must do!

Yelp
Waterwheel Cafe and Bar - 5 Stars Such a charming spot in PA! The cozy, rustic wooden interiors create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. I loved the vibe of this place, perfect for a casual meal with friends. We had a bit of a wait (about 20 minutes) before being seated, but it was well worth it! I started with the Vietnamese coffee, which was fresh and light, with a hint of sweetness already added--just how I like it! For my meal, I had the Banh Mi sandwich. It needed a touch of salt and some hot sauce, but once adjusted, it was absolutely delicious. Although I didn't personally try everything, I snapped a few pictures of the dishes my friends ordered, and everything looked fantastic. We were all very happy with our meals, and it's great that they had decent vegetarian options available. Our server was friendly and pleasant, making the whole experience even better. It's a wonderful spot for conversation, and we had a great time. Highly recommend this cute gem!

Yelp
A truly unique museum plus brunch-spot. I certainly recommend it for that alone. Let's dive in ... Ambiance (5/5): This place has a legitimate working waterwheel which is absolutely stunning and so cool to experience! They provide some history and you can self-guide through the first floor and upstairs with light reading on plaques. The overall restaurant footprint is quite large and wraps around in a weird way but it was great because our party of 7 barely waited for a table and we were a large group. Food (4/5): Tasty food for the most part. One member of the party got this green matcha kind of tea and it was phenomenal! Someone else got potato pancakes and lox with a dill spread with their order and it hit nice for a good hangover meal. My western omelette with potatoes was as expected but that's not a bad thing. Service (5/5): This was a meal to celebrate a member of our party's milestone birthday so when I told our server they were incredibly kind and brought out a chocolate dessert with a candle after the meal -- which was a nice surprise! TL;DR: Worth stopping in for a bite and to see some genuine local history!

Yelp
We've been to Waterwheel Cafe several times over the past few years, usually after some hiking. We come back over and over again for the croissant French toast with berry sauce. It's fantastic and worth the calorie indulgence. We've also really liked their chicken salad sandwich. Other things we've tried have been fine, but nothing exceptional. I found all of the drinks to be underwhelming. Prices are fair, and service is good. The wheel is a cute thing to look at at least once. Solid option if you're in the area.

Yelp
Great place!!! My husband and I stopped for a small breakfast on our trip. It's just a charming place with truly delicious food, very friendly helpful staff and its own special charm. Thanks a lot, guys! Special thanks to our super nice, positive and funny waiter whose name I can't remember, but you know who I mean;)

Rich R.

Yelp
I went here for takeout bakery items only. Wow was I pleasantly surprised. Upon walking in, I was not sure if I was the correct place. After taking a peek a little Further in, I saw all the bakery items. They had a large selection that should accommodate many different tastes. Everything looked great. Cannolis are filled to order. I brought the pastry to a party and all the guests loved them I will be coming back to try the food.

Yelp
Best Chai latte I have ever had in my life! They sell the chai they use so you can make it at home. My daughter loved taking the tour of the waterwheel it was a little creepy in certain areas upstairs but cool at the same time. We stopped by for a snack after a nearby hike can't wait to come back.

Yelp
The WW has been a staple in our home town for over 30 years. Same owners, same great food and service. Onwers are generous to our community. Over the years, they have employed hundreds of local young people and have no doubt, influenced their work ethic for their future. From breakfast, brunch, lunch/dinner, coffee/desserts, they never disappoint. We love going there and know you will, too. 10 plus stars

Marianne R.

Yelp
We really wanted to enjoy this place. Cocktails and appetizers were good. I ordered steak au poive medium, it arrived very rare. I couldn't catch the waiter but finally got someone else to take it back. It arrived even more raw and now I couldn't catch the waiter or the other guy. After literally waving my arms for help the waiter dropped a menu in front of me.... I said I prefer what I ordered cooked medium ... it arrived well done with bland sauce. ZERO empathy from staff for my horrible experience.

Carol P.

Yelp
Everything is awesome. Food, service, drinks, people, atmosphere, price. Desserts! Oh boy!! We love it!!

John B.

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese food, friendly service. My family goes out of its way to eat here. Great baked goods too.

Merav I.

Yelp
This place is definitely worth a stop! Everyone working there was pleasant, they had good coffee and pie, and you get to do a little tour of the old mill which within the building. Felt like a unique place enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.

Yelp
We live in Dingmans Ferry, and this is our go to spot. It's cute, cozy, excellent service even when busy. Love the menu and specials. Always a great variety of staples and Vietnamese inspired dishes. Plus you can always pick up some local goods or a pastry if ur just passing through town.

Eileen O.

Yelp
Food and service is amazing, but the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Would not like to see the men's stall under a black light after hearing my husband's description, and there is no lock on the women's room stalls.

Michele K.

Yelp
The food is delicious - the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant is my go to - and the ambiance is great. The unique feature of dining in a restaurant that actually has a waterwheel that you can visit after your meal is an added benefit.

Patricia S.

Yelp
Wonderful baked goods friendly and accommodating staff Would definitely recommend and will be back next time in town

Kelsey B.

Yelp
I loved the bar and restaurant! I was greeted with a clean, beautiful dim lit old timey feel restaurant and an extremely warm welcome by the staff. The service was on point and my champagne came in no time. I was nervous as my mother was late and she had no issue seating me without a full party. My mother had the steak and I had the penne ala vodka which were both delicious. Steak was perfectly cooked and the penne sauce was clearly homemade. Olive tapenade with the fresh bread basket is a nice touch, too. I will definitely be back to this hidden gem!

Rebekah H.

Yelp
This place is excellent! I don't usually leave reviews but this one deserved it. The service was friendly and SO respectful-- they were watchful of coffee refills but not overbearing with that. The feel of the place is quiet and sweet-- the music is there but not too loud. and the food was INCREDIBL. Latte, omelets, sourdough bread, raspberry cheese croissant were 10/10. Well Done, Waterwheel!!!

Jayce And Ivy V.

Yelp
There was good service, people were nice and food was very good. The view of the river was cool. The rainbow cookies from the bakery were very good. The only downside was there was no kids menu. Ivy - I had the crème brûlée French toast which was a 9/10, it was a little burnt or it would have been a 10. Jayce - I had the cheese burger which was a 8/10.

Janelle M.

Yelp
I actually found this place on my Bring Fido app. I was looking for a place that allowed dogs since we had our furry friend with us. The patio is really nice & parts of it are shaded. And it looks like each table is limited to 2-4 seats. Our dog was super annoying & prefers to lay as far from us as possible which means in the isle where there's heavy traffic. Even though our dog was in the way the whole time the servers didn't seem to mind at all & just walked over & around him. And they brought him a water bowl. My husband & I both got an omelette w/potatoes & no toast. Pretty standard, nothing mind blowing. Our total was $18.95, so prices are pretty reasonable. Their lunch & dinner menu sounds good too so we'll definitely be back to try'em out.

Joy D.

Yelp
Awesome food, fresh, excellent quality, Desserts are the BEST. Also check out the historic self guided tour of the water wheel! I would come here again and again!!!

Al M.

Yelp
Delicious! Fresh homemade food with reasonable portion and quaint seating. Cute little shops around.

H M R.

Yelp
The menu was an unexpected surprise. The food was delicious and the service excellent. After eating we toured the old mill. It was a really great day.

Brad D.

Yelp
Always an enjoyable time with great food and friendly service. We split an appetizer and had duck and a pasta dish and both were delicious and arrived at the table hot. Berry pie to top off the meal. One of favorite places for lunch or dinner.

Richard A.

Yelp
I live nearby and it's been one of my go to places for years. You will always get a delicious meal, served by really a friendly and warm staff and the prices are very reasonable.

Dottie W.

Yelp
Amazing baked goods that keep me off my diet. The food is the BEST! Love the bar with the little museum and the acoustics in the bar is fabulous while sipping the best vodka martini shaken in a martini glass with shaken ice on the side. This place does everything right.

Dondria B.

Yelp
The staff is super friendly! We are visiting from Texas. We ordered the Cuban sandwiches and they were just "ok". The bread was toasted way too hard. Forgot to take a picture of desert but the caramel apple crumble and apple pie was delicious.

Vaughan O.

Yelp
The sardine banh mi was really, really good. I ate here on my first day in town and was tempted to come back the next day to order the same thing again before leaving town. Friendly service, and the baked goods looked great, though I didn't have any.

Louis R.

Yelp
Wow!!! What a find. If I didn't get a recommendation I would have missed this place. Once you find it you will be back. Great atmosphere and wonderful variety on the menu. If you leave without a box of goodie's from the bakery I pity you.

Pamela M.

Yelp
Location is beautiful. Service was great And the food and coffees were excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Mike S.

Yelp
Had the Bánh Mì with pork and asked for it spicy. All the ingredients were fresh but there was no Viet Nam there. Bland with a small splash of what appeared to be sriracha sauce with American style macaroni salad as a side. An Asian style noodle side would have been nice. I'd go back when I'm in the area and I'd recommend it to others with a note to avoid the Asian menu items.

Jillian N.

Yelp
The people that run this place are the nicest I've come across the food is delightful and the atmosphere is unique and interesting

Andrew W.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. Really historic building and healthy menu choices. The owners are wonderful people

Anusha R.

Yelp
Good spot for lunch.. the vegan burger's made without any preservatives (even if they are, I didn't get that taste) and it's delish!!! The mochacchino is a must try.. P.S: impressive bakery goods.. I'm sold on the pecan pie and pecan cookie

Melanie B.

Yelp
Tried here for the first time for breakfast. Friendly outgoing staff and inside look is nice and also historic.Breakfast was good and will have to go back to try their lunch menu as they have Vietnamese dishes as well. Interesting!

Chris J.

Yelp
Beautiful dinner night at waterwheel, my son delivers there and told us about it so we drove up to check it out. Super friendly staff !!! Very rustic decor...Unique menu. We love the Vietnamese dishes. Food was amazing!! Dessert menu was pretty big selection! Thank you waterwheel for a great night it was worth the drive !

Darliene H.

Yelp
August 13 Made my way to "the best cafe" in the area. Sadly I was wrong. Welcomed with rude customer service. The attitude was appalling. I walked in with a decently sized party. I understand that we all wouldn't be able to be sat. The waitress didn't even ask if we wanted us to wait. I was just dismissed and told we wouldn't be able to eat

Courtney B.

Yelp
Amazing !!! Food was delicious! The French toast was absolutely out of this world the fruit was so fresh and sweet! Sausage was great and bacon and of course the mimosas !! Ambiance was dope !!! Owners and staff amazing !!!

Wanchee L.

Yelp
Good restaurant serving sandwiches, soups, salads, and other American food. We both ordered salad with protein and enjoyed them. There was a wait time of about 20 minutes to get in during Saturday lunch time. The desserts were delicious. Very reasonable prices.

Deborah L.

Yelp
Great food and service ! Always has a great selection of things to try . Love the eggs Benedict. Great muffins and friendly staff.

Meg T.

Yelp
Please just take the Vietnamese options off the menu and stick to what you know. I tried the noodles, the bowl and the bahn mi and all of them were hard to eat. The noodles weren't cooked, tofu wasn't fried like advertised and the rice bowl was just atrocious and tasted like fishy feet. I liked the atmosphere overall but really please take these options off the menu. No one should be eating these. It's a mockery of Vietnamese food and left us all grossly disappointed.

Bethany K.

Yelp
We visited on Mother's Day and had a wonderful brunch. Everyone found something on the menu that they loved.

Adam F.

Yelp
Excellent pastry selection. Offered samples too. Good breakfast and brunch options. Off the beaten path a bit.

Semranjit S.

Yelp
We were so excited to dine here but we waiting exactly 1 hr and 45 minutes and they still weren't seating us. New people would come in and get seated while we waiting outside in the cold. When asked for wait time the staff was extremely rude and ignored us.

Shelly I.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Happened to arrive in time for the Saturday specials! Crème Brûlée French Toast with pumpkin maple syrup. The best French Toast I have ever had! It was warm enough to sit outside on the deck. Came back from Rhode Island for lunch a few days later and again, delicious food and deserts!

Sara B.

Yelp
This is an adorable country cafe in such a cute town! I had no idea that this area was so quaint until I stumbled in while visiting the Sussex county area. The menu has traditional lunch fare - sandwiches, salads and soups. There is also a counter with freshly baked goods. Per our server's suggestion I ordered a chicken salad wrap. The chicken salad was fresh and delicious and I loved the addition of sweet grapes. Chicken salad is my favorite always, but not every restaurant does it right. This was definitely some of the better chicken salad that I've tried! My husband had a Cuban sandwich and also loved it. I sampled some and was also a big fan - the roast pork was super tender and flavorful. Both sandwiches were large and made for a very filling lunch. They offer a small drink menu with some craft beer options. A nice treat, and I didn't expect to see that in this type of cafe setting. Knocking off a star because service was very slow. It took forever for us to get our food which was a little frustrating. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the food here!

Adriana F.

Yelp
Waterwheel is doing the whole social distancing thing so right: spaced out tables inside and outside on their deck, all employees are wearing masks, and all diners have to wear masks when not seated at their tables. The breakfast menu has been updated and is not as extensive as the old breakfast menu, but I'm praying that once Covid is over they'll revert back to the old. My new favorite breakfast go-to is the B.L.A.T. (bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato on a wonderful, freshly baked croissant. And if you are still hesitant about dining indoors, they are still doing take-out orders and curbside pick-up. Try one of their many daily soup selections. Our favorite one to bring home is the beef barley.
