I visited Wattura Resort a few weeks ago and stayed in one of their suites with my family. Overall, we had a pleasant stay with a few highlights as well as some areas that could use improvement.
Positives:
The location is absolutely beautiful and serene.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The room was clean and comfortable.
They thoughtfully arranged a cot for our little baby.
The washroom was spotless and well-maintained.
The complimentary cake arranged for our celebration was a lovely gesture that we truly appreciated.
Areas for Improvement:
(Sharing this based on our experience at other resorts in a similar price range)
The food was the main area of disappointment. There was no buffet, and the à la carte menu had very limited options. Some dishes tasted quite bland, and portion sizes were rather small. The menu seemed to focus more on bread and carbohydrate-heavy items, with fewer protein and vegetable options. Including more balanced, flavourful, and varied dishes would make a big difference. Even small touches, like offering ice cream or a wider dessert selection, could really enhance the dining experience. Additionally, the hot chocolate we tried was overly sweet. The biriyani which we had for lunch just had a few pieces of chicken mixed in the rice and no additional portion such as a chicken thigh or breast which is usually included in chicken biriyani.
Although the menu was limited, the staff member who took our order didn’t seem very familiar with the dishes available.
When we left, no one spoke to us and handed over the invoice. We also forgot to ask. But then we had to write back to them multiple times to get an invoice for our stay. I feel the hotel should be more responsible for this for their documentation and to send off their guests properly.
Overall, while the setting was lovely, we didn’t quite feel the special or memorable experience we’ve had at other similar resorts.
This resort is a good option for families with children who’d enjoy the water park, but I hope the management takes note to improve the food variety and quality — it has great potential to offer a more well-rounded and satisfying experience
