One night stay as we passed through. Room was comfy with fridge, tv, shower, WiFi etc although it was very slow. We ate in the bistro as very little else around. The meal was like a buffet and whilst fine it was basic. Friendly staff though and Hyden itself is worth a little stroll around. Check out the local bakery for breakfast

The Wave Rock Hotel in Hyden was a pleasant surprise. The room was well equipped with very comfortable beds, and the hotel also features a restaurant with a bar. The menu is good, and it’s a fun experience to prepare your own meat dish on the grill. Wi-Fi does not work in the rooms but is available in the main building, where you also find comfortable lounge areas. A small pool adds to the amenities. Considering the remote Outback location, the overall impression was surprisingly positive.

Apparently built from 1966, the hotel has advanced architectural elements more like those found in 1970s grandiose constructions one might find in Broome or the southwest. The main building has soaring columns and rooflines and facilities for 3 restaurants, several lounges that are now largely unused it seems. ||The area now used for evening meals features an historic menu from the 1970s on the wall that fooled us. The real menu is at the counter and the night we stayed there was mainly huge parmigianas, cook your own steak with salad bar and a buffet. The buffet food was well herbed and seasoned. ||The grand main building is not matched by the motel units. However the units are comfy and we had a good sleep. ||The hotel seems to operate in a restricted more traditional Aussie pub way hence the title.

Start with the positives: Excellent location, conveniently located between Perth and Esperance. Lovely Irish lady on the desk with bags of enthusiasm. Very quiet, which is a plus. Negatives: the room itself was dusty, especially the headboard. Coated. Room had been lazily hoovered. The bathroom full of hairs, it's just disappointing. Aircon broken in our room too. No wifi in the rooms either. There's cheaper places around Hyden that we've stayed at that do offer both aircon and wifi. Restaurant was okay, $35 for an average chicken parm with a huge wedge of plastic in the middle. Wouldn't rush to stay, or eat, here again, unfortunately.

Accommodation at Wave Rock is tight, book here way in advance. This pub is unique 1970s, good rooms and great staff. The bar and dining is a hoot. Old school cook your own steaks, get in early, we got the last 2 T bones and I could have auctioned them off! Plenty of other cuts. Want onions? They're in a bowl with a knife. Great salads and hot veg options. Enjoy the architecture and the Rock is astounding.

Stayed here for 1 night. Comfy bed. Clean room. We were in room 34 so car not parked out front of our room, but we just emptied it to be safe. Walls are thin! Could hear everything from next rooms but everyone was respectful so no loud music etc. nice bar area and staff very helpful. Enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

Good choice as there isn't a lot to choose from. Great evening meal. Be aware of very limited phone coverage so don't rely on Google maps! We did and ended up driving on a gravel road for about 300km NOT FUN!!

Yelp
This Hotel Motel is in Hyden and is a three star motel offering both standard and executive accommodation. The famous "The Wave" on Hyden Rock is a landform shaped in a giant surf wave of multicoloured granite about to crash onto the bush below. It is a must see for visitors in WA. Even though it is a massive rock just looking at it is amazing of how it was formed and the colours. We stayed in this Motel for work and when we pulled up in the parking I was pleasantly surprised, set in WA's wheat belt region this motel is a cute country style motel which has 57 comfortable units. All units have private facilities, televisions, telephones, heating / cooling, tea and coffee making facilities and toasters with all these facilities it makes it a home away from home! There are also Executive Suites which features a spa, mini-bar, luxury fittings and a private courtyard. The motel also has a gym and a beautiful pool :) You have a wide range of choice for food as this Motel has not one, not two but THREE restaurants in it! The Bush Bistro, The Gimlet and The Sandalwood. We dined in The Bush Bistro which is very unique where they offer a grill and salad style meal. For the grill you choose you own type of meat ranging from Chicken, all types of steak, lamb, pork etc and is an experience on it's own as you GRILL YOUR OWN MEAT! This is an amazing concept and very cool for a country town. The Sandalwood Restaurant offers buffet-style dining, catering for large groups and functions. On selected evenings, a la carte dining is available in The Gimlet Restaurant. The Hotel bar was awesome! The bar staff was so friendly and chatted to us and had a drink ready for when we had finished our current drink. Amazing! We had lots of fun having a few drinks and chatting to other visitors and locals. The bar also featured a pool table and a juke box which we had fun playing pool and tunes and experiencing the country life :) The whole decor of the motel is country style yet has some modern touches. The rooms themselves were very modern and comfortable and I had an amazing sleep in my room which I felt like I was in my own bed, that never happens! I even bought my own pillow which I never used as the pillows were very comfy already. The bathrooms were clean and very modern I think they had renovated. Check out the pics :) I would highly and I mean highly recommend staying at the Wave Rock Motel as it is comfortable country living and a home away from home :)
