Most of the hospitality staff around hyden are out on working visas & doing their mandatory regional work employed by the same person/company.
They are rude, unhelpful & dont know about cleanliness.
Wave rock itself was great to see but very run down with no maintenance done anywhere for a long time, paying for the privilege is a rip off & didnt see anyone checking for tickets.
Arrived at the motel for our 1 night stay opened the door to the room, there was everything you needed except somewhere to put your bags, lucky there was a spare bed to put our stuff on as no room for bags, the room & bathroom were not clean, plastic wrappers on floor, shower screen dirty, hair on floor, coffee cup stuck to the cupboard.
Had the oldest barely working air con.
The bed was big & comfy.
Had laundry facilities but would be wary as they were covered in dust & dirt.
Was told restaurant opened at 6pm so we found the bar as signage is very poor ,wanted to have a few beers prior to dinner,we walked into the bar, dirty, sticky tables but the beer was cold, ventured into what they misleadingly call the restaurant, this is not a restaurant its barely a bistro, asked one of the girls for a menu she pointed to a chalk board & said "its there" i said "thats the bar menu" she replied abruptly " thats it"
On the menu was overpriced chicken parmi $35,fish & chips, lasagne, prawn plate & 2 kids meals,,thats it.
We walked out disgusted & went next door to the servo & got a beef burger & chips $14 each,it was good & a lot cleaner than the motel, the young guy also a new arrival on working visa.
Surrounds of hotel were dirty, untidy & trip hazards everywhere .
If you dont have to stay at hyden dont.
We also went to have a swim in the salt pools at the resort,it was disgusting, not anyone in sight, unmaintained site, its like they have run out of money & just dont care.
See the rock & just keep driving.
