We were part of a group of about 40 who went on a snorkeling tour, 8 am-4 pm, on a weekday in August 2025. The boat took about an hour to get from Port Douglas to the Opal Reef part of the Great Barrier Reef, where we snorkeled for an hour in each of three different spots. The crew were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Snorkeling equipment was provided, and the tour met the needs of experienced and novice snorkelers alike. Lunch and refreshments were also provided, and they were able to meet various dietary needs, including gluten free for people with Celiac. The crew photographer took ~250 beautiful photos and shared them online via Drop Box at no added cost. An amazing experience, highly recommend.

We had a stellar day with the Wavelength crew and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reef adventure. The team was so professional and tailored the day to all their guests. They supply all you need for a good time, with access to a photo album at the end of the day! We had al the pleasure to see dolphins on the way to the reef and many whales on the way back to Port Douglas. What a treat!

This wavelength snorkel experience was the highlight of my time in Port Douglas. The skipper, crew, and marine biologist were very knowledgeable and did an amazing job with guiding us through the day and best places to see the coral and fish. We went to three different parts of the reef and spent an hour at each location. At the second location the marine biologist gave a guided tour which I highly recommend. The coral and the fish were absolutely gorgeous. They took photos for us which was amazing since we didn’t bring a camera and it was an experience we will never forget. They offer food and tea between each stop which was amazing. If you get motion sick, make sure to take some medication before hand as it is a 90 minute ride to the reef and it can get choppy on the water. I highly recommend wavelength and will be coming back in the future!

We took the reef tour yesterday and what a phenomenal day if was! Absolutely stunning weather and of course the reef is sheer beauty all by itself anyway. The crew are beyond lovely, every single one of them works so hard to make it the most incredible experience. Snorkeling on the great barrier reef, not something you get to do often! I am a far from confident swimmer but the sheer care that was taken is beyond words, I felt perfectly safe and can't thank everyone enough. If you're in Port Douglas and looking for a tour then this is the one! Can't end without mentioning the high quality snacks and lunch with plenty of hot drinks at regular intervals. It would be very easy to provide a low quality lunch and cut corners but this just didn't happen here. Real good quality food!

I have been out on the reef several times and this was the best trip I have had. The staff on the boat were not only friendly but very knowledgeable as well. It was great that the number of people on the boat is kept small and there is no constant upsell during the day as I have experienced elsewhere. There are marine biologists on board so you can learn as much or as little as you like about the reef. What I loved the most is that at the end of the day, you get a folder of professionally taken photos taken at the each of the sites you stop at on the day so you have high quality images of the things you have seen. No more dodgy photos on a poor quality underwater camera!

We had an amazing day with Wavelength Reef Cruise, travelling to the outer reef. We visited three different reefs and saw an incredible variety of marine life. Three out of four crew members are Marine Biologists so they were happy to share their knowledge about the reef and its life. But what struck me most was the level of care the crew showed to their guests. They managed to accommodate all kinds of needs — from different experience levels and age ranges to individual issues and concerns. Nothing seemed to be too much of a problem for the crew! Thank you so very much! We truly enjoyed the experience.

I had the best time ever at the Great Barrier Reef! We visited three different sites, and the last one was definitely the highlight. We could see the reef so clearly. The crew were absolutely fantastic and took great care of everyone on board. As a solo traveller, I was a bit hesitant to get back into the water after a previous diving incident, but thanks to the crew’s support and encouragement, I felt safe and was able to fully enjoy the experience. I even captured some amazing underwater photos! I’m so grateful to the entire team. The food was decent—not a hot buffet, as they’re aiming to reduce food waste, which I respect. If you don’t have a diving camera, don’t worry as they will take care of the photos for you!

A lovely experience exploring the reef. The staff were knowledgeable, and the boat was the perfect size for the group. The reefs we visited were beautiful, full of all the creatures you yearn to see—sea turtles, clownfish, small sharks, and vibrant coral. The food was as expected: tea between stops, accompanied by croissants and cookies, and a delightful sub sandwich for lunch. During lunch staff provided a in-depth mini lecture on the reef. Highly recommend booking wavelength for your next experience!
