I think It's a great hotel to stay, the hotel's pretty quiet and the interiors are designed with Art Deco. I really like the interior of it, not too modern and feeling cozy. The staff is very friendly and patiently explained to me when I have questions. I really recommend this hotel it's really niceee.

We stayed here for 3 nights with room 3 at first floor. The room was clean & spacious. It was a great location, walking distance to major attractions.

Nice location, close to major attractions, but soundproofing was bad. Although easy check in and out, it was just much noisier than expected. There were kids running around screaming in the hall at 12 plus 1am. All 5 of us couldn't sleep all night and left at 6am for breakfast before checking out at 8.30am. Lots of decent food places around too.

Great location, by the river. Everything is literally a walking distance. Rooms are clean, no foul smell, the toilet is spacious, and the lighting is adequately comfortable. Pillow density needs to be a lot firmer and plumper. Service is quick. Response fast to issues and they have polite staff. Thanks for carrying luggage for me! Will visit again.

Guest house is near jonker street which is a +1! Just that room are not really sound proof so can hear people walking and talking. Took the room with balcony and then realised that the balcony is connected to the walkway outside which means the balcony wasn’t a private own room balcony. The room we book was located above the bars and pubs which means at night there will be noise be blasting till late night. Since it’s a guest house, u get what u pay for so dun expect much from it. Service was pretty good when you ask questions, staffs will usually reply u asap

Wayfarer Guest House Melaka. In a word NOISY. Good bits first: rooms are clean, tidy, and nicely decorated in heritage style. Beds comfortable and well-made. Towels and sheets clean and in good condition. Person-less check-in quick and easy from all the WhatsApp info sent over in advance. Aircon effective, surprisingly few mosquitoes in room, shower mediocre, balcony overlooking river shaky in places and unlikely to pass a structural inspection, but otherwise a nice feature. Location is central which, depending on your needs, is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing: you're in the heart of cultural Melaka / Malacca and just a few minutes walk from all the sights, smells, and sounds. Joncker St night market 3min walk, bars and restaurant back onto river so seconds away. The bad bits / the Curse: All this means that the nightlife sounds will prevent you sleeping. Admittedly we were only there for one night, so our experience may not be representative, but our experience did include several nearby loud sources of thumping music to around 2am. But what about earplugs I hear you exclaim, such an easy fix to a common problem! To which I'd reply; our experience included earplugs!! And those did little to reduce the noise, and nothing to isolate our upstairs neighbours stumbling in blind drunk at 3am, then shouting to each other and crashing around their room. The house renovation does guests no favours here as it's just the floorboards separating the rooms, no insulation / ceiling whatsoever. I did go and bang on their door, having already been considerably sleep-deprived and was greeted by two drunk Indian gentlemen in their underpants and flipflops. They were, for some reason, keen to stress there were only two of them in the room, and not the herd of wildebeest it had sounded like. We then had a fairly gentle discussion about the need for sleep with family downstairs etc, which they appeared to take on board. Anyway, they kept up their cattle ranchery for a little longer before, presumably, passing out. We finally settled down to sleep at around 4am, with night music still pumping out somewhere, only to be roused at 7am by the canteen opening on the Ground floor (it had been closed as we arrived so we had no clue it was there) with happy chatter and scraping chairs percolating up through the light well into our bathroom. Our upstairs friends' last contribution to our stay was to kick over a bottle of water which then dripped down through floorboards onto my bed. I'm fairly, though not 100% sure it wasn't urine. All in all, if you consider sleep to be for the dead, and enjoy heritage architecture with close access to the attractions, this place will suit you down to the ground. Me? Next time I'll get a hotel several streets away and ensure that, this time, I'm on the top floor.

Customer service very considerate and nice! Location is easily accessible and central, parking spot recommended is very cheap and closeby. Room is tastefully decorated and the shower is strong and amazing. AC is strong and cold. Balcony is beautiful facing the river. The biggest downside was the thin ceiling walls, we could hear the occupants upstairs all the time and also at night, it was horrible - surrounded by bars that plays crazy loud Indian club music to almost 2am.. boom boom boom all night - how to sleep peacefully? It is quite ridiculous, on a Thursday night with not much customers at all, playing such music so loud is insane. It is not even a club, just a bar. Can’t relax and enjoy the serenity that the river provides.. we requested extra pillows as there’s only one pillow provided for each guest, it was granted immediately and happily, however the pillows have a stale cigarette smoke smell 🫣 anyway luckily we only stayed one night.
