The Most Exciting Hotel Openings of 2023

"This box-fresh opening in Waikiki, a neighborhood in Hawaii's capital Honolulu, is set right on the Ala Wai canal. Interior designers The Vanguard Theory have brought the island into the interiors here; all natural furniture and tons of greenery that take the edge off the Brutalist architecture. There's a coffee shop, pool bar and an outpost of Redfish, an island-favorite poke spot–just eight minutes' stroll from the beach."

Wayfinder Waikiki (Honolulu, Hawaii) 13 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s a long way, both literally and figuratively, from Rhode Island to Hawaii. But the sequel to the original Wayfinder in Newport finds itself in Honolulu, a city which, for all its charms, hasn’t seen a hotel this hip in half a century or more. Wayfinder Waikiki is set on the canal side of the Waikiki Beach strip, a short walk from the beach itself, in a midcentury building that used to house a more conventional hotel." - Tablet Hotels

We had a wonderful 4 night stay here for the Waikiki leg of our Hawaii trip. Friendly staff--we felt very welcomed even with our late check in. We stayed in one of the Wayfinder Suites, which was perfect for a family with young kids. Comfy beds, spacious rooms, tastefully funky and bright decor, and we loved the kitchenette and balcony space. We appreciated all the little touches like the record player, the robes and slippers, and the welcome snacks and drinks waiting on the room. The kids loved the pool area. It was a nice place to relax, and the perfect size--not too big like some of the larger resorts that can get overwhelming, but large enough to swim around and accommodate everyone visiting and still have space. The hotel is in a great location. Close to shops, food and a short walk to the beach. We'd absolutely stay again! With or without the kids.

Stayed here to go to a concert at the shell. It was conveniently located off the Ala Wai and in more of a quiet area if you want to avoid the strip. We got welcome tokens to get drinks as the pool bar Lost and Found. I got a local IPA and it was delicious. We stored our bags at the front desk while we waited for our room and headed to the concert. The hotel called when our room was ready and offered to take our items up to the room. The room was a corner unit with nice mauka views. It was a nice and clean room with complimentary water and snacks. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Wade and his team really make you feel welcomed here.

Everything about my stay last month was excellent. From check in to check out, all of the staff were helpful and friendly. The cleaning staff did a great job every day, and all of the listed amenities were available including towels and beach supplies. I especially appreciated the free sunscreen and iced tea at the pool! Being a few blocks from the beach was no problem, and the location has great views of the sunrise over the mountains. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back!

Google
Exceptional! My husband and enjoyed our visit. We only stayed one night, but everything was superb and high-end furnishings retro Hawaiian we liked that it wasn’t on the busy strip, but easily accessible to the beach and local action. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay here again. Next time we come.

Google
We had a wonderful stay at Wayfinder. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even tidied up our room and gave us fresh towels everyday. We stayed in the penthouse and it was a heavenly experience. The food on the property was great, as well as the pool area. The location was lovely, just a little bit off the super busy area of waikiki but still within walking distance from everything you could need. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Waikiki.

Google
The hotel is located close to downtown Waikiki totally within walking distance and the service is top notch. The restaurant, coffee bar, and bar downstairs are all fantastic. So many reviews mention street noise and they aren’t wrong but we travel with a sound machine and it definitely covered the noise and we didn’t notice, or the hotel provides ear plugs just in case. It was a great room and the hotel experience had been great. The cost of parking is astronomical, so mentally prepare for that, but the valets are TRULY the best and worth it. It will cost you as much as your rental car does, but if you park your car they save a space even if valet is full and that is SO worth it.

Google
I'm mad at myself for not booking this place for the whole time we were in Waikiki. It's small and it's right in the city, and you would think that would make it chaotic and noisy. But it was just such a delightful stay. They did a great job making it feel like the tropical getaway I imagined, and the place really felt like a little community. The pool was warm, the other guests and staff were all wonderful. The amenities were excellent. Really appreciated the beach chairs and towels, and the honeymoon special they gave my husband and I was so thoughtful. There were tons of little touches that showed they really cared about giving guests a great experience - like a record player and great records to play on it in our room, free classes in the mornings, and large quantities of sunscreen, aloe, and fruit water by the pool. The cocktails at the lost and found bar (what a cute idea to combine the lost and found with a bar) were so good. The poke at the hotel was probably the best we had while we were in Hawaii. Also, it was such a short walk to shopping AND Waikiki beach. Don't waste money on the big, bloated, overpriced hotels like Prince. Just stay here, you'll have a way better time. I know I will next time I'm in Honolulu!

Google
Absolutely LOVE this hotel and wish I stayed here for my whole trip! From the decor to the staff to the vibes to the space it ticks every single box! Probably the only hotel on our trip worth charging a resort fee too in order to use the facilities! The cafe and breakfast on site was amazing! The food is incredible! I’m so impressed and will def return! Beautifully situated right by the lake too and a short walk to beach and all the fun you need!

Yelp
Wow I'm so glad I got to see it first hand what they did with this place! Former Waikiki Sand Villa has completely transformed into a retro, hip resort called Wayfinder Waikiki. It's all in the DETAILS!! From the Gyotaku (Japanese fish painting) shower curtains to retro style kitchenette with GMEG branded fridge and kettle, everything is well thought out. Sofas with palaka (Hawaiian checker design) motif, beautifully designed pool towels, pikake & mokihana garlands on the lamp cables, historic Hawaii photos in the walls, thoughtful surprise hidden inside the record cover(Spotify playlist for your paradise vacay vibe)... it goes on and on with every detail. Downstairs has a surprisingly large and quiet pool surrounded by a lush tropical greens that you almost forget that you're in the heart of Waikiki. Love that they didn't skimp on the furniture and went all out with the wooden lounger. Not using the typical stripe pool towel like everyone else, they provide the beautifully designed lush Hawaiian green towels instead. Nicely done! Everywhere you look there's a special touch at this place and I was pleasantly surprised to find it tucked away right at Ala Wai & Kanekapolei. Bonus- there's a restaurant downstairs, Red Fish, by Foodland. You know what that means!! Poke is on point‼. There's a poke flight with three choices. Look at my beautiful spread of two orders of poke flights, garden salad and rice The valet parking is $6 if you're dining there... definitely with the try

Yelp
My recent stay at Wayfinder Waikiki from June 13 to June 20, 2024. Several issues significantly affected our experience. Firstly, only one of the two elevators was operational throughout our entire 8-day stay, causing excessive delays and frustration. This inefficiency resulted in a considerable waste of time, estimated at over 15-20 minutes per day. Additionally, we experienced issues with housekeeping. Our shower gel was removed without replacement, shampoo was not refilled, and one bed was left without sheets. Despite contacting the front desk and being assured of prompt assistance, no one arrived, and we had to sleep without proper bedding. I also sent an email to Wayfinder and waited for 4 business days for a response (the automated email said they would respond within 48 hours). There has been no reply. Very disappointing.

Yelp
Price point isn't worth the experience. 1. I recommend moving the bed to see the disgusting filth that lies beneath. The room was not properly cleaned prior to my 3 day stay here and almost every other experience just added to me being frustrated enough to leave a review. 2. Everything is under construction, it is so loud starting at 8:30am right outside the window, I could have stuck my hand out to touched the construction guys they were so close. 3. Elevators out of order 4. Valet took 20 minutes to get car at one point 5. Phone in room doesn't work 6. WiFi doesn't work 7. No one ever answers the phone if you call their number from your phone so you have to go down to get towels or anything you may need I asked for 4 towels they brought 2 so I had to go get 2 more because the damn phone doesn't work. Staff is nice but incompetent. I left headphones in the room and they said they were checking then let me sit in the lobby for 20+ minutes until I found another staff member to go look directly himself. And the water pressure is horrendous.

P. C.

Yelp
Stayed here for 4 nights. Front desk NEVER picks up the phone, ever. That's wild to me since I always see someone there as I leave the hotel for the day. Valet usually has one person working and it makes it inefficient because there is only one lane to get out of the hotel and you're waiting in a line of 2-3 cars in front of you. Lobby is cute, but the rooms look like they got the manager special, paint over old blemished wood, toilets and bathtubs are rusted. The sliding door doesn't have a good seal so the wind howls at night. Rooms are DIRTY. Stickers on furniture from previous hotel guests. I even found old wristbands from a club next to chairs in our room. They're doing the bare minimum here which is probably just changing out towels and making the bed, i'm afraid. There is a nice and clean gym. I also liked the pool area. Other than that, would not stay here again.

Yelp
You will find yourself so annoyed staying here. they never answer the phone calls or room services. They don't reply to emails. If you have a rental car. You won't get any parking cause the valet always full and you're forced to find parking elsewhere and street parking always full. Or couple blocks away. if you don't need a car you will be ok booking a stay here. Don't have enough towels in the room so you have to go looking for someone to get fresh towels. Rooms are small and tight as pictured. The floors could be swept a little more. The shower drainage needs to be suction out. Overall it's okay stay if no car needed. Staff employees pleasant in person. Pro close to walking distance to international market. You can find parking there $60 a whole day. and so many shops around. Beach about 10-15min walk.

Yelp
I loved this hotel. Great location with nearby bars, restaurants, stores, and the beach. The overall decor of the hotel and rooms were a vibe. Inside the hotel is a coffee bar, restaurant, and bar by the pool. They have daily happy hours multiple times throughout the day which is a plus on vacation. There's no parking lot and the curbside entrance is pretty narrow. The rooms also don't have the best lighting and no microwave. Overall I would recommend hotel. The staff was nice and the location was perfect. Seems like there was a mixed crowd of business, personal, and family travel staying here.

Yelp
Honeymooned here & spent a whole week. I just want to point out a few staff members that made our time here so enjoyable. Ayami was beyond kind & personable & gave the warmest welcome & suggestions for things around to do. Charles at valet was incredibly kind & professional. Amber (both Ambers) at the Redfish were so sweet. Emerald was also extremely sweet with gifting us a few goodies in our room to make our stay even more special. Truthfully, all staff members were so easy to work with and so welcoming. I could honestly go on & on about how amazing our experience was, but let's just say for now we're already planning our next trip & we will def be staying at the Wayfinder again! Thank you again!!!

Yelp
The pool suite is worth the upgrade. Pro: extra space, bigger refrigerator, espresso machine, microwave, record player, little kitchenette with breakfast table and complimentary goodies (Hawaiian popcorn, 2 cans of wine and water bottles). I came here with my family and pool suite was perfect being in front of the pool. Additionally, can be perfect for a bachelorette party vibes because this place very instagrammable. The price, California rate parking 22.50 and location is perfect. You cant find cheaper parking than 22.50, street parking hard to come by. We walked to international market place and beach daily! The hotel was redone, the quality of the bedding, towels and toiletries is excellent.

Yelp
Amazing location. Excellent restaurant Redfish on the first floor. Close to shops and the beaches. Larger pool than most other hotels. Very modern. Bike rentals nearby. Electric car available for rent.

Yelp
The customer service here was phenomenal. From check in to staff at the pool even the valet. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful whenever needed. My wife and I had a wonderful stay here. Would definitely recommend if you want to be near all there is to offer in Waikiki while also being out the way of the heavy tourist crowd. Also the Redfish restaurant food was superb! Major shoutout to the waiters and chefs. If I were to critique anything it would be daily sweeps of the room floors without having to request it as the proximity to the beach is a recipe for sandy floors.

Yelp
On our 1st visit to Hawaii we chose the Wayfinder Waikiki. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We arrived early in the morning before check in and the hotel watched out luggage for us, and we explored the Waikiki They have a restaurant in the hotel that is open 6am to 10pm Pool side bar open 10am to 10pm and the coffee shop 6am to 5pm. We used all of these amenities and thoroughly enjoyed them. They have body boards for your trip to the beach and towels for you to use. Our stay here was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this hotel

Yelp
Great happy hour old fashioned for $8 and Kendall was very friendly! Went back again for the old fashioned and had the happy hour burger($12). It had great flavor but was over cooked. It's only a 4 oz patty so doesn't need long. Extra $5 for fries which were cooked crispy so that was good. Very cute bar in the middle of a boutique hotel so will definitely come back - for the drinks!

Yelp
One of the best stays in a hotel we have had in a while! The views of the canal are insane, the decor is so cute and the staff (especially David) we're incredible. Like literally the nicest most helpful people I've ever met. We had such a great experience, we decided that we will stay at the Wayfinder each time we are in Hawaii. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

Mary B.

Yelp
It was a boutique hotel with resort like feeling. Complimentary sunblock and aloe daily, help urself to what u need. Along with a great bar and pool. A filtered water dispenser near checkin that was actually cold. We stayed here for our 6 night Hawaii trip and the room and hotel didn't disappoint great value for ur money. We also stayed at the Aulani resort for one night and I must say Disney needs to take notes from the wayfinder in wakiki;)

Yelp
I'm sorry y'all but this is just not it. With a few promising reviews and nice pictures of the hotel, my girlfriend and I thought it'd be nice to stay here for our vacation before I deploy this year. Unfortunately, since we got here, it has been pretty awful. We'll start with the few positives that I can point out. The design and branding of the hotel works well. It seems that the developer used a Honolulu-based interior design firm, and it shows through the aesthetically pleasing photos of the hotel, and the look and feel of a hotel you want to experience in Hawaii. That being said, the experience we've had thus far is poor to say the least. Upon checking in to our room, we found it to be dirty as soon as we walked in. It looked as if the bedding was replaced and it was generally cleaned, but there was dirt on the floor, and there was a foul smell in the room. My girlfriend was disgusted and asked that we switch to a different room, and the lady at the front desk said that they were "completely booked" for the night so we'd have to wait for housekeeping to clean the room. We were told to wait about 15 mins in the lobby until it was ready. About an hour goes by, and the lady at the front desk is no longer present, so we ask the supervisor on shift if our room was ready. He called to check, and was able to assign us to a different room since it seems that they were not, in fact, "completely booked" for the night. Now onto our second room, we wanted to make sure that we were not going to run into the same issue, and without stepping more than a few feet inside, the floor was sticky, there were crumbs on the ground, and we found hair on some of the bedding and common touch areas. By this point, it had been a few hours and we were starving so we decided not to ask the front desk for yet another room in the interest of enjoying some of our first day in Hawaii. Upon returning, it was dark out and we turned on the lights only to realize there are only 2 bedside lamps for the entire room. Not sure who decided you don't need a light fixture to illuminate the areas by the door and in front of the bathroom. There is no closet in the room, nor anywhere to hang clothes, and the bathroom is about the size of 2 airplane latrines side by side. Forget about an iron or ironing board, they would have to put it under the bed to fit it anywhere in the room, especially if you don't count the the sticky spots. Generally speaking, the execution of the "renovation" to this building that is now branded as the Wayfinder Waikiki is pretty awful. As a real estate investor, I've seen a fair share of house flips that look like someone DIYed the whole project from watching an hour of YouTube videos, and parts of this hotel certainly look the part. I'm not going to get any more into depth than that because this is not a review about the quality of their finished real estate project, but as a guest of the hotel, I think others ought to know we got catfished a little by the photos of this hotel compared to what it actually looks like up close and in person. The 2 stars are for the couches in the lobby and the valet guy. We're thinking about switching hotels for the rest of our trip, because unfortunately this one isn't working out.

Sam T.

Yelp
My wife & I loved this hotel and that means a lot since our last hotel was the Wynn in Las Vegas. Ayami, Charles, Amber, Kala, Susan, Emerald and all the staff here was so kind and very helpful. The cleaning staff also kept us filled with towels and everything we requested. The valet does fill up so make sure to plan ahead of time and treat the staff kindly. We truly enjoyed our stay here and the staff made our honeymoon so special! We love Wayfinder Waikiki and will be back. Redfish was great too! We loved the poke' & burger but maybe skip the fish and chips. This hotel is a true gem! 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Such a great hotel! Excellent staff all around from the front desk to the valet & pool area, bar and housekeeping. Our room had an incredible view from the balcony. Good location, just a short walk from everything in Waikiki from the beach to restaurants and shopping including International Marketplace and Royal Hawaiian Center. Not far from Diamond Head. Clean room with comfortable bed, pillow, sheets. Their coffee bar B-Side has great coffee, baked sweets and small bites. Beautiful pool area with pretty landscaping. We loved our stay and would definitely return.

Yelp
I can't relate to the negative reviews of Wayfinder at ALL. We just stayed at Wayfinder Waikiki for about a week and had the most pleasantly impressive experience that I felt compelled to write this review. Let me start off by saying that if you're looking for a high-end luxury hotel, this is NOT it. If you book this hotel with this expectation, I can understand being disappointed. This is a smaller boutique hotel, better for people visiting on a budget, but we found that they were still able to create a trendy (but not tacky) and expensive vibe. We booked through Expedia.com in order to package our flight, hotel, and rental car into one. We were initially planning to stay at another, more expensive hotel, but when we saw that we were able to shave off about $300 per person on cost if we stayed at Wayfinder, we decided to give it a shot. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was hopeful. Wayfinder did not disappoint us at all. Wayfinder is very centrally located and about a 5 minute walk from Waikiki beach and nearby shopping centers. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the valet who was kind and accommodating. We decided to pay for valet ($45/night) as we wanted to avoid the headache of looking for street parking on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. It was well worth it. We then headed over to reception to check in. The staff was so kind and welcoming and provided us with all the information we needed to make the most of our vacation. They informed us that we could check out complimentary boogie boards, flippers, and beach towels. There was also a board posted near the elevators which informed us of all the daily events/happenings at the hotel, as well as some local activities such as the KCC Farmer's Market on Saturday. A pretty purple orchid in the room card sleeve was a nice touch. For two people, our room was the perfect size. I have definitely spent more money on smaller, less comfortable rooms at "name brand" hotels. We knew the room wouldn't be super fancy and that was okay with us as we planned to spend most of our time outdoors. That being said, it was so nice to come back to a room that was still very comfortable, had central air, a mini fridge, a cute little balcony with views of the nearby canal, and a big TV when we had down-time. Water pressure in the shower could have been a little better, but that was a minor detail for us. The decor is very quirky but that's what made it endearing in my opinion. B-side cafe in the lobby was my most frequented place in the hotel. I loved having quality coffee available for me downstairs every morning before we embarked on our adventures for the day. The staff again were so nice. I was also super impressed with all the very cute souvenirs they had available for sale for both Wayfinder and B-side. These included T-shirts, bucket hats, baseball caps, tote bags, cooler bags, mugs, water canteens, stickers, and onesies for babies. I knew I had to bring several things back for my loved ones and I was glad to have souvenirs that were not cheaply made or stereotypical. When we were not at the beach, we found the nearby pool to be a great alternative. The pool is on the smaller side due to the lower capacity of the hotel when compared to some of the bigger ones nearby, so you might have to get down early to grab a lounge chair if the pool is your plan for the day. Later in the day, the crowd starts to clear out and you are more likely to find a good spot and some quiet time in the pool or jacuzzi. We also ordered some of the cocktails and small bites available to order poolside and were really pleasantly surprised with what we ordered. We got Vietnamese-style chicken wings and mini corn dogs inspired by elote which totally fulfilled our snack cravings when we spent time at the pool. The bartender at the poolside bar was also super nice and friendly. Next to the pool, there is free sunscreen, aloe vera, iced tea, and beach towels available for use. We ate at the Redfish restaurant located in the hotel which was so convenient because it was actually on my list of recommendations from a close friend. We enjoyed the okonomiyaki fries! I had a poke bowl called the "Seoul Bowl" (aka Korean-inspired) which was super fresh and delicious. My partner had the kalua pork fried-rice which was a little bland. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Redfish and were glad that it was conveniently located within the hotel. Phew, okay. This took me a long time to write, but I was glad to do so because our experience at Wayfinder was so amazing that I felt the need to share. Wayfinder is not the right choice for everyone, but I hope that this review helps people understand what the experience at Wayfinder is like with hopes that you too can enjoy a similarly lovely vacation at an affordable price!!

Yelp
Loved this place! We enjoyed all of the amenities and everything gave off the tropical Hawaiian vibe that most people look for on vacation. There is a nice pool, a coffee shop and restaurant, and plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the vibe all around the hotel. You get a free drink token for the poolside bar when you arrive! The hotel even has GoPros and other equipment you can check out to add a little fun to your stay. The rooms were themed and even had records with a QR code to a playlist curated by the hotel. There was just enough space in the rooms to sleep, get ready for the day, or lounge around comfortably. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, especially David at the front desk! We felt like we were friends with the staff even though it was our first time interacting with them. I definitely recommend this hotel and can't wait to stay again on my next visit!

Yelp
The room is dusty and there is a spider web on the wall. No one vacuums the floor. No one comes to the room to clean the trash can. The bedroom is dark with only two light bulbs. The bathtub is dirty with molds on the grout. The bed sheets had blood stains. The floor has a lot of dust and hair. Open wifi is not secure to use.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this hotel has bad reviews but we had an excellent time. The rooms are a little small but the service was great. Everyone was super friendly and hospitable. The pool area was really nice too. It has a boutique hotel vibe. I would definitely stay here again. It's also very close to everything.

Yelp
TLDR: the website is a LIE. I'll start with the pros: the staff is genuinely kind and friendly, if not informative (more on that below). Location is fairly central, with lots of restaurants and the beach within easy walking distance. The newly renovated open-air lobby is nicely decorated and quite welcoming. We loved lounging by the pool. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended for us. CONS: This place is literally a construction zone. I wish we'd read others' reviews more closely before booking, because this isn't mentioned anywhere on the website. We paid for a corner room and were situated directly between two rooms under (loud) construction, while our "city view lanai" butted up against the restaurant construction. Construction went well past 6PM, and although we were informed the hours were 9-5 on weekdays, it started promptly at 8AM on Saturday morning. Staff was kind enough to move us to a higher floor, but we no longer had the corner room we paid extra for. The AC was struggling - our room was never cooler than 75 and was constantly humid. No microwave or ice machine in sight. The poke bar they brag about online? Yeah, that's still under construction. Your only on-site food option is the overpriced and underwhelming coffee bar. Like I said, staff was very nice, but told us nothing at check-in. According to other reviews, we were apparently able to borrow beach chairs, boogie boards, and other items, but this was never mentioned to us. When this place is finally finished, it will have potential as a trendy, budget-friendly stay. Until then, we feel completely ripped off.

Yelp
4 stars?! Yeah right.. The room was filthy when we got in, dirt all over the floor, hairs on the bed and all over. The wood molding above the bed has a half inch of dust on it. We told the front desk and left, so they sent the crew in to clean. It was exactly the same after. Then later that day we found dirty panties in the corner and a bag with a comb and nail clippers behind the bench (pretty exposed had they vacuumed at all. Not one person at the front desk seemed to care or show empathy. The ice machine on the 6th floor was ANCIENT and the part where the ice comes out was covered in black mold. Yummy. The restaurant is WAY more expensive than the surrounding area restaurants. The coffee at the coffee shop is good but the main woman working there is miserable. We asked for a cold brew with light ice and she scolded the employee for filling it to the top, yelling at him about giving us less. I understand this, but it was inappropriate, unnecessary, and did not look great on her part or the hotels part. 4 star hotels that are 300 a night should not appear to be that cheap and disciplinary. The design of the hotel was cool but it was purely surface deep and everything underneath was dated/broken/ignored. TLDR: great for a few instagram pictures, but filthy and way too expensive.

Yelp
The good: pleasantly surprised how clean it was despite being and older hotel. Remodel helped them a lot. Close to Waikiki beach, restaurants and shopping centers. Friendly staff Free rental or go pro, and beach gear. The bad: Oversell rooms (they gave my room Away despite me prepaying) Older hotel building Parking fees are crazy Housekeeping non existent

Yelp
Please do not choose this hotel. There are the main reasons not to choose. But make to long story a short, 1. No hot water for more 12 hrs. 2. Very old and small room. 3. Poor management of hotel rooms. Please do not waste your valuable money and vacation time in a dirty place.

Yelp
What a find! This fabulous boutique hotel in the heart of Waikiki has got it all: comfy & well appointed rooms, friendly & welcoming staff, excellent coffee bar & cocktail bar in the lobby. The location and value can't be beat. My room had a nice little balcony w partial view of the Ala Wai. I was also impressed with the charming, modern decor that had nice personal touches and an authentic island-style. I highly recommend for business travelers and vacationers who want to skip the resorts and opt for a more local experience. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
We arrived at our reservation got our room key for my surprise bday gift no and when we went in the room was dirty with garbage bag on the floor and the man that came running in said he hadn't cleaned it yet . However when calling the manager 5/14/23 she came up and she said the room was already cleaned . After all this we go in and the shower bath tub was backed up with water and slimmy on the floor . After calling them back to clean the tub and unclog it it was ok . However, the times they cleaned a few days later we saw how when it's clean they get a floor towel mat to come out of and have products that we didn't get for the first two days . There was a notice on day 4 that an internet repair upgrade would be done coming into rooms but accompanied by hotel representative. We came up to our room found the door cracked open just like the day we arrived but this time a man alone was in there . We asked what he was doing in there and he let us know what he was doing . However no one was monitoring or accompanying him at all and he also said he was new to his company !!! They give a tiny thin roll of toilet paper and no back up and only two towels so you have to chase them to clean the room or for more towels . I paid Rosalina a sweet lady cleaning rooms all day on the 5th floor 20$ o o have her clean and give us refill on lotion , soap , towels etc . She didn't come for two days she only refilled the lotion bottle . She was all day on that floor . I had to call and complain downstairs to have her finally clean the rooms two days after . The jacuzzi closed at ten . It's hard to get your car from valet they have all these cars parked up front so you can't leave when you want too ! They also take the pool towels away two three hours before pool closes. The restaurant was visibly open but said it was only for people at Ana event but that's was days that we couldn't get any food , just watch them all drink and eat . They didn't say their restaurant would be closed . Next time I'd rather pay more for good service and a clean room daily . I urge management to look at this as our experience was not nearly what it should have been for our first time in Hawaii and in this hotel . Next time use another app to find a recognizable name hotel !

Yelp
The Wayfinder Waikiki is a 228 room, boutique hotel on the Ala Wai. Formerly the Waikiki Sand Villa, Wayfinder retained its Brutalist architecture style while receiving a modern facelift to it's pool, rooms and signature restaurant, "Redfish Poke" by Foodland. PROS Amenities- The Wayfinder Waikiki features more amenities that a typical boutique hotel would not: Jacuzzi, a gym, a speak-easy bar and full service restaurant. They also have the "Moke" a rentable electric vehicle that you can take to travel around Waikiki. Style- The vibe is extremely boutique-ish (similar to Laylow and LaCroix). What really stood out to me is the layout of the room, which is stylish yet minimal. There is memorabilia in every room- a postcard that you can take with you to send back home to the family. Value- The average price for The Wayfinder Waikiki can range from $170 to $200 a night, which is great considering most low end hotels cost around the same for less amenities. If you call them and ask for a kamaaina rate, its even less! WORKS IN PROGRESS: Elevators- There are only 2 for the main building and depending on how many people are checking in/out, the wait can sometimes be a few minutes. The 2nd building offers their more luxurious rooms, but those are only accessible by stairs. One of my most favorite places to staycation, The Wayfinder Waikiki is a must try for Kamaaina and for those who are traveling in style. Hats off to you!

Yelp
Paid for premium room on floors 10-13, was assigned a lower price class room. When I questioned it at check-in, I was told it's the same type of room but floor 9 {the rate for the premium corner rooms specifically state floors 10-13} and have nicer views. I brought issue up again at checkout and supposedly given a $35 refund with a receipt (after I asked for one) and Still was overcharged. More work needs to be done in the guest rooms. Definitely lipstick on a pig.

Yelp
Honestly, we weren't terribly impressed with our room. It was clean, the bed was confy, but nothing terribly special. Then we went to hang out at the pool and we loved it. The pool is large and the hot tub is just hot enough. The atmosphere was very laid back and there were no screaming children. But the best of all was the bloody mary from Redfish. They make their bloody marys with sochu and gochujang, and it was easily one of the best bloody marys I've ever had. So overall the hotel is a decent place in a good location, but the lounging by the pool experience elevated it to elite.

Yelp
Thee absolute worst service ever. Nice employees but no one actually helps you, no prior notice about if you don't get the chance to get there(with flights and whatnot) by 11am there no parking for the whole next day and a walk + $60 to park at the mall. Not one person told us you needed to put in your room key into the outlet to access power in the room. It's clearly a cheap hotel with cute paint. The food is over priced and not good. Then when we tried to rent a GoPro(at 11pm) for our shark dive the next day, we were told no need to get it the night before because they never get used. ....so 9am we head down to get one. They are all rented and they couldn't care less. Absolutely not worth $1200

Yelp
First of all, there were lots of little bugs & ants everywhere around the room & even blood stains. Rooms didn't look like they were cleaned well lots of dust and hair and our room was never checked or serviced either. The trash canes provided are also very small. Unfortunately only one of the elevators was working for our 5 day trip. Still was not even being worked on when we left. There's no free self hotel parking they only offer $45 a day valet which would be fine if they were more on top of things. There was always a wait to get our car even if there was no one around & if you had called ahead before heading down to the valet as they also claim to have 24 hour service. There was only one very helpful man who worked the morning at valet. It was always noisy from other rooms and even the ac which would randomly turn on every hour. There was an instance where we had asked for extra towels to be sent to our room because we didn't have enough which took over an hour & eventually we just left because we couldn't wait and sit around for them. Another incident had happened where I talked to the front desk directly asking if they were able to microwave something for me & they had offered to send a microwave up to our room to keep in there, & then that had taken an hour and a half before I called them and asked when I could expect it to be arriving at our room at which point they said they forgot to send it. Again I wait another hour or so & call again to ask if I can just go get it myself & bring it up personally, to that they said they would check on it again. we did eventually receive it after having to call multiple times. It was always a hassle & never easy to contact front desk or get service. Especially to get toiletries as there wasn't enough even upon arrival. I never got my deposit back either which was promised at check-in. Bottom line I will not be coming back mainly because of the terrible service and how dirty everything always was.

Yelp
I'm updating my review. The hotel contacted me and I greatly appreciated their action to accommodate me and the issue I reported during my stay. Overall, I was pleased with my stay. My view was lovely and all the staff at the hotel were friendly and courteous. The location was great as well. Close to the canal and shopping. The beach is not too far away either. I visit Oahu often and I will definitely return to Wayfinder.

Yelp
Stayed here using the kamaaina price and it was perfect for what we wanted! Affordable, cute, and nice pool. We also LOVED the restaurant redfish I'm coming back just to eat that for sure also. The staff was helpful and super friendly, we really enjoyed coming here!

Yelp
Was hesitant to check-in due to google reviews about this hotel under construction. However it was different when I arrived. Lobby was fully furnished and immediately accommodated at the front desk. My room was all the more pleasurable to stay.

Yelp
Amazing hotel for a good price in a great location. Wonderful service, food, and ambiance. Would return!

Yelp
This hotel is so cute and has amazing amenities for a boutique. The design throughout is inspiring. We lived there chilled mint green tea, reef-safe complimentary sunscreen and towels provided by the pool. The food and coffee at the restaurant and coffee shop is second to none in Honolulu. The beds are comfortable. The fitness room is excellent - good size and top notch.

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great experience! We checked in with Emiko at the front desk and she was super friendly and helpful. Really great service from her!! The hotel is clean, comfortable and feels like a high end boutique yet still budget friendly. We would definitely stay again!

Yelp
Morning time yoga stretch with Yvonne was absolutely amazing, I was able to get my split on one side that I have never done before!!! Such a fun free activity

Angela N.

Yelp
If I could rate it a negative I would!! Such horrible service it's crazy...booked a room for two nights, what they don't tell you is there might not be parking available. You go to check in and the valet tells you to park two blocks away! Seriously what kind of hotel does not have parking...ridiculous!

Yelp
Let me start by saying Hawaii is so beautiful and I am so happy to have been able to experience the beautiful island of Oahu. I am sure there are better accommodations you could find but personally I think this is the best bang for your affordable buck. I mean I don't think you are going to be spending most of your time in your hotel room when you visit Hawaii but to each his own. Location is wonderful and pretty central to dining/shopping centers nearby. A lot within walking distance but obviously not everything. The hotel was under construction during our trip in November and i believe it was projected to be finished sometime in 2023. The parking situation is dismal as there is no private parking lot, they do offer valet but if you are lucky you might be able to grab an open spot on the street. Some other things to note during our stay: The pool was closed, they do not offer any complimentary breakfast or anything like that. The wifi never worked. There are no microwaves in the guest rooms but they do have a microwave available to use at the makeshift hotel room turned concierge office. Also, as others have mentioned, after the first night our shower did start to clog for some reason so that was not great. The staff was all very friendly and welcoming but maybe not informative? the only reason i say this is because no one told us that they offer free beach chairs, boogie boards and other things that could have been very beneficial for our time spent in Hawaii. We found this out on our own when we went to use the microwave on our last day and saw they had all these things to offer. It just would have been nice to have that info going into our stay but it's not something that ruined the trip of course. The views are beautiful and if you are lucky enough to get a room that faces the canal, you are sure to be stunned by a beautiful sunrise or sunset at some point. Love that this hotel has a balcony in the room!

Yelp
Wayfinder Hotel has become my go-to destination in Hawaii. The remarkable transformation, delightful decorations, unbeatable location, breathtaking views from the balconies, cozy coffee/bar in the lobby, serene pool area, and exceptional customer service make it a true gem. I wholeheartedly recommend Wayfinder Hotel to anyone seeking an unforgettable and rejuvenating stay in paradise. Throughout my stays, the customer service at Wayfinder Hotel has consistently exceeded my expectations. The staff members are attentive, courteous, and go above and beyond to ensure every guest has a memorable experience. From the moment I checked in until the day of departure, their professionalism and warm hospitality have left a lasting impression on me

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at the Wayfinder, but I will say that it's probably best for a younger crowd. The branding and hotel is really cute and is perfectly tucked away from the crowds but still close enough to the beach. The pool area is beautiful but I will warn that it can get loud and rowdy depending on the crowd. The hotel is still under construction and the gym, bar and restaurant is still not open. There is some loud noise during the day but it was only sporadic. The coffee bar was great to have access to and the coffee was actually pretty good! The staff were super friendly and helpful. There is also free happy hour beverages from 4-5 which was a nice touch and made up for the lack of bar. A few other cons I'd like to add: - the rooms don't have an iron in them which was inconvenient - the rooms have thin walls so you may hear your neighbors on occasion Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I'd definitely like to come back when the hotel is fully functioning!

Yelp
Stylish hotel but major flaws that could be easily fixed. Hidden "resort fee" not disclosed on expedia. Who closes hotel restaurant to guests on a Saturday for private party, which bybthe way, we could hear in our room until 10:30pm, so thin windows. Leaky toilet all night, taking a shower flods floor. Not enough parking in garage for guestd. Too bad as this place has a great pool and a lot of potential

Yelp
I've been trying to get in touch with front desk manager for 5 days with no luck. They forgot to give me one of my bags after checkout and I cannot get in touch with the front desk manager. I've left 2 messages they say someone will call me back and 5 days later no call. I've tried calling several times and no one picks up.. so sad and frustrating

Sanai R.

Yelp
Hmmmm Not what you see online. Touché The staff at the pool were amazing and friendly but the room and overall welcoming from front desk was so Disappointing, just a smile and hint of ALOHa would be more authentic for us..especially being kama'aina... coming from neighboring island Maui Nei so sad and won't be back

MJ S.

Yelp
What a fun place! Great staff and the rooms are so nice. Think Old Hawaii meets Young Hipster. As a Baby Boomer it was perfect. Had a fabulous free welcome drink at the pool side speakeasy , Lost+Found. The apps were amazing, Mini Corndogs and Poke Potatoes. Then finished off the night at Redfish Waikiki. And best of all we never had to leave the property. Wow we will be back!

Yelp
Cute hotel not far from International Marketplace. The room looked newly renovated and was really cute. Small lobby. The fitness center and restaurant were under renovation and thus not available. The pool area was nice and there is a jacuzzi. A/c worked well. Would stay here again.
