We booked this hotel per recommendation of Toya travel guide website. The views did not disappoint (and honestly we were afraid it wouldn't clear up, but it did in the morning), but it's very much up to the weather.
Service: 10/5 without their shuttle service that was available last minute, we would have been stranded. Silly me thought it would be pretty easy to get around from Niseko to Toya. Do not take multiple buses to Toyamizuekinomae in the winter, there's not much of a walkway, and in the winter the snow is so difficult to get luggage through. Even though it takes longer definitely take the JR which is more consistent than the buses. We were almost stranded for 3 hours but decided to take the bus to the JR stop instead, which added 4 hours to the overall transport, but the hotel was able to pick us up from there.
Location: 3/5 there's nothing in the area really, so get any shopping done for food or snacks or souvenirs at the JR station
Food: 3/5 typically at Japanese ryokan there is a traditional all you can eat included for dinner at places where it's far from everything else. Definitely my fault for not researching that and making the assumption but their food options were less than ideal or economical (not included even with the price) and not traditional. All the staff other than the bartender seemed to be Korean or Chinese. Breakfast was the worst we had during the entire trip.
Onsen: 5/5 in-room and public onsen have an amazing unobstructed view of the lake! This would be the reason to visit this hotel, if all else (food & location/extra transport time) is ok with you.
