The 7 Best Hostels in Lisbon (Updated 2025)

"The staff are fantastic and often surprise you with free wine (and sometimes pack snacks or sandwiches), and I enjoyed sitting in the lounge sipping port with views over São Jorge Castle; the hostel is conveniently located in Baixa next to the busy squares of Praça da Figueira and Rossio, and Pedro, the owner, has a restaurant next door — the spacious private rooms are great for couples or families." - Matthew Kepnes

I spent only one night at the hostel, and it was a truly special experience, mainly thanks to the people who work here — very attentive and dedicated to making it the best possible experience for guests. It’s too hard to list everything that positively surprised me. The room and the bed were comfortable enough to have a good rest. Everything was clean, well maintained, and properly attended to. The location is perfect.

Upon arrival the staff were helpful with luggage up the stairs to level 4 (reception). Check in was simple, with a staff member also sitting down to go through a map of main attractions, activities and to answer any questions (including restaurant recommendations!), was given a lovely ice tea during check in also.|I had a private room which was spacious with a comfortable bed. |The Sintra day trip through the hostel was a highlight, as was the tapas night.|Shared bathrooms were cleaned very regularly. The lounge spaces were really lovely. Be prepared for the stairs as there is no lift.

Went for a solo holiday kept to myself and had a nice experience the room was a little loud but that was just due to an open window and being street side. Nothing that would hinder a trip some ear plugs and a closed window and your good. Staff are really nice and helpful and great hosts and the hostel is in and ideal location where transport or walkability is great. They have lots to offer and I'd recommend staying here to anyone solo or not.

I stayed at this hostel for three days. I can recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Lisbon. It's very centrally located, and you can mostly reach the places you want to visit on foot. The staff is super friendly and organizes great activities like pub crawls or tapas dinners. This makes it easy to meet other people. Overall, I would book this hostel again anytime.

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The experience was truly excellent from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome — always friendly, helpful, and professional. The service was top-notch, and it really made a difference during my stay. The facilities were also outstanding: clean, modern, and very comfortable. Everything was well-maintained, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great stay — I’ll definitely be coming back!

This was the perfect spot in Lisbon to get around. The upstairs is such a chill and respect area where you can decompress. The staff was helpful with any questions and I was able to store my bags and hangout before checkout which was so nice.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! By far the friendliest, most welcoming hostel we’ve ever stayed at. On arrival they brought us iced tea, and offered to sit with us to tell us more about the city (Lisbon) and the best spots to see!!! Seriously all the staff were amazing, carrying our heavy bag up 4 flight of stairs, always asking if we needed anything and down to answer any questions! Shoutout to employees Mary (who surprised us with chocolate cake one night to congratulate my pregnancy) and Julie (who wrote us up some travel ideas for our Madeira trip!). Would STRONGLY recommend this hostel to everyone!

One of the best hostels in the world! Everyone really made me feel at home. The location is very central, 2min from the metro or just 5min to the river coast. It was easy to go walking everywhere (the team gives great advice on the city!). The Tapas & Fado evening is a must to meet others and get a taste of the Portuguese culture.
