My recent five-night stay at the hotel was far from satisfactory. The rooms turned out to be much older than the appealing images portrayed online, offering a rather dated experience. Despite reserving a Mountain View room, our stay was plagued by several issues, including outdated facilities, electrical problems, and a non-functional air conditioner in room 610.
Attempting to enhance our stay, we encountered resistance at check-in when the reception claimed our request for a quieter room with a Mountain View wasn't possible. Only after presenting our reservation details were we allocated a room with a Mountain View, but the experience was marred by evident electrical issues, as indicated by burnt stains outside the room.
The hotel's solution to an electricity blackout was rather unconventional – bypassing the key card reader to ensure a continuous power supply. When the air conditioner subsequently failed, the staff's inability to resolve the issue led to a move to a smaller, downgraded room facing the noisy street – an unpleasant surprise.
Adding a touch of irony, the hotel not only downgraded our accommodation but also charged us 15 baht for a basic amenity – a bucket of ice that, unfortunately, leaked on the countertops. This, coupled with the overall impression of profit-driven decisions, left me questioning the establishment's commitment to guest comfort and safety.
To complete the less-than-ideal experience, neighboring guests disrupted our sleep on the first night with loud children waking up at 5 am. The situation was compounded in room 605, where yellow-stained sheets and exposed electric wiring posed potential safety hazards.
The dimly lit bathrooms and the hotel's somewhat isolated location, necessitating a car, added to the overall inconvenience. Finally, the breakfast, with cold items, questionable quality, and a coffee machine dispensing less-than-authentic brew, failed to meet basic expectations.
In summary, my five-night stay felt like a journey into a bygone era, with the hotel seemingly more interested in maximizing revenue than ensuring guest satisfaction. It's a place I'd recommend avoiding for those seeking comfort, safety, and a pleasant overall experience.
I’m now moving to a gem called G Nimman Chiang Mai that is only a little bit more expensive but is an architectural gem in a fantastic area.
