This Is North America's Largest Urban Pathway — and It Has Over 600 Miles of Trail

"A river delta area encountered along the reservoir loop that immerses riders in marshy, natural scenery and delivers a strong feeling of being far from the city despite being within Calgary’s limits." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Weaselhead Flats is a hidden Calgary treasure! On our visit we saw woodpeckers, beavers, muskrats, plenty of squirrels and chipmunks — and even a whitetail deer that quietly approached and walked right past our group. Absolutely magical. The area has wide, accessible paths for all abilities, plus more rugged trails if you want a true hike. It’s peaceful, full of wildlife, and feels like an escape from the city without ever leaving it. I honestly didn’t even know this existed — and now I highly, highly recommend it for anyone who wants to connect with nature right in Calgary.

Beautiful green space here in the city of Calgary. Nice off the main path trails which are nice to get off the busy bike path. The river is beautiful and clean. Great spot for pretty much any outdoor activity!

It's one of my favorite places to walk/run/bike. Great trails some wildlife. You can start at weaslehead and do the loop it's about 16km , walking ittook my 2½ hours non-stop. Biking with a couple of stops took 1½ hours.

It is my favorite park in Calgary. It's a really huge piece of forest full of birds, animals, and other wildlife inhabitants. Despite the past history of this territory (it was an old military area), it's a truly unique place with fascinating landscapes views towards the river. You can use main trails with hard cover goods for bicycles or choose small paths. Each visit here is a special story, that's why I so love this park.

Weaselhead was weaselfantastic! Beautiful scenery, lush paths! After a long day at the coal factory, I gotta say, I’m beat! But a walk through here filled me with the burning hot energy of a thousand suns being punched into basketball hoop. Swish. Nothing but PARK! It’s amazing. I saw a deer. That was nice. I saw a WATER SOMETHING I don’t know. It was in water, there’s lots of water! And don’t be afraid of the forest. The trees are trees. And if your spicy you’ll walk around the entire reservoir because you’re awesome and have legs made of thunder and a soul gleaming with ruby tinted lasers!

A fantastic place to teach children to love wildlife! A dense, magnificent forest, oxbow lakes, and a fast-flowing river create a sense of complete immersion in nature.

A beautiful place for a walk on a nice day! At some spots the river is great for wadding in.

It's a regular place, nothing romantic. Not many people in the morning. Still you can enjoy walking in the woods. One star for owl.
