We recently stayed at the Weatherford for a few nights. It's a really neat old, historic, beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay, but of course being an old building it does have its quirks.
The location is great, if you want to be in the heart of downtown and where the action is. They make no secret of the hotel being an entertainment hotel, with bars and a nightclub, and even go so far as to provide earplugs for the noise (we used them, thanks!). If you are looking for a good solid nights sleep, and you like to turn in early, I recommend looking elsewhere. We were woken up both nights by the noise from the nightclub directly below our room. I don't blame the hotel, as they were very clear about the noise level when we made the reservation, and again at check in. I will say though that it was a lot louder then we had expected it would be.
There is very little parking available. 7 spots behind the hotel, that can fit 7 compact size cars nicely. There is limited parking in a lot next door, but it was somewhat confusing and you could only park there during certain hours. We were lucky enough to find one of the 7 hotel spots, and parked the car and left it there for the weekend. I should mention that there is a lot within walking distance of the hotel, a lot of shops and restaurants, so it wasn't a big issue for us.
One of the reasons we chose the Weatherford was because there is a restaurant and bar inside the hotel. We were somewhat disappointed with the restaurant, the hours are not clear, it's listed open "until close" which turned out the Friday night we were there was 8:45 pm. It seemed really odd to me that they would close so early on a busy Friday night, and when we asked for any recommendations from hotel staff for a place to get a quick bite, we were told that everything in flagstaff closes early, so they were of really no help.
The rooms are nice and clean, with comfortable beds and windows you can open to get fresh air. We tried to turn the heat on in our room (it got down to 65° which is cold for us) and finally went down to the try to find someone to help us with it. (There are no phones in the rooms to call the front desk, so if you need something you have to go downstairs and try to find an employee.) The manager told us the heat was not turned on yet, he did offer us a space heater, which we took him up on.
The bathroom has a nice claw foot tub, with a shower head for showering. The shower curtain did not fit around the whole tub, there was a fairly big gap which let a lot of cold air in. The water pressure was really low, and the water went from ice cold to scalding hot, on its own, throughout the shower. Also the tub was a little wobbly so every time you would move the tub would move, which was a little concerning.
For the price of the room I would expect a few more modern conveniences, such as a coffee maker in the room, a hair dryer, and a phone. All things that are fairly commonplace in all hotels I've stayed in recently. Also there is no front desk, and if you are in a position where you need assistance you have to leave your room, go downstairs and hope you can find someone. (Anytime we tried calling the number we could not get an answer.) It appears as if the hotel is more focused on the entertainment aspect, and not so much on the hotel or hotel guests.
The Weatherford is a great place, I'm glad we had the opportunity to stay there, but I don't know if I would go back.
