Seattle’s Restaurant and Bar Closures, 2024 - Eater Seattle

"Thirty years after opening, the Wedgwood Ale House and Cafe has closed, owner Kip Caputo said on Facebook. Opened in 1992 by Rob Paulson, the neighborhood bar and restaurant was struggling financially when it was sold to Caputo, a longtime employee, in 2021. Caputo wrote that he was “hoping for an eleventh hour hail Mary change of situation, but I must come to the realization that the Alehouse is going to have to close at the end of the month, probably the 29th to be exact.” He is accepting donations for a severance fund for his employees, whom he describes as “family.”" - Meg van Huygen

Seattle’s Restaurant and Bar Closures | Eater Seattle

"In Wedgwood I wrote that the Wedgwood Ale House and Cafe closed after thirty years; owner Kip Caputo, who bought the struggling neighborhood bar and restaurant in 2021, said he had hoped for a last-minute turnaround but had to close around the 29th and is accepting donations for a severance fund for his employees." - Harry Cheadle

I have come here twice now- once during a trivia night and once saturday evening. Both times the servers were incredibly nice and one even provided a sort of 'secret menu' item that ended up being one of the most delicious appetizers ive ever had. While i wish the old menu turkey leg was still available, i was excited to see the menu's had been updated. (And hopefully the turkey leg makes a comeback soon) Overall the atmosphere and food are great, and they have some of the cleanest bathrooms i have seen in seattle

Great find. We enjoyed the vibe of the place as well as the fantastic service from Tiffany. Solid bar with several draft beers. We ordered and shared a variety of food items. The clams were great with a tasty sauce and perfectly toasted bread. Kong Pow Brussel Sprouts were 100, even for the no veggie guy. The Mozzarella Moons are a genius shape and size however the cheese ratio could increase a bit. Sauce was solid as was the Chipotle mayo that came with the Fried Pickles. Best wings we've had in a bit. Looking forward to the Pulled Pork and Baked Mac and Cheese next time. Good view of TVs however they didn't dominate the atmosphere.

Carlos was absolutely hustling today. He had a full dining room to himself on a Saturday morning and managed it all and was super friendly. I'm absolutely impressed with his hard work. The brunch burger was solid and the fries were immaculately crispy.

I was very surprised by the service my family and friends received at this restaurant. Carlos had came to our table with tons of enthusiasm that really helped set the tone for a fun evening out. I had no idea he was new until he let us know because he handled our crowd very well, with both comedy and professionalism at the same time. I highly recommend this restaurant for the food as well as the service and environment!

Big meaty wings were delicious. Carlos and Tiffany were great and treated us like the princes we are. The Mariners playoff games were easily viewable. The beers were fresh and frosty. Looking forward to returning to try out the rest of the menu.

Awesome local place. Carlos, Tiffany and Nick made us feel welcome…even though the Mariners lost. They made a bad night better. Also kick ass wings.

Second time I’ve been here. I’ve had a great experience each time. Carlos greeted us today and Tiffany was our server. They both were friendly and attentive. Nice place to have in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Checked it out on a Wednesday night and they were very busy. The place is not very large. Staff was attentive even though they had recently opened. The full bar is reasonable stocked. Food was good. My daughter loved the tomato soup and grilled cheese, My wife loved the Burger and my Pulled pork was good as well. All Food arrived hot. They were very busy with people having a cocktail waiting for take away. Three TV"S showing sports. The front outdoor area has been upgraded with cover, heaters, and music.. I am personally looking forward to see their breakfast schedule and menu. Hard to find a local place that opens by 8:00 am with a full bar.

Yelp
We had a great time at the Wedgwood Public House! The staff was friendly, accommodating, and checked in on us enough to make sure we had what we need :) everything is newly built and looks and feels clean. The most surprising things was the food. You never know what new places will do with their preparation and menu choices, but everything we got came out SO good. We got the fried pickles which came with a cilantro ranch which was the perfect balance of tangy and creamy. The pickles themselves had a good breading to coin ratio. We both got the pulled pork sandwiches and they were also so good! Buns were super fresh and soft, the pork and coleslaw had a great ratio and flavor, and the sweet potato tater tots may have been the star of the show. We are looking forward into including this walkable sports bar into our rotation of restaurants :)

Yelp
Hubby and I used to patronize The Wedgwood Alehouse for the last 35 years. We were truly sad when they closed. We waited with anticipation to see what the new restaurant/bar would be like. We were pleasantly surprised. We came in on Thursday evening just after 5pm. Only a few other customers inside at that time. It's seat yourself with menus already on the table. We were promptly greeted and offered beverages. We ordered our favorite IPA Bodhizafa. It came ice cold. The menu seems to be lacking very many entrees. It's very appetizer heavy. So we ordered Buffalo Wings and Fish & Chips to split. The prices are also a little on the high side but I guess that's standard everywhere nowadays, especially in Seattle. But for the price the quality of food and portion size were on point. Even splitting we had leftovers. It is a very "upscale sports bar" feel inside. Murals of the Sonics, Mariners & Seahawks emblems adorn the walls. 4 big screen TV's spread throughout the interior. The bathrooms got a much needed major renovation during the remodel process. Now they're sharp & clean & modern looking. If I had a complaint other than needing more entrees on the menu it would be the hard wood chairs are uncomfortable to sit on. Also no salt & pepper on the table. Instead a container of red pepper flakes. I'd switch those. Look forward to going back to try breakfast on a weekend.

Yelp
We had brunch here today. Great service, clean remodeled dining area, nice menu. We had a bagel with lox and a standard breakfast of bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes and gluten free toast. The potatoes were crispy and arrived hot. Everything was delicious!

Yelp
Glad to have this place near our home! It's only been open for about three weeks. We walked through the door and were met immediately by our host and was promptly seated . I ordered fried pickles, fried calamari, and buffalo chicken wings. And ordered a couple beers through out my stay. The Food was on point! Wings were good size, juicy and crispy. Calamari was lightly battered and fried just the way i like them, and the fried pickled were as expected not soggy and oily. over all the ambiance was pretty good had tvs playing games and every one was super friendly. I WILL definitely be back!

Yelp
Dined in this past weekend and my expectations were exceeded. Really good bar food- we had the coconut shrimp, the burger, the pulled pork, and the fish and chips. Service was exceptional- staff were very attentive and friendly. Great neighborhood bar to watch a game, also great for a casual meal with the family. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
The hamburger was delicious. My husband loved the ribs. The waitress was friendly and helpful. A great place to watch sports and relax with a good beer. We will be back.

Yelp
The food and drinks were fantastic ! We're so glad that there is a place we can take our 19 year old son. We moved to the neighborhood 10 years ago and this is the first family friendly spot in all of 98115 since the Roosevelt AH burned years ago. Keep up the great work !

Yelp
We tried it, the food was mediocre half the order was good and half was bad. The chairs are hard as rocks. Maybe they're trying to attract a young crowd, but the neighborhood that supports this place are all middle-aged or older, looking for comfort. Missed the old booths. Service was good. We will come back I hope the food gets a little better as I like to support local businesses and I know they got a bad rap from some of the neighbors. It's also nice having a TV in there hopefully we can catch some games while supporting a new business.
