"Wee Nam Kee Considered Singapore’s national dish, Hainanese chicken rice is a beloved staple for many. It’s made up of a fragrant bowl of chicken broth, a pile of fluffy rice, and tender poached chicken (skin on), as well as condiments like ginger paste, dark soy sauce, and chili sauce—and sometimes a side of gai lan (a leafy Chinese vegetable). Enjoy the traditional meal in homey surroundings at Wee Nam Kee, a casual and inexpensive restaurant that started out many years ago as a humble food stall. Though the chicken rice is the star, other favorites include cereal prawns, fish-head curry, salted-egg pork ribs, and sambal kangkong (greens)."

Came here for a simple family dinner after hearing about the chicken rice and it did not disappoint. The chicken rice here is fluffy, fragrant and flavourful- good enough to eat on its own. Both the steamed and roasted chicken were juicy and tender. Curry fish head was creamy, tasty and not too spicy. Sizzling tofu was okay- can do with and without. Eggplant was nice. Portion of food here is big and price is reasonable. Food gets served rather quickly.

Went for Sunday lunch at 11:30am — no queue then, but by the time we left around 12:30pm, a line had formed outside (tip: go early!). Oddly, there were still empty tables inside while people queued outside. Food was served pretty fast, but the service felt rushed and noisy. The waitstaff weren’t exactly throwing dishes, but the way food was placed on the table could definitely have been more gentle. The table we were seated at had been wiped, but the tablecloth left behind a very strong smell — we ended up cleaning it ourselves with wet wipes and sanitizer before it felt okay to eat. Atmosphere and service could really be improved. That said, the food itself was good. We had ½ white and ½ roasted chicken, dumpling soup, and kangkong. The rice was fragrant and tasty, and the dumplings were nice with a good mix of mushroom, prawn, and pork. It would have been better if the soup had more vegetables instead of just two lonely leaves. While the flavors delivered, the overall price felt a little high considering the service and dining experience. They also have big tables that can seat 10-12pax, which makes it a good spot for family gatherings or to bring overseas guest to try yummy chicken rice Will we come back again? Yes.

Eat like a local! Went there for Lunch and totally feel like i’m one of the local. There is no queue when I was there. Since they are famous for the chicken rice I ordered 1/4 Stream chicken &1/4 Soya chicken. I like both of them but would highly recommend Stream chicken! 🐔 The vegetable are good as well, haven’t try the cereal prawns 🍤 but ordered salted egg prawns tastes good! 👍 Service is good and the system is easy to understand and straightforward.

I've been here many times over the years and while I can't say it's the best chicken rice on the island, it is certainly reliable and good quality. Fish head curry also came with a huge piece of meat, and cereal prawns are crisp, tasty and not oily. Queue can get long at peak hours, but service is fast.

Best roasted chicken rice in Singapore hands down. Had their chicken rice for many years and the main branch is the best, their roasted chicken has crispy skin with flavourful meat. I had their roasted chicken at their now defunct Marina Square outlet and it wasn’t very good. I usually eat at their restaurant to ensure the chicken is at its tastiest. You can skip their tze char dishes and stick to just chicken rice because most of them are underwhelming. I have eaten their baby sotong, Thai style beancurd, dough fritters and sambal kangkong and all of them were below average.

Manage to make a booking so we didn’t have to wait in line. The food came pretty quickly. We quite like the chicken rice. Very nice flavour and the chilli was quite nice but not spicy enough. We also tried their sambal kangkung and ngoh hiang. Both decent. What was a disappointment was their hor fun. This was tasteless. Overall, come for the chicken rice. But not other dishes.

Went on Friday night, we are the 3rd group of customer waiting in line. There are table needed to be clean and empty seats available but waitress have no more bandwidth to bring customers in. waited for a good 15 mins and finally got in. Place is noisy, lots of echo. Need to raise voice to heard each other. The atmosphere and service wasn’t really pleasing. Roasted chicken was oos at 7 plus, didn’t managed to try and gotten the white chicken. It was good, the sauce is nice. Rice is fragrant and tasty. Traditional dumpling, a good mix of mushroom, prawn and pork. The beansprout was served piping hot and tasty delicious. Not a fan of their chili and ginger sauce but it was okay cause the food already taste good.

Waiting time of about 10 mins on a weekend afternoon. Shared tables with another family of 3. Steamed chicken was juicy and good, also ordered hotplate tofu, kangtong veges and roasted pork, generous portions and delicious. However restaurant was understaffed and only 2 waiters going around serving tables, despite it being a crowded weekend.
