Had this on our local Bucket List and was not dissapointed. We 1st checked-out the kayak launch/fishing pier. Then we walked the trails, climbed up the Observation Tower and actually made all of the lookouts/observation points. Note the #3 lookout point is a great walk but, the Mangroves are pretty thick so, not much to see once you get there. But...still a great walk. The boardwalks make the walking a breeze and the entangled Mangrove roots are fascinating (think fractile!). When you get to the observation points, take your time to watch. We saw an Osprey catch a fish and fly around with it to find a place to dine. Also, just watch the water and you will be entertained by the jumping mullet - they are way cool.
I love high places and the observation tower was fantastic. After we identified Tampa and St Pete skylines, we found the observation map to be able to confirm them plus Clearwater and the power plant (pretty far off) on the other side of Tampa bay. Loved it!
Looks like an excellent place to explore by kayak and we are definitely already planning to come back for a kayak expedition.
If you love nature, in a quiet and paeceful setting - get Weedon on your list!
