The Roman menu is delicious and also lactose free. Prepare to get full in a nice environment with friendly stuff. I would recommend to reserve a seat.

Centrally local in the square, you can’t miss it. During tourist season they have outdoor seating but they have a back patio as well. Food is good, wines are amazing and service can be hit or miss but most servers do speak a little English. Great place to people watch! Highly recommend their soups!

Google
Amazing food! I ordered venison with homemade noodles in dark sauce, with a pear and cranberries. It was something wonderful!! the price for such pleasure is only 18 euros! a special pleasure after a delicious meal - to sit outside and admire the square and the fountain, listen to the singing of the musicians. I l recommend this place 100%!!

Google
A disappointing experience overall. The food was average at best. Regarding service, we were informed that our table was reserved until 6:30. However, at 5:30, when we wanted to order dessert, the staff rudely told us we couldn’t because the table was booked for 6:00. Even if that were the case, we still had 30 minutes left. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place.

Situated right in the centre of Trier, this restaurant offers lots of dishes and also a wine tasting menu. The staff are very friendly and it is a lovely place to come on a sunny day!

Our favourite place to eat in Trier. Good food, very polite and helpful staff. Really tasty chicken salads, all served with yogurt dressing. Great selection of good quality wine. At the back it’s opposite the Dom, or city cathedral so lovely to sit outside in summer. The front of the restaurant looks onto main market square and you can sit out front also.

Google
The place where u can try an ancient Roman cuisine, the foods were eaten only by kings or rich people. Black Tiger Tomato rice was bomb as well as Panna Coat. They also have such a good quality of wine (obviously its Trier). One star taken down because they were too pricey.

Google
The food a bit salty, but the wine probe was great selection. The atmosphere of the place is no nice and the attention of the personal was also good... If I come back to Treveri, I would probably pass by for some wine

Yelp
Great location and service. We got a window location and we can people watch while eating. Today they had events so the square is packed and the The bananenweizen beer was delicious. I ordered the beef stew and potato dumplings with red cabbage. The cabbage had an unusual flavor. Very sweet and sour at the same time. Thr beef was tasty and I'm glad it had tons of gravy. I didn't expect the potato to be so soft. I was a dumpling like gnocchi. Still good tho My ordered the pork loin and fries. It did not disappoint. It was fresh and tasty. And the fries were crispy. Classic German meals.

Yelp
Refused to seat us. Only spoke German and from what my friends have said this was on purpose to get you to go away.

Yelp
Recommended by locals this restaurant is right in the center of Trier and is not too touristy. Naturally they have a wide range of local wines and we tried quite a few of them. We even tried some of the typical Roman wine cocktails, but it is not worth the try and does not do justice to a restaurant offering cuisine of the Mosel region. So I would recommend to stay with the local wines, beer and chows. We all had hearty meat dishes and were pleased with the outcome of the evening. In the back of the restaurant is also an outdoor seating area with a nice view of the dome. We stopped there for Bitburger Beer the next day.

Yelp
We had a great dinner. We loved the different wines and the wine tasting Menues. Food was great, they have a Menue with original Roman dishes. Delicious.

Yelp
The food was horrible, literally came out lukewarm. The spatzle was hard and when I told the servers they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. The schnitzel and the spatzle was literally inedible. Never coming back or suggesting it to future guests.

Yelp
Four of us had an enjoyable meal here, in lovely settings. The Restaurant is situated in the corner of a large open square, and you can either sit out at the front over looking the square, through in a lovely enclosed courtyard (where we sat), or inside the building at the back. The courtyard was spacious, with lots of flower boxes and baskets, and was quite a sun trap. The food was excellent. I had Quiche Lorraine, which came with a salad and fries. The portions were large, the quiche was first class, and including drinks, four of us ate for 60 Euros. The staff were very good, all spoke excellent English and served with a smile. We were so impressed that we returned later in the day to have a dessert each with an afternoon drink, and again, found it to be reasonably priced with excellent food and service. I can highly recommend Weinstube zum Domstein. Excellent.

Yelp
Wonderful location and fantastic food. My wife and I spent almost three hours here watching the sunset over the Trier market, the meal was perfectly prepared and timed, and the service was just right.

Yelp
A family favorite going back to the 1970's. Food and service is always above average. Even though, they cater to tour groups I would not label it a tourist restaurant. Great location. Always a stop when I visit.

Yelp
Food was okay, service was fine, not worth the price nor the hype. We ordered the fillets of herring in the cream sauce and the ham in the fig sauce (Roman dish). The herring was fine... nothing exquisite but nothing wrong. The Roman dish was over cooked and one-note: fig. The sauce was nothing but overly-sweet fig taste. It belonged on a dessert menu. Our server wasn't that nice but perhaps it was because her English was limited. We wouldn't go back.

Yelp
The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. I had the roasted pork with creme sauce (tasted like brown gravy). This was served with French fries and a side salad. The price was a little high for common curbside German food... Service was very slow and no bread was ever brought to our table. Waiter never asked how our food was and had to "steal" the utensils from the neighboring table. The place was packed however, and people seemed to enjoy the long waits and were chatting with their table mates happily. The Roman menu fair and artifacts throughout the restaraunt were very cool! If you eat outside you will have a great view of the town circle.

Yelp
I had several of the best meals of my lifetime at Zum Domstein including the most creative salmon and pesto meal several years ago that i have attempted to replicate at home. The noon meal is ridiculously reasonable and always good. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful: if you ask what they would recommend [empfehlen], they will not steer you wrong. I have sent numerous friends to this place and I have gotten accolades from all. Once, way back in 1974, my wife had the experience of working there. Nice people to work for too.

Yelp
Another one you could miss tucked back in hidddn square by the church. Make a point to find. Delicious the owner takes pride in each meal going out. So good and Beautiful area to sit and watch people visiting the beautiful church or the men playing bocce ball across the square. Great German slow paced place to sit and really enjoy your meal. I'm American and picky. When in doubt when I first moved there all I ordered was steak comes with a delicious herbed butter on side (use it) and best fries in the world. Germany makes fries that beat anyplace in the world! But you can trust in Germany trying their dishes. Most are all wonderful but it's a good place to start if you're picky. Also Americans you must ask for your check or they don't bring it. Best way is Die Rechnung bitte. " They will ask if you are satisfied always. Do you want to make sure you had a wonderful experience every time in every restaurant. If you really live in you can say "Wunderbar" meaning miraculous really great! LSt is there is a pillar in front of church that was knocked over you'll see a lot of people go by and rub it they say if you touch it or rub it it brings you good health. Jesus shroud is incased in this church. Through glass you can see the incredible beautiful case it's in but only once every so many years they open it up for a short time to be seen to keep the wear and tear down. Have fun
