We used booking.com and received an email prior to arrival with door codes. The guesthouse has rooms on the main floor and a shared dining and living space and kitchen area upstairs. The rooms are on the smaller size but adequate and have a private bathroom. We slept very well with white noise playing. Overall it was cozy and convenient. Recommended for adults not young children.

Reserved a room via Agoda and never received a door code or check-in instructions. No email, nothing to spam. The property was entirely unreachable by phone or email. Even Agoda customer service was unable to reach the property, which is what allowed us ultimately to get a cancellation and full refund.

Stay away from this horrific place. No one is here to help you, the don’t email you the code to get in… they don’t pick up a phone… We got stranded.. I had to sleep outs side in the rain as there were no room available anywhere… It was a disaster.. HORROR SHOW

I wanted to like this place and say that people were just not understanding what a guesthouse was, but after our stay, and other stays around Iceland, I can’t.||Pluses - Clean, good location about 35 km west of Vik, great views behind the property up into the mountains, just north of Hwy 1, private bathroom. The common room upstairs was actually pretty decent though up an almost ladder to get to the 2nd floor.||Minuses - Tiny rooms that got hot even in May. Loud when people left in the morning. Maybe a foot between twin beds. Shower was 2 shower tiles wide.||It was closer in feel to a hostel than a guesthouse. The south coast is expensive but pay a little more to get a lot more.

There are a ton of negative reviews that I don't understand. If you want US style hotels, there is one 1km south for $400+ a night. We stayed 3 nights in two rooms. We cooked food in the ample kitchen upstairs and lounged in the upstairs area whenever we weren't exploring. Clean towels were delivered daily and the convenience to Vik, the Ferry, the nearby geothermal pool, and the glacier can't be beat. We dined at nearby restaurants, especially a few at Skógafoss that offered superior food (at superior prices). No, there is no desk or staff on-site for check in. You pick up the phone in the downstairs entry area, dial a # and a helpful staff member provides your room codes. The rooms are clean, enough space for two people, and each room has a private bath with shower. Spend your time exploring the area, come back tired, and have a good sleep. Recommended.

I booked via Booking. I received indication to call the owner upon arrival to be let into my room (they do not send codes as all the other guesthouses do). So I called I don't know how many times and no one picked up. After some time a lady arrived and she didn't speak any English; by gesture she let us understand that she would call someone else with the room code for checking in. Another guy arrived, still not a word in English, and we finally had our room. The building smells bad, the bathroom too. The room is very small and the bathroom is freezing cold. The night was very windy and it seemed like the whole building was falling apart. For the same (very expensive) price you can find better places.

Great views, right off the ring road, clean and simple with a common area that you can cook your own food in. Cattle freely wandering past our windows was pretty cool. Make sure you have internet access (although they have free wifi) as everything is self check in and checkout (they email you a code to get your key and you drop it off in a box to check out). There doesn’t seem to be any staff presence permanently situated at the front desk but they have a phone there for you to call someone. I stayed in the main building which had this hostel vibe but with private bathrooms. Only downside is that the walls were a bit thin and we could hear people talking down the hall.
