My stay at Hotel Lambafell was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the hotel’s peaceful setting and cozy atmosphere. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, it felt like the perfect retreat after long days of exploring. The entire property is well-kept, inviting, and full of character, which added so much charm to my experience. The staff were one of the biggest highlights of my stay. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. They offered great recommendations, assisted with anything I needed, and made me feel completely taken care of throughout my visit. Their hospitality really sets this hotel apart. Breakfast each morning was wonderful—fresh ingredients, tasty options, and plenty to choose from. It was clear a lot of care went into preparing it, and it made a great start to every day. Out of all the places I stayed during my trip, Hotel Lambafell was by far the best. The combination of comfort, exceptional service, and beautiful surroundings made it unforgettable. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It was worth coming to Iceland just to stay in hotel Lambafell:)

Whatever ever you do, do not book with this Hotel ever. They take your money and don't care about much else after that and then they leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere without a code to get into the room despite knowing that you are sitting there waiting to get in, this was on Boxing Day as well so we were lucky to be able to find and book in somewhere else at such short notice and then we had to drive another 40 mins to get to the new accomodation. Between my wife and myself we tried to ring them 30 times on 2 different phones for a code and in the end they blocked my number. Since then they have ignored all messages trying to contact them for a refund from ourselves and Hotels.com. so just in case anyone didn't get it the first time whatever you do, do not book with this Hotel unless you want to lose money, be stranded in the middle of nowhere and have your holiday ruined. I've only given it 1 star because it wouldn't let me post my review unless i did.

This place sucks. We booked our hotel through AMEX travel, and arrived at the property at 7:30 PM well within the check-in window of 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We arrived and learned that a code was supposed to be emailed to us we never received. There was a phone number to call if you had an issue that nobody answered for the hour and a half I tried calling them. We ended up staying at a different hotel in Selfoss that was significantly better. I called AMEX and asked them to remove the property from their site, because I was without a place to sleep with my wife and two young children. AMEX reported them, and hopefully they get removed from all booking sites or start to staff someone at the property.

If I could give the customer service a zero, I would. We booked one night for 4 people. I’ve got confirmation via email right away. But never received the codes for the rooms. We called on the day of our arrival. Lady suggested that the codes were texted, but after explaining that I’m on the travel eSIM, she suggested to call after 4:00 pm promising to get us the codes. After that nobody picked up the phone. So instead of relaxing evening, after the hard day of hiking and driving, we had to drive 2.5 hours back to Reykjavík, rent whatever was available for that night. Host NEVER contacted us with apology or explanation. Stay away from this property.

This is a self-check-in property. Booked room through a third-party and never received the email with our room code or saying assistance closes at 9:00 pm. We arrived at 9:20 after a long day of hiking and could not access our room and the phone was not answered. We stayed for an hour and a half trying to contact them. Luckily, we found other accommodations nearby. Do not recommend.

During my recent stay at this self-check-in property, I encountered several challenges with the arrival process. After booking through Priceline and receiving a confirmation, I was informed that check-in instructions would be provided by the property. Unfortunately, I did not receive the promised email, nor was I able to reach the property by phone number provided despite multiple attempts. As a result, I contacted Priceline customer service, which required an international call and a 30-minute wait before I obtained the necessary check-in information. While my phone plan allowed for free international calls, I am concerned that other guests without such options may face significant inconvenience. This appears to be a recurring issue, based on accounts from other travelers. Given the tourism-dependent nature of the area and its remote location, I believe it is essential for properties to communicate reliably with guests. I strongly advise future visitors to confirm check-in details ahead of time and to exercise caution when booking. Upon arrival, the provided code allowed me to access the room key from the lock box. I stayed in one of the newer POD units, which was clean and equipped with a mini kitchen containing all necessary amenities except a wall oven. The bedding was comfortable, and all standard provisions were available. The accommodation is basic but functional, set against a beautiful landscape approximately 40 km west of Vik. The cleaning staff member who visited the next day was courteous and helpful.

Great room; clean and comfy. Great location. The only drawback was that we couldn’t reach anyone for help accessing our room it’s a self service hotel); once we figured out the system we were able to check in. Breakfast was good, the views from the dining area were sublime.

Terrible Experience – Avoid if Possible I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this so-called "hotel." I never received any check-in instructions, nor was I informed that there is no front desk. When I arrived late at night, I was left standing outside in the cold with no idea how to get in. Other guests—who were just as frustrated—told me you’re supposed to receive a code by email or text. I never got anything, and despite calling the hotel multiple times, not a single call was answered. Clearly, customer service is nonexistent and they don’t care about their guests at all. To make things worse, I learned from another guest that he also never received an email, but was only able to get the code after calling the hotel earlier in the day. That’s not acceptable, especially for people arriving late and tired. I was exhausted, freezing, and had nowhere to go. I nearly called the police just to get some help. Luckily, my partner managed to find another hotel nearby at the last minute, but we had to pay a much higher price just to have a place to sleep. This was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. The complete lack of communication, zero support, and utter disregard for guests’ wellbeing is appalling. I strongly recommend staying far away from this place.
