For a +€200 a night 4 star hotel staying here was a very disappointing experience, for the following reasons:
- They charge you €18 a night to park your car, despite being a guest.
- The room on the ground floor (of which there are many) was right by a busy road. This means you can’t get changed / generally be in your room without keeping the curtains shut, and you can’t open the windows at night unless you want to be woken up by cars or inebriated patrons of the local pubs walking back home.
- Air conditioning does not work, therefore in spring and summer you have to choose to either get woken up every 30 minutes by noisy passers-by, or put up with a vet hot room. Either way, you can’t sleep.
- The carpet in the room was incredibly stained and the room generally dirty (we were presumably given the pet room, as we stayed with a small dog) but a bit more cleaning wouldn’t hurt
- Room service stops at 9pm? Like..why have it at all. Asked for a small dessert (a bowl of ice cream) at 9:30pm - no chance.
I’m not nit-picky with the places I stay. If this were a €100 a night hotel, the above would be completely acceptable (albeit frustrating). However, for a +€200 per night 4-star hotel, I find this totally unacceptable. In addition, despite a beautiful facade, the interiors are ugly and furnished in a very cheap way.
