Welcome Hotel Residenzschloss Bamberg

Hotel is located near the Michaelsberg with extensive grounds. It was the former hospital with a grand main building and extensive wings . We were located in a far away corner room. There’s parking onsite for €20 (can come and go for 24 hours) . Room is spacious with plenty of facilities. Close to the main sights across the river. Rate included breakfast which was very extensive including sausages, salmon, cheese and even bubbly. Highly recommended.

Nice hotel in a great location in Bamberg, Germany. Rooms are nice, a bit dated, but very comfortable! Nice bed and pillows! Perhaps the best part of the stay was the amazing breakfast buffet laid out each morning. Something for everyone on the buffet, hot foods included! Nice bar area as well, great place to hang out for a night cap at the end of the day. Very cozy, comfortable, Bavarian-style place. We would definitely stay again.

We stay 3 nights and tried 2 different rooms. Overall very good location, centrally located near to the old town and at the bottom of the view point. The breakfast got a lot of variety of cold meat, sausages and drinks. Fresh honey comb is provided which is really nice. The room is reasonably large, really good to have a make up desk and chair in the washroom. The room has very nice view of the garden. Slippers are provided. However the hotel is a bit dated as the bathroom of both of our rooms got leakage at the toilet. The toiletries supplied are limited with shower gel only. The pillow is too soft and not able to support the neck at all. Only 1 bottle of water is provided per room and you have to pay to get more which is €3 per bottle with cash only vending machine.

Terrible, traumatic experience at check-in. Almost ruined a magical day of celebration. Very saddened by the behavior of almost everyone staffed here. With one exception, the staff at dinner were exceptional. Besides the sad state of service, the rooms and the hotel are tired and would benefit from a thorough renovation or, at least, a rating downgrade so they have a chance to compete in their class.

Very well located near the center of Bamberg. Easily accessible and with a covered car parking. The room are spacious and clean. Excellent breakfast with a variety of choices.

Five stars for rooms, one star for breakfast. Breakfast area is terribly crowded. Not a great selection. Oranje juice machine empty. Only one working coffee machine for hundreds of people.

Handsome looking hotel from the outside. Fairly modern on the inside. Really liked the breakfast. Good staff We booked a “superior” room to be told on arrival it was the basic room and did we want to upgrade. Maybe they should call it “regular” or “standard” in future Easy walk to the inner city

For the overall environment , it is a good hotel , but the air ventilation inside guest room and at the ball room must be improved. I feel stifling ! Air conditioning is suggested to be instilled.

This is a stately and very nice looking hotel on the outside and warm, clean and cozy on the inside. This hotel is situated directly below the Kloster Michelsberg and is about a 10 minute walk from the old town and sites such as Schlenkerla Brauerei and the Alt Rathaus. While not in the "heart" of old town, it is a comfortable and peaceful distance away. Distance from the Bahnhof is a little daunting and a walk to the other breweries and interesting points will be an effort for some, a trifle for others. We made the trek to the Bahnhof in about 30 minutes by foot on a random day but opted for a taxi for check-in and check-out days. From the main entrance of the hotel, turn right on the road and you will come upon the path leading up the hill to the Kloster and a wonderful view of Bamberg. The breakfast buffet was truly welcome each morning with a nice variety so pleasantly presented. Weisswurst, many yogurts, breads and pastries. Local sausages and champagne. Very, very nice. The room was great, perfect for our needs. It was a tad stuffy. While the air system seemed easy to figure out, I could never get it to work. Not a huge deal so I never brought it up to the staff at the moment. No Nespresso machine, alas, but the buffet makes up for that. The staff was cooly pleasant.

By far the BEST Breakfast spread I have ever seen! If you love breakfast food this is it. Rooms are ok, but the food was great.
