Welcome Seafood Restaurant

Came here as this seems to be the most popular seafood in the area, the whole block is one restaurant, some seatings are air conditioned and some without. The food personally I think was not bad, the seafood itself was fresh but the way they cooked was very basic. You pick up the type of seafood you want and they would ask you how you would like it to be cooked. I like fresh seafood steamed to be honest but they would recommend with salt and pepper. The sails were fresh and sweet and the fish was fresh and firmed. For clams they recommended cooking with chilly which I think was a waste as the flavour of clams was gone. The veggies dishes were not good at all, chewy and tasteless. The salt and pepper shrimps on the other hand were tasty.

Overall, Sabah offers a great seafood selection that is fresh. This place allows you to see the live fishes that you want to order. Mid to big size fishes here 🤙 definitely come in minimum 3-4pax to enjoy a variety of seafood. If you encounter a decision paralysis, just ask the staff and it will be fine. Their special sauce is sweet and tangy base, would recommend as a palate cleanser if you have been eating a lot of sambal and curry. Fried tofu is mid at best. Go for the seafood and Sabah vegetables (crunchy and not bitter) 👍 Wouldn't say this place is special, but it has fast services. Crowd is consistent here too.

The restaurant offers a wide selection of fresh seafood, with options to suit every palate. It's halal and provides a choice between dining in the open-air tented seating area or the comfort of an air-conditioned room. Prices vary depending on your order.

Definitely a tourist trap for me. Food were so so. Waited 30min just for a simple fry noodle and it tasted so sweet n dry. When paying, the cashier disappeared for more than 10min. I think if you were to try Welcome Seafood can consider Welcome 100% Seafood (at the corner same row as Welcome Seafood). Better and faster service. I personally like the taste there.

A must visit place on your trip to Kota Kinabalu. I got the Salted Egg Yolk Crab with Seafood Fried Rice and Lemon Water. Everything tasted great. They accept credit cards too which is great for tourists.

Welcome Seafood Restaurant is always buzzing, but don’t worry—you won’t have to wait long for a table! Their seafood menu may be limited, but they truly excel at what they offer, delivering fresh, high-quality dishes packed with flavor. We tried a variety of seafood, and every bite was delicious. The best part? The bill was surprisingly reasonable! This place is definitely our go-to seafood spot whenever we’re in Kota Kinabalu. Highly recommend!

Food taste is good. You are able to view and choose your seafood by weight and cooking style. Service is average and it really depends on your "captain" serving you. Food served is on the slow side. Overall this is a great place to try reasonable price, tasty chinese cooked seafood.

Busy place for fresh seafood cooked whatever style u like. Best to ask the supervisor to recommend the catch of the day. We love the fried fish done super crispy on the outside and flaky and firm on the inside. So good!
