Did not have to wait to be seated. Hostess was great. Once seated we waited for about 20 minutes (seriously) before a server came over to say hi and take a drink order. You come here for the atmosphere. Our bill was almost $300 for 2 people but it was our dinner with their limited menu. The chicken kraage...was basically 4 small chicken nuggets.

Google
Definitely worth the price for the food and atmosphere. Can't beat the views here. Some would say it's too expensive but read the menu and know what you are ordering. This is delicacies not stuffing your face. Every piece of food is exploding with flavor. Definitely recommend.

Amazing spot for cocktails and small plates. Ended up turning it into a dinner and we were far from disappointed. Live music and the view really set the vibe up for a perfect romantic dinner!

The only reason the food is 3 stars, you got to try Dolphin at Hanalei and then try food over here at Welina. Chilli salmon roll was okay and we had an appetizer, which I have had better in Michigan even though the time to table for the tuna at Michigan vs Hawaii is longer. But the rendition of chilli hamachi at Dolphin blew my mind. For the price I am paying here vs the experience is not the same at all. The sunset view was breathtaking and the cocktail that my wife had which was the black salt ginger something was not at all sweet and is one of the best we have had so far, hence the 3 stars.

Overall it was a beautiful hotel lounge and terrace was spectacular view of Halelei Bay and gorgeous sunset. You are going here for the view not the food . There is very limited food selection especially if you do not eat sushi or Brussels sprouts. Ordered the ahi roll and it was ok nothing memorable , my husband ordered yellowtail chili which was tasty but very very thin slice. My drinks was Kauai Tai very tasty for $24. Only 2 desert choices cheesecake not available and black sesame mochi cake with a tiny dollap of pistachio ice cream I mean tiny! My husband who loves ice cream was shocked and disappointed . Mochi tasted burnt. I’m sorry to write a bad food review but I feel kitchen could do better and improve the food for these high prices. Sadly I cannot recommend this restaurant except for the view and drinks. There is no signs for the bathroom so it’s hard to find them just ask a staff person as they are tucked away behind the spa area.

Exquisite Sushi, Perfect Small Plates & Impeccable Service Our dinner at Welina Terrace was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were met with warm, flawless service in a stunning setting that perfectly complements the relaxed luxury of 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. The sushi was outstanding—incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Each bite showcased the highest quality ingredients, expertly prepared. In addition to the sushi, we enjoyed a variety of delicious small plates, each one thoughtfully crafted and absolutely delightful. As with everything at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, the atmosphere was serene and elegant, creating the perfect space to unwind and enjoy an exceptional meal. Combined with the attentive, polished service, it was an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re looking for incredible sushi and small plates in an absolutely gorgeous setting, Welina Terrace is a must-visit. We will definitely be back!

Google
Our server was amazing and the food was great. Sadly we did have a bad experience with reservations. We called 45 minutes prior asking if they had availability. The women on the phone said they did and made us a reservation and said that she would see us soon. When we got there, the reservation was for 2 weeks from now and they couldn’t seat us right away. They added us to a waitlist and we had to wait even though I had an email showing a reservation. Overall food and our waitress were amazing but the rating reflects our overall experience.

Allie Pastore

Google
We were able to be seated without a reservation, (just 2 of us). We were seated on the patio and it took a long time to be approached by a server. We had sauce spilled on us twice, the service was slow, and the food was no where near worth the $. For two drinks, three rolls and a dessert we paid around $250 which is completely fine, however to be missing BOTH great food and great service, we were very sad to leave with the experience that we did.

Yelp
We came for a sunset dinner in July for a birthday celebration and left happy and full. Despite it being a rainy day that prevented the usual sunset show, the views were some of the best I've seen on the island. Service was spot on, the food was delicious and flavorful, and watching the sunset even on a rainy and slightly cloudy day makes this place worth going to at least once. Pros: Delicious food, friendly staff & service, and one of the best views on the island from a restaurant. Cons: N/A

Yelp
Pretty unimpressed. The deck feels smaller than it was when it was the Prince (though that could be a faulty memory). Prices are very high for what one is given. My companion had the veggie nigiri sampler. $24 for three pieces of sushi. I had the spicy tuna roll. Much more sushi for the same price. That said, it was a bit unimaginative and more spicy than flavorful. Drinks were truly mediocre (1944 Mai Tais). Shishito peppers were decent but even they lacked real flavor. The Mai Tais at Tahiti Nui are quite a bit better for less $$. All in all, a disappointing visit and I won't be returning. Lots of "influencer" types on the deck, taking constant photos of themselves. Honestly, seemed more like a place to be seen than a decent restaurant. Take that into account when reading some of these other "epic" reviews, please.

Yelp
The views at Welina are beautiful! We managed to arrive just as the sun was setting and enjoyed some drinks while waiting for our table. The food was a hit or a miss. I really enjoyed our appetizers (the Brussels sprouts were excellent) but I was then highly disappointed with the vegetarian flight I ordered. The price should have gotten me a better quality and quantity. Overall, not drawn back to this location in any way.

Yelp
We came here on an impromptu late dinner celebration after getting engaged in Kauai. Our server, Liz was such a gem! She was so thorough, engaging, and knowledgeable. She made our special day an even more special night. Although we were pushing closing, she was happy to continue serving us and was so patient. The cocktails, nigiri flights, and Wagyu were outstanding. We hope to be back here for our honeymoon!

Yelp
Celebrating our friend's LX milestone birthday on Kauai we drove half the island and visited the Waimea Canyon area before heading late to North Kauai. We searched late night options made late night reservations at the terrace expecting a hearty Japanese themed dinner menu with cocktails based on the most the recent Yelp reviews. Although it was too dark to appreciate ocean views from the lounge and showcase center bar, live jazz music was a great boon to the atmosphere as were subdued lighting, coffee tables and plushy seating. Alas, according to our server they made dramatic changes that reduced the "Bites" from 28 selections to literally 10 in Jan 2024. But, by the time we sat down it was too late to run down to get a 5-top table at their dinner restaurant. So, we trudged ahead and glanced at the meager offerings of pricy appetizers and cocktails. Service was efficient, and coordinated once we told them we were from a neighbor island in Hospitality they shared labor and housing challenges in Princeville. We sampled almost everything. Oysters were fresh, plump and seasoned with yuzu and pears. Waygu Katsu Beef Sandwich was tiny, but rich and flavorful. Snow Crab rolls were tasty, moist and seasoned. The tiny Bluefin Tuna and Vegetarian Nigiri "flights" were well presented. All items were sensitively seasoned and flavored which made up for minuscule portions and premium prices. So good, that we ordered practically another round of food still nursing my $26 Old Fashioned. Although we would have preferred a wider selection of shared plates it sufficed for dinner that night.

Yelp
Go here for stunning views of Hanalei bay and some tasty drinks! They're on the expensive side, but worth it with the views. We were a big group and got here before sunset and stayed here until it was dinner time for us.

Yelp
If the pictures don't show you how much we enjoyed this place then not sure what to say. The appetizer was amazing and so were the rolls we got. The sunset was like the icing on the cake. The service was top notch and made a somewhat hectic area a lot more manageable. The whole place was very nice and beautiful lots of views.

Yelp
Such a stunning view in luxurious Princeville. Located in the 1 Hotel, this bar and sushi lounge has one of the best views of the sunset. Some pro tips: -reservations are required -bar is first come first serve and they open right around 4 (and it gets busy) -there is a separate seating area that you can take in these views (but there's maybe 6 seats total) -if you aren't staying at the hotel and driving, it's valet only ($50); HOWEVER, if you spend $100+ they will validate The spicy margarita wasn't strong, but I loved the taste of it. Food was fine (nothing to rave, but it wasn't not tasty). You definitely come here for the views (and they won't disappoint). Our server Hannah was SO SO SO KIND. She helped take some photos of my husband and I, and she was really pleasant throughout our meal. Sometimes at these nicer places, the service can be somewhat judgmental, but she made the experience worth remembering.

Yelp
Wow. The food service and ambiance were exceptional. We dined here for a sunset celebratory dinner and they seated us at a table with panoramic views of the ocean. Food is tapas style and we ordered various plates of the freshest sushi. The server Hi'ilei was very attentive and checked on us frequently but not too frequently. Make a reservation and dine here asap!

Yelp
We arrived at 4:55pm, a rainy afternoon, in Hanalei, in late October. The place was 25% full. We informed the host and hostess that we were here for cocktails and bites, maybe dinner. We were kindly informed there were no available tables for dinner, but the bar was first come, first served. The room is beautifully appointed and modest, as the view may be one of the most gorgeous views of Nature there is on the planet. Breath-taking, even on a stormy, rainy evening with the sun going down, peeking momentarily through the clouds. A full display of grays and charcoal, in an ever changing dance of light and shadows I had ever witnessed. Most of the bar stools were removed. Two stools were calling us to sit now, and forever hold your peace. We sampled the two options for Mai Tais, in a couple of rounds, and a couple small plates. Outstanding on both accounts. We both took turns to walk out to the terrace to take in the views. Most everyone on the terrace was drop-jawed at the ominous beauty that we were surrounded by and very friendly. The place was full to the brim with in 5-7 minutes. We felt so lucky to have the seats we had on a spontaneous, impromptu urging to go visit, 30 minutes prior. You want dinner? Make reservations. Of course it's going to be expensive. What a treat!

Yelp
Why do humans feel so obligated to eat a meal with a view? Why not just have a great meal and stay focused on it? Then again, why contemplate questions when humans want everything at once: the food, the setting, the sights. Welina Terrace hits the criteria fairly well. Overlooking what might just be one of the most spectacular sights of the world, Welina Terrace is a gorgeous place. It's the flagship restaurant of new 1 Hotel and focuses on contemporary American takes on sushi. The dishes are excellent indeed. Some odd misses are also there, such as the local tiny crab, which are just simply too hard to eat whole. The wine list is spectacular, but the issue rests in many bottles being consistently out. Thus, ordering here is a bit difficult. While all staff are amazing, the restaurant was consistently understaffed every night of the four night visit here. It's a major mix of ups and downs when it comes to service, but efficiency is certainly not one of them. For a restaurant of this caliber, that needs to be sorted out. Despite that, the views and the interior are worth a visit here. People are very nice. The food is prepared extremely well also. Thus, while Welina Terrace needs to work out some peculiar details, it's a uniquely positioned restaurant with a wonderful menu.

Yelp
Place has potential but serious flaws. Went for sunset view cocktails for special occasion with gf and family. The view is spectacular, the grounds of the hotel are pretty and worth a visit. However the bar is poorly designed and the bartenders are what you expect at a mediocre sports or dive bar. For cocktails in the $24 - $45 range they should have 5 star mixologists with unique drinks and great liquor. Terribly disappointing, drinks were ok, mediocre at best and hardly as described in the menu. We decided not to eat there. At least the Valet was A+ and had Aloha spirit.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the 1 Hotel for our babymoon at the beginning of March. We made dinner reservations for the 1 Kitchen and came here for some drinks and to watch the sunset before making our way to dinner. The night we came, it happened to be cloudy, so the sunset wasn't as spectacular as it usually is. However, if you choose to stay at the 1 Hotel, Welina Terrace shares its space with Neighbors (from 6-2). We enjoyed watching the sun rise and the beauty of Hanalei Bay in the mornings. As others have noted, there are few tables on the terrace. Majority of tables do not have views for sunset. We were lucky enough to be seated at a table with a view. ***Another big note: Welina Terrace's hours and menu have changed. They no longer serve lunch/dinner, just drinks and appetizers. The bar opens at 4 pm and appetizers are served starting at 5 pm.*** Service was good- we had reservations and were seated promptly after checking in with the host. Our waitress was good as well. Drinks were on the pricer side, but this is something I was expecting. I appreciate them for having a zero-proof section on their drink menu. My husband enjoyed his drink and my drink was tasty- not too sweet. We also ordered the shishito peppers as a snack- they were delicious! Again, appetizers are on the pricer side. One minor complaint/suggestion to Welina Terrace- please get more comfortable seating options! Most of the seating options are patio-like furniture with no back support. It would have been helpful to have some more throw pillows for more comfortable seating. Overall, our experience was good. It was definitely a splurge, but a good place for a romantic evening with beautiful views before baby comes.

Yelp
We had a delightful dinner here... food, drinks, and service were all five stars. All of the items we ordered were fresh and nicely seasoned. We'll definitely dine here again when we're on the island!

Yelp
Dining at Welina Terrace was one of my all-time favorite dining experiences. We arrived early for our reservation and got drinks at the bar. The beauty of the location on Hanalie Bay, the opulence of the Hotel and Bar, the entertainment in the Bar, and the overall vibrancy of the restaurant were special. The views of the Bay and the Hotel surroundings are amazing! Diner was out of this world. We had a wonderful waiter who was very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu leans heavy on Japanese food and Sushi. Food we loved. Many selections with small enough food samples were consumed. The presentation was beautiful and the food was delicious. Service was also in line with what one would expect from such a restaurant. Excellent! Pricey? I have had more expensive dinners that were not as enjoyable. Treat yourself and I think you will agree.

Yelp
Food, service, view, it's worth it! Me and my wife came here 7 years ago and the upgrades since then are perfect! The new design and ambience are amazing. Free valet parking if you spend over $100 at the restaurant.

Yelp
Would give the restaurant 6 stars if I could! Overall had an incredible experience for a number of reasons. Ambiance: I mean come on, the view was incredible! Even on the overcast day we visited, it was eerily beautiful in a different way and breathtaking. The vibe of the restaurant was also very chic, upscale, but not overly fancy (like some places where you feel like you need to eat the food in a specific way otherwise you feel out of place). Staff: our waitress Hannah was so sweet and kind. She provided us with everything we needed, gave great food recommendations, and was attentive to our needs. Food: drool. My goodness, some of the things we ate were bar none some of the best things we've had. The shrimp tempura was probably my least favorite, but even then it was fried to perfection, not oily, and very crispy + the cab wine salt was delish. We thought the beef tataki was amazing, and it was, but then we got the kurobuta tontoro and that thing melted in my mouth and was SO flavorful. Miso marinated Japanese market fish (we got butter fish) was SO delicious, we ordered it again. I'm a big sushi lover and have had some incredible sushi in my life, but the uni & ikura here were really clean and delicious. Our waitress recommended the wagyu nigiri and that didn't disappoint either. Ended the meal with fried ice milk for our honeymoon and it was delicious!! Drinks: expensive cocktails but wow mine was made with a high quality whiskey and was perfectly balanced. My husband's was as well, but made with a rye. And they were fulllll drinks. Who doesn't love a cocktail that's actually full?! Price: can't believe the value and quality you get for the price. Was it a splurge for us? Yes. Was it insanely expensive? Not at all. I've had way worse meals in SF for far more and I left this meal full and joyful. Would love to visit again!!

Yelp
Wow this view is phenomenal. Located in the One Hotel Hanalei Bay. We stopped in for sunset and had some cocktails before our reservation here. The view is spectacular and is really worth the hype. The cocktails were absolutely phenomenal and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings. We sat down for light bites on the terrace with a view. The snow crab hand roll with miso butter was our favorite thing on the menu by far but the drinks stood out the most to me. Definitely expensive but worth it for the experience.
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
We dined here 2x while staying at the 1 hotel on our honeymoon and were not disappointed. While a small menu, each dish was packed with flavor and the views and service can't be beaten. Not to mention, the drinks are incredible. Our favorite dish across both meals were the wagyu katsu sandwiches. All of the fish is incredibly fresh and bright. You can't go wrong here!
google avatar

Adrienne H.

Yelp
If you are looking for an upscale sushi place this is your place. Disclaimer I am not a real suchi eater or raw food fan. When you drive up you get a real oasis feeling. The decor here is so nice. They have valet parking in the front. We were seated pretty quickly. Our server was amazing and very attentive. I ordered the tempura shrimp which was perfectly cooked. I also ordered the crab roll which was phenomenal. They also had live music and a really nice view.
google avatar

Tesa K.

Yelp
The food menu is limited, however the food they do serve is delicious and very pricey. The service is horrendous. The servers look lost and confused. The manager seems to be spending most of his time flirting and schmoozing with the employees. Service is very slow. The servers are nice, when you can get them to help you. The ambiance is beautiful. Probably why they can charge their insane prices for bad service and decent food you can get from a food truck.
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
The restaurant has great ambiance and great views! I thought the food was just ok. We ordered the edamame, shishito peppers, wagyu sandwich, chili hamachi & the wellina roll. Nothing stood out and I probably wouldn't go back to for the food. The drinks however were nice and I would go back for that + the views.

William R.

Yelp
The staff here is among the nicest anywhere in the world. They create an atmosphere of joy that matches the sheer beauty of the setting, surely one of the most spectacular views in the world. The Kauai Tai was also pretty fabulous-- a super balanced and flavourful take on the classic Mai Tai, and maybe the only variant I've tried in decades of trips to Hawaii even better than the original. The only disappointment was the food. Last time we ate here, the former chef was a master, producing some of the most exquisite sushi in the world. This time the choices were limited and the cooking only so so. Still, we had a wonderful evening watching the sunset over the cliffs made famous as Hollywood's Bali Hai.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
Small menu but everything was good and the view is incredible. Enjoyed the classic Mai Tai and old fashioned. Nice place to spend sunset.

Jen D.

Yelp
Cocktails were outstanding; creative and high quality ingredients- worth the price. Service was very quick & attentive--- otherwise don't eat here. Food was lacking flavor and outrageously overpriced. Raw fish was served warm and fishy, shishitos under seasoned, and a singular mochi piece for dessert--- not worth the hefty price tag with so many other "fresh fish" spots within 3 miles that are half the price with significantly better food.

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Robbie and Anwar are the best! Had the best time waiting for our table chatting with them at the bar. 10 out of 10 experience!!
google avatar

Ira B.

Yelp
Good food and drinks, the space is beautiful, located inside an upscale hotel. Service was fast.
google avatar

Alex E.

Yelp
Views and ambiance were stellar. The live music really made it special. The food was ok. Our server was great. At one point I asked the hostess if we could move to a regular table for the dinner service. She actually rolled her eyes. Make sure you get seated where you want at the very beginning so you don't have to deal with the hostess with an attitude issue. Overall, great night.
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
5 star ambiance 4 star service 3 star drink/food for the price. $24 cocktails for mostly juice and presentation. Bites are good but absolutely microscopic. Just know you're paying for the ambiance and nothing else.

The Truth T.

Yelp
Super expensive with a very limited menu. Cocktails were good but $27 each! View was great.

Nicole R.

Yelp
The service, bartenders, and view at Welina absolutely make the experience. The views from the lounge are beautiful and you can see a great sunset. Carlos was absolutely incredible as well. He made our experience at the bar due to his incredible crafty cocktails both on and off the menu. Robbie and Daegon were two other incredible bartenders. Everyone gave us recommendations for local hikes and spots to see, which was a huge help. The personable staff made for a great experience. We also enjoyed the food here. Definitely recommend the Katsu Sandwich and the crab hand roll. Only comment, I wish they had a bigger menu because the food was all so great!
google avatar

Cora J.

Yelp
I have legit never experienced a more unprofessional and rude staff as I have at Wilena Terrace. It almost single-handedly ruined our experience at the 1. Keep in mind this is coming from someone whose spent most of my adult life in Los Angeles experiencing some of the worst and most pretentious staff members. We went to multiple restaurants on property multiple times and felt so uncomfortable and weird as here. The 1? Super cool crew. Every bar? Every restaurant? Super cool crew? Welina Terrace? Why am I begging you to take my order? Why are bartenders, waiters, hosts, chefs not communicating? Absolutely ridiculous, unfriendly, unprofessional crew. This is a luxury resort with some of the most unprofessional staff members period. Do. Not. Go. Here.
google avatar

Katelyn M.

Yelp
This place reminds me of somewhere sceney in Santa Monica/LA, a bunch of influencer people just there to take photos and be obnoxious. The service was horrible. Food was so expensive and not worth it at all. Pretty sure the mochi was Bubbie's. I should have just gone to the grocery store, would've gotten better flavors at a better price. Although the view is incredible, I will not be back.
google avatar

Janice L.

Yelp
The baked snow crab roll was beyond delicious and I love they have Zero-proof drink selections! Service from the car valet, and from Dem in Welina Terrace was seamless. I had a bit of a mix up when I first arrived because the website said no reservations needed, but Dem fixed me right up with a little table in The Kitchen area and I'll know to make a reservation next time. Dem really went above & beyond to make sure I had a wonderful experience celebrating my birthday . The ambiance is relaxing and comfortably upscale, with gorgeous views at sunset and after, and lush greenery, waterfalls, and fire features throughout the 9th floor. I highly recommend Welina Terrace!
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
The stunning views from the Welina Terrace at sunset 1 Hotel is enough to demand everyone's presence at least once but be prepared for LA inspired pretentiousness. Can't tell if it's imported or part of the curriculum. Manager of the 1 I know finding quality employees must be an extraordinarily difficult job but in order to pull off the vibe of this hotel, which is still clearly trying to find its pulse, you must endeavor to go local or risk utter failure. Can't help but notice beyond the swanky appearance this new hotel is built on a very thin veneer.
google avatar

Veronica M.

Yelp
This is a must stop if you are in Princeville, especially during sunset. The food is amazing from the shishito peppers to wagyu sliders. The blue cheese olives in the dirty martini are the best I've ever had. It's a peaceful yet vibrant setting with views that won't disappoint. And if you're at the bar area be sure to say Hi to Robby!
google avatar

Kelsey D.

Yelp
Just had the best birthday dinner and drinks here. My boyfriend made a reservation for sunset, we were sat at a comfy couch overlooking the ocean. It was raining but still such a pretty view. Our server Olivia was so sweet, kind, and attentive. She offered great suggestions and made us feel like not just another guest, but a friend :) She even brought out a special bday dessert which paired so well with an espresso martini. The chili hamachi was my favorite and my boyfriend loved the nigiri. Manhattan was a 10/10. Definitely coming back here next time we visit.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Great sunset view. Beautiful surroundings. You pay for this as the food was mediocre. Their version of chicken small plate were dry tough and not up to McDonalds chicken nugget caliber. Very sub par. Spicy tuna roll looked beautiful but taste was underwhelming.

Ryan A.

Yelp
I went to the Welina Terrace today the food there was not bad but when we went outside to take pictures with the sunset there was a hole in the floor that I fell into and hurt my foot I ask to talk with the manger them one of the valet people came out they did not care that I got hurt then they waited till someone got hurt to put a sign up.

Yelp
What an amazing experience and exceptional food! We were blown away by both the service and Japanese cuisine! I had made reservations for our wedding night, and it was the perfect place to celebrate. We were seated on the patio, and even though it was dark it was still beautiful. We ordered the Chili Hamachi, the Uni Pasta, and the Kani Mayo roll. They were all amazing and tasted so incredibly fresh! Our finale was a beautiful rolled cake with the word "Congratulations" on it. When we left, Stephanie the manager asked if we would like to come back again the next night, and we enthusiastically accepted her offer. She made us reservations for sunset the next night. When we returned the next night, Stephanie greeted us personally and seated us on the balcony again, in order to best see the sunset. The view was incredible! She recommended the tuna nigiri, and we ended up having 4 different pieces. They were also incredible! We also had the White Tiger roll and loved it as well. At sunset there was a ceremony with fire and a hula dancer. It was absolutely beautiful! Both nights were absolutely magical, and Stephanie made us feel like VIP's! On future trips to Kauai, we will definitely return to Welina Terrace!

Yelp
Today is thanksgiving day and my husband and I were thinking of some of our highlights of our trip and we both agreed that dinner on the Terrace was a huge highlight, mainly due to Eugenio, the GM at the restaurant. we are so grateful for Eugenios friendliness, attention to detail and making us keel like royalty with his service. highly recommend place and staff we will not forget this experience

Yelp
We all agreed this was one of the best meals we've had in a while! (Far and away the best on the island) Honestly, this place just does everything right. The lighting and music are at the perfect level. The service is charming and attentive. Timing immaculate. And the food? Oh my god the food. There wasn't anything we didn't love - we started with the chili hamachi, truffle salmon and brussels sprouts (this was the most basic dish, but still - we really liked it!) Next, we did a sashimi flight from the chef - every bite was perfectly prepared and delicious. Finally, we ended with the miso marinated fish and the tempura crab legs with truffle butter (the latter was a recommendation from our server - not something we would have ordered, but absolutely exquisite). I really loved how they'd check in between each course to see how hungry we still were, shaping the experienced based on our answer. We never felt rushed, and always felt taken care of. It's not a cheap meal ($420 for 3 people, before gratuity - included the above, a cocktail each and dessert) - but totally worth it. I've paid a great deal on the island for mediocre meals that I regretted, and I'd rather pay a bit more for an exquisite one.

Shelly A.

Yelp
I recently came to this establishment for a quick bite but, I had a dreadful experience. First I was notified that the one fryer they had was broken and I was really dissatisfied. Then I went on the terrace to go take a picture but was surrounded by bugs biting me everywhere. The bugs followed me back to my food and kept biting my family and I. We went back out the take a family photo and a lady with a baby where waking then a tile broke from under them . The women and her baby fell down and almost 10 feet down the cliff. I do not recommend this place with their horrible establishment, broken terrace, and slow service.

Yelp
This newly rebuilt/renovated resort is exceptional! The restaurant is a grand open space with floor to ceiling accordion doors leading to a large patio overlooking Hanalei bay and the ocean. The drink list is quite extensive with a selection of wines and cocktails. The selection of small share plates are great accompaniments I think the best part of our visit was sitting on the oversized sofa looking out the patio doors and seeing the changing colours of the sunset. There is live entertainment that starts at 6:30 pm and a brief welcome hula dance just beforehand. It was a wonderful way to recognize the traditional dance and the preservation of a culture by the establishment. The portions are small but allows you to have a decent sampling of this chef's culinary expertise. The Japanese fusion menu is well prepared and enough of a selection to fill your tummies. This is a great place to gather with friends yet is intimate and romantic enough for just two. It is upscale and pricer than surrounding restaurants and food trucks do you can't really compare it to those. It is priced accordingly for an establishment like this and on Kauai, there aren't many upscale eateries. So if you're looking for a more elegant evening out, this is the place. You'll just have to come experience this gem for yourselves, prices do reflect the atmosphere and top notch service. I'd definitely come again!

Yelp
My wife and I came here towards the end of our honeymoon, even though we weren't staying at the resort. We were able to secure a spot at the bar because we got there near open, and were well taken care of the entire night. The food here was all excellent - definitely recommend the Chilli Hamachi appetizer, the edamame, and the pork belly as well. All of the sushi we got was excellent - this place is definitely on the pricey side but the fish is of exceptional quality. Next time I would stick to the sashimi/nigiri instead of getting rolls, but the crunchy salmon roll was very good. Only thing I'd skip is the shrimp tempura - presentation and portion size just not worth the price. Lastly, have to give a special shoutout to our bartenders, Mark and Carlos. Both were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive (and Carlos makes the best cocktail on the island, according to my wife). Would love to come back and watch the sunset here, had an excellent time!

Yelp
Five stars for the service provided by Dave the bartender!! Three stars for the extraordinarily tiny portions of food. The high cost of food and drinks is rewarded by a drop dead gorgeous view of Hanalei as the sun sets behind the picturesque mountains and gleaming gold reflections onto the bay. The view doesn't get any better than this. Of course, this is what you are paying for. The cocktails were tasty and the food was delicious, but let's just say $300+ and I still left hungry. Though I really enjoyed the flavor of all the dishes I ordered (otoro, uni, scallops, brussel sprouts, salmon, shrimp tempura, hamachi, wagyu), every single dish were smaller than I imagined small would be. I've eaten at hundreds of sushi restaurants and the size of their nigiri is half the size of normal nigiri. $32 for two scallops $16 for two shrimp tempura $16 for one otoro $23 for a tiny 6pc roll the size of my finger Tip: the hotel only accepts valet parking, which costs a whopping $100. They said spend $100+ at the restaurant and valet is complimentary. Easy enough. Tip: make sure to make a res weeks in advance for a sunset time and sunset view, you will not want to miss out. Bar is open seating but fills out quickly and there's only like 10 chairs. Overall, I would go back for the amazing sunset view, live music by Bronson, and stellar service by Dave! Can pupu but don't come hungry. Eat before you go.

Yelp
We made a reservation to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday here, but left after receiving the most atrocious service. The hostess was very friendly (she even congratulated us on our celebratory night after asking if we were there for something special), and the view is unparalleled. Even with that, we were so turned off by the lack of service, we left. We waited a very long time for our server to come over and hurriedly take our drink order with no greeting. He then dropped the drinks off over 10 minutes later and never returned despite passing us by MANY times. We left cash on the table and walked out. Wasting almost an hour of our evening was really disappointing. As we were leaving, the manager tried to give me a free drink- only once he went back to check the table to make sure we had left cash despite never receiving the bill (how RUDE), but it was too little too late. A few specific tables were receiving very attentive and quick service by many staff members, but I guess my 4 carat diamond ring wasn't big enough for our server to think we were important. Never again. Do better.
