"Charles Baudelaire’s enigmatic poem Bien Loin d’ici ('Far, far from here') beautifully describes a maiden sleeping in a distant chamber where winds and waters sing afar. As the doors to Bien Loin d’Ici swing open in front of us, the poem's inspiration becomes immediately clear: we are greeted with the smell of Provencal lavender, the sight of dragonflies gliding between poppies, and the sound of water lapping at the edge of a pool. This oh-so-romantic bolthole is the epitome of laidback rural luxury. Surrounded by trees and hidden among the hills above the glistening ancient city of Nîmes, it was created by Manuel, a former Parisian engineer, for the purpose of providing total escapism for romantic couples. Each of its three chic wooden lodges is uniquely designed with sumptuous beds and utterly private sprawling terraces boasting sunken Jacuzzis and saunas. The hotel has impressive eco credentials (it's Green Key certified), the garden is bursting with colour and the infinity pool beckons for late night dips. Breakfast is brought to your door each morning and the pool bar is stocked with locally-produced wines and champagnes. Sheer luxury and such a wonderful environment and hosts… we had a sublime stay in our Luxe Lodge where we recharged our worn out batteries and ate delicious breakfasts delivered by magic to our private terrace! Unforgettable so thank you Manuel and Elodie who have created such a unique haven.

We loved our 2-night stay! We especially appreciated that it is located just 4km outside Nimes and is a welcome escape from the city. It is also well located to visit Uzes which we loved. It is a charming village that is a hidden gem. Well worth a visit. The breakfast is delicious and wonderful to enjoy on the deck outside. Modern room and very comfortable bed. Loved the pool area. Highly reccomend!

Pleasant place with good eco credentials- but not sure it’s worth the price they charge. Downside are there were only limited sockets by the fridge /kettle and bathroom plus a lot of mosquitoes in July. Also the cabin has fixed seats in the corner and on the balcony that weren’t that comfortable as too close to the wall / balcony edge. The pool though was lovely. You are given privacy but that means no cleaning unless you ask and you have to go find the owner for top up of drinking water. Really enjoyed the stay although compared to other places we stayed on same trip it’s quite expensive for what it offers.

This is truly a wonderful and tranquil place to stay! ||||The accommodations are gorgeous , spotlessly clean and well thought out!! ||||We loved relaxing on our deck, snoozing in the hammock and enjoying the hot tub. It was very serene and we both felt that we could have been far far away from anywhere, perhaps in Thailand or the Maldives. ||||The plentiful breakfast arrived at our preferred time in a fabulous picnic hamper, everything delicious! On our second evening a chef from a local restaurant came to cook a wonderful 3 course evening meal which was served to us on our deck by the chef herself.||We were particularly lucky to experience this as it is only once a week that this happens. It was just amazing! ||||The hosts, Élodie and Manuel are both very lovely people. They make it their mission to make your stay as perfect for you as possible. They clearly have worked very hard to create this unique place to stay. ||||I can’t recommend this wonderful retreat enough! ||||We had a lovely stay, everything was perfect, and a unique experience! ||||Thank you very much Élodie and Manuel!

We had exceptionally high expectations for our 2 night stay with Manuel and Elodie after scouring the reviews. I can honestly say everything about our stay exceeded our expectations; the Calm lodge with its private terrace, beautiful views, Hammam and spa, the 5 course meal delivered to our room by Chef-extraordinaire Eve of Le Coin, the breakfast baskets with homemade jams, and the warm hospitality of our hosts. To say we felt pampered would be an understatement - Bien Loin d’ici is très romantique and exceptional!

Manuel takes service and attentiveness to new heights, providing an environment and experience that's almost indescribable. In a quiet and picturesque setting, with a careful eye towards sustainability and nature, a stay here is simply a stunning experience. The breakfasts are outstanding, the dinner options are delicious, and you will not want to leave but will have a new understanding of relaxation when you do. The stay here with my partner will rank as one of the most memorable travel experiences of our lives, period.

There are three cabins, each with personal jacuzzis and saunas and great shared salt water pool. They are beautifully designed cabins with comfortable beds. Breakfast is delivered each morning. Manuel is very helpful and perfect host. This is an adults only space and is therefore very calm and relaxing. ||||Although it feels like you are in the countryside, in fact you are a only a short drive from Nimes and Uzes. There is so much to do in the area. Highly recommended place to stay.

My team and I had the chance to be welcomed at Bien loin d'ici while we were filming a tv show about eco-tourism for TV5 and we were all in awe. Manu and Elodie were wonderful hosts, they are so generous, easy going and such interesting people! The rooms are amazing, the gardens so lush and relaxing, the beautiful pool and the private jacuzzi and saunas make the experience unique. It was such a memorable experience, I hope I have the chance to visit again and I would recommend this place to everyone!
