We camped at Wellington Caves for a night using a tent, and although we originally planned to stay longer, the cold got the better of us! It was a freezing night for my liking, and unfortunately, you can’t have your own fire by your campsite — there are designated firepits, which is understandable but made it a little tough to keep warm next to our tent.
What I really loved about the place is how much there is to do without even leaving the area. We went on the Cathedral Cave tour and our guide, Nick, was fantastic — so knowledgeable and engaging. There’s also a guided fossil experience, a golf course, and a beautiful Japanese garden nearby. The campground caters to caravans, tents, and also has cabins available. The bathroom facilities were clean and well-maintained, with hot showers. There’s a camp kitchen, TV room, and even a laundry, which is super handy for longer stays.
The whole area is calm, quiet, and filled with kangaroos hopping around, gorgeous sunsets, and incredible dark skies at night — perfect for stargazing. It is child friendly, dog friendly and wifi is available.
The only thing I wished for was a bit more space between campsites and the ability to light a small fire by our tent for warmth.
Would definitely go back, especially with family. It’s the kind of place where you don’t need to leave because everything you need for a relaxing and fun little getaway is right there.
