I really enjoyed my visit to the Wellington Museum. Free entry for Kiwis is such an added bonus! The exhibits were engaging and easy to explore, and I especially loved the section on the Wahine disaster — the short documentary was powerful and really helped to build an understanding of the full story of what happened. I didn’t get the chance to make it up to the third floor due to a school group, but I’ve heard it’s beautiful with lots of retro pieces, so I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend checking it out!

It was an amazing experience for my family. Such a great way to make learning fun. Interactive and immersive with lots of information, going from ancient history to modern day. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Tour guide was knowledgeable and able to answer questions. Self walk through was pleasant. Plenty to read, some interactive exhibits. A must see early in your trip to understand the history of the area. Free for locals, cost for tourist. Small extra charge for guided tour, runs on the hour.

I visited on Oct 8. This is a great place to learn about the history of Wellington. Make sure to visit the attic and the Time Machine (or whatever is currently there). I would put in at least an hour there, if not two.

Recently went to the Wellington Museum, first time in a few years. The exhbits were great, very comprehensive in thier information and many of them were quite fun and engaging. The more somber or serious topics were really well presented.

A must visit., wonderful and innovative Was impressed by what this little Museum had to offer. A lot of work was on display . Was thoroughly impressed by the holographic display with video tutorials. The time machine was creatively done . So good this place was, actually there should have been a change to enter instead of it being free.

Absolutely amazing! I've been to many museums and those about city history are often not the most interesting, but this one is extraordinary. So much to discover. I'm really impressed by the creativity, passion and attention to detail that went into these exhibitions. My favourites are of course the big carpet with a map of Wellington, the collection of historic news films about Wellington on the ground floor, the retelling of Māori stories on the second floor and that the exhibition on the ground floor is both in Māori and English. I will definitely come back. (don't forget to donate if you can, when you visit)

Wonderful facilities for the event we attended. The guests speaker was amazing and the staff were really helpful. Our kids enjoyed exploring the museum afterwards.

Yelp
A small museum worth taking a look. We decided to come here and take a look around. Just like te papa, this museum was also free admission. We quickly looked around and went through all the floors. This museum had a good mix of interactive exhibits, videos, and information. Overall, not a bad museum, but I would rather go to te papa if I was short on time.

Yelp
An amazing experience albeit being smaller than The Papa. It has plenty to offer especially for a younger audience. My favourite levels were those that allowed for one to vote for an alternate story or name to some things and had a short hologram describing a certain legend involving Maui, and my second most favourite level was the level describing the origins of Wellington.

Yelp
Very different from that other big museum in Wellington. This one is focused on the history of the city, which was quite interesting. Lots of focus on ships and events in the city. Very interactive. Worth your time.

Yelp
Don't miss this hidden gem in Wellington. Admission is free and the exhibits are everything you could wish for in a museum--interactive, informative, something for all ages. Expect to dabble more than dive and focus on the stories told by artifacts. Don't miss the attic at the very top! Dim and full of creaky wood flooring, it will show you all sorts of historical gems in an atmospheric room. Learn about the Wahine disaster with an emotional film and listen to Maori fables with a very clever holographic display.
