We stayed at Quellenhof for a few days with our child in July 2025. While some parts of the experience were enjoyable — particularly for kids — the overall stay did not live up to the 5-star standards the hotel claims, especially considering the price.
Let’s start with the positives: the resort offers a wide range of activities for children, and the facilities for them are extensive. Our child loved the karting and horse riding — both were well-run and fun. There’s no doubt this place is geared toward families.
But beyond that, the experience fell short in many ways.
First, the marketing sets unrealistic expectations. The room photos on the website are heavily photoshopped. We booked a room with a “Terrasse zum Acqua Parc,” which was indeed close to the slides — just a few meters away, offering very little privacy. However, the wide-angle promotional shots made it look like the slides were far in the distance, with an open panoramic view. That kind of image manipulation sets you up for disappointment.
The rooms themselves felt tired and not well maintained. Ours had a warped floor, broken tiles, curtains you couldn’t fully close, and a ceiling full of insects when we arrived — likely because the window had been left open before check-in. Housekeeping had to come back immediately. Not a huge issue on its own, but again, not what you’d expect from a luxury resort.
The main restaurant was another mismatch between image and reality. The photos suggest a bright, elegant space, but in reality it’s buried into the hillside with no natural light. As for the food: it wasn’t bad, but definitely not 5-star quality. The buffet featured mostly industrial-prepared items — acceptable for a mid-range resort, but not at this level of pricing.
The resort’s layout is chaotic and confusing. It clearly expanded over time with no real master plan, and getting around feels like navigating a maze. It lacks the intuitive flow and sense of calm you expect from a high-end property.
But what left the worst impression was the attitude. Throughout our stay, and even afterward, we didn’t feel like valued guests. The tone was transactional — more focused on what we were spending than on how we were treated. After several exchanges with Markus from quality management, I ultimately decided to write this review because the conversation wasn’t a two-way street. Feedback was acknowledged, but not truly heard.
Quellenhof seems more concerned with selling an image than delivering a genuine luxury experience. I expect they’ll respond here with a polished explanation — but I’ll let future guests judge for themselves.
For us, it was an overpriced and forgettable stay. We won’t be returning, and we’ll be advising friends and family to look elsewhere.
