I visited the Wensleydale Creamery with my two young daughters (ages 1 and 4) and we all had a lovely time. The demonstration on how cheese is made was really interesting, and it was great to be able to view the factory in action. The cheese tasting was a highlight for me – so many varieties to try, and all delicious. I also found the prices in the shop and café to be very reasonable, which was a nice surprise. My girls especially enjoyed the interactive parts of the visitor experience, which kept them engaged and made it fun for the whole family. Overall, it’s a great place for both adults and children to enjoy. I’d definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the Yorkshire Dales.

Loved the Cheese Experience which was fun and informative. The shop and cheese room is full of delights to buy. However the restaurant really let it down. Overpriced for the quality received, tables available but told full initially and there seemed to be chaos amongst younger staff working out table spaces at front of restaurant yet ignoring those waiting to be seated or to find out if there is space. Restaurant was really completely disappointing.

This was great fun. We didn't book in advance but it turns out that we didn't need to. The demonstration how to make Wensleydale cheese was very informative (And we used a 2 for 1 offer), full of information on the surrounding area and the instructor/demonstrator was a very likable gent. When we finished, we did have a booking in the restaurant and went for the tea for two which was a full on cheese overload! The staff did forget our drinks order so the wife had to go and reminded them, but apart from that the service was OK. It was a nice and relaxed atmosphere and reasonably priced for this day and age :-). The shop was chock full of nice gifts and I couldn't resist a new water bottle (Have you seen this chicken? IYKYK). The cheese shop was brilliant, being able to test all the cheeses before making a purchase. The surrounding area is beautiful and the drive to and from was a pleasure.

Had a great time here, probably helps that I love cheese. Staff very friendly and efficient. Reasonable prices. Excellent cafe. Enjoyed the cheese making experience and tastings. We probably rushed it a little as we needed to drive home. Worth a visit only £5.75 and if you pick up a leaflet from various outlets you can get 2 for 1

Lovely day out. Interesting demonstration on the making of the cheese and lovely cheeses in the tasting room. My daughter treat me to an early father's day present, the cheesy afternoon tea. Best bit was the 3 cheese quiche. Chips are fab. Nice gift shop and deli

Google
Absolutely incredible and a must do experience when you are in the Yorkshire Dales. For the bargain price of £5.75 you can get a thorough lesson in cheese making, as well as learn the history of this interesting place. The museum is full of details and the cheese tasting at the end is delightful. Note if you want to see the factory running you will need to visit on a weekday as it is closed on a weekend.

What a great place. Much bigger than I was expecting, they've certainly made the most out of their association with Wallis and Gromit. There's a large gift shop selling a wide range of goods including; Pottery, gin, beer, biscuits, smelly stuff as well as cheese, of course. We paid to watch a demonstration on how they make cheese, around £5.50 for adults. They run demonstrations at certain times throughout the day. We enjoyed it as well as looking at all the old equipment and hearing about how it all started.

Came a bit late in the day, so didn’t have lots of time to visit the different areas. We sampled some cheeses and ended up buying some to take home. Then we stopped at the cafe for a cuppa, and cheese scone! We had a decaf tea and would have liked a Yorkshire decaf! The cheese scone came with a slice of Wensleydale, butter and chutney, which was delicious . There’s plenty of seats outside which was fab, with the afternoon sun on my back!!

Yelp
As a cheese lover, this was something of a pilgrimage for me, one of my most anticipated stops of my trip to the UK. The sample room offered up 20 samples of divine cheese; pure bliss for me. We then went to the Kit Calvert restaurant for lunch. It was crowded and service was a bit slow and disconnected, such as we had no salt and pepper on our table and were ever asked about drink refills. The food, however, was amazing. I went with the full Cheese Experience (3 courses) while my husband had two. We went with two different cheesy starters, both delectable. I had the chicken with smoked cheese. The breast was perfectly cooked in a lake of cheese sauce, with the rosti beneath it (like a thin hashbrown) added a nice crunch. For my dessert course, we shared the ginger cheesecake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Neither of us are cheesecake people but we declared this the best we have ever had. It wasn't as sweet as American cheesecakes, and had a pleasant cragginess with ginger warmth as a complement. The ice cream was also better than what you find most anywhere in America--fresh and creamy. What a glorious meal!

Yelp
Touring England with family, a 10 minutes drive from the Stow House, where we stayed the night, is this great little creamery rich in history. Cafe, gift shop, toilets, and lots of parking. I recommend Wensleydale Smoked Cheddar or the pineapple :)

Yelp
This is a great place to stop in. You can sample all the cheeses! The cafe and restaurant features their cheese and butter prominently and for a few pounds extra you can walk through their visitor's center and watch the cheese being made and get a cheese making demonstration. Everyone is friendly and informative and I learned a lot about their cheese history. It was a great time and a beautiful part of the country. I will definitely visit again next time I am in the UK.

Yelp
Cheese heaven. That's the only way to describe this. I'm talking mainly about the cheese room, not even about the creamery itself and the museum-y bits of it. You know how when you're from an area, you never do the touristy things? For that reason I have not in my adult life been to see the cheese being made. However I have bought cheese and this is the place to be. You can sample and buy pretty much every incarnation of Wensleydale cheese and a number of other varieties, at pretty reasonable prices. My recommendations would be the smoked, blue, and with cranberries. They also do a Bishopdale cheddar which I hear tell is not sold anywhere else. If you want something a bit different I say get the salted caramel Wensleydale. It shouldn't work, but god damn it does. There is also a café serving nice cakes, teas, soft drinks etc, and an intriguing Wensleydale cheesecake which both tempts and disgusts me. There's also a restaurant which is supposed to be very good, and a gift shop selling lovely overpriced tat.

Yelp
This is well worth a visit if you are in the area. There is a small museum which explains the history of cheese making and has an old farmhouse kitchen to look around. There is a little Wallace & Gromit themed children's area with little tables and chairs and plenty of colouring in materials to keep the little ones amused. Of course Wallace & Gromit is playing on a screen too. There is also a new visitor centre with lots of cheesy facts and some excellent interactive installations to interest the kids. This area is still under development, so in the future I expect this area will be even better with windows to view the cheese making and butter making processes. Next there is a cafe/deli and gift shop. There is a cheese shop where you can sample a huge variety of Wensleydale cheeses before you buy! The cafe is a bright open space with a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. There is a great selection of lunches and refreshments to choose from. We had the Yorkshire Wensleydale Ploughman's Deli Board which was delicious and the little ones shared some delicious soup and a Gromit Lunch Bag. This was an inexpensive place to visit with something to interest kids and adults alike.

Yelp
Unlimited free cheese samples of about 20 different cheeses! Got your attention now, don't I. The cheese samples were fab, had Wensleydale cheese with all manner of added extras...cranberry, apricot, onion and chive, strawberries, chilli. As well as normal Wensleydale in all different varieties. You can buy all different sizes of cheese which I quite liked as places like this can sometimes rip you off and make you buy massive bits. There is as wee gift shop selling lots of Yorkshire inspired merchandise and a cafe too. But the cheese is the star attraction.

Yelp
Great products and fantastic customer service here at Wensleydale. We happened upon this cheese one day while grocery shopping near our home in upstate New York. I'll admit that we initially tried it because of the picture of Wallace and Gromit on the package. How could we resist? But we came back for more because it's some damn tasty cheese. We like to eat it with slices of green apple - yum! But sadly, our local grocer stopped carrying it, so we searched high and low for another merchant who offered this delicious cheese. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found. So, as a gift I ordered the Husband a bunch of his favorite Wensleydale direct from the source via their website. It took nearly three weeks to arrive, but it was worth every penny. After 10 days passed (their estimated delivery time to the US) I contacted Wensleydale because the cheese hadn't arrived yet, and they offered to send the order again. I told them to hold off, hoping the first shipment was just a little delayed. It arrived about a week later, and we've been in cheesy heaven ever since!

Yelp
Awesome selection of cheese. I am not very knowledgeable about cheese but I am sure they definitely have one that suit your taste. You can buy the whole roll of cheese or in wedges wrapped up nicely. I bought the red onion infused cheese and it was so flavourful. In hindsight, I should have bought the smoked cheddar as well. I arrived on a gloomy day after failing to hike to nearby waterfall because it started hailing like mad while I was halfway across a field. Thankfully this creamery was nearby or else I would have gotten hypothermia. Unfortunately, I arrived too late to join in the tour so I still have no idea how cheese is made. Nonetheless, the wide selection of cheese and the coffee in the restaurant cheered me up greatly.

Yelp
Unfortunately we had only time to take a short look at the shop. It contains a usual tourist presents: sheepish sourvenirs, shortbread, tea etc. But the real thing is in the little cold room on the left side. There they present their cheese variations. Little pieces to try and forget every praise of french cheese! Marvelous, fruity sorts and very tasty. Sadly very few opportuneties to get this cheese here on the continent.

Yelp
While on a road trip, we randomly decided to stop in Hawes for the night and were surprised to see the great number of adverts featuring Wallace and Gromit. The next morning at breakfast, our host informed us of the Wensleydale Cheese place just up the road. Well, we had to try that! And what great fun! The best part of the tour is the sample room. The smoked Cheddar was out of this world amazing. And what a beautiful setting, too, right in the Dales. Great stop on our road trip!

Yelp
Free wi-fi and ample tastes of their cheeses! Touristy with busses but worth the stop in.
