On the Grid : Wentworth Park – Greyhound Racing

"The infamous Greyhound’s is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but this local institution is a great place to people watch and take photos. Expect shouting, trackies, the smell of fried foods coupled with fluros, all adding to the seediness of the whole affair. This is not your typical ‘day at the races’ and people who love animals should definitely steer clear." - Thinkbone

The venue itself is huge, but honestly, greyhound racing feels very outdated and out of place in the heart of Sydney in 2025. The sport is long past its time, and the space could definitely be transformed into something more meaningful—whether that’s a modern community hub, an educational or cultural facility, or even something fun and innovative that better reflects today’s city vibe. The location is prime, but the concept is tired. This is a site with so much potential—it deserves to be reimagined into something that people can truly enjoy and benefit from.

Took my nephew, who is autistic and absolutely loves the greyhounds. Arriving, we were met with a barrage of abuse from protesters screaming as we walked past. Had pre-purchased tickets, but upon scanning, only one was verified; the others came up as already being used. It was mortifying to say the least. The woman who scanned them looked at us accusingly as if it was our fault. We were put aside while she spoke with someone. She then came back and reluctantly let us through. Would I attend again? No. It was a giant booze fest, alcohol coming in first after the races. Overpriced food, with no taste, and a waste of time. The only positive was the greyhound adoption tent. Lovely group of people promoting the adoption of greyhounds.

Once again GRNSW have put on a great night for their show piece, the Million Dollar Chase. Wenty was in pristine condition, and despite the weather, there was a large crowd track side to enjoy the great racing and soak up the multitude of entertainment. It was thrilling to witness Power and Glory claim the ultimate prize and become the latest million dollar graduate. The VIP party was a blast. Staff were very attentive and the culinary offerings were top notch. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for hosting Aussies ultimate Greyhound race.

Super convenient location in city, near to universities Uni of Sydney & UTS, and also TAFE college. Minutes walking from Broadway Shopping Center & Sydney Fish Market. Hot food & ice cream van available inside racetrack. Very secure with policemen stationed inside. Relaxing place: Not noisy & not crowded.

Let’s stand together against cruel practices like greyhound racing! True civilisation is measured by how we treat the most vulnerable, and we cannot call ourselves humane unless we act with compassion. Join us on 17 October 2025 to raise our voices, promote kindness, and show that a civilised society protects, not exploits. Together, we can make change.

What a great night out. Not crowded, plenty of room for kids to muck around. IMO the best chicken parm in Sydney is had at the bistro here. Staff are friendly and drinks are genuine 1990s prices. If you cant have fun here, you don't have a pulse.

Great facility, close to the light rail. The whole precinct worthy of government investment over redevelopment.
