On the Grid : Wertheimpark

"A lovely small park near the water, where you can relax and check out all the boats -from small rubber boats to big industrial boats- that cross in the canal right in front of you. When strolling through you'll pass the Amsterdam’s Auschwitz Memorial, which is worth taking the time to see. If you can't get enough of the nature around you, visit the botanic gardens located next to the park." - Resoluut

Small and neighborhood park. Also, dogs entertainment area.

Nice park. Unfortunately, there are many ground spots in the grass. The park has many trees, so on hot days there is enough shadow. You can also sit next to the canals.

Lovely green place to take a rest, with a lot of benches. The other side of the street is the botanical garden.

The wertheimpark is named after the Jewish philanthropist Abraham Weirtheim. It contains a foutain, a jewish WW2 memorial and 2 Sfinxes. It has some lovely winding roats with big trees that provide some excellent shade. There is also enough grassy areas along the canal to enjoy a picnic and gazing at the passing boats.

The monument is very sad 😔 people have put small stones as a sign of respect 🙏 the beautiful wingnut tree 🌳 beside it is also a very fitting monument to the grief that is remembered here 😢 💔

Small park, a relatively quiet place to sit or take your dog for a short walk.

Yelp
On our way back to our hotel after a day at Micropia, we passed through Wertheimpark, named after entrepreneur and philanthropist Abraham Carel Wertheim (1832 to 1897). It's a fairly small park, surrounded by a fence with the Nieuwe Herengracht canal on one side. In the park is a fountain, although it was dry when we were there. There is also a memorial to remember the victims of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Unfortunately I don't recall seeing the memorial, which is a shame. Overall, not a particularly interesting park. Yelp
Nice small park in the outskirts of the city center. There are a few monuments inside this park but it is more passive than a park for playing. Nice place to sit and meditate or reflect on the monuments. One is if correct a WWII monument and other is an interesting ground display of the broken glass symbolizing Auschwitz. It was quite moving especially since it was wet, gray, and cold outside on the day I visited. There is no admission charge to enter the park and you can stay as long as you with. I believe it is pet friendly as there were quite a few dogs playing with their owners.

Yelp
Decently nice park to just relax in. Could be a bit bigger, but there is Vondelpark for that.
