Easily one of the best lunch spots in the entire Milwaukee metro area. It’s one of our go-to places, and it’s been consistently excellent every time. The hardest part is deciding what to order because everything is so good! If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Deborah Miller

Google
We were visiting the area and googled the best cheese curds. Guess what they had them. So good! We had a hot dog, brat, fried cheese curds, and the best caramel macchiato cold. Only raved reviews!

Adam Schalk

Google
The food is always awesome. Homemade chips are okay but every sandwich I’ve ever had has been more than worth it. Love coming here

Jurgita Hemker

Google
This appears to be a local institution and it was hopping on a Saturday at lunch! We got the cliff sandwich and poutine and everything was amazing! Kudos to the staff for great service and an awesome sense of urgency!

Dick Satan

Google
The poutine was really good The cheese curds maintained some squeakiness. The amount of perfect gravy that’s not overly salty.

Had lunch down the street and decided to stop over at WACSS. Had heard about them, and have even feasted on some of their charcuterie boards. This is a terrific little shop if you are looking for help with finding special items for your charcuterie board. They have an extensive collection of cheeses from some of the best creameries in the state. Lots of sausages too. Need a sauce or a special wine, they also have those. And just about anything that you want that is pickled. I could go on and on about all the unique items, so you just need to make your own trip. They also have a restaurant there, but we did not dine there. I ended up getting some pickled asparagus, and a couple of cute wisconsin cheese souvenirs. Nice place!

Google
The workers here were extremely helpful and even let me sample some of the summer sausage. The summer sausage was extremely good and I ended up buying two different kinds. Great price for fresh summer sausage as well. Highly recommend stopping in and grabbing some steaks or other types of meat. The steaks that we’ve got from here previously have always been great quality.

Google
Awesome little restaurant and cheese shop, serving a decent array of Americana. Food was delicious. Huge portions! Service was great. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to wherever you're sitting. Nice little outside patio if the weather is good. Cheese shop is ok too. Nothing too exotic unfortunately, but good quality. Parking is on the street and could be sketchy if it was busy. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
The guy who helped us here was just the nicest. We were only in Wisconsin for the day and had heard we should get cheese curds. Unfortunately, we got there a little after they had closed. We didn't even realize it. We unloaded our kids and walked over, passing him watering the plants, and didn't notice they were closed until we got to the door. He had greeted us in passing and then told us they were closed when he realized where we were going. He talked with us a minute and jokingly told us he would have helped us out be couldn't cook. We told him we were trying to get cheese curds and he told us that was something easy he could help us with. The very kind man still let us buy what we had come for. He was so helpful and friendly. I just wish I had caught his name. We didn't eat at the shop because it was closed but it was cute and well maintained. We would definitely come here again.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and i was surprised at how delicious these sandwiches are! I ordered a build your own turkey, American cheese with avocado sandwich. Wow was this delicious. The turkey had a smokey flavor which i enjoyed very much. The sandwich came with their homemade house chips and they were so so delicious as well. The shop offers a store in the back and we browsed and bought some popcorn kernels which we made and were very good. Will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious! Especially the Birria Grilled Cheese! The chips are homemade and fresh.

Yelp
We had breakfast here one day on vacay because it looked like a great place to pick up all things Wisconsin. They have a nice shop connected to the cafe with all the cheese, beer, whiskey and other Wisconsin made offerings your heart could possibly desire. I tried the breakfast sandwich which ended up being far too greasy for my liking. I would absolutely order the breakfast burrito next time though because I tried a few bites of Hubby's and it was a flavor revelation!

Yelp
West Allis Cheese and Sausage is one of the best places to eat in Milwaukee for breakfast or lunch. I have eaten here a number of times and can't wait to get back to try a different dish. My first bit of advice before going is to check out the menu online as they have so many dishes on the menu that I wanted to try I needed that extra time to narrow it down as to what to order. Be prepared that you order at the counter and then find a table and they bring your order to you. I have never been here when there aren't people in line at the counter to order so by knowing what you want, you're one step ahead of feeling that pressure to pick something. I opted for a breakfast sandwich with several changes and the team members took the time and had the patience to make sure they were entering it correctly. The mimosa was well made, not short on champagne, the coffee was a unique flavor and the staff does come to the table to offer refills. The Breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cheese) which I requested on white bread which they grilled perfectly literally starts off as a yummy grilled cheese with the egg and bacon added in between the cheese. I opted to add tomato and it was a very filling and delicious sandwich. The hangover burrito which comes with 3 eggs, potatoes, salsa, cheddar, and bacon was packed full of flavor and loaded with a generous amount of bacon was also delicious. I love the potato pancakes here and I order them as a side every time I come but a quick tip is to ask for sour cream in addition to the apple sauce that they come with. They are good with the apple sauce but amazing with the sour cream. I highly recommend trying this place.

Yelp
I grew up visiting their restaurant and I was so happy to see that the quality and portion sizes were just what I remembered. The food was amazing and full of flavor! I ordered the poutine and i was a little surprised to see that the cheese curds were still squeaky!! I do recommend if you'd like to sit inside, they tend to run out of seating very quickly! The shop portion of this place has a wide variety of cheese with an entire wall dedicated to just cheese. They also have a display of different jams and sauces from local businesses! I highly recommend if you're looking for a taste of Wisconsin!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast, which was quite good. Also, bought several varieties of cheese and sausage to take home from my business trip. Great variety of all types of Wisconsin cheese and sausage. Highly recommend.

Yelp
5 stars for food! Order at the counter & find your seat. Sandwiches and entrees are EASILY shareable. We ordered cheese curds and wouldn't be surprised if it was a full pound of cheese curds. We had the Siracha sandwich YUM and the special, chicken Parmasean sandwich. Didn't order the Bloody Mary special, but dang, it looked fantastic! Interesting and well stocked cheese, hot sauces, and deli items in the store Very friendly and helpful service. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I love everything here! The friendly staff, the selection of goods. They have a little bit of everything. I especially love the little bistro. I had cheese curds they were delicate and crispy outside and melty and gooey inside-delicious. I also love the cheese soup. And, I had a peanut butter cookie sandwich called a Nutter Butter, it's dipped in chocolate/ that was amazing!! I look forward to coming back here when I'm in this area

Yelp
We live across the street and love ordering breakfast from here! The deluxe breakfast skillet is top notch. Always have different monthly specials too!

Yelp
My second visit today did not disappoint!! Staff was friendly, food came out timely and it was delicious! I had the breakfast bowl and the Bloody Mary flight. Honestly, the bowl is too much food for one person! The breakfast sandwich was also tasty. Chicken & Waffles and mimosa flight are scrumptious as well! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Been meaning to write a review for a while as I have been here many times both in west Allis and at the public market. They have the best bloodys in Milwaukee or possibly the the world. Be prepared to have a small meal attached to it (the special ones at least). And of course a beer chaser. Depending on which location you go to both are inviting. Obviously there is less space at the public market so if you don't mind other people, this is a cool spot and you can check out other places while you're at it. If you go to the west Allis location, there's a good amount of seating inside and outside but does fill up quickly. If you're on a wait, go check out Betcher meats next door. That's another review for another day. I've had the poutine, some breakfast sandwiches and the hotdog. All of them are ridiculously good. This food is rich and very filling. You're not coming here for a light meal. That being said, if you're looking for Milwaukee food. This place is a stable of what Milwaukee is all about. The drinks, the sausage, the cheese! Everyone is friendly. Willing to help and they don't waste time. Space is limited at the market but they somehow work their magic and never lose their cool! I bring out of town guest here and it's ALWAYS a highlight! Love this place, 10/10.

Yelp
Now talk about a Bloody Mary!! Checked out west allis cheese shop for the first time and I will be back!! I only got a Bloody Mary but they have great looking food as well! The Bloody Mary had all the fixings: Sausage stick, string cheese, pickle, and a mini grilled cheese. It also came with a chaser! The bloody was reasonably priced to it was ~$10. This is a order at the counter type of place so it is very casual. They give you number and it's first come first service seating. The real star was the people working. They were so friendly and even told me how I could get my hand on the sausage sticks they use in their bloody. Overall great place and I will be back!

Yelp
As a new West Allis resident, our first meal was of course West Allis Cheese shop. We ordered our sandwiches and chatted about all the fun we will have while living in this neck of the woods. Needless to say we will be coming back for many more sandwiches. Staff was friendly, establishment is well kept and the food is SO GOOD!

Yelp
Went for a weekday lunch and the place was packed. The space itself is small, but for good weather days they do have a patio. Albeit a sandwich and friends running around $17/$18 these days isn't that uncommon, I still believe it was a bit much. The food was really good and the service was great. The place itself is clean, but small. There is an adjoining room that has items for sale which is also nice. I will return to try some other sandwiches out! This owner has completely revitalized the east end of West Allis.

Yelp
I called in a carry out order for the special of the month which was the chili and cheese topped breakfast burrito so I walk in 5 minutes later and the main dining room was completely empty and I'm told a couple minutes for my order. 20 minutes later the dining room is full and everyone who came in after me are getting plates of food and I still have nothing from my 30 minute ago order WTF because the brunette with glasses who greeted me knew I called in advance asking if the special was available and recognized me previously calling when I placed my order and acknowledged me, I walk in and I'm here for the phone order. How the hell does people get table orders in 10 minutes while I'm still waiting 30 minutes for nothing. I called the manager who was completely aware of my experience from the morning and said my name when I never gave it to her so my completely walking out with no food and not paying was noticed, I'm one customer who walked away from bad customer service and I won't make or break the restaurant I expressed to the manager but I will never return because it's actually a good neighborhood restaurant and it's not my neighborhood. 2 phone calls and a physical appearance which was recognized still wasn't enough to process my order, this is a super fail that completely blows my mind. My breakfast time frame and travel with plans 5 hours later I haven't had meal yet.

Yelp
My friends...how have I lived in the Milwaukee metro for 6 years and am just now getting around to giving this place a try? I have zero clue but am so glad I finally made my way in. Was looking for a spot for lunch before heading to a cheese shop to get some cheese and meats for a Mother's Day charcuterie board. Decided to kill two birds with one stone and come here for lunch and then head to their cheese shop for some dairy goodness. The cafe is just past the cheese shop (ie: walk through the shop and you'll find the cafe). It's an order at the counter situation and they'll bring your food to your table. I decided to get their special sandwich of the month which was called the Big K. It is thinly sliced chicken, Nueske's bacon, avocado, lettuce, onions, cheddar, and mayo grilled on wheat bread. It sounds like a simple sandwich but everything about it was superb. From the beautiful nutty and flavorful bread they chose to the perfectly smoky bacon and creamy sharp cheese--every ingredient in this sandwich perfectly complemented every other ingredient. It was an absolute delight. They sandwiches come with their house made chips, I opted for the upcharge and got a side salad. The salad was big and way more robust than I was expecting! It was fresh and fabulous. After enjoying our lunch, we headed in the cheese shop. I let the person know that we were trying to put together a charcuterie board for Mother's Day and would love some suggestions. Her first suggestion was that we simply order one of their pre-made charc boards to pick up the next day (which was Mother's Day). Absolutely! For $50, the board served 8-10, was beautiful and delicious. All in all--a home run experience here. Get to it!

Yelp
Hidden Gem. Absolutely amazing, small menu, they've mastered their craft on all of their dishes. I had the chicken and waffles and their burbon butter spread was Amazing. They also have their own little store attached for buying gourmet hot sauces and meats and cheeses. Awesome place to go. Don't miss out.
google avatar

Yelp
Great assortment of specialty items nice for travelers and they even have ice blocks for your carryons! From deli items to maple syrups and beyond! Fresh and frozen items as well as an ear in area for lunches!
google avatar

Yelp
This will always be my favorite go to spot for a sandwich, hot dog, Bloody Mary, and any lunch/breakfast item to get. It's always fresh, fast, and large portions. I can't reccomend one thing, because everything I have had is always delicious. Quick service- not always super patient with answering questions or modifying and order, but they are quick. The tables are pretty close together so I try to sit outside whenever the weather is nice. A classic spot!
google avatar

Peggy J.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches. If you like Chai Tea, it was very good. Don't forget to check in on Yelp to get your free beverage. We are outside, it was comfortable. Service was fast and with a smile.
google avatar

Becky L.

Yelp
Great cheese shop and deli area! I was just there for cheese but the knowledgeable staff helped me out. I was able to find a good variety and most of it local. I also love the orphans basket for small sample sizes of other cheeses. Lots of folks loved the blue cheddar I found in there. Good selection! I checked out the menu on the deli side and really can't wait to try it out!! Will be back soon.

Linda G.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast! Grab a table, then head up to counter to order. We arrived for late breakfast and the line really picked up by 11am on Sunday.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Chicken parm sandwich was absolutely amazing! 5 stars super blown away by the flavors. Every bite was amazing! And the potato chips and pickles were on point!
google avatar

Suzette P.

Yelp
The food was great. I've only been to the location they have at the public market. But it was very Ty nice seeing this location. Yummy cheeses, bread, drinks. I gave it a 4 just because the lady that took my order wasn't the friendliest. But other than that it was great.

Chris N.

Yelp
Awesome specials and staff is outstanding. Great specialty food items and unique products

Kurt K.

Yelp
Very pleasantly surprised, wasn't sure what to expect by the name. Had an excellent sandwich and soup. It was very busy, 15 minute wait to order at the counter, but absolutely worth it.
google avatar

Larry H.

Yelp
I live close by so I've enjoyed breakfast or lunch several times. Never disappointed! Lunch is always pretty busy. Early is better. Always friendly faces. You order at the counter and the service is always good. Try their Hot Italian Beef - only on Fridays. The Cubano is excellent as well - the Thursday special.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
Food is enormous for the price. I had the Tuesday special. It was a caprese sandwich. It was a little greasy. It had a good flavor. My husband got a breakfast skillet. It was enough for two! He said it was delicious.
google avatar

Marie O.

Yelp
I've eaten at this shop twice and while I can't recall exactly what I've gotten, both myself and the person who accompanied me loved what we ordered. We also had leftovers. The service was fast and friendly. We sat outside and it was perfect. Will return again and again.
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
Hey a lifetime of memories around this place... they NEVER disappoint. Always bang on stop for your friends in Boston of LA they will thank you for the cheese!
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
Ate at the West Allis Cheese Shop for the first time and it did not disappoint! The cheese curds were great. We split the Stallis Stack it was a really good sandwich. Their were so many things one the menu that looked delicious and that I want to go back and try. Definitely worth the visit!
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
I recommend getting here early! We stopped in around 8:30 on a Saturday morning and snagged one of the last tables! My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and marked it as his top 5 breakfast burritos. I ordered the breakfast poutine. For some reason cheese curds always sound like a good idea in breakfast foods and then when I actually start eating them, it can be a lot. This is true here. I think this would be a great shareable menu item. There were so many things on the menu that sounded good, I know I will have many return trips here.

Catherine C.

Yelp
Definitely coming back! The food was delicious, the service was friendly. I love how they highlight local foods and businesses!
google avatar

Lynn G.

Yelp
Updated - tried for a second time. Got there early enough to get a table. It's a little vague on how this place works but I asked and a server kindly explained the process. 1) grab a table 2) stand in line at the counter to order (end of line towards the cheese shop) 3) they bring your order to your table. My daughter ordered the avocado toast which she liked except for the red Pepper aioli. She said it made it taste like red pepper Hollandaise. I had the breakfast poutine- it had a great flavor overall but wow! so salty I couldn't even eat half. I didn't get a pic of the avocado toast before my kid smeared it all up so you only get the poutine pics. Oh and they serve Stone Creek coffee which is yummy.
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
Every time I come home to visit my family, I ALWAYS stop here. My mom is also a regular. Great quality food for the price. They also are so friendly and helpful! They have a shop right next door that's great for all things cheese, bloody Mary's, and meats - basically the Wisco staples. Small seating area and definitely gets busy so plan ahead.
google avatar

Pam B.

Yelp
This place has the best sandwiches. My favorite is the pork belly sandwich . The people are great, go try them out.
google avatar

Bill K.

Yelp
Excellent food. Nice outdoor seating. Sandwiches are big. Easy to share. Nice location and attached to the cheese shop
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
We stopped here on a Saturday for an early lunch. We've had breakfast here but had not tried any of their sandwiches. I ordered the Stallis Stack. It was served with a pickle spear and house made chips. The chips were excellent. Crispy and not salty. The Sandwich was loaded with meat. Han, bacon, turkey, Salami, provolone, goat chèvre, lettuce, tomato and cucumber served on toasted sourdough . It was great. The Meatloaf sandwich is served with cheddar and their secret sauce on toasted white bread. It was very good. You order at the counter, and the tables are tightly packed in . They gave a nice little shop attached to the cafe. Local cheeses, local beer and a nice assortment of locally made spirits.
google avatar

Ben W.

Yelp
Ordered a customized corn beef sandwich. I mean the ingredients were good but not great. They could have put a pickle spear through the half sandwiches because the toppings were scattered all over the carton. Fried potato chips were okay. I mean expected more from a meat and cheese shop. Would go again on last time. They also have to have a spicy sauce or a pesto added to the menu.

Drew J.

Yelp
I got the chorizo burrito which was very good. My girlfriend got the Stallis stack sandwhich was also good and large. However, we also got the poutine and honestly it was so gross it ruined the meal for us. The gravy was really heavy and to be real, kinda nasty. The cheese curds were good and the fries were okay. We couldn't get it down. The food was served quickly which was nice. The overall vibes of the place were good especially the cool cheese and meat shop with lots of unique options.
google avatar

Kerrie C.

Yelp
Best omelet I've had. The sausages are delicious and I felt as though all of the food is high quality. Comfort food that warms the heart. This is our go to place and the customer service is always good. Go for sandwiches and bloody Marys :)

Paul L.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant. Visited twice in our two day trip to Milwaukee. Lunch one day and breakfast the next, can't go wrong with either! Must stop location when visiting the area.
google avatar

Jillian T.

Yelp
Food was average. Workers are very nice though! The inclusion of a store on the left side of the restaurant is smart.
google avatar

Ronald T.

Yelp
Excellent customer service and products They gave us a ice pack for the sausages we bought from them as we are travelling back to Winnipeg.

Kathie S.

Yelp
Everything in this place is excellent! The food is beyond compare! The service is always very welcoming & friendly smiles all around! It's great when you can sit somewhere outside. Wonderful neighborhood

Michelle B.

Yelp
Small restaurant with really great food. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. A lot of excellent options including for those who need gluten friendly options like I do. Worth the trip.
google avatar

Nani R.

Yelp
This is such a great local spot! They have every kind of cheese or sausage you could want here. As someone who visits West Allis a few times a year, I always make it a point to stop in and stock up on cheeses and goodies you can only find in Wisconsin. I also highly recommend stopping in for a meal as well. From breakfast to lunch they have something for everyone here, even vegetarians. And if you are a Bloody Mary fan I highly recommend you order one to accompany your meal as they come fully loaded! Thank you to the staff for being so efficient and accommodating.
