Cheap and cheerful, mostly did job for 1 night. Close by to everything and very near the seafront which is nice. Could’ve been cleaner, lots of limescale and crud in the shower and some hairs around the place but not awful. Staff were friendly and welcoming. My main issue was we had x2 drunk men knock on our door at 3am and then try to break in when their key card didn’t work (presumably thinking it was their room). When we spoke to them, they said they’d been sent here and tried to get inside again. Eventually they left but it was quite nerve wracking and could’ve been very dangerous for a solo traveller, of which there were many in this hotel. They did have a 24hr desk but we were unsure about leaving the room to go to it as we could still hear them shouting and stomping around outside our room/corridor for over an hour afterwards, so just gave up and went to sleep. When we told the desk in the morning, they were very apologetic but I can’t understand why the attendant who let them inside in such a state didn’t walk them directly to their room? Or even hear the commotion of them shouting as we were on the ground floor. Seemed a bit remiss of night staff and did mean myself and my partner didn’t feel too safe. I understand other people’s behaviour isn’t their fault but I wonder if it could’ve been prevented by the person at the desk, presumably why they have a 24hr desk.

The standout feature of this hotel is undoubtedly the price. For such a reasonable rate on a private room, you can’t expect luxury, but it delivers solid value. The room was clean and even came with a sea view I hadn’t paid extra for, which was a pleasant surprise. The shower was functional, though it took nearly ten minutes to reach the right temperature - wasting a fair bit of water - and the head kept slipping from its holder. On the plus, complimentary shampoo and conditioner were provided. I couldn’t get the heater to work, so the room was quite cold at night, and there was noticeable noise from the road even on a weekday. The staff were polite, though nothing particularly memorable. Location is great if you're looking to stay in Brighton whilst avoiding the many hills. Overall, exactly what you pay for. Probably would book again.

I wasn't sure about a shared room, but it was very comfortable and pleasant. Each bed has it's own privacy curtains. It's situated among a lot of eating establishments, right by the seafront. A friendly place I'd happily stay again.

I stayed one night in a 6-bed dormitory room and I highly recommend this hostel. The price is a little bit high for a mixed dorm, but overall the room had an en-suite, and both the room and bathroom were really clean and quiet. The bed was comfy, and the staff at reception were very polite and welcoming. I will definitely come back!

Such a great hostel for a killer price! Location right on the beach in a wonderful area with plenty food options, and short walk to the lanes. Friendly crew, both staff and visitors in the coworking space. We had a private room and it was beautifully done with all the special touches of a hotel such as kettle and tea/coffee. Appreciated the bulk shampoo and conditioner in the showers as well as hand soap, as opposed to individual travel bottles, as a more environmentally friendly option. I’m giving 4 stars because of the fire alarm test- it went off on our floor in the middle of a work call, which I had to exit to go down in a flurry and see what was wrong, to find out it was a weekly test- that would be great info to communicate to guests so they can plan accordingly and to save the stress, especially if they were less able-bodied and able to run down quickly to sort it out. Sadie’s that I loved it!

We’ve stayed here before and had a great experience, so we were happy to return. The hotel itself is lovely – the rooms are beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. This time, however, we were on the ground floor and unfortunately found it less enjoyable. The noise from outside was quite loud, to the point where it felt like we were outside ourselves, which made it difficult to sleep. The room was also extremely warm, which added to the discomfort overnight. It’s a real shame, as everything else about the hotel is excellent. I would just suggest avoiding a ground floor room if possible – or perhaps these could be priced a little differently given the noise levels. Otherwise, a really nice place to stay and we’d be happy to come back, just in a different room.

A great hotel in a fantastic location. Spacious room comfortable bed and great shower with clean towels and shampoo and conditioner provided and a hair dryer in our room 308. The breakfast was a nice variety of cereal toast crumpets muffins and tea and coffee and juice. Tea and coffee making facilities were also in our room and free to guests in the lobby area. The staff were absolutely lovely friendly helpful and polite and made our stay enjoyable Please ignore the negative reviews. No tv in room but this is stated on booking and not a issue. The price we paid was reasonable and included breakfast. This hotel is a hidden gem and we will definitely be back and highly recommend. Thanks katherine and your fantastic staff.

We had an amazing stay. The beds were VERY comfortable and the staff was so incredibly friendly and efficient. We felt it was very affordable for the area. Would stay here again and recommend for visiting Brighton.

Yelp
Its the West Beach Rock Café (that makes up the downstairs of this place) I have a problem with. I'm not one to hold grudges... But in this case I can't help it. After eyeing the drinks menu, I was disappointed to see nothing that interested me, but feeling sorry for the barmen, I decided to order half (only a half) a pint of Becks... which he then charged me £2 for after I'd been looking at a big black board saying drink prices of £3 a pint. Well, I can cope with that... But then as an evening venue it just felt rather lame... Pretty much empty, yet pumping out heavy dance tunes and with TVs flickering irritatingly in the corners of the room as they struggle to get a signal... Its probably pleasant enough here during the day, with a pool table and views of the sea.... and the adjoining hotel may be far better than the bar suggests... But I can only write about what I saw, and what I saw was disappointing...

Yelp
Situated next to Brighton's infamous Engine Room club this place must surely get affected by some degree of noise pollution. Despite that I wouldn't be too sure about this place anyway. There are better places nearby that charge half the price and, as their prices are going up soon, I can't see how you could justify staying somewhere so average for a cost that doesn't justify itself.

Yelp
Put here by work. Place is in a very sorry state. Carpets and decor sticks to your shoes as you walk on it. Rooms have been refurbished, and are at least clean and in good order, but is the only thing stopping me from giving this a one star review. They are in the middle of refurbishing the hotel apparently. There is no sound insulation from the outside noise, which is considerable and continues until at least 3am. You can hear everything going on in the room above, which doesn't help you sleep either. Would I recommend this hotel? No.

Yelp
Room 215 has a window with next to no insulation. Also not great to be woken up at 8.30am by builders drilling and banging 2 doors down the corridor. Grrr... Bed were comfy though.
