We had an amazing time at the West Cliff Inn! The hotel is lovely with a lot of character. The bed was very comfortable. Rebecca was outstanding. She was helpful, caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. The breakfasts were awesome too! Can’t wait to go back.

If you want to experience Victorian glamour, this is the place to stay. The Inn is superbly restored and very elegant. Location is ideal to go and experience the (step back in time) Santa Cruz boardwalk.

My husband and I stayed here while travelling through Santa Cruz by motorcycle. This location was charming, clean, comfortable, and had fantastic service (the staff were amazing/helpful). It's approximately one city block from the beach - ideal! The hotel provided beach towels & bicycles for us. Every day, we enjoyed a delicious and nutritious breakfast. On days when we returned to the hotel by 4 pm, there was a fantastic happy hour with snacks and beverages! Parking was never a problem; we always had a spot in the lot (we were on a motorcycle). We loved our time here and look forward to staying again!

I really enjoyed staying at this very personal 19th century mansion a little above Santa Cruz Pier. On arrival staff made me feel truly welcome; though I missed the "wine and cheese" hour, I still was offered a sip. My room was tastefully decorated in style, equipped with a hot tub. Night's rest on the firm mattress was very relaxing. Meeting car enthusiasts with their classic 1940's and 1950's "woodies" thad went on parade the following day rounded off the picture of a classy location. Homemmade breakfast was a treat not to be missed. I will definitely come back whenever I am in the area.

It was a long over due getaway for me.... The weather was so nice that day and the sunrise in the morning was spectacular... I just love the simple comforts that feel elegant and take you back to a different time... The simple beauty of the place relaxes me...

Most excellent accomadations! We have stayed at the West Cliff well over a dozen times...We could not imagine staying anywhere else in Santa Cruz. Excellent staff, service, food etc. Location and proximity to various activities is perfect!

This was my second time booking here. My car got broken into. There’s cameras around the building, yet failed to capture the incident. I told the front desk and they said they will look into it. But they didn’t call me when they saw the footage. Also they charged my card without my confirmation regarding a service fee for a room I never I agreed for. They refunded my card back and gave me $100 back for the inconvenience of the stay. There is no employee during the after hours, which was frustrating to wait until you can talk to someone regarding the stay.

As part of our California coast trip we stayed in the West Cliff Inn for one night. Nice easy parking, beautiful location facing the famous pier, building was so picturesque. Check in was fantastic with Rachel, everything explained. Room was lovely, no air con but fires and stand up fans and big windows that open to get in all the fresh air you need. Breakfast was small but enough variety to get you through. Scrambled Eggs, Cake, Granola, Cereal that sort of thing. Overall we loved our one night stay. Good luck with the BMW project Rachel!

Yelp
If u r looking for a state of the art hotel with modern comforts this ain't it. But if you like old school charms & cozy mansion with creaky floors then voila. Front lounge with the bay window was gorgeous, here guests can socialize while enjoying wine or coffee. 2F balcony is where u want to go for sunset & sunrise esp the latter, from here you have a partial view of the wharf, ocean & beach. Evening HH driniks/snacks & BF were served in a cozy dining area with fireplace. HH red wine was surprisingly good & smooth, HH snacks were prob better than BF imo. BF was avg, only hot item was scramble egg, then the usual mundane staff albeit nicely arranged. Most guest rooms are on 2F & 3F, i stayed at the solitary bungalow outside (room #10). Room was avg size & the decor was cute & charming, with mid size TV, fridge & Keurig, no AC but has heating, no chair or desk, no safety box, bed was on the softer side but comfy, giant plushed pillows, welcome cookie on the bed was delish, dock station with multip slots for USB or chargers Bathroom was lovely in a classic way, large walk in shower with okay water pressure, the temp changed on its own from luke warm to hot, weird. Shampoo & liquid soap were of good quality with exotic scents. Complimentary parking (1 car per room), outside & parking lot were well lit & felt safe. Hotel is right on West Cliff drive so there will be road noises, esp when a Hartley or large engine car sped by. Overall i quite enjoy the stay & would def return when the price is right.

Yelp
My partner and I decided on a mini trip to Santa Cruz to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We were looking for something simple but charming-- West Cliff Inn was exactly that. - Fresh cookies upon arrival and throughout our stay :) Bf took advantage of that LOL - Airy, spacious, clean room with ample amenities - Best front desk staff!! So friendly, courteous, and helpful - Various complimentary treats (wine hour, bike rental, beach gear) - Great breakfast options, open until 10:00 am! - Walking distance from some restaurants and shops; a short drive from downtown and hikes but worth the quiet + lovely view of the beach. - Though the lot is small, we never had issues finding parking coming back at the end of each day - No A/C, only heating; yet we didn't have any issues with the temperature, even when visiting during a heat wave (room stayed nice and cool) NOTES - Room gets super bright early morning; gap between blinds is wide. Recommend bringing an eye mask - Housekeeping arrives between 11 am-12 pm daily - Sound insulation leaves a bit to be desired; can hear the hallway clearly and vibrations from rooms away (someone left a phone ringing next door which we could hear buzzing intermittently through the night... Yes we're pretty sure it was a phone LOL) - Room has mini fridge but no microwave While we stayed on the third floor, I also love that they have accessibility in mind throughout the B&B (entryway, accessible room, site design). Feels very welcoming and inviting to all.

Yelp
We had an awesome stay at the West Cliff Inn in Santa Cruz!! Perfect location, walking distance to the Boardwalk and the best Bloody Mary in Santa Cruz( Ideal Bar and Grill) The breakfast was wonderful and the dining area was clean and quiet. Rebecca and Mary were wonderful hosts, tending to all of our needs. The cookies were delicious also. We enjoyed our mini-vacation at the beach and it all started at the West Cliff inn!!

Yelp
I came here after I got married and I had a wonderful stay. The jacuzzi was nice and I had no problems with it. The cookies as everyone says are absolutely wonderful. I wish I could purchase them to have at home! The staff was warm and welcoming. I have nothing bad to say. Looking forward to when I can book again!

Yelp
What can I say!! This place was probably one of my favorite hotels in a long time !! Ambience was spectacular !! Upon arrival you are greeted by two wonderful ladies ! You are offered complimentary drinks .. cookies! Checking into our room was a breeze.. we were in #1 Nice sitting room for breakfast and happy hour ! The breakfasts were really nice and homemade ( quiche and Bundt banana bread .. yogurts.. granola etc.. Happy hour first night charcuterie board and cheeses .. two wines ! You can get their complimentary bikes to ride too! Ok need to tell you that there is not any air conditioning ( which didn't matter to us because it is ocean view and you get a fan ) rooms have fireplaces for chilly nights if needed. Also this is a 3 story property so if you are not wanting to go up stairs with your luggage choose rooms 1.2,10 Bigger rooms upstairs ! I will try the other hotels in their group! Just fabulous

Yelp
This was my second time visiting West Cliff Inn, and first time experiencing the Superior King Spa reservation. Easily becoming my favorite overnight getaway-- greeted during check in by Rachel who was so sweet and didn't blink an eye that I forgot my ID and accepted my mom's (2nd guest) ID instead. Check in time was around the time they serve complimentary fruit, cracker, and cheese spread in the common room -- so delicious! Room was up two flights of stairs at the top, but very spacious and bathroom was perfectly clean! The room had fans going all evening and night because it does get warm up there (no ac). Exquisite space and accessible to all that Santa Cruz has to offer. Will be returning either for another girls night or a romantic getaway with my partner What's not to love!

Yelp
I have stayed at many different hotels, from hostel to the 5-star resort; however, this one does hit differently! That Victorian architecture gives out such a fantastic vibe. The moment we walked in for our check to check-out, it was a very smooth transaction throughout our stay. And the location is only about 5 minutes walk to the wharf. They have an impressive breakfast menu and complimentary soda that you can freely take during your stay. Overall, I highly recommend this place to experience a different kind of experience.

Andrea S.

Yelp
My first venture out to a B&B since the pandemic hit. The property is cute, and perfectly located a couple of blocks from the boardwalk. My room was so cozy, and the private outdoor space with our own jacuzzi was the best! Offerings at wine hour were cute little bags of snacks and both red or white wine. Breakfast was served in cute little picnic baskets full of assorted items. I can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Our second California Mission trip, and our second stay at a Four Sisters Inn property and we couldn't be happier... This property sits in town at the heart of the beach and near the Santa Cruz pier. Sweet porches and a manicured garden with rocking chairs. We stayed in the separate beach cottage, the only free-standing unit on the property, it's dog friendly. Most of their properties have a couple dog friendly rooms. The wine hour was always exceptional with a choice of high quality red or white wines and hors' doeuvres The morning breakfast was a substantial quiches, waffles, etc. Fresh cookies all the time. Since we were touring during the day and would often have our lunch spot pre-selected, it was nice to start our sunrise and sunset here. The cottage was small yet oh so cute. Off-street parking was a blessing as downtown Santa Cruz is challenged with spaces. Note: The O'Neill property across the street was a great place to grab craft coffee to go in the morning before heading out. One of the few properties, I would go to again and again... #SantaCruz #FourSisters #WestCliffInn #BreakfastAndWine #BeachCottage #BigPorches #DogFriendly

Yelp
Amazing stay!! We will be back. Clean, well decorated, kind staff, great location, views, overall perfect. The wine and cheese as well as the breakfast were some of my favorite parts. As was the complimentary home baked cookies. I felt very well taken care of.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the West Cliff Inn. We stayed in their beach view room and it was so beautiful. Some of the amenities we loved were the evening wine and cheese picnic and their delicious breakfast (brought to your room). The inn is a fifteen minute walk to downtown and across the street from the wharf. If you hop in the car there are also several restaurants within a 5-10 min drive. We would definitely stay again, the service and the inn itself were outstanding!

Yelp
This hotel was an absolute delight. First thing in the morning of your checkin, you receive a text asking when you think you'll arrive. This worked out great for me as I was stuck in traffic and ended up arriving later than expected, but Charlotte was there waiting for me to help me check in, and she knew I was starving, so left out the afternoon wine and cheese for me to nibble on before dinner. Location - fantastic. Right by the the Santa Cruz Wharf and Boardwalk which has tons of restaurants. Room - I was in room 7. Up a flight of stairs, but a huge room with its own balcony. The tub was so deep I had trouble crawling in and out of it. Perfect for soaking. Bed was incredibly comfortable. TV and fireplace included. A plate of warm cookies was also left for me! Breakfast - Hot and hearty in the morning. Eggs, fruit, bread, granola - a lot to choose from. Employees - Absolutely fantastic. I was fortunate to be able to chat at length with Charlotte, and I can't say enough nice things about her. She's amazing.

Yelp
Love this place. We came here on a whim for a day trip. Just wonderful overall experience

Meri M.

Yelp
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in room 3 during our wedding week! The service here was impeccable and I loved how personal it was. COVID measures were taken but we were still able to have all the amenities that would be offered during normal times, if unconventional. But the best part of this room was the view of the Boardwalk and the Wharf, which was perfect while I was getting ready for my wedding day! Rachel, the manager, made our stay so wonderful and I'm so happy that it was a big part of our special day. We will absolutely be coming back!

Matt C.

Yelp
Outstanding B &B near the Boardwalk and Wharf. Breakfast was not as good as in the past: the buffet has been replaced by a picnic basket delivered to your door. However, the room was super comfortable with a king bed and huge flat screen TV. Desk clerk service was excellent. Despite Covid, they are doing everything possible to make your stay memorable.

Gayle M.

Yelp
What a delightful place to stay! The location is perfect. Walking distance to both the wharf and boardwalk. We were in the detached bungalow, the smallest and most economical option here. Although the cottage was small, it was big enough for my husband and me for the two nights we were here. If we had stayed longer, we probably would have liked to have more closet space and more space to leave our toiletries in the bathroom. The food, especially the cookies, was very good. Even though breakfast and the afternoon cheese platter had to be served in a basket, they were well done. Service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They were willing to go the extra mile whenever asked for a special accommodation. We don't come to Santa Cruz often, but we will definitely stay here again the next time.

Jhosselyn R.

Yelp
We were looking for a getaway from San Francisco and this B&B was perfect. Their breakfast was delivered right to our door in cute picnic baskets. We were on the top floor and breakfast was delivered right on time everyday. We looked forward to their daily wine and cheese hours. Service was prompt, they went above and beyond! The on-site parking was great! Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I selected the West Cliff in because of its awesome reviews on yelp. It was my husbands 50th birthday so I surprised him with an overnight stay in room 8 on the third floor. The commutation via text was on point. Our room was ready for early check in although we weren't arriving until later. The parking was easy and complimentary which is nice. Upon arrival at 4pm which is standard check in time we had to wait for 20 min before we saw someone to check us in which was a bit weird because check in time is 4 pm so I would think that would be the worst time to take a break. Room 8 is located on the third floor. It had ample space and amazing bathroom especially the jet tub. The little window facing the ocean had a great view! We found the cookie plate on the bed which was a nice complimentary touch there are also complimentary waters and sodas in a fridge in the lobby. You cannot beat the location walking distance to everything we needed. They offer a wine and cheese hour from 4:30 to 5:30 which we were both looking forward to however when we came down at 4:40 nothing was setup yet so instead of waiting around we walked out to get snacks and drinks which was a bummer because we really wanted to checkout the spread the pics online looked awesome. The room was hot so the fans they have in the room were much appreciated and kept us cool all night. Lastly breakfast, I don't know how I missed this in my review checking but I had not realized this was more of a continental breakfast versus more of a sit down feel so we ended up going out to breakfast to get a different experience. Overall it as a great place but I am not sure I would stay again.

Yelp
Wonderful historic building. They upgraded us to the top bedroom with king bed & daybed for our son (much nicer than a roll away bed) I agree with other posts - Everything was very nicely decorated, clean, and the service was good. It was an easy walk to boardwalk and our son enjoyed their free dvd library after a long day riding the coasters. He watched a movie while we sat on the beautiful porch enjoying the view of beach. I would visit again

George S.

Yelp
This is cute B and B. Located in a prime spot close to the Boardwalk and Downtown. The room was comfy, the stairs to it steep. Big whirlpool tub was fun for turning your tired tourist muscles into jelly. The bed was comfy, the staff was too. It really felt like staying at a rich aunt's old family home. I personally kept looking for a dish of ribbon candy, found none. Instead, there were fresh cookies. Come to Santa Cruz and find yourself a spot next to the warm glow of the electric fireplace at this cozy house on the hill.

Yelp
What a wonderful and relaxing weekend in Santa Cruz! Even the gloomy weather didn't put a damper! After reading all the reviews on yelp, booking.com, hotel tonight and doing some research, I decided to book a room at the West Cliff Inn through the front desk a few days before we arrived. Luckily there was still availability and Raeme was super sweet and helpful in answering all of my questions. I ended up booking a mid-priced room because I heard the cheaper room (the bungalow) wasn't all that great. What really drew me into this property was their breakfast and their happy hour! It sounded like a really cozy place to help celebrate a special birthday! We arrived on Saturday, a little after 3pm. The front desk receptionist, Raeme, was very welcoming! She told us our room wasn't available yet so she could give us another room to rest in until it was ready or pour us some champagne! We opted for the champagne since we were in no hurry and just wanted to rest after driving in the rain for an hour from San Jose! They gave us a whole bottle of champagne! We sipped and enjoyed the lovely view of the Boardwalk! Before we knew it our room was ready! They upgraded us to Room #5, a Superior King bed with a private outdoor jacuzzi!!! Super nice of them!!! They also wrote a thoughtful card with birthday wishes and put some sweet chocolates on our bed! Very spacious room with a cute fireplace and large bathroom! We went downstairs at 5:30pm for some wine and snacks (veggies, cheese, crackers, scone)! It was a nice and relaxing time before our dinner! When we got back from dinner, the staircase had some small battery operated tea lights! Felt so romantic! And our bed was decorated with more tea lights, fake rose petals and more chocolates! Very thoughtful! The bed was so comfy and we slept so well!!! Didn't hear any outside noises at all! Just lots of wind and rain because of the storm! The next morning we made sure to wake up early (before 10am) for their delicious breakfast!! Everything is made in house and was vegetarian! There was some warm quiche, french toast, cherry tart pastry, fruits, cereal/granola, milk, coffee, juices! It was all very lovely and delicious! We were sad to checked out at 10:30am and leave so early, but grabbed a few yummy cookies for the road! :D Whether it is to celebrate a special something or just because, I highly recommend staying at West Cliff Inn (room #5)! You won't be disappointed! We'll definitely be back again soon when the weather is nicer in Santa Cruz and bike around the Boardwalk! :) PROs: - cute little b&b in santa cruz - cookie jars available 24/7 - wine & snack hour - homemade breakfast - dvds you can borrow at anytime - fridge with drinks (we didn't get a chance to look inside) - very friendly staff and super comfy rooms! CONs: - maybe the housekeeper rushed a bit to clean our room? we didn't drink coffee in the room during our stay, but all the creamer and packaging was all opened and left by the coffee maker - the room does get a bit stuffy and warm in the middle of the night even during this colder season.

Dani R.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay here. The room was very clean, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. West Cliff Inn also accommodated my special diet (gluten-free and dairy-free) for both their breakfast and afternoon cheese platter. The food was delicious. The Inn was quiet and peaceful. The location is awesome. My negative comments: 1) One of the guests wasn't wearing a mask and didn't put it on when the receptionist asked her to. 2) A different receptionist wasn't wearing her mask properly, leaving her nose sticking out. Both of these incidents left me feeling at risk for exposure to COVID.

Lupita S.

Yelp
Loved it the guy receptionist Zach was really helpful.Such a cute place to stay at for a get away.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Quaint little bed and breakfast right on the water. Short walk to the pier and boarkwalk. Room was spacious, jacuzzi on our balcony was awesome. can't say anything negative about our trip!

Becky C.

Yelp
My husband and I were in town for a friends wedding. I found this place by chance for the weekend. It is such a quaint place. The staff were friendly and kept the place immaculate. The gentlemen that checked us in gave us a glass of wine and told us all about the morning breakfast, coffee service and wine and cheese hour. There was a plate of cookies waiting for us in our room. The refrigerator had 2 reusable glass jars to refill with cold water from the lobby. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Room was very clean. We were within easy walking distance to the board walk and a walking trail. I appreciated that the simple breakfast offered vegan options that I can enjoy. They even had almond milk at the cold station.Often times when we stay at places that provide a morning meal they usually have traditional breakfast items and I'm left with black coffee, dry toast and maybe some mushy oatmeal. Overall, we will definitely return here again for a quiet getaway.

G A.

Yelp
We had a lovely time at West Cliff. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Especially Stacey, who took great care of us. The wine and cheese hour was a treat and the breakfast very ample and delicious. We stayed in the Little Beach Bungalow. Very comfy, large bathroom and good bed. If you're staying more than 1 night, though, I'd recommend another room simply because there is no seating aside from the bed. Very minor detail. I highly recommend West Cliff Inn for a wonderful treat.

Jeni V.

Yelp
My husband decided to surprise me for my 40th birthday. We stayed two nights and by the time the first night was over we immediately wished it was more. The staff welcomed us with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and showed us to our room. We went to Ideal for dinner and were pleasantly surprised to find that everything is within walking distance. We did not once have to take our car out. The bnb is small so there is just enough parking for guests only. We woke up on the morning of my birthday to a yummy breakfast in bed of quiche and potatoes and a lovely mix of fresh fruit and toast. There was a small SNAFU after we returned from lunch and we made sure to talk to the receptionist about it and thought that is where it would end. However the next morning we were treated to a complementary breakfast in bed. Man was the meal even better than the day before. We were also gifted with a bath goodies set and to top it all off, a second bottle of champagne as well as a late check out. They MORE than made up for a very small insignificant SNAFU made the day before. The staff we encountered went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We will for sure make this a yearly trip. Thank you West cliff inn. See you soon.

Mark T.

Yelp
What an excellent Bed and Breakfast on the coast. We had a great time enjoying all the amenities. From the wine and cheese to the best breakfast I have had in a long time. The staff made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. You will not go wrong if you stay here. We will be back.

Fran T.

Yelp
A lovely B&B right by the wharf and boardwalk. Very clean and our room was fabulous with tall ceiling and windows, spacious and chic bathroom. The wine and cheese snack was a very nice touch. The breakfast which is delivered to your room in a super cute picnic basket was just delicious. We will definitely come back.

Jewell J.

Yelp
Beautiful! Loved how it felt staying there-homey yet also decadent. Wonderfully appointed room, with jet spa tub, separate marble shower, fridge. The peanut butter cookies were to die for! We arrived after the scheduled wine/cheese hour but the friendly reception person informed me that they would keep it open so my husband and I could enjoy. Great location that can't be beat in Santa Cruz, directly across street from the Dream Inn and the beach. Great for couples who want to get away!

Alicia L.

Yelp
This is a MUST stay, particularly with your SO if you want a nice getaway. We arrived in the morning but were able to use the parking lot (life saving since parking by the beach can be difficult), paid and got a little tour. They have beverages, coffee, and cookies in the main areas which was a nice touch! The staff were incredibly nice and I loved the intimate feel of it since there's very few rooms. A week before my reservation I switched from the king suite (3rd floor) to the ocean view king and I could not have been happier. It is by far the best view and the room was perfect. We enjoyed the happy hour in our room looking out at the ocean, used the nice big jet spa, fireplace in the room at night, and in the morning had a lovely breakfast on the porch outlooking the water. The breakfast can't be topped-we had amazing pancakes, a breakfast flatbread, overnight oats, crumb cake, yogurt, fruit, coffee, I couldn't believe how exceptional it was. I may have paid a lot for the one night stay but I'd go back in a heartbeat. I'm not gonna lie, I was very skeptical about this place initially, as were not much of "b&b/inn" people but I'm so glad I went with all their amazing views. Thank you for the perfect stay for a Valentine's/birthday weekend getaway!

Ben w.

Yelp
We loved this place. The service is great, rooms are great, walking distance to anything you want to see in Santa Cruz. Happy hour/breakfast food/drinks are great. We had a very rough trip on the way, our car was totalled in Stockton, and as we were desperate to keep our date weekend alive (first time away since last baby), we decided to Uber from there to West Cliff Inn. The day we checked out, we asked for a place to keep all our stuff while we went to get lunch and walk the beach (since we had no car) and the staff really bent over backward to accomodate us. They let us use our room as long as we wanted, and brought us a very thoughtful note and bottle of wine after hearing our story. We will be back, highly reccomend it!!!

Bailey F.

Yelp
Had an amazing stay! You will not find a better location and I had the best possible experience. Staff was helpful and caring. The room was gorgeous and had an amazing view. The robes, wine and cheese, and view made us feel like millionaires. Highly recommend and will be likely to return!

Zoe A.

Yelp
This place is amazing ! The staff is so sweet , I really enjoyed the wine and cheese sampling that they do everyday from 5:00-6:00 PM . The inn was so close to the beach and Boardwalk. Everything was clean and a great vibe. Definitely will be back it was lovely.

Anne M.

Yelp
This is a beautiful house in a great location with comfortable luxurious rooms. The breakfast served is like a nice restaurant and everyone we talked to there was friendly, helpful and nice. We were impressed also that the jetted tub in the bathroom has non-piped jets which we read are much easier to clean, so we felt like everything was a sanitized as it could be. Very impressive renovation of a lovely house and much cheaper than one would expect for the location and quality.

Stacy L.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to this Inn. I loved it so much, I've considered to go here annually. The room we stayed in had a large jacuzzi bathtub and a beautiful view of the boardwalk and pier. This inn is also about a 10 minute walk to the pier and boardwalk so you wouldn't need to drive around too much if you were to come for a weekend stay. The customer service last year was great, but this time around was below average, to say the least. I'm not one to complain about decent service, but this experience was pretty upsetting, especially for the amount we pay for this Inn, we deserved better. Earlier that day, we checked in our luggages before check-in time so we didn't have to worry about them being in the car while we were exploring the city. When we came back, we noticed it was someone new at the desk and we mentioned we were here earlier to the front desk lady, and she responds "I know." No greeting, nothing. Just a "I know." She then told us our bags are in our room and went on with her business. Once we settled in, we walked downstairs for their complimentary happy hour and all the food was cleared out. Being second timers here, we know they refill everything until happy hour ends. I hear another customer mentioning that the wine is empty to the front desk lady and she then responds "Of course it is." What kind of response was that?? And the worst part was when we were enjoying the front porch, the front desk lady comes outside and says "I'm lazy and I don't want to work" as she takes the chair pillows inside. That really irritated me. There was absolutely no reason for you to say that to paying customers. This was not the excellent service I had last year and it makes me really question if this Inn will be an annual thing for me.

Madison W.

Yelp
Fabulous Inn in Santa Cruz. Beautifully decorated, clean and charming. There is afternoon tea and a simple breakfast served each day. The rooms/bathrooms are done very nicely. (I think some of the photos you see here on Yelp are pre-renovation, as the main sitting reason is gorgeous and not at all frumpy as the photo might suggest). Though not right on the beach, it is perched on a little hill that overlooks the beach and the Boardwalk - so that you get the beauty of the area without the noise. The walk to the beach is literally 2 minutes and there is great parking! Such a wonderful, charming place.

Yelp
This is such a gem in the middle of a busy area in Santa Cruz, right near the beach. We ended up in a room on the top floor and the little window facing the beach is a view I will never forget. The owner is very professional, friendly, and genuine in her desire to make your stay memorable. We were able to walk and bike all around the main areas, that coupled with beautiful weather made for an amazing 48 hour getaway.

Yelp
Stayed here with my husband a couple of weeks ago for our first wedding anniversary. Before I continue my review, I shall say that, we love staying and authentic bed and breakfasts! The whole homey feeling, hot gourmet breakfast, wine and cheese before dinner, home baked cookies and snacks at night... the whole sheebang about bed and breakfasts is why we don't stay in generic boring hotels. Anyway, the West Cliff inn had most of all the things I mentioned earlier. This is an old Beautiful Victorian house turned bnb. However, compared to the other bnb's we had stayed at, I couldn't help but feel like there was something missing. And i have been trying to point a finger on it, but I just could not figure it out. We stayed at the superior delux king spa room. We had a beautiful view of the pier and the sunset/sunrise from our bed. The room, is sufficient for a couple. (Although, it looked a bit tinier from the pic from the web.) the fireplace, and the jaccuzzi for two inside the room made it quite romantic. All in all, the price for what the room was, was okay. I also shall mention the cute cruisers for their guests. My husband and I got to bike around the town for a bit. That was def a big plus! (we used it to explore the pier and the restaurants.) Also, breakfast was great! They only serve vegetarian friendly meals, mind you. I guess I was expecting a bit more of a bnb because of all the other one's we had stayed at before. But West Cliff inn gets a decent 4 stars for me. Also, 5 stars for Matt ( the receptionist). He pretty much answered all my questions over the phone when I was planning this trip. He was never short, nor annoyed with my million questions.

Yelp
Superb. Everything was simply amazing! We arrived in time for wine and cheese. Check-in was simple and painless. Our room (#7) was awesome! The room has a fireplace, private balcony, the bathroom is HUGE and has jets in the tub! Complimentary bath salts were a bonus, since I forgot mine (my tired muscles thanks you, West Cliff) This room is over the kitchen, but it didnt bother us one bit. I can't wait to plan my next trip.

Yelp
We stayed the night here on 5/30/17. The place is quiet, clean and beautiful. We were in room #4 with a window view of the beach. The breakfast and wine/cheese hour were very good. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean. Everything looked and felt clean. Could not be happier.

Yelp
I surprised my BF with an overnight stay here last Saturday for his early birthday, and I have to say that this is one of my best hotel experiences ever!! I have to admit I'm pretty surprised and lucky that I found this beautiful hotel! I feel spoiled and can never look at another hotel the same way! It really pays to stay at a smaller hotel/resort or bed & breakfast. They really cater to all your needs, requests and they actually remember you. That's a first that someone actually remembered my special requests and plans. It's nice not to repeat it to multiple people and it's so easy to communicate to the staff here. Originally I booked for next weekend, but I booked another activity that wasn't available next weekend so I had to reschedule to this past weekend. I simply gave them a call to move my reservation to the weekend before, and they gladly changed it for me. I forgot her name, but she was so nice, helpful and accommodating to everything that I wanted. I originally booked the cheapest room (The Little Beach Bungalow), but that was booked so she upgraded me to the Deluxe King (ADA) at no extra charge. I can't complain to that! It was Room #2, which was conveniently located near the front entrance door on the first floor next to the stairs. We had a little view of the beach from our windows, it was perfect! Prior to coming, I requested if they can do something special for my BF's birthday and they didn't hesitate to do it! Everything went so smoothly and as planned that my BF was pretty surprised! And so was I! I was a little scared that they might forget, but I was scared for nothing! Silly me. Not even a single thing went wrong. There's so much great things I can say about this place, but I'll end it here cuz I don't want to spoil it for everyone :). I HIGHLY recommend West Cliff Inn for a romantic weekend getaway!! Plus how can you complain about a 5 min walk to the boardwalk and not have to worry about driving and finding parking!?

Yelp
Ive been to many hotels/resorts and vacationed all over the world and this little B&B In Santa Cruz has exceeded all expectations of service. The staff helped me with all my requests from before checking in till check out. They added in many extras and included breakfast in bed with our stay, the outdoor private deck and spa in room 5 just added to the list. I could write the many reasons why they deserve 5 stars but check it out for yourself! I'd say Its best for a romantic getaway, stayed here for my one year Anniversary with my GF and she loved everything about it. There's a lot of local shops right across the street and you can see the beach. Won't be staying anywhere else anytime I'm in the area

Yelp
Great BnB with absolutely no parking and no free parking on the street or anyplace close by. Deal breaker for us. My wife wishes we could leave and get our second night refunded

Yelp
Stayed over the past weekend in room 4 at the inn on the second floor. The entry was a little rough, but everything worked out relatively well I guess. In fact, lots of little things are rough around the edges here so the main issue is the price. For all the little inconveniences you have to deal with I'd imagine the price would be a tad lower. Before the nitpicking, I'd just like to say that the staff were the nicest, most accommodating people I've met in a long time. They were as helpful as they could be and did manage to smooth out some of the problems. So that went a long way to making this a three-star review and not a two or one, I almost feel bad about the forthcoming criticisms because they were so nice, but the room was really expensive so you kind of expect a polished experience. Also, the breakfast was surprisingly good, despite what other reviewers have said. We were always there right when breakfast started, so everything was fresh and hot. From Benedict eggs over roasted potatoes to a delicious vegetable quiche, everything was ridiculously tasty. So the expense spared on paying for breakfast also helped offset the high cost of the stay somewhat. The building and decor was beautiful, the room itself was extremely small and cramped though. That's not always a bad thing if everything works smoothly, but that wasn't the case here. Now the sad. We were in Santa Cruz for our anniversary and had researched for a hotel specifically with a DVD player (I can't stand cable TV so we brought a stack of DVDs to enjoy at night) and the website assured us that all the King suites had one. In fact they had removed them all in the recent past and never updated the website, so that was the first thing we missed. They were replaced with a complicated screen casting system that didn't work. Also, the fireplace didn't work at all, which is weird for a premium-priced inn that features them prominently on their site. Luckily it was quite warm last weekend so we just shut off the pilot light and did without it. A lock on one of the windows was broken, so we didn't feel very safe about leaving valuables in the room but the stay passed without incident. The fan in the bathroom also made a really loud screaming noise, which I'm pretty sure woke up the vacationers in the adjoining rooms more than once. Fortunately there was still one DVD player kept in the upstairs storage closet, so that was the one thing they were able to remedy. The fireplace, window lock and fan will require maintenance to fix, so we just had to deal with those problems. All-in-all we were able to eventually overlook most of the problems and get on with our vacation, but when I'm paying in excess of $300/night for a room I really expect everything to be a little more polished and working. Next time I will probably try the Dream Inn across the street, even though it looks to be a larger "hall-of-doors" type hotel.

Yelp
Really charming bed-and-breakfast, but neither of us slept well -- its close proximity to the boardwalk means it's on a fairly busy street/location. Our room (#9) was stiflingly warm, even in March; we couldn't sleep with the window open due to street noise, nor could we sleep with the A/C on since it was extremely noisy. Even with the windows shut we woke at 6 am to the prolonged sounds of either street cleaning cars or the garbage truck. That being said, if you have the chance to go during colder winter months, and don't mind an early start to the day, I would highly recommend it!

Yelp
Stayed here two days. Can't beat the location. Perfect for walking to beach, Boardwalk, old town and the beautiful 5 mile trail along the ocean/houses. Cons: We were on first floor and got to listen to the guests above us getting jiggy with it... every time..... First morning breakfast was not even mediocre. Did not finish what we took and walked to old town for breakfast. Second morning went straight to old town so unknown if there was any improvement. Would have been hard not to improve. If we ever stay in Santa Cruz again would need a deal to get us back here.
