West Highland Hotel

Walking uphill after the train got in at 11:39 almost killed me BUT worth it. Second visit 2024 & 2025 September & October. ||These beds are super super comfortable- i slept super well. Very professional and nice staff. Bar great. Restaurant great and a very very comfortable lounge to hang out in. Weather meant I had to stay an extra night as ferries weren’t running. Stayed in lodge (cheapest & twin) and a double. Reccomending highly!! It’s not easy to find accommodation here- book in advance.Location is perfect. Enjoy!!😊

What a wonderful hotel near the train and ferry stations. The hotel was comfortable and clean with a spacious bedroom and balcony. If the weather had been better we could have enjoyed it. Dining at the hotel was a great experience at dinner. The mussels were the best I’ve had in Scotland all summer!! Breakfast was in a lovely dining room and what we did have was good. We did not understand how important early dining was so when we arrived 45 min before breakfast service was over, they had run out of many dishes. However, their kindness and service were the stars here. Highly recommend staying and dining here if you are traveling through.

I have mixed reviews for this hotel. Upon check in, we were told we would be staying in the lodge around back. Hmmm...I would call it a trailer. Obviously, we got what we paid for. So fair warning to pay a little more. However, after reading the other reviews about the water, our water was great, both temperature and pressure. I chalked up this night's stay to at least I had a good bed, which it was. We woke up freezing in the morning because I didn't want to run the heater all night. But I was warm and cozy while in bed. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was good. Nothing to rave about, but it was good.

NOTE: If you’re coming from Isle of Skye, make sure the ferry is running before you try to cross the water! (Google maps doesn’t account for ferry times.) Otherwise, you’ll have to drive 3 hours around the long way like we did. 😬 But overall, it’s a good place for a quick stay. Cool atmosphere in the lobby.

A nice hotel near the port. The check in was speedy The room was adequate size with a comfortable bed with good quality bedding. Had tv wifi and tea and coffee making facilities although only two tea bags and two very small biscuits. The storage was adequate for a short stay. The bathroom was good size with a bath and shower. Poor bathroom cosmetics, only a small bar of soap and a small bottle of shower gel. The breakfast was buffet style and quite good for an extra charge. The evening meal was cooked well and presented nicely. Friendly staff .

Staff was super friendly ! Jana, Loren, chef and her 2 assistants amazing. Cheri, Annabelle the best ! |The food was Michelin rated at every meal but the best at dinner! Atmosphere was great, ( bar next to check-in) service was better than home! Prices were great Alcohol really low! |Do not visit so it can stay our secret!

King Suite furnishings very nice. Firm bed. Bathroom lighting very bad for makeup (dim mirror side lights, one overhead behind). THE SHOWER HAS NO DOOR. The latest trend, but really? Water splashes out, nice draft to keep you cold. 🤨 Sunday buffet was mediocre. Plates are not warmed, so most food is cold by the time you reach the table. Drip coffee was awful. Absolutely no other places in town were open Sunday morning (Jac-o-Bites Cafe was listed as open, but was actually closed). Staff were friendly and competent. When asked about espresso drinks, Front Desk clerk went to bar area and provide a nice Macchiato. Otherwise, everything is clean and tidy. Would recommend for mid-level travellers.

Stayed here for an overnight with a group of friends. Staff welcoming. Decor typical Scottish. Room was clean and a good enough size for 2 people. We had a decent view of the harbour area. Hotel is dog friendly and there was a good few very well behaved dogs. (No barking). Location is a 5 min walk from train station.

Very good value, wonderful view, many vegetarian choices, outstanding whisky selection!
