I love everything about this Gallery! The space is an impeccable, historic restoration of a beautiful old building in quaint, downtown Columbia. It’s gorgeous lighting really adds to the experience by showcasing the architecture of the times as well as the mesmerizing photographs that cover the walls. The shop owners are friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of the old photos and their enthusiasm for sharing the rich past of Maury County is infectious. It is an added bonus that the photos are for sale and not just on display. The pricing is very fair...especially for framed and beautiful art. This gallery is a must see and just another great reason to visit downtown Columbia!

I visited West Seventh Company for the first time today and was delighted to find such an artistic treasure of a business right off the courthouse square in Columbia, TN. The company is located in one of the beautiful historical buildings in downtown Columbia that adds a supportive charm to the unique nature of this photographic art gallery. The images that are exhibited here represent a long and intimate connection to the people and places of the Middle Tennessee region. The newly printed, vintage, photographs are derived from original negatives that were produced in modern times, going all the way back, to the early days of photographic technology. The gallery was started just a couple of years ago with the acquisition of literally millions of negatives that were taken in the course of over 100 years by a multi- generational, family owned photo studio. While the chronological period is impressive, the sheer volume and variety of images is astounding. There are countless works in many categories of portraiture, historical, and political significance. The black and white photographs are beautifully reproduced on archival paper for lasting preservation. And let me emphasize the fact that the owners and staff are only "scratching the surface" of sorting and cataloguing the images. While there are many beautiful photographs to view and/or purchase; there are not millions of pictures on the walls and it will take years to discover what lies hidden away in boxes. This company is truly a gallery wrapped in a historical preservation project. As a former photojournalist, I was thrilled to see this type of business being started right here in Columbia, TN. After seeing the current exhibit, I can say that these images would be an elegant display in one's home or even in an office. I would highly recommend a leisurely visit to the gallery.

A new gallery has opened in Columbia, TN. Its initial offerings are fine photo prints made from large format negatives from the first half of the 20th Century in Columbia. The mules! The crowds! A lively farm-centric town then. This gallery is the public face of an unusually resourceful media and marketing company that boosts Columbia’s best impulses. Delicate artist-made jewelry is also on offer.

The history of Columbia, TN told In old (beautiful) black and white photographs. The owner is very friendly and can answer any questions you may have. They have the very old camera that took the pictures. It's so interesting.
