West Shine Family Restaurant

Cozy family diner. Fast friendly service. Large, customizable portions. Everything had flavor and tasted just like home cooking. I'm a bit of a French toast snob, so their cinnamon dusted texas French toast was a touch under whelming. Wish it was a bit more moist and fluffy. But my breakfast sandwich and the wifes huge biscuits and gravy meal was great. Will be back to try the Cinnabon on a Sunday. On Sundays they only serve the breakfast menu. Seating is limited but they turn over the tables pretty quick. Full house and we only waited about 6-7 minutes.

My advice is try that fried chicken. O MY GOODNESS. Best fried chicken ever, seriously wow. Great portion size. Amazing service. We had Emily for our server and they were the best. Will definitely come again.

Food and Service was fantastic. The Uncle Benny plate (with goetta) was delicious. I was worried the breakfast potatoes wouldn't be good, but they where perfect.

Great little restaurant! Nothing fancy about the venue but food and service are amazing! Chicken Bacon Biscuit- great for a non breakfast eater. Freshly breaded chicken, thick, smoky bacon( the kind that comes from a butcher shoppe of old). Every dish I saw pass was remarkable looking. Love that found this spot. Yum!

I have always driven past this restaurant and always said that I would stop in but never got the opportunity to well today. My coworkers and I will try to think of a new place to get breakfast from so I suggested the West shine family restaurant and I am so happy I did. I got the chicken fried chicken, fried eggs and the breakfast potatoes are to die for the country gravy is very flavorful. This was an overall win!!!

A smaller family owned place and absolutely amazing 🤩 Had the aunt Patti melt and everything was delicious 😋 I am a "we have food at home" person normally but I will be back to West Shine 😁

Best place to get breakfast they give a large amount of food for a great price it is delicious. I highly recommend getting the cinnamon roll as well

1. Owners Jamie and Angie are wonderful, kind, caring people.They always make us and our granddaughter with mild autism feel completely welcome. 2. All the food is homemade from excellent ingredients. 3. Quality of the food is very consistent from visit to visit. 4. Owners' two children are sweet 5. Our granddaughter could eat their homemade Mac 'n' cheese every day. It's the best I've ever eaten next to my Mom's. 6. Bathrooms are always clean and well-stocked. It would be nice to have a step stool available so the littles could reach the sink/water to wash their hands.

Walked in and we're greeted and told to sit anywhere we'd like. I ordered the Mama's Country Breakfast and my husband ordered the Eggs in a Hole. Mama's breakfast was delicious- eggs cooked perfectly over easy, goetta was slightly crisp on outside and soft in the middle, potatoes fried crisp - it was really yummy. I was so full I wasn't able to finish my biscuit and gravy. My husband liked his breakfast but was a little disappointed the eggs were fully cooked medium and not runny in the middle of the toast.

Once again another great breakfast from West Shine. From the super friendly staff, the wonderful ambiance to the over the top food, there is no better place to go. Breakfast to brunch everything is superb.

Delicious cold brew coffee to start. Had chicken fried chicken that was hand battered. Served with biscuits and gravy. Thought they'd put gravy on the chicken...Glad they didn't. The chicken was delicious.. Gravy was delicious and biscuits were fresh and flakey.

We went here for Father's Day today, as we love breakfast and a "mom 'n pop diner" seems like just the ticket. It's a bustling place that serves pretty good food. I can't fault them on the culinary service at all. But, even with ample time, we missed our following engagement. This place isn't slow; it is nigh imperceptible to the human eye. You'd have to use a National Geographic time-lapse to capture the food delivery. Don't go to this place if you have literally anything else you need to do in the day. My family is resentful toward me, which has largely bullied this day that would otherwise be one of my favorites.

Food is still good here, but by god the food service is sloooow. Plan on two hours for lunch/brunch. Waited a half hour for a drink refill. If they could expedite just a bit then West Shine would really shine.

Well we made it back for breakfast. We are house sitting and decided to come back here for breakfast. It was crowded but we know the kitchen staff was doing their best to get orders out. After our drinks was brought out to us, it might have been 15 minutes before our food came. I was able to order 2 pancakes and 3 eggs over easy from the ala carte menu. Not bad for $8 . My wife decided on the French toast and bacon. Potatoes cooked crispy came with her order. She also ordered the big cinnamon bun. The owners are very friendly and the wait staff is attentive to your needs. When we are in the area, we will try to patronize this establishment. We need to sample their lunch menu. Restaurant seems to be very clean. Prices are reasonable

We love diners so when we found this one, we had to come. I had lunch and my hubby had breakfast. Food was great and servings were huge. Come hungry! Friendly place where lots of folks come. I don't think service is slow at all as someone below implied. Father's Day will be slow regardless of where you go. Definitely recommend it.

I can't say enough good things about West Shine Family Restaurant. We stopped in this morning. The place was not packed, but business was steady. The restaurant was clean and super cute. It was decorated for Christmas with great Christmas music in the background. I didn't ask, but it seemed clear to me the folks running the restaurant were the owners. What's cool about this is their attitude towards customers reflects directly on them and their business. Our server, again pretty sure she's one of the owners, was super kind and attentive. We both ordered Mama'c Country Breakfast. Only difference, I ordered goetta and Mark got sausage patties. SO much food for $12. Two eggs, breakfast potatoes, a biscuit (or toast), homemade sausage gravy and homemade strawberry preserves... plus our meat. Coffee was served in large mugs and was very good right from the first sip. The eggs were done to order. The goetta was huge and perfectly cooked. I'm reasonably certain it was not Glier's. There's nothing wrong with Glier's, but I really appreciate goetta that has a different flavor. It was great. The breakfast potatoes looked like short fries, which was a little odd, but they were also well cooked with a nice crisp. They were delicious. The sausage gravy was peppery and the perfect consistency. They were not stingy with the sausage in the gravy. The biscuit was cut in half, which was perfect. One was a vessel for the gravy, the other half served as a good vehicle for the strawberry preserves. It's a bit of a conundrum, though. The biscuit is perfect for the gravy, but was a little thick for the preserves. I would have enjoyed the preserves better on toast. I am already looking forward to our next breakfast at West Shine Family Restaurant.

Took my dad for lunch before work a couple weeks ago, with all intentions of getting the gripp'n chicken sandwich, a fried chicken sandwich coated in Cincinnati's own grippo's bbq chips, but when the server brought out a couple fish sandwiches to the table across from us, I decided I had to try it. The filet was enormous and the homemade tartar was excellent. My dad ordered a breakfast coney, made with a breakfast sausage link, sausage gravy and shredded cheese. And yes, that was as amazing as it sounds. Check them out, hidden gem on the the west side and one of the best lunches in town. * side note- Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the Gripp'n chicken sandwich, because I had that the first time I came. But I can say it was absolutely as delicious as you think. My coworker loves the salads as well, and they always look very fresh.*

After reading some reviews we decided to give it a try. Apparently the cook can only deliver at one speed -very slow. I was prepared for sloow , but this was still surprisingly slow. It looked like everyone was having the same experience Ordered cheese steaks. Cheese was greasy cheese whiz type stuff. Not at all healthy. Service was good, atmosphere pleasant But 50 minute wait not good. Probably should have stuck with breakfast

Went back for lunch and I tried the meatloaf. You can tell that it's homemade. I had the brown gravy put on it as well as the mashed potatoes. It was very good and I would get it again. It had a very good flavor. I also had the green beans which were country beans that had ham pieces. My wife had the fried chicken salad. They don't have reduced fat honey mustard which was a negative for her The salad was good but the chicken was greasy. I tried the chicken and she was right. Overall service was good, price reasonable and we will be back.

Great food, great service, and nice atmosphere. They really know what thick cut bacon is. The bun bun cinnamon roll is killer. The random full size coffee cups were a bonus.

Wow; great find this morning. Amazing service from the owners. Food is excellent with large quality portions. The pancakes with maple cinnamon butter were perfect and get those potatoes. clean and comfortable environment too.

Breakfast was good with good portions. Family style diner with good options and would come back.

This restaurant had too many employees standing around talking and not cleaning tables so we waited 5 minutes for a somewhat cleaned table. I don't understand their table cleaning method which is the employee takes one plate in each hand to the counter and places dirty dishes on counter, walks back to table and repeat. The counter was stacked full of leftover food dishes and cups. Food is dumped in customer view behind a small counter. Younger employees stand around talking or looking at their phones. There is a table of children and or grandchildren of employees or owners that was filthy and full of ipads, toys and backpacks. Maybe this was take your kid to work day? The floors were disgusting and one can tell they mop around the table legs and never close to the walls. Take a look down next time you visit. Time order was placed to get to the table is way too long. I watched my biscuit and gravy sit in the window for 12 minutes so it was luke warm when delivered to me. I was asked at check out how everything was and I replied just ok. Guy was shocked and he said just ok and I said just ok again. Never asked why I rated ok or what could he do to make it better. Your food is just ok and overpriced on quite a few items. ps employee drinks and phones and other belongings should be out of customer sight and maybe change your name to West Shine Daycare and make you'll get your Food in under an hour Restaurant.

Likely the best brunch I've ever had. Emma's Biscuit N Gravy with goetta was so delicious and filling. Attention to detail is everything. The maple syrup was piping hot and the maple butter was a tasty addition to the buttermilk pancakes! Will definitely return!

Decided to swing by here for breakfast on Sunday. I was a bit worried when we pulled in as the lot looked full, but we were able to get a table pretty quickly. Service was a tad bit on the slow side (the only thing that prevented me from giving this 5 stars). However, the food more than made up for it. The breakfast stacker with country fried chicken was SPECTACULAR! The chicken was perfect, the biscuits are big and flaky, and the gravy is hearty. Lots of folks packed the place and it's not hard to understand why. We'll be back!

Many choices on the menu for breakfast and lunch. I had the mamas breakfast with country fried chicken. Everything tasted beautiful: eggs, sausage gravy, potatoes, tender chicken, biscuit, strawberry preserves. Service is prompt with a smile.

Family owned restaurant with great breakfast (lunch menu also looks great!) The cinnamon rolls are to die for! Only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 star is restaurant can be very loud if busy. So, we will try to go when not as busy.

This place is amazing! After seeing someone post about it on Facebook we wanted to give it a try. We were in on a Tuesday and got the $10 double burger and side and a Buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were amazing. I'm not a huge onion ring person but got them at the waitresses recommendation - so good! The service was great, lots of parking. Definitely has a diner feel so great for families. We will definitely be coming back!

First time at this restaurant, will not be our last. Has that family feel, with most of the customers appearing to be regulars. I tried the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans as my sides. Everything had a good taste and portions were fair for the price. Give this place a try I think you will find something you like.

We never tasted the food because it took an hour to get it and the order was wrong. The young waitress was more interested in walking around and talking than taking care of customers. And there were far more empty tables than filled.

I don't even pork. Which makes breakfast foods tricky. But the sweet potato tots were five star! And the shine sauce was delicious

Another solid place to get breakfast out in the west side. Standard fare. Service was friendly. Needs a more well defined 'wait for your table area' as it's all right in the traffic flow from the kitchen.

We waited in excess of 40 minutes after ordering breakfast. They seemed to have plenty of kitchen workers. Coffee was fair but the rest of the food was spot on. Very tasty and hot. Very friendly service, just SLOW.

Ate here for lunch today with a group of 10. I had a bowl of chili that was OK (no beans), a tossed salad and the meat loaf dinner--a healthy portion and very yummy. Wife had a burger and liked it. Didn't really have room for dessert, but they had 6 to choose from. Supposedly the best dish here is the chicken sandwich with Grippo chip coating. We don't get over here often, but if we do again, I will get that next time. Only 2 servers were evident today, but service seemed adequate.

Stopped by this place on Saturday for dinner as it's not too far from our house. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and picked a booth towards the back. I ordered a Build Your Own with chicken, bacon, Swiss, and BBQ sauce on a brioche bun alongside sweet potato tots. My husband ordered a Build Your Own with steak burger, cheese, ketchup, and mustard alongside mashed potatoes with gravy. The food was great! My favorite were the sweet potato tots as they were both sweet and savory. My husband really enjoyed his mashed potatoes. Overall, the food was something to come back for! Our server was not the quickest and we had to ask for water a couple of times. We also were disappointed that she didn't share the specials as it was our first time there and we didn't see them until our way out. Aside from that, definitely a great place near by!

I'm from the Clevelamd area and happened to find this restaurant on Yelp. Wow what a great little place and definitely a family run business. The kids are helping take care of the customers. I had their Rubie Wednesday special which I had a choice of Turkey, pastrami or ribeye. I chose the ribeye and boy it was good. I also order a side of Onion rings and they were out of this world. I haven't had onion rings this good in many years.. it's is a fun place to come to and I will return when I'm back in town...

I can't say enough great things about this place, but I'll try to keep this short and sweet. Everything on the menu is phenomenal. They do just about everything from scratch, and it shows in the quality and taste. They have the best mashed potatoes I have ever had in my life! I've tried the majority of the menu but my absolute favorite is their Grippo's chicken sandwich with fresh cut fries and a side of shine sauce. It's a huge chicken breast hand breaded with crushed bbq Grippo's chips, topped with bbq sauce and bacon. It's the best thing I've ever had in my life. The service is always top notch and the owners Jamie and Angie are both awesome and always come out and talk with the customers. Don't skip this place.

We picked a place that we have never tried. A random pick. I'm disappointed we never came here earlier. The food and service was great. And the Fried Chicken sandwich recommendation was a home run. I highly recommend you give Shine a try!

The place was very clean, the folks running the restaurant where very friendly and the food was very good. We ordered the fish dinner and it all came out hot and tasty...and they have a few beers on tap!

I'm going to give this place a solid 3. We came in on Tuesday and got the double burger special. The burger was build your way and it came with one side. We thought the burger and fries were tasty. The chicken tenders are battered in a puffy fish style batter and tasted slightly fishy. Not sure if it's the same batter and they had just dipped some fish or maybe the oil was old but the taste wasn't great. With that being said I thought it was a great portion. Onion rings were on point. Solid 5 stars on those. Overall good family run restaurant. Not sure I'd make a special trip back but if I were nearby I'd stop in and get a burger and onion rings.

This is my first time here, but I'll be back many times. First, they participate in Local Flavor, so for $10, you get $20 of food. Second, they have sweet potato tots. Be sure to order them well done, for maximum caramelization. Excellent steak burger on a very soft brioche bun, and no extra charge for grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. I recommend their shine sauce either on the burger, or on the side for dipping. They make most of their desserts, and so far I can recommend the carrot cake - dense and flavorful, with a frosting that isn't overly sweet. I'll be back.

$8 for 2 Biscuits and Gravy...no way! Bob Evans has 6 Biscuits and a huge bowl of Gravy for $11 and its far better!

Family restaurant with open room that has tables in center and booths along perimeter. It was very busy and we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Our drink order was taken quickly but it took a while for our food order. Food took about 25 minutes to be done but was very good. One piece of order was incorrect but fixed quickly. We had to flag someone down to get refill on drinks. Eggs were substituted for potatoes but we were charged extra even though both items are same price on menu. Incorrect item was removed from bill at time of checkout to avoid double charge. Plan to try for lunch during week

Family owned restaurant with good food and large portions. Servers are always very friendly and attentive. Recommend their breakfast coney and home fries. Goetta with their strawberry preserves on top is really good.

Great atmosphere. We loved the food. I had country fried chicken that was excellent. My husband had meatloaf and he said it was amazing.

First time here and i have mixed feelings. The sandwiches that we saw looked amazing. There were lots for to the $10 Tuesday special - build your own double Steakburgers! We ordered the Meatloaf dinner and it really wasn't to my liking. I felt i was eating meatloaf mixture with the dressing added. For me there was too much filler. The macaroni & cheese looked like they added cheese soup on top of cooked pasta. The cheese sauce was very soupy. The green beans were delicious! Although I wasn't impressed with the dinner i will definitely be back for a burger! The servers were very attentive & friendly. The decor was perfect for a family restaurant. The tables made it possible for big families to eat together and the booths were big enough for couples.

Haven't been there since summer because the girl who.takes phone orders cuts you off when speaking.She charges for shine sauce in place of ketchup or mayo.Last time we got the fish special and were told it was like Tuesday burger building your own.We asked for cheese and the toppings.She charged for each topping and cheese,and shine sauce. Its too bad because there are very few family owned restaurants on this side of town.The ones left are going down hill with food ,service, and pricing. This place is only reasonably priced on the daily special. It would be nice if you had online ordering and was able to pay with cash at the restaurant.
