Went on a Sunday afternoon. The chicken sandwich was great. They were out of fries but the American fries were quite tasty. The mushroom sandwich was devine. They even took the time to tell my son the seasonings for the potatoes so he could try to make them at home. Great staff!

Google
A throw back no-frills Cafe. Probably catered to working folks but now gets a lot of tourists. Simple menu with excellent prices. $7 for two eggs, toast and a plate of hash browns. $5 more your choice of meat. Lots of interesting photos as decor and a convenient and clean restroom. Great place for a quick bite but manage your expectations. It is a café, not a Michelin 5 Star Gordon Ramsey operation.

Google
No frills diner like experience just beyond all the culinary fun that is the Westside Market. Went to for breakfast/brunch before a rainy Browns game, and the atmosphere was great in that salt of the Earth way many top Cleveland places are. The food was good, I had the seasonal Benedict, the prices were fair, the service was great, and the experience overall was very enjoyable. Worth a stop if you're in the area and hungry for a bite that includes a piece of the city.

Google
The classic burger is worthy of its namesake. The bacon was crispy and abundant, the patty was tasty, and the bun was toasted on the edges and soft inside. You can't go wrong with one of these after some shopping at the market. Please note that consuming food or beverages from other vendors while you are seated is not allowed as per the waiters. So adding a Greek pastry on the side wasn't possible.

Google
Breakfast was absolutely delicious everything was fresh, flavorful, and just what we needed to start the day. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our waitress. She was full of life and had the kind of vibrant, genuine energy that’s rare to come by these days. Her warmth and enthusiasm lit up the whole place and made the morning feel extra special. The perfect combination of great food and even better service! I wasn’t able to get her name but she had red hair she served us at 8am Monday.

Google
First time visiting Cleveland. Looking for a brunch spot prior to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame visit. Wow. Just wow. This place and the market next door were amazing. Great Lakes beer, real kielbasa sausage, super fast service. Great food. Very friendly folks. We had short wait. Just allowed us to wander the market to see what was for dessert.

Google
Food: it was really good and tasty, just wish it had more to it. Service: the waitress was very cool and super sweet. Atmosphere: well, it's the west side market...it was enjoyable. Minus the fact I got there last minute so of course didn't get to enjoy the market scene. Overall it was awesome. Can't wait to go there and actually enjoy the full experience when I'm able.

Google
One of the best crispy chicken sandwiches I've ever had. However, it was a little pricey for the portion size.

Cindy J.

Yelp
Terrific meal for weekday lunch. Have seen location crowded on weekends..... Beth was terrific server, enjoyed "hot mess" breakfast with enough for another meal, and walleye sandwich. Will return on our next weekday visit.

Leo G.

Yelp
I recently tried what's supposed to be their "famous" corned beef Reuben, and honestly, it was a complete letdown. The sandwich was absolutely drenched in oil--grease leaking from every side. The bread was tiny, the portion shockingly small, and it was paired with limp, soggy fries that had no business being on a plate. It feels like diners used to take pride in the food they served, but this plate was practically crying for help. I don't know if the cook was just having an off day or what, but calling this an "insult" to any decent Reuben would be putting it mildly. The cold Thousand Island sauce on the side added nothing to the experience but disappointment. For the price they're charging, you'd think they'd put some care into it--but nope. I'm getting more frustrated the more I think about it. If you can't make a proper Reuben, take it off the menu and stick to breakfast.

Yelp
This little cafe (diner) is attached to the public market. My husband had the cornbeef hash, and I had the spinach and mushroom omelet with Feta. Both dishes had sourdough toast. I wish I had taken a picture, but by the time I realized it, the food was almost gone. From the time we entered the cafe, we were treated warmly. Pretty much looked like locals in this establishment. The staff seemed to know most folks who entered. Our server "George" was kind, sweet, and efficient. She made our visit enjoyable. The food is excellent! I loved the vibe here. My only regret was going to the market on a full belly. The whole experience was equally pleasant on the eyes and taste buds.

Yelp
Visited West Side Market Cafe this morning. My friend and I sat at the counter. Our waitress was very friendly and provided A+++ service. Coffee refills were frequent. I struggled to pick between options on the menu because everything looked good. I settled on the Eggs Benedict. The entree and accompanying potatoes were very good. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and had great seasoning. Overall this was a very pleasant experience. The cafe is worth visiting before or after a stroll through the West Side Market.

Yelp
Diner inside an open air seafood and meat market, this was a nice little gem inside an otherwise bustling and somewhat smelly fish market! It's tucked in a little corner and has a quaint homey feel inside. The staff are kind and attentive, quickly and easily accommodating our group of 7 with no advance notice. Some of us had mimosas (served in a beer glass, interesting vibe but tasty mimosa) but being that we were about to ride a bunch of roller coasters at Cedar Point after our brekkie here i didn't want to drink! I had the market breakfast with 2 eggs over easy, ham, fruit yogurt and toast with honey butter. It was so delicious. The eggs were perfectly runny and went well with the toast. The fruit yogurt was juicy and refreshing, the perfect pairing for this meal. At $12 the prices are a steal and really filled me up for a fun day of adrenaline! Thanks west side market!

Yelp
This is a bustling cafe in the West Side Market. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. It was already busy at 8 am and people were still coming in. My biscuits and gravy, with eggs, also came with fried potatoes. The gravy was ok, it could have used a little salt. My friend had the Market Breakfast with eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes. The food came out quickly, the portions were generous, and our server was prompt in refilling coffee, bringing the check, etc.

Dennis P.

Yelp
Nice bar, good friendly bar staff, nice menu, only had wings at the bar but they were very good, I'm from Buffalo, so I know.

Morgan R.

Yelp
Exactly what we were hoping for. We sat and the bar and the waitstaff were attentive and fun. Food was great and we ate entirely too much.

Andy C.

Yelp
Cute spot for a classic weekend brunch. Nothing particularly fancy but service was friendly and quick. There was a bit of a wait time but we were seated within 5-10 minutes. Food was exactly what you would expect from a local spot that has been around for years!

Lizzette R.

Yelp
Breakfast here was just as expected: quick, easy, and with friendly service. The place has the cozy feel of a small diner with plenty of seating options. I loved my basic breakfast--the potatoes and bread had such great flavor, I could have eaten them alone. It really hit the spot. Very affordable.

Yelp
After checking out the west side market had to dine in at the Cafe. The cafe seems to be opened everyday but just at different hours unlike the market which isnt opened everyday. The market isn't a place to try out different foods to eat unless you bring it somewhere and make it yourself to heat it up. So, I wanted to dine in somewhere and get what Cleveland, OH is known for such as their pierogies, kielbasas and corn beef sandwich. I also liked how the place was old school and homey feeling. The place seemed to be family owned. Food wise, we shared and got the Corned Beef Reuben which comes with 1000 island dressing on the side. Ordered from the specials menu too and got the Pieorgi and Sausage Platter along with a bed of cabbage along the side which comes with fried pieorgies, Kielbasas and German sausages with three sauces on the side - mustard, salsa, and cottage cheese. All in all, it was great!

Kat L.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! We went on a busy Sunday morning and we were seated quickly and served quickly! I wanted the mushroom melt but I wanted corned beef added to it and I was NOT disappointed!! Best sandwich ever !! Should be added to the menu! Lol. The waitress was great. Even the owner was seating guests and helping out staff. Amazing food and amazing atmosphere and you can tell the owner cares about the place AND his employees. Perfect gem before getting groceries!

Yelp
My mom, my daughter, and I visited West Side Market Cafe the morning of the eclipse, and it was hopping! You could tell there were a lot of out-of-towners by the various Eclipse 2024 t-shirts we were sporting. The space was cosy (some might even say crowded) and it boosted the eclipse-related bonhomie. Despite the chaotic rush, our party of three was seated immediately, and service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Our server was clearly an expert and she treated us with witty irreverence, which we very much enjoyed. My daughter and I both got "The Mess," which is an assembly of everything that's good about breakfast, served with a side of toast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries are slathered in sausage gravy and topped with cheese. As we found out, it is possible to customize The Mess by omitting whichever ingredient you don't like (I'm not telling which we omitted lol). The toast we both chose was rosemary, and it was absolutely delicious! Delicious like my mouth is watering as I think about it. My mom got a traditional eggs, sausage, and toast breakfast. She chose sourdough toast, which was also excellent. She especially liked the sausage, because it had fennel. Yum!

Brian E.

Yelp
Stooped here for breakfast before stocking up at the market. Really enjoyed our meal. Wife got the omelet and thought it was fantastic. I tried the churro French toast. Not what I was expecting but enjoyed every bite. I was expecting French toast with some cinnamon sugar topping. Got churro dipped in French toast batter and cooked on the grill. Very tasty

Yelp
Stopped in here on a Saturday morning around 930 and the place was starting to get packed. We were seated immediately and our orders were taken about as quickly. We had one of the winter specials, the chicken and waffles, and the kielbasa hash. All 3 of us agreed that all three meals were 10/10 good. We wouldn't have changed a thing. The waffle was like a cornbread waffle and it had great crisp and flavor. The chicken was the same way: crispy and had flavorful breading. The honey butter is a must. The hash was loaded with kielbasa and onions. The crispy potatoes/hashbrowns had an old bay-like seasoning on the outside and were also crispy. We loved it all. Theres a variety of seating and tons of old pictures hung around the walls. Definitely must have breakfast here when visiting the area.

Yelp
Kathleen behind the counter was super friendly and provided perfect service. It's a dive restaurant at the back of Cleveland's West Side Market. I ordered the Weekender Special "Farmer's Daughter" with rosemary bead topped with sausage and bacon, two over easy eggfs, hollandaise sauce and home fries. Served within seconds coming off the grill super hot! Lots of character in the place with loads of decades old pictures. (Probably all post WWII pics.) Great ambiance if you like dive places that are super clean. Highly recommend.

Yelp
So much stuff!! The ethnic foods are something you don't find often- the meats were so much cheaper than the grocery store. Desserts were crazy, then there's all the produce! Fresh pasta, pierogis I could go on and on. The cafe was amazing, they use food from the market- homemade corned beef hash was awesome! Wish we lived closer

Colin S.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast meeting place. This bustling little gem tucked into the corner of the West Side Market is a home run every time. The food is market fresh, the portions are respectable and the staff is always awesome. Real eggs cooked to your liking complimented with market fresh, potatoes as well as bacon and sausage.

John M.

Yelp
Open 7 days a week, they have a good weekend menu (like Eggs Benedict and Kielbasa Hash), along with seasonal specials like this Monte Cristo French Toast. Pricing is great, their basic Market Breakfast is $7 (two eggs, homefries and toast). I've always had great service here, even during the busy morning hours. One of my favorite places to eat breakfast in Cleveland.

Jpb T.

Yelp
This restaurant was OUTSTANDING. The pictures were taken on the balcony on the west side of the market, West 25th Street side. The West Side Market Cafe is in the south east corner of the market. Check the hours, they might still be open when the rest of the market is not. West Side Market Cafe participates in the Too Good to Go program. Generations of my family have been coming to the West Side Market for over 100 years.

Teri W.

Yelp
In town for concert and was looking for a morning after breakfast place. This place was perfect. Had a 30 minute wait on a Saturday morning around 10 AM. Not a biggie especially since we were able to walk around the market during that time! Service was fast. Coffee was great. Kielbasa was Delicious.

Joseph B.

Yelp
If you show up before the Market opens or if you are in the area the West Side Market cafe has some awesome breakfast's. I got the Greek Omelette. Spinach, feta, egg white's, with a side of potato and toast. House coffee is good and the omelette was great. The place is small and busy so pack your patience. Staff kept my coffee nice and hot. What else can you ask for. Better yet, show up before the Market open. Better not to shop on an empty stomach.

David H.

Yelp
Loved the service. The menu is too old school, unhealthy diner for me. Local vibe and proximity to the market was nice.

Katie T.

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere. Portions are good size and good tastes great. Love coming here before shopping at the west side market. This cafe is a staple for this town.

Jack W.

Yelp
A great place to shop and eat. Lots of great choices of meats, breads, produce and other things you didn't know you needed.

Gillian S.

Yelp
We stopped here for a Sunday morning breakfast before golf the other week and it was such a lovely experience!! The workers were so kind and helped us with any questions we had. Even when we left the owner asked us if we needed anything else and hoped we had a good time, which we did!! I got the huevos rancheros and it was the perfect blend of breakfast and lunch! I started eating it as soon as I got it because it looked so good (that's why we are missing a couple bites in the pic)! The shell stayed crunchy and never got soggy, and I deff recommend using the sour cream and salsa... it adds even more flavor to this wonderful dish!! My friends got the greek omelet and the breakfast wrap, both said the dishes were delicious!!! My one friend even said he found his new favorite breakfast spot in Cleveland, and I agree!!! I definitely recommended coming here for a breakfast/ brunch get together! and plus... you can always shop at the westside market after or before (: always a lovely experience there!

Leslie L.

Yelp
Inside the west side market. Our waitress was lovely. The cafe is a bit rundown but has an old school vibe. Interesting pictures on the wall. The food was simple and good.

Willainia S.

Yelp
This place gives small family owned diner vibes. It is super busy on the weekends so get there early. Drinks: Brunch is all about mimosas and they get that. They had the standard OJ but also had apple cider, pineapple, cranberry or peach. Eats: I had the special which was banana bread French toast. IT WAS AMAZING!!! Another honorable mention was the rosemary toast (provided by a local bakery). Tip: Great place you can watch a game and eat. Click the link below for the visual https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMRmvAPWg/

Yelp
West side market cafe is in the old school style grocery market in Cleveland. If you haven't been to the west side market put your phone down and go now!! The cafe is a "big city" style breakfast and lunch spot. Good good at a reasonable price. This place is a local icon. If you haven't eaten here have you really been to Cleveland? Lots of locals give this place its flair with third shift and first shift both here in the morning. Beer on tap. Staff is friendly and service is prompt.

Chris M.

Yelp
Is a classic cafe set into a historic market able to hold it's own... Absolutely! The West side market cafe actually has some history itself, and the quality of the breakfast and service show. We got there right when they opened and settled into a great cup of Joe as we checked out the menu for breakfast offerings. I instantly was drawn to the shrimp and grits as my brother went with simple eggs and toast. The gits were cooked to a perfect creamy consistency as well as the shrimp, nice and bouncy. Prices were good for what you got and the food was good. Service was friendly and very attentive too.Breakfast was as solid as the blue collar people of Cleveland and definitely a must try place, Aloha

Erik R.

Yelp
Classic greasy spoon diner. Took my toddler here for her first ever breakfast diner experience. She cleaned her plate. That's high praise from her. Service was excellent and friendly. Ambiance was classic west side Cleveland with lots of historic memorabilia adorning the walls.

Susan H.

Yelp
This is a must see if ever in Cleveland, I have 1 word to describe this place!! WOW! It has one building with just fruits and vegetables and a 2nd building with meats, cheese, breads, seafood, pastas, desserts, places to eat. We ate at the cafe located in the 2nd building, the staff was very friendly and food was amazing. We didn't drink but apparently they have the best Mimosas and Bloody Mary's, but I can't co firm this. Definitely Che k this place out and eat at the cafe. Place is busy but we only waited 15 minutes to get seated. Expect huge portions.

Natassia M.

Yelp
My absolute favorite place for breakfast/lunch! Amazing chili, amazing burger, amazing everything! They also have a great selection of beer, they make fantastic mimosas & bloody Mary's- you will not be disappointed here!

Leo F.

Yelp
Here's an honest review. Food is bad. Chicken and waffles are both DRY. Bacon was burned. I asked for another order and they fixed it quickly. Gravy and biscuit was BAD. I've had better nearly anywhere else. Egg sandwich is made with cheap Kraft cheese... it's school food quality. Sooooo much grease in general. Ranch was good! Service was spectacular. Unfortunate a really strong staff has to deal in not great food.

Shatia S.

Yelp
The service was excellent but the food was the most unflavored breakfast I've ever eaten. I'm from the city of Cleveland and it's no way this cafe represent my city. It really needs a good cleaning and revamped menu. The west side market is a staple in the city and I just think this breakfast could be absolutely better.

Antwan M.

Yelp
Good Morning Cleveland! Couldn't wait to get back to this place. Nice establishment, good wholesome people and some amazing food and treats in store! Food is always fresh and absolutely mouthwatering, as you can see from the photos. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the overall atmosphere is just home feeling. Would definitely recommend this place and always a pleasure dinning in.

Rumz C.

Yelp
Lively and inviting! We went in a group of five, at 8:30 am and we're seated right away. The servers were quick, friendly and efficient. The menu ranges from classic chicken and waffles to pierogis, keeping with the diverse theme of the market itself. I thought the prices were just a tad high, especially after seeing the prices when we went to the food stalls, but that's the only drawback.

Greg M.

Yelp
Came in during COVID for breakfast. Place was clean, sanitizer everywhere, dividers between tables and on the bar. Special was shrimp and grits. Never having it before, I decided to give it a try, and was not disappointed. First off, it was tongue burning hot, a good thing. Secondly, it was very cheesy, with chunks of bacon, scallions and plenty of shrimp. Not sure this is a breakfast dish, but it was very filling and set me up right for the day. Service was fast and friendly. You can also pay at your table by scanning a QR code on the check, a very nice feature. Would come back again in a heartbeat.

STEVE L.

Yelp
West Side Market Cafe Worst food ever! My grand-daughter's mud-pies taste better than the slop West Side Market Cafe serves. How can this be??? The cafe is surrounded by the best fresh food available anywhere! I'll tell you why ... We had lunch in the cafe on Sept 13, 2023. Their lunch menu has about 20 choices. We have been craving Pierogies and the cafe's menu has 3 different pierogi lunch choices. So, we ordered all three. Pierogies are typically sauteed lightly and served with sour-cream & onions. The cooks at West Side Market Cafe think you should deep-fry pierogies for 30-minutes! If you were to hit these pierogies with a hammer, you would have broken your hammer; they were inedible! You could have skipped them across the Cuyahoga River like a stone. It wasn't the foods' fault ... it's their cooks! Idiots! And their manager is an idiot for letting food like that leave their kitchen. I don't know why we didn't send our food back; that was dumb on our part. We took the food home and I gave it to my dog. Our dog picked the food up, took it to the back-yard, and buried it; even the dog wouldn't eat it. I have never been to prison, but I'm pretty sure this is what prison food tastes like. The market sells wonderful fresh food. I thought for sure the cafe would serve top-notch lunches; but I was wrong. Never again will we go into the West Side Market Cafe!

Jen N.

Yelp
I think the picture speaks for it. When my egg Benedict was served it was looking sad, also if your bacon does not even cover the English muffin - something wrong? YES! Flavor - it was seasoned at all! Despite the terrible food the place didn't feel cozy note comfy. SAD - TASTELESS - LOUD

Evan S.

Yelp
My wife and I were in town for a wedding, we enjoyed it so much we came back again the next day for breakfast. I had the shrimp and grits, and thr apple walnut challah French toast. Both were delicious, highly recommend if in the area.

Kelli H.

Yelp
A great diner hidden in the back of West Side Market. If you're someone who frequents the market but has never been here, you'll be surprised at how big this section of the market it since, if you're inside, you enter it through a small and unassuming set of doors. You can also enter off the street if you're on the Lorain-side of WSM. The cafe is a typical old-school diner on the inside, but the menu is slightly more modern (hello, chorizo breakfast wrap). Still, you can find some staples, which is what I went for when I came here with a colleague on a blustery Friday morning. I ordered a plate full of sides: hashbrowns O'Brien, spicy bacon (thick sliced and slathered with a spicy/sweet marinade, and a side of wheat toast. To be clear: this is diner food. But it's diner food done really well. We had no trouble getting a table, but the diner was definitely bustling. Mostly salt of the earth types are coming here to start their work day, and that is complimented by kind, friendly, and quick service. My coffee cup was kept continually hot and our waitress was witty and quick to laugh. If you're a WSM fan and haven't been in here, I'd recommend you stop by. I'll be putting West Side Market Cafe into my rotation of breakfast and brunch spots.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Definitely a must try when visiting the West Side Market. I've been here a bunch of times and never did, so glad we made the stop. It's a little old diner feel. Very good menu with lots of interesting choices! Service was great! We really enjoyed our meal and we shall be back!

Harvey H.

Yelp
Super cool little place. Sat at the bar and very good service. Had the huevos rancheros with chorizo . They were exactly what I needed. Messy, ooey, gooey and delicious! After wards go into the market. Lots of good stuff in there. If you are local or out of towner, a definite stop!

Andrew B.

Yelp
I stop in here whenever I am at the market or nearby and it never disappoints. Having tried multiple items on the menu and always wanting to come back for more, the one item that calls my name every time is the shrimp and grits. This is a large portion of creamy style grits with cheese and a ton of shrimp. The service is always great and of course you are just steps away from amazing food from all over the world to take home and cook for the family. When in Cleveland this is a must stop every time!!

Raymond S.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much, shoved in the back corner of the Western Market. The market has been there since 1912 and I will bet the cafe has too-and not redecorated. Really friendly staff, prompt service and the corned beef sandwich!!! Just awesome. Several microbrews on tap as well as Stella-served in Stella glasses which blew me away. This may be a new must stop when I'm in Cleveland.

Lizeth G.

Yelp
When your life and food are mirror images of each other, visit West Side Market Cafe and order the Hot Mess. I say this in the best way possible because this breakfast was amazing! Nestled over a bed of crispy wedge potatoes, the Hot Mess is a savory treat of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage with gravy. I ordered the rosemary toast as a side and honestly I've never felt so sophisticated eating at a diner. My fiancé ordered the huevos rancheros and while they were tasty and honestly rivaled a good Mexican restaurant, do not pass on the Hot Mess. Our server was the nicest guy with the best suggestions and super patient! If I ever visit Cleveland again I'll be hard pressed to find as good, hearty and fulfilling a breakfast!

Angie L.

Yelp
Beautiful market with fresh food. I love all the food stalls. I make it a point to stop every time I am in Cleveland.

Blake P.

Yelp
We came for brunch, it was very packed but we were seated right away. The server seemed overwhelmed and wasn't really able to keep up with the tables We waited a while for drinks, and then a while for the food, and then a while for the check. The food was okay, we ordered breakfast items [i got chicken and waffles] and it was not that good. Could be worth checking out again, maybe Saturday brunch time is just not the time to go.
