My mom, my daughter, and I visited West Side Market Cafe the morning of the eclipse, and it was hopping! You could tell there were a lot of out-of-towners by the various Eclipse 2024 t-shirts we were sporting. The space was cosy (some might even say crowded) and it boosted the eclipse-related bonhomie.
Despite the chaotic rush, our party of three was seated immediately, and service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Our server was clearly an expert and she treated us with witty irreverence, which we very much enjoyed.
My daughter and I both got "The Mess," which is an assembly of everything that's good about breakfast, served with a side of toast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries are slathered in sausage gravy and topped with cheese. As we found out, it is possible to customize The Mess by omitting whichever ingredient you don't like (I'm not telling which we omitted lol). The toast we both chose was rosemary, and it was absolutely delicious! Delicious like my mouth is watering as I think about it.
My mom got a traditional eggs, sausage, and toast breakfast. She chose sourdough toast, which was also excellent. She especially liked the sausage, because it had fennel. Yum!
