"Kielbasa! You’ll never see so much kielbasa in your life—smoked, fresh, double-smoked, Hungarian, Polish. There’s an orgy of beautiful meat at the West Side Market: One stand is called the Pork Chop Shop. There are gorgeous edibles of all kinds. The market hall is crammed end to end with 100 stalls: butchers and bakers, fishmongers and cheesemongers, spice sellers and rice sellers. Greengrocers line the arcade alongside the original building. Cleveland’s West Side Market may be North America’s finest indoor food hall, the equal or better of Philly’s Reading Terminal Market, the Lancaster Market, and Montreal’s Jean Talon. A food market has operated at (or next to) this location since 1840, but the current building—including clock tower—went up in 1912, and has been renovated and improved repeatedly ever since. Its barrel vault and vast windows give the market an airiness and spaciousness, even when it’s crammed with shoppers. The steer’s head carved into the northern pediment may be a poignant thank you to the animals that have helped stock the market and feed Cleveland for a century. Know Before You Go None of the places take card besides select ones ONLY if you get a certain amount of items, so bring lots of cash! The produce section is full of vendors trying to rip you off so they can make more money for produce that you can get fresher and some grocery store nearby, so it's not recommended to shop in that section, but the other building with all the stands with meat, fish, baked goods, ect. are safe to shop at and have amazing quality. The parking is free for the first hour, so if you're thrifty and don't have a cheaper alternative way of getting there, you might not want to take as much time as usual if you're a slow shopper. Also, if you use the parking lot, and you are able to do this, please park near the back of the lot near the beer garden, as people are always cramming in the front of the lot near the door, but even when it gets super busy, there is always at least one empty row in the back. Speaking of the door by the parking lot. This door goes to the produce section. If you want to go to the main market, you just walk down until you see a door in-between the vendor stands to your left. When you get outside, it will lead to an alley that looks like it could probably hold two cars side-by-side. Just walk down until you find an open door and then you'll make it to the main market. If you want to grab a quick bite, at that door, if you go all the way down to your left, you'll find the rest area. If you keep going straight, you'll come across a slow, little, and charming restaurant that sells hotdogs. Like the vendors, they don't take card, so don't forget your cash! After you order your food, inside there is a table you can eat at while standing, but if you want to eat there but are unable to stand a long time, they do have stools. If that's not your thing, if you go through the door the opposite side you came in and cross the street outside, you'll make it to a small park that hosts events like the Bazaar that comes around once every summer weekend. There, you can sit at a picnic table and watch the pigeons as you eat. There is also spaces for anyone using a wheelchair with single person seats in-between so you can eat alongside family and friends who aren't in a wheelchair. My favorite stand there has to be Kate's Fish, which is known for having the best fish in the Cleveland area. They have gotten into a bit of trouble after speaking up about the poor conditions at the market, so make sure you plan your trip soon so you don't miss them! If you have a dog and think they've been a good boy/girl and they don't have any health issues that keep them from enjoying this next tip, you should head over to Jim's Meats. There, they sell marrow dog bones, but they run out quickly, so I suggest going to the market in the morning. Also, while you're there, if you're a meat lover like me, you should also check out their selection of meat, and especially their burger patties." - davidplotz, aaa746542, Greg Jones, evilgreentriangle, abbymcgowan885, mate

We visited the Cleveland West Side Market on a Monday, and while many places weren’t open, it was a perfect time to explore without the crowds. It gave us a chance to really take in everything the market offers. The buckeyes from the bakery were absolutely delicious—definitely a must-try! One of the highlights was heading up to the balcony for some great photo opportunities overlooking the entire market. I can’t wait to come back during the busy season when all the shops are open and buzzing with activity. This market is a gem, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Google
Love being so close to the West Side Market. It makes shopping for local goods much easier. I was able to treat my partner for her birthday, and we did some Christmas shopping as well. Perfect for finding uncommon cheeses, meats, and prepared foods. Air quality increases with crowds, but didn't get to above 1000 till after we were there a bit on an off time, a Wednesday Afternoon. Otherwise it's usually higher.

Google
Nice and clean local market, except the Cream Puff, it was frozen at the bottom and I was really happy with that 🫤. Parking was 2.50$ for 2hrs, good price. If you want to have little experience, this place is recommended.

Google
One of the highlights of our weekend trip to Cleveland. Totally stumbled upon it looking for a brunch spot. What a lovely surprise! Fantastic meat markets. Unbelievable pastry. Bread? Oh yeah. We came home with some of each. The setting in the historical building, the wide aisles, the quantity and quality of vendors all made for a great experience. Parking was pretty easy. When we return to Cleveland, this will be a must do...with a cooler 😎

Google
This old time Market offers so much from the vendors. We brought coolers to take food back home (out of state) because we have nothing like this near us to compare to this Market which sets on the near West Side of Downtown Cleveland. This Market has fresh meat, fresh pasta, breads, a variety of sweets and more. You can even get something to eat at the Market. We have had a couple of meals since returning home with our choices. One of our choices were stuffed chicken with a ranch flavor and wrapped with bacon - Fantastic. Ribeye steaks which had been freshly cut. Very Nice. Looking forward to fresh pasta.

Google
A must see when you're in Cleveland. So many delicious things for sale and the sights and smells are amazing. I wish I could have brought so much more home, but we our fill of Pierogies, pastries, fresh bread, etc!

Google
Very strange place with strange people and shops. Lots of butchers with weird stuff, not sure how much sanitary everything is. Some things looks interesting but the vibe was just off so we didn't even try. Maybe this is only us not used to this kind of places, although we liked similar places in Boston.

Google
Discover the flavors of the community at this charming local market! The food here is exceptional, and I highly recommend trying the delicious giros - they're a must-try! The market offers a wonderful atmosphere and a great selection of local cuisine. Whether you're a foodie or just looking for a quick bite, this market is a gem worth exploring. Definitely add it to your list of places to visit!

Yelp
This place is an amazing public market. It's a great place to get groceries and also hot food to eat. There's a produce arcade that sells a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and other sundries and you can get some amazing deals. When I went, someone was selling 8 pounds of strawberries for $5. Sure, some of the stands weren't local farms, but it's a great place to shop. The interior has individual stands selling ready to eat foods like coffee, crepes, sandwiches, cakes, breads, etc, in addition to staples such as meat and dairy. There's a fun area where you can climb up to a balcony to get a bird's eye view of the market. There's also public restrooms avaliable here. Some notes: There's a parking lot near the produce arcade that is 90 min free otherwise you have to pay, as well as paid street parking. A lot of business are cash only or have a credit card minimum, so I recommend to bring cash! And don't forget to bring your appetite!

Yelp
The West Side Market at 25th and Lorain is the oldest operating indoor/outdoor market space in Cleveland. This is full of stalls featuring meats, baked goods, cheeses, candy, and other food specialty items. Make sure you eat before coming here because everything is so tempting and appealing. There is a balcony on the second floor where you can get a view of the stalls below (this building is in the National Register of Historic Places). We couldn't resist buying some donuts and a delicious raspberry coconut bar. Delicious!

Yelp
What a great find - West Side Market. While traveling a bit through the Midwest, this was a spot I had Googled and it was really the only lively place in Cleveland that I was able to find. Glad I did find it, cuz otherwise that entire stop would've been a bust. However, the sad part is, I made the mistake of coming here after lunch. We were all so stuffed, that we couldn't really eat anything, but the window-shopping and the hustle and bustle of this place made it great. It really made me think of some of the open markets I've visited in Europe. So cool. There's all sorts of bakeries, both sweet and savory. We did stop at Theresa's and had one mini-cannoli. It was decent. Nice hard shell as it was freshly filled. But yeah, so many options all around. then there were like a ton of meat shops, which was kind of blah... as a vegetarian. There were also prepared food places as well. Like, this one Mexican place, which is probably what we would've eaten had we already not just done so. There were a couple of other prepared food options, as well. The only reason I can't do 5 stars on this place is, because I didn't really try much of anything. So it was fun, but also I should've done lunch here and then I could have given some better insights. I'll just say this for an otherwise sleepy Cleveland - this is a MUST visit.

Yelp
West Side Market is located in downtown Cleveland. It is the most wonderful version of a farmers' market. Every time we visit family in Cleveland, we take a moment and stop here. If you live here and if I lived here, this would be my grocery store! They do have a parking lot, it is free for the first 90 minutes. After that you will have to pay for parking. Once you head inside, everything is covered. You start with the fresh fruit and vegetables. I have hardly ever seen such fresh- and good-looking products before. These vegetables look like they were picked fresh from the farm and brought over. The prices are very reasonable, cheaper than what we pay here in Florida. After you pass the vegetables, you can head inside where it is a giant assortment of different vendors and their stands. These are permanent stands so there might be days when they are not there. The west side market is an old railroad train station that has been converted. Make sure to look up and see the beautiful ceiling. You can walk around shopping for different items. Some of my favorite vendors are the meat sticks and jerky stand, the bread stands, the cheese stand, the dessert stands with macaroons and cannoli's and then the fresh beef/chicken. There is literally a stand for everything you need. Kolaches like your grandmother made, they have it. Having a party and need stuffed olives, they have it. They literally have your entire shopping week here in one place. There is a really great mixture of specialty items such as cheese as well as everyday items such as steaks and sausages. You can also get items to snack on as you walk through. We do not live in Cleveland, so it is difficult to fly with some of these items, but we still manage to get some snacks along the way and some items to take home. We have bought cheese, fresh pasta, breads, desserts, meat sticks and more. We have never had a bad meal! There is one other place that is a must for us, and it is the tiniest little "restaurant" in the back. She is a Ukranian lady that owns the place. They have a grill and flat top and that's it. They make burgers and hot dogs, things like that but she also makes homemade pierogies. These are the BEST I have evert had and we make a point to beeline to the pierogies. All in all, you really could spend a good amount of the day shopping and tasting and sampling and eating your way around. This is a really awesome place, I wish we had this in Orlando, I wish this market was here. But if you are visiting or live in Cleveland, please make a point to go and shop here!

Les R.

Yelp
There is so much to see here and recommend walking around every corner and looking at every vendor! I have been coming up to Cleveland for years and had no idea this was here. The West Side Market is Cleveland's oldest public market dating back to 1912. The market is home to 100 vendors with butcher meats, seafood, bakeries and desserts, all kinds of fruits & vegetables, flowers, spices and nuts. The offer all kinds of ready-to-eat food as well. Though we did not get to try the Itialian resturatnt or a hot dog we lucked into Theresa's bakery and grabbed some items to go. A lot of the fruit and veggie vendors in one of the buildings offer free samples. Being from out of town we didn't get to pick up much as it wouldn't keep during our stay but will definitely be back.

John R.

Yelp
As a tourist I think this might be a pass or at best a curiosity. Yes, there are some bites to be had and places nearby that might be useful for a visitor, but for the most part this is about eating at home. Fresh meats, fresh seafood, vegetables, baked goods, and more, they are all here on display for purchase, and it seems like the high volume keeps everything very fresh. Parking is available, but if the place is busy even that could be a problem. Otherwise, opened on November, 2 1912, making it the city's oldest, continuously operating, municipally owned market. If you have been to Pike Place Market in Seattle, this is nowhere near that kind of scale, but it certainly has some crossover feel to it.

Debra V.

Yelp
Need to get here more often to enjoy the meats, veggies, spices, breads, pastries and a lot of unusual and delicious foods. You can wander with the crowd and find the best price since there are a lot of duplicates. Go next door to see the vegetables and fruits. What a selection! Put this Old World market on your To Do list.

Scott S.

Yelp
What a great away to spend an afternoon in Cleveland. This was my inaugural visit but it sure won't be my last. This old market opened in 1912. The indoor architecture is pretty cool and the vendors are aplenty. From fresh produce, to meats, to cheeses, to breads, to pastries to..... well, you get my drift. You could go wild with making purchases here and still seem like you didn't get enough. They have a large paid parking area which is free for the first 90-minutes and then $1 afterwards. Man what a fun experience and one that I can't to have again. Go check it out when in the CLE, you won't be disappointed.

Sabina M.

Yelp
I enjoyed stopping at this city farmers market and it met the expectations I had from reviewing their website. I went on a Sunday afternoon and some of the shops were already closed but their were many still offering some of the best bites in the city. I enjoyed authentic delights and I will be back.

Carol L.

Yelp
This is a fun little market to go to. There's lots of bakeries and meat vendors. There's also a coffee shop & my favorite crêpe store. Of course they have lots of fruit and vegetable vendors. It's just a very fun event to go and explore the market. There's also local restaurants and ice cream stores within walking distance.

Trish L.

Yelp
There are tons of quality vendors within this market. You'll definitely see a few repeat items across stalls (cake pops, beef jerky, breads, etc.), but there are unique finds too. All of the prices, for the most part, are fair. I'm comparing this to Reading Terminal in Philly and I think it's definitely more reasonably priced. Every single merchant I spoke with was very friendly. The balcony that overlooks the market is definitely a cool place to take a picture. You'd be surely missing out if you didn't stop here on your trip to Cleveland.

Ingrid J.

Yelp
This public market holds a lot of history and a lot of great memories for me. The various meat, cheese, dessert, and other stands have always been excellent! This is a phenomenal Cleveland gem.

Justin C.

Yelp
This place was pretty chill. A ton of vendors, some of which are selling similar things, it can be hard to decipher who is selling the better product. I wish some more stalls had samples, and one of the stalls that was the busiest, the pastries once consumed 2 hours later, were not actually good. The perfect example of looks can be deceiving. Got a bunch of random things from about 5 different stalls, and except the cookies/pastries, everything was quite good. Next time i'm in Cleveland, will absolutely come back here.

Anton K.

Yelp
The West Side Market is Cleveland's oldest continually operating municipally owned market. It opened it's doors in 1912, The architecture has predominately been untouched reflecting the architecture of the period. The 44' vaulted ceiling is a lattice work of iron and glass. There is also a 137' clock tower. This historic Cleveland neighborhood market served the immigrant population of the early 20th century and is still frequented by locals. Originally housing 109 vendor stands selling dairy products, bread, groceries and ethnic specialty foods, today you will find vendors selling Greek, Italian, Spanish, German, Polish, French and Hungarian specialty foods at reasonable prices. Surrounding the market you will find a variety of produce vendors. West Side Market operates year round and is open Mon, Wed, Fri from 8am-5pm.. The Sat, Sun schedule runs from 10am-4pm.. The parking lot next to the market is free for the first 90 minutes.

Diane F.

Yelp
Two or three times a year, I drive through Cleveland and this is one stop I always make. I love the market - fresh produce, some of the best avocados and pomegranates I have ever bought! The Shrimp and Grits at the cafe is my favorite. Anytime I take a friend there, they are always happy with their meal at the cafe and their purchases of bread, meat and veggies!

Tonya J.

Yelp
Super cool and appeared to be a very clean market! Many options for meat, cheese, desserts and more. Fresh Fruit and Vegetables options were located next door. Aggressive sales / shop around from booth to booth before stopping at the first one you see. Samples and more samples provided.

PatrickJ T.

Yelp
What I saw of the West Side Market was nice. Unfortunately, we only had one day to visit the cousins living in Cleveland. They took us to West Side Market close to closing time. They are Cleveland's oldest public market with over 100 vendors. I look forward to returning one day. Lots of public parking. Large variety of vendors selling all kinds of products. Personally, I want to try every bakery vendor. There were a lot of them. If you are a foodie, then I think a stop at West Side Market is a "Must Visit" when you are in Cleveland.

Nancy C.

Yelp
We love going to the West Side Market every time we're in Cleveland. Problem is we never bring a cooler to bring tons of goodies home with us. They have so many great options. You don't know where to start. We always feel like a kid in a candy store. I want to sample all the meats, cheeses and desserts. We had some amazing cake pops. They were huge and delicious. We also like all the ethnic options. Wish we had something like this in Pittsburgh. We used to but they got rid of it. So sad.

Darlene B.

Yelp
This place is a must if your local, or visiting CLE , like I was and my last stop on my trip this past Saturday. The architecture on the inside of the market was exquisite for an older market, with over 100 vendors, and has been around since 1840. Their is something for everyone there, my visit was an experience, as the wind storm went through the area and knocked out the power. Fortunate for me, I didn't pay for parking, the power did go back on , and unfortunately Ohio pasta was the only purchase I was unable to make. This market is a great experience and adventure.

Rachel M.

Yelp
The West Side Market is truly a Cleveland staple! They have so many different food options from local vendors, from meats to pasta to produce to delectable baked goods. This is such a great place to go if you're looking for great groceries and want to support local businesses. There's a large parking lot across the street from the market that charges very reasonable rates! It can definitely get crowded at peak times, but still worth the visit!

Ro V.

Yelp
Unique spot to visit in Cleveland for sure! Tons of things to buy and see. The place is bit run down but that's what gives it the extra oomf! Not very many spots to eat but lots to buy for locals for sure! Free parking for the first 90 mins and lots of fresh produce. Definitely worth the visit.

D S.

Yelp
This is a classic market with fair prices and good selection. We thought there would be more hot food available but still found enough to eat. Grab a brat, walk around and take it all in before you start buying. There is plenty to see. It's not huge but the variety is great. Have cash and your credit card. It will make your life easier. Definitely would go back if I'm in the area.

Chris M.

Yelp
Who knew you could walk through history and shop for groceries at the same time... The West Side Market has been a Cleveland Institution for as long as Cleveland has been a city. There are two parts to the market the outdoor produce area and the indoor meat, cheese, bread and prepared food area. The cities freshest foods as well as some really good places to grab a bite. Sure the Rock & Roll Hall of fame is a cool destination place but don't sleep on the market and be sure to get a Gyro at Steve's before you leave, Aloha

Nikki G.

Yelp
This place has it all. But it mostly has meat. Everywhere you look there is a sausage, steak or strip of bacon, but there are also wonderful pastries and breads, nuts and cheese mixed in throughout the counters. We stopped at a couple places and bought some Buckeye Balls (chocolate and peanut butter deliciousness), macarons, and breads, including at one counter they had gluten free bread. There were also a couple places to grab some breakfast and fresh fruit and vegetable stands. The parking lot allows for your first 90 minutes to be free. We went on a Wednesday and it was honestly perfect because there weren't any crowds and we were able to browse at our leisure. There is also an overlook on one side of the building to view the market from the top and get those perfect instagram worthy pictures.

Madeline Z.

Yelp
Such a beautiful space with a great variety of vendors. Very impressed with the reasonable prices across vendors, especially for such great products. It's truly a one stop shop! Could have spent all morning here!

Abeer H.

Yelp
Fun place to visit. Especially in the summer. The produce was nice, especially the grapefruits. I bought a box. Unfortunately, not too much variety this trip. The prices were through the roof. At least double the cost of Giant Eagle or Krogers. . Will not be going back for a while.

Lorie L.

Yelp
While we didn't stay long, my family was happy that we stopped by to experience the West Side Market. A parking lot is available nearby for free/cheap parking. One section offers fruits and vegetables while the other hosts rows of meats and desserts. No doubt the regulars in Cleveland have their favorite vendors. We're from Louisville and had hoped to find more ready to eat options. (We have a small market that is a mix of food options.) However, that's not the case here, unless you came for dessert.

Jackie O.

Yelp
Crazy, crowded chaos. But, some wonderful things to explore. Next time I'd skip pushing our stroller through and go solo for a more enjoyable experience. You'll surely find some gems here, whatever your palate may be.

Deb L.

Yelp
If you are in Cleveland, the West Side Market is a great place to visit! We headed over in search of food to cook while after checking in at our AirB&B. We found so many delicious choices it was difficult to decide. We bought some fruit, veggies, shrimp, and a couple of gifts to take back home. Enjoyed our time shopping there & made some very tasty meals while visiting for the eclipse.

Arlene M.

Yelp
This is a great place to visit whether you are local or from out of town. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes in their pay parking lot. Upon arrival I noticed a lot of different things both outside and inside. Outside there was one produce vendor and various people supporting individual "causes" which I won't get into. Once inside, there is produce vendors lined up in a sort of L shaped walk. Interspursed between them you would find specially items such as honey, herbs, maple and various things. Prices seem to be on par with grocery store but the quality is so much fresher. I was amazed to see fruit that I'm not familiar with such as sour sup. Well these kinds of fruits can be pricy but hey try it once and see. As you walk along now and then you will get occasional samples to try. From there you head into another building housing the main market. About 1/4 of it is currently under construction but set up maze style you will find all different kinds of meat vendors, bakery vendors, cheese vendors, specialty items such as spices and Mexican for and prepared foods section. They even have a small restaurant here which I noticed was full of people when I looked into it. They even have in one corner a vendor selling various kinds of nuts We couldn't find a map to this place although one appears now and then on an electronic sign board. Meats, poultry, seafood etc. is very pricey however you are buying in bulk and chances are you will find a bargain if you look hard enough for it. Everything looked very fresh! Being from out of town, I knew that buying any type of meat would not hold up well on our way home without adequate refrigeration so we limited ourselves to produce, baked goods, and breads. I ended up getting a few bargains with spinach leaves, asparagus, and blueberries. Perhaps my best bargain was finding my favorite maple mustard for only $5.00 a bottle. Some of these desserts would blow you away but I was looking for buckeyes and I was surprised that only two vendors carried it. After comparison shopping I was able to get a good deal one them. Also in this market is Mediterra Bakehouse whose main location happens to be only a 10 minute drive from my home in Pittsburgh! They do sell everything here including those seasonal items such as chocolate cherry bread. This place was even giving out samples of their famous breads. Mediterra is one of my favorite bread and baked good store where I live so I'm glad to see that they found a place here. I would recommend bringing a large cooler or shopping bag since your individual purchases can really get you bogged down. I found that the time we needed to spend here was less than 90 minutes so we were able to get away with the free parking. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in downtown Cleveland. Located not far from Progressive field, you can see the famous "guardian" statues depending what road you take.

Steve M.

Yelp
Well, this place really need no introduction if you're from around here. A historical gem that is possibly the oldest public market in the nation. Come for the food and people watching! So many options for meat, poultry, fruits and produce, plus sweets, candy, and food that you can eat on the spot. I think you could probably get enough free samples from vendors to equal a meal alone (that tip is free ). Seriously, come down here and spend 3-5 hours to really get the whole experience. THE best place to take this place in is the balcony upstairs. Grab yourself a sausage sandwich and head up there for a wonderful view.

Michael T.

Yelp
There's such a great variety of meats, fruits, vegetable, and specialty foods here during the winter time. We samples dried foods, cannoli's, Irish soda, candied almonds and purchased other goods from the import store. There interior was neat as well. Curious to see what it is like in the Summer as we just happened in on our weekend getaway yesterday. If we had a place to cook the food, I wanted to get some of the pre-cooked foods like the perogies, pasties and calzones as well as scotch pies. Great selection and the vendors were enjoyable to talk to as well.

Sofya P.

Yelp
This market was an adventure of its own. We were in town visiting and wanted to try local quick foods. Someone recommended this market and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

Eli T.

Yelp
Very cool market with tons of awesome vendors, I got some Greek stuffed grape leaves from one vendor, some fresh fruit from another, and a doughnut from a third. The choices are endless and there is truly something for everyone here. If I lived near by I'd be here every week without a doubt. The butchers offered an amazing selection of fresh cuts of meat and cured meats. Fresh bread and veggies everywhere one of the best markets I've been to!

W C.

Yelp
This is an absolutely gorgeous space filled with vibrant energy and interesting vendors. We can absolutely see how locals would be able to grab quality meat, etc. and have a great experience. As tourists, however, we really struck out. It was extremely crowded, nobody was looking where they were going, and nothing was particularly toothsome. Here's our vendor list: 1) Theresa's Bakery: COLD ITEMS. What would have been an interesting pepperoni roll and feta-spinach pretzel was completely unappetizing as a straight-from-the-fridge bread item that was tough and tasteless. 3 stars. 2) Market Import Store: These folks were warm and welcoming, and we bought some Scandanavian chocolate-covered licorice there that they generously handed out a sample of. Four stars. 3) Euro Sweets: UNFRIENDLY staff. We were excited to grab some buckeyes in the Buckeye state, but the sour lady here made the whole experience unpleasant. Ironically, the chocolates were far too cloying, but peanut butter and chocolate together is never a bad idea. Two stars. 4) City Roast Coffee & Tea: THE WORST. Understaffed, understocked, undertrained. There was a line, which we were happy to wait on, as we started chatting with the people near us and weren't in a rush. We ordered two iced max drinks and waited patiently, tipping well in advance. They clearly could not handle a rush, and their logistical operation made zero sense. They barked out our order, but when we came to the counter to get it, we were briskly told it wasn't ready. So why call it out???? And then the iced drinks were served in hot containers, so you're not paying the same price per volume, and it wasn't the right vessel. Also, the drink just wasn't good. We wish we hadn't tipped so generously at the start, and really would recommend NOT going here. Zero stars, but because it's Yelp, one star, and we're going to do a separate, special review for this place.

Yelp
This famous, old market has approximately 100 vendors( if not more). There are many butchers and sweets counters. There are also what I would call "snack" vendors. The meat counters have mostly cuts of meat to take home and cook, vs. cold cuts/deli meats. The sweets vendors include cookies, cakes like tiramisu, chocolates and macarons. The vendors I refer to as "snack" vendors sell dips and hummus, pickles and olives. The vendors are in a kind of grid pattern inside the Market. There are some who share one long counter, like a cookie/cake vendor next to a candy vendor. This is also the case with one who sells dips and hummus alongside the pickle and olive seller. There also a small cafe/diner off to one side. We only walked through it on the way into the main floor of the Market. I did not see a menu. There is a parking lot across from the Market. It costs $8.00. On a busy marketing day, one might have to park there, but there are also parking meters on the surrounding side streets which cost 25 cents/half hour and have a one hour time limit. This market is a must-see when visiting Cleveland. The locals do shop here! Some prices were very reasonable; some seemed a bit high.

Yelp
It's an experience. There are A LOT of people. If you get anxiety in crowds, if you get angry in Costco at the people who stand and look lost, maybe make this an express trip? It's not cheap, it's also not friendly for those of us on vacation. There's some bakeries with fresh stuff but this felt like a lot of grocery type vendors. Fresh pasta, fresh food you can take to a potlatch or gathering or warm up at home for dinner. I recommend going to see the gorgeous architecture and to buy some baked goods or fresh produce.

Yelp
I grabbed the food from four different stations, the bratwurst sandwich with crunchy bun and juicy sausage, the gyro with most substantial gyro meat, crispy and creamy pepperoni roll after baking, soft and sweet apple fritter, and pizza bagels left for breakfast.

Yelp
If you live in Cleveland or just visiting, this is a must! I live about 35 minutes away so it's not often that I take a trip here. But when I do, it's always an enjoyable experience. Walking through the market, both inside and outside, gets my creative vibes going. The array of colors, ingredients, and senses...it just inspires you to cook and enjoy food. You can really go crazy buying scrumptious foods and pastries. Vegetables and fruits are great prices. And the vendors inside with meats, cheeses, pasta, spices, baked goods, all offer good bargains and quality products. Not to mention, the building itself is beautiful. Pro tip: Bring a good sized bag or two, along with a cooler in your car, and buy a few days of delectables from the West Side Market! The first 90 minutes are free in the parking lot on weekends too.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We saw (and bought) produce we've never seen in the grocery store! We felt a little like we'd had our lunch money taken from us on the produce side. Most booths had most of the same offerings and they all wanted to attract our business one way or another. Inside the big market I loved the happy trash cans. So many offerings of fresh meats, baked goods, etc. We bought a few snacks to enjoy on the spot. Fun time!

Yelp
This is one of those places I bring my friends to when they visit CLE because there's a usually a bustling vibe and a variety of foods to look at. However, unless you're actively planning ahead of time to purchase something I feel like you're usually going to window shop and leave without anything. There are almost two parts to the market: one part is where fruits, veggies and produce are sold and the other part is where meats, desserts, baked goods, and entrees are sold. The veggies and produce are actually pretty low and competitive prices compared to supermarket prices. The meats are usually similar in price to supermarkets but they seem to be much higher in quality so it's relative price is probably very worth it. Parking is simple and is free for the first 90 minutes so that's a plus.

Yelp
Pretty neat place with a huge selection of fresh meat, fish, veggies and bread. Parking is free. Prices are good on some items but not much of a savings on others. That reflects on the individual vendors not the overall property.

Yelp
This is where the locals shop. We got here at 8 AM went into the parking lot taking a ticket, : 90 minutes free. We walked past lots of beautiful produce & went around the corner into the market. Only 1 coffee stand, we cued up. We walked past beautiful pastries, ethnic foods, raw meats & poultry, cheeses, fresh pasta, spices, olive oil, pierogis, breads, .... everything gourmet food at reasonable prices. I enjoyed a apple fritter & my husband a muffin with coffee for breakfast.

Yelp
Occasion: Visiting my daughter in Cleveland If you're into food (and who isn't, really?!) this should make the short list for visits to Cleveland! WSM houses a bunch of local food-related businesses. Some prepare food for you on-site, some sell food that they've prepared elsewhere, and some sell high quality ingredients. What you can do here is eat a delicious meal with as many courses as you like, and bring home another one and/or groceries for the week. What you can not do here, is comfortably eat the food you've purchased. There are just too many people and in close quarters. They do have a cafe but we didn't try it - there were just too many vendors to sample. Make sure you check out the balcony - it's a relatively calm place to eat your snack and you also get the best view of the market for photos. Would I recommend? Yes, for anyone visiting or who likes to shop local Would I return? probably not - I've seen it now and it's unfortunately not an easy or welcoming place for those with disabilities Service Dog grade: D- the place has throngs of people and children EVERYWHERE. There simply was not adequate space to maneuver with a dog (or a wheelchair or stroller or cart of any kind) . I didn't see an elevator or any sort of accommodations for those with mobility disabilities (my dog uses stairs but I wanted to mention in case others don't). We were also denied access by the owner of the market import store who didn't understand ADA laws. This is the first time I've had to seek out law enforcement to help reinforce ADA laws and the officer on duty did not disappoint; he had a talk with the woman and sought us out later to describe their conversation and apologize on behalf of the WSM. I want to end the review on a positive note though, so I'll also mention that all of the parents in the market did a good job of helping their children understand that service dogs should not be pet. And any of the children over about 7 years old were incredibly respectful and I could hear some of them telling younger siblings about the role of service dogs. It always warms my heart to hear that...

Yelp
Well worth a visit! Durning our trip we started two days there. It is a real market with an emphasis on shops that provide meat, baked goods, vegetables, fruit, flowers etc. Unlike many city markets that have an emphasis on touristy items or over-priced specialty items, this is a working market that the locals seem to frequent quite readily, as their prices seem very reasonable for staples like meat and baked goods, etc. (I had coffee across the street, and it seemed to get quite a bit of local traffic.) It is very easy to visit since you get 90 minutes free parking in their lot, and since the area in general is very interesting too, I don't know why you wouldn't stop by.

Yelp
Before trendy food halls started popping up around the world, there were markets like West Side Market. Founded in 1840, the market moved into its current grand building in 1912, attracting thousands of tourists and locals. Park in the lot next door. It's free for the first 90 minutes. Enter the side halls where locals sell product, flowers and other grocery items. Then head into the grand hall where you'll find dozens of vendors selling pies, coffee and even thick cuts of jerky. Follow signs to the public bathrooms in the basement. Also, don't miss going to the balcony for a bird's eye view of the market.

Yelp
The West Side Market was such a lovely stop during our trip to Cleveland! Every list I read stated that West Side Market as a must-do in the city, so we figured it couldn't hurt to check it out. The Market is huge and offers a wide variety of vendors. From produce to meats to baked goods, they have a little something for everyone. I'm so sad we aren't from the area, otherwise we would've stocked up on meat and produce for the week. Everything is reasonably priced! We indulged in a few mid-morning treats: my boyfriend got a bratwurst and I got a vegetable breakfast pie. Both were so good and the value of each was amazing! They have a parking lot on site which is free for the first 90 minutes and a dollar for every hour after. There's plenty of parking in the lot though some reviewers have noted an uptick on the weekends. We went on Saturday morning and we had good luck! I wish something like this existed in my hometown.

Yelp
Great experience here! There was lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, bakeries, and more. There was also a diner if you wanted to sit down and eat a meal

Yelp
I love the West Side Market in Cleveland, Ohio and whenever I am in the area...I have to stop. Its usually always crowded especially on weekends and in warmer seasons. You can buy foods from any stand and be in Foodie Heaven. Reminds me of markets that J visited when I live in Germany. I love the aromas and how they all intertwine together, though sometimes over powering at times. I still love it and when I leave I can't wait you visit again. If you are in the area, stop for a pastry, tea, coffee anything really You can not choose wrong!!!

Yelp
Online this location looked like there were alot of vendors to see and food to try. However today there were ALOT of empty spaces. Only offered cotton candy grapes and pineapples. They wanted to charge me $25 for a bag of grapes . Now there are a ton of veggies and meats available to purchase. But if your a tourist and you can't cook in your hotel room, this isn't the place to go unless you want sweets. Maybe because of Covid alot of businesses closed. But I was highly disappointed in the West Side Market. GREAT SPOT FOR LOCALS NOT FOR US TOURIST. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY GETTING THERE!!!
