All I can say is wow! The West Street Hotel in Bar Harbor was truly one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. The staff were incredible! They were genuinely kind, attentive, and always going the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. My room was fantastic, with a stunning ocean view that made every morning feel magical. I loved stepping out onto the balcony to watch the boats drift in and the morning mist roll across the water. The rooftop pool was a wonderful bonus! It was peaceful, relaxing, and offering yet another breathtaking view. And the location? Perfect. Right in the heart of town, just steps away from shops, restaurants, and so many fun activities.I’ll definitely be staying here again the next time I’m in Bar Harbor. Huge thanks to everyone at the West Street Hotel for making our visit unforgettable! :)

Our stay at West Street Hotel was exceptional from start to finish. The location was perfect, and every aspect of the service — from the valet and front desk to the housekeeping staff — exceeded our expectations. Our harbor view room was spotless, comfortable, and well-appointed, making it truly memorable and a top-tier experience. A special thank-you to Nichole, the General Manager, who went above and beyond to assist with our reservation. Her responsiveness and willingness to accommodate our needs made the booking process seamless and stress-free. We truly appreciated the hospitality and attention to detail throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

The decor in the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean. The staff were professional and kind. The parking was a huge plus. The location was awesome. The pool service and atmosphere were excellent. And the available water and snacks on each floor were the best bonus! We will be back! Thank you~

This hotel was just absolute perfection. From its ideal location, wonderful staff and amenities, we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away. The lobby and check in process was quick and seamless. We really loved the wristbands that allowed my entire family access to the room and building. The coffee/tea stations on each floor were impressive and fully stocked our entire stay. We were also lucky enough to be on the third floor with laundry available to us free of charge, they even provided us with detergent. Our room was incredibly spacious and so clean. Room service came by daily refilling our towels and shower products. The roof top pool is only for 18+ but the access the Bar Harbor Bay Club more than made up to it for my children. We recommend taking a bit of a walk to the pool and hot tub over looking the natural bridge. It was never busy the entire weekend we stayed. My family had a wonderful time and we are looking forward to our next stay at the West Street Hotel!

Google
We felt completely at home during our stay, and so did our pups. The rooms were spotless and very quiet. Everyone who works there was incredibly kind and helpful. A plus was that on each floor there is a refreshment center with coffee, tea, ice, fruits, and kind bars—we thought that was a nice touch. The location couldn’t have been better. There’s a super cute shop on the lower level and a ton to explore just steps away from the property. We also LOVED that the rooftop pool is adults only—loved, loved, loved that!

The rooms were great! The room was posh, and big. It was dog friendly also. It had a balcony, and the bathrooms were great. The service was awesome! From the front desk, to the waiters, to other staff - all of them were kind. I mean, they treated us like royalty. Finally, the location was fantastic! The view was just awesome! We could see the big ocean, parts of Acadia, and the big beautiful sky. I couldn’t ask anymore from the West Street Hotel. If you visit that hotel - I can guarantee you that you will love it!

Google
Great location with parking. Rooms nice not a/c poor. Best feature is included Bar Harbor club with hot tub and pool across the street. Without that I would have felt robbed as hotel has few amenities for families. No one under 18 at the rooftop pool. Liked the free coffee etc on each floor. Otherwise felt like resort fee could have included some breakfast, kind of cheap. Resort fee was a rip off considering room prices are extremely expensive. Front desk help marginal at best.

Google
We loved our stay at the West Street Hotel in Bar Harbor, ME. The location was perfect for walking around town, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the property was very clean and updated. The self-serve tea/coffee bar on each floor was handy, and Ben, the hotel dog, was always there to greet us when we returned to the hotel! We will definitely stay here again next time we return to Bar Harbor.

Yelp
At first I was quite impressed with the hotel. The location is great, the parking is nearby, and days prior to arrival they texted me to see if there's anything I needed prior to arrival. The room was well appointed and ready an hour before the check in time. There's a snack station on each floor equipped with cold water bottles, a nice selection of coffees and teas, fruit, and Kind bars. Robes are provided in the rooms, and the room service is from the nearby restaurant Paddy's. Prior to bedtime, we filled out the breakfast room service ordering menu and placed it outside. The first day was great. Room service arrived right on time the next morning. We ate and headed out for the day. I noticed later at night that they didn't leave another room service ordering menu. Figured no big deal, we'll just go down for breakfast the next day. This is when we ran into a few issues - we went down to the restaurant for breakfast at 930 and were told by a staff member at Paddy's that they were backed up with room service orders and she recommended we go across the street for breakfast, or there would be quite a wait. Okay that's fine - we had plans for the day so we ate across the street. A bit frustrating because breakfast was included in our nightly rate. When we got back in the afternoon around 3pm, I noticed the room wasn't cleaned. On the way out for dinner, I spoke with the front desk about housekeeping, and also asked them to make sure we get a room service breakfast order menu as we didn't the day before. When we came back from dinner - only one of the two beds was made. The bathroom floor was not vacuumed, and we didn't have our breakfast order menus. Again, I reached out to the front desk, who sent someone up with the menus. I mentioned the housekeeping issue to the guy who brought the menus up - he clarified that we would like to make sure both beds are made and the bathroom is cleaned .....yes. Felt odd to have to clarify that as this is usually understood. Later that evening we wanted to order room service for dessert - it was difficult to get someone on the phone. Ended up going to the restaurant to get the dessert to-go. The next morning our breakfast did not arrive. I called to follow up - Nicole at the front desk checked with the restaurant and made sure our food would be delivered. Our food arrived, though an hour late and missing one entree. Not Nicole's fault; she was excellent with following up with us. There seems to be some staffing issues as the one person at the front desk is always alone with seemingly a ton of things to be responsible for. I wanted to love this hotel, but the small things do add up. I ended up rather disappointed with my stay.

Yelp
I'm giving an overall 5! But our room gets a 3/5.... So 4 it is. Location: The place is perfectly located!! Close to shops, the harbor, tour kickoffs, food, everything. Amenities: the rooftop pool is AWESOME! Great views of everything around and a perfect place to watch sunsets. They have service by the pool as well. We ended up taking hot apple cider from the lobby up here at night and watching the sunset. So beautiful! Wish we would've played pool (billiards) as well! There's also a little station with coffee, crystal light, water bottles, ice, etc. BUT THE FIRST FLOOR DOES NOT HAVE THIS. You have to go up to access. Room: we had basically a basement room with a "balcony" checking out the parking lot. Trucks unload constantly in the morning and it gets busy in town so bring a sound machine if you're on the first floor. Also there's NO ICE on first floor. You HAVE TO GO UPSTAIRS. They didn't tell us this. We had to figure it out on our own. Service: the people that work here are SO nice!! And they gave us fantastic recommendations! Overall notes: dog friendly, bike storage, very clean hotel, walkable to everything. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
The location for this property could hardly be better. The views are amazing. The cruise ships cause some congestion, but also lends to great people watching. The rooms are good size and the beds are comfortable. In room bath products are of good quality. The beverage bar on each floor is a very nice touch. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. Our only disappointment is Paddy's restaurant. We are not sure the real connection between the two, but it does not represent well for the hotel.

Yelp
Service, ambiance, views, were all top notch. Loved the design and amenities. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
This hotel is a great choice. Excellent location with amazing Bar Harbor views and right in the village, so you can walk to everything. We got a Premium Ocean Front view room (ask for room 333) and were not dissatisfied. The online images are accurate. Our views from our private balcony were awesome. The staff is fantastic, I like that you can text them anytime. Each floor has a little station with coffee, tea, bottled water, apples etc. The bed was very comfortable, quality bedding, with lots of pillows, nice modern shower. AND they have their own parking lot which is very important in Bar Harbor. Views from our balcony attached.

Yelp
Wonderful accommodations, centrally located, excellent customer service experience. Particularly enjoyed the coffee and espresso bar on every floor included in the cost.

Yelp
We had been planning a trip to Nova Scotia for awhile, and when we arrived, Hurricane Dorian caused us to have to change plans. I'm so glad we did, because that is how we found West Street Hotel and the Opal collection! Once we knew we were going to return to Bar Harbor, we went online and started looking at next day reservations. Opal group has Opal discounts for rooms they need to fill, and we scored a super sweet deal booking directly on their website. The location is convenient, in walking distance to everything, with a huge parking lot and generously sized rooms for parties of all sizes. When we arrived, we were greeted with complimentary valet parking, and went inside to check in. The first thing I noticed was the smell- it was divine! I was also very pleased with the aesthetic of the lobby, nautical but very refined. The front desk lady was friendly and checked us in promptly. Our room was in the building adjacent to the building the lobby is in, and is attached via the 4th and 5th floors. The room was gorgeous. The detail was really nice, with a super plush and ultra comfy bed, spotless bathroom, and deck with rocking chairs. I loved that the smell that greeted me in the lobby was the same scent of the bath products, all by Nest brand. Each floor has a room with espresso, coffee, snacks and board games, as well as bottled water at all times. This seemed like a great attention to detail, and went above and beyond the usual. The brand is also very pet friendly, and even has check in goodie bags for furry visitors. The price of the rooms on the Opal rewards was phenomenal. That said, I also think that the undiscounted price would still be worth the price for the overall experience. I was so impressed with our stay here, we hadn't finished our vacation before we were already booking our next return trip to West Street Hotel. From start to finish and everything in between, this experience was exceptional. We also bought a candle with the fragrance from the front desk so we can hold onto our vacation vibes once home. Solid 5 stars.

Yelp
Really appreciated the cleanliness and the quiet atmosphere. So many hotels around the country have fallen short on a good scrub. Very disheartening. We will return again next year.

Yelp
We just spent 4 days at the West Street hotel in Bar Harbor and it was perfect. Location is great, rooms are amazing, roof top pool was outstanding. And all staff members very helpful; knowledgeable, and very friendly. If you are going to Bar Harbor look no further.

Yelp
This hotel is definitely as good as it gets when it comes to hospitality and comfort. The service, the staff, the amenities, the decor, the location - all impeccable. Not only are the common areas beautiful, but so are the rooms. Rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. The staff is helpful and friendly. I also loved the kitchenettes on each floor stocked with bottled water, fruit, Nespresso coffee, and baked cookies each night. And I have to mention the complimentary washer and dryer on each floor as well. A very nice touch that will keep me coming back whenever I'm in Bar Harbor.

Yelp
Excellent location, friendly staff, and good amenities. Hotel & Rooms were also very clean. Near everything in Bar Harbor and a short drive to Acadia. Highly recommend.

Yelp
If you're coming to Bar Harbour and are going to be staying overnight, you definitely, definitely should co spider staying here. This was the nicest of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip to Maine. Not only are the common areas beautiful, but so are the rooms. The staff is super friendly and always finding ways to be helpful and provide the best service possible. I also loved how they made snacks and beverages available on each floor for all hotel guests. It was really a nice touch.

Kathleen H.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel to stay at. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. It's clean. They have a complimentary coffee station on ever floor that has fresh fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and ice. There is an finite pool on rooftop. The scenery is beautiful, it over looks Bar Harbor. The front desk greets you every time you walk in and walk out. They always ask how you are doing. There is a restaurant called Paddy's attached to the hotel and it has great food. It is dog friendly and they have a really nice Labrador who's name is Finn that is with them in the lobby who loves to be petted . This was my second time staying there, I will be going back anytime I go to visit Bar Harbor.

Chase J.

Yelp
Solid location and water views. Had a great top floor room with a balcony. Easy to get to everything in town and staff is very helpful. Like the complimentary tea/coffee/water and snack station you have in the hall, along with the prepped ice. If you have a car there is parking associated with the hotel directly behind and there is a back door one can easily access with the room card. Umbrellas in the lobby along with a big yellow lab. Only knock is the overly plush bed for my liking. Room service solid and very quick. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

Andrew M.

Yelp
This hotel is a unique boutique hotel on the water in Bar Harbor. Now that we have visited we can say none have a better location. From Ocean/ Bay Views you see the Islands and small shops on the waterfront. Beautiful Rooms and hotel are very nice. Linens and Bedding excellent Shower superb. Don't take ANY recommendations from front desk. Use YELP. Sister hotel across the street NG and AVOID Bella Vita Restaurant inside !

Yelp
I strongly recommend this hotel and it's friendly professional staff. This is not the first time and I will say not the last time we came to Bar Harbor Maine. We stayed at other well run hotels. However, service we have received from the staff of West Street hotel is on a different level all together. I specifically want to give recognition to the hotel General Manager. We will be back and hopefully my review will make others who seek to visit this wonderful place helpful.

Yelp
We stayed at West Street Thursday-Monday of Labor Day weekend and truly had a wonderful stay. The hotel is comfortable and the location couldn't be better! We opted to pay a little bit more for an 'ocean view' room and it was SO worth it. If you don't go for the 'ocean view' your view will 100% be overlooking the parking lot. Our view couldn't have been more beautiful to wake up to. Seeing the sunrise over the water from our balcony (huge balcony let me note) was wonderful. The staff we interacted with were always attentive and friendly. We LOVED the rooftop pool and enjoyed cocktails up there after a day of hiking and biking. There's no hot tub up on the rooftop, but West Street is and the hotel across the street, Harborside, are both OPAL hotels and guests at West Street can use Harborside's hot tub...which we did. Super easy since it's only takes 30 seconds to walk across the street to Harborside. West Street has an on-site parking lot, which makes it really easy to use your car every day. We needed our car daily in order to get to the mountains at Acadia and the parking situation couldn't have been easier. The hotel's location on West Street is super convenient -- everything we wanted to do in Bar Habor was a ~5 min or so walk. We had the best time in Bar Habor/Acadia and the West Street Hotel truly made that possible! We would 100% stay here again (next time we'll bring our dog since they're dog friendly!).

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel almost since it opened in a suite with beautiful harbor views and lovely balcony just above Paddy's Restaurant. In March of 2021 I reserved the same suite for 3 nights for a July stay. After the pandemic year of 2020 we were anxiously awaiting the beautiful balcony where we could look out at the amazing views and be outside! When we arrived after checking in we were told to go to the building next door which is attached the hotel but on the other side of the driveway. When we arrived in the room I first went to the balcony which was small and when I sat down I could hardly see above the closed in area. The harbor view was at best an obstructed view looking in between buildings and trees. I went to the front desk and told them they had made a mistake on the room. They said no it was the right room with a harbor view, I explained how we had always reserved the same suite but this was not it. After some discussion they said we could be moved to our usual suite on the last day of our stay which we did not do. We paid the same price for the obstructed view room as our usual room - $1300 per night! They told us they do not assign the rooms until it gets closer to the reservation however we have to cancel seven days before we would arrive to get a refund. Best to try and verify where your room actually is before you arrive, if you've never been there I guess it doesn't matter but this room could have been anywhere.

Yelp
STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! THIS PLACE IS SHADY!!!! I visited the Hotel Columbus Day weekend and really enjoyed the stay. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, the rooms are well appointed and the location is great, right on the water. The reason for the one star review is the management here is shady. I checked out, received a printed and email checkout sheet which I confirmed was accurate. Then a few days later, the Hotel charged my card again for $750. I reached out to the Hotel and was told nobody was available to help me at the moment, and was given a phone number and email for someone to assist. When I did reach someone, the person I spoke with, Deb Jordan, said that she couldn't help, but would pass it along to "accounting." So instead of removing the incorrect charges, they just email me a new checkout sheet listing the incorrect charges. No phone call or email to follow up or explain why they are there. So I called and email again, explaining these charges are incorrect and asked for a follow up phone call from accounting confirming when they are removed. No phone call, no email, but this time I receive another checkout sheet via email, this time showing a credit but shorting me over $100 on the credit back. I again called, this time the phone line is disconnected. Sent multiple emails, no response. And they never credited me back either amount to my credit card. So I have to file a dispute with my credit card company to get this resolved now. It's too bad because I had planned on coming back here and would have definitely spent a lot more money at the Hotel. There is no need or excuse for stealing money from guests. My recommendation, stay away, it's not worth the hassle and aggravation.

Dr. P.

Yelp
WATCH OUT FOR CREDIT CARD PROBLEMS HERE! I dined at Paddys restaurant (in the hotel). The waitress accidentally did not return my credit card. I called. Both she and thee Manager confirmed they had the card. I authorized a fee for postage and a tip for the waitress for the inconvenience to mail it to me. More than a week has gone by so I called back. I WAS TOLD IT IS NOW HOTEL MANAGEMENT POLICY NOT TO RETURN CUSTOMERS CREDIT CARDS!, despite no cost to them!!! If management choose to skimp on important service like this where else may they choose to skimp? Covid Cleaning? Who knows? BE AWARE !!!

Yelp
Very disappointed!! We had hoped to stay another night. However the hotel was sold out. When we asked, the receptionist, "Alex," was extremely unhelpful. Therefore we inquired about a late check out. I was told they had already provided as many late check outs as possible this morning due to housekeeping and being sold out, she would need to speak with her manager. After being placed on hold for a few moments she returned and was unable to accommodate our request. Later the same morning I overheard her extend late check out to another guest on the phone while I was in the lobby. With all due fairness, the hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable but for the price the service was extremely poor and unhelpful. Additionally, the coffee machine on the fourth floor didn't work properly. I've stayed in many many hotels and at this price point, over $500/night, I would expect better service and customer relations. This was the very first time I was not granted a late check out at any hotel. Very disappointed.

Aliya B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here with my family. The night we got there, the parking lot was completely full so they valeted our rental. The room was lovely and the hotel was in walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants on our itinerary. It's a short drive to Acadia. Not five star experience for me though because when we visited in October, the affiliated Bar Harbor Club was a serviceless, inactive no man's land, and the cable was out all weekend, so the built in 'lounge time' of our schedule was not so leisurely once all our books were read and NFL Sunday games came and went. I think a 5 star way to handle it would be to have decreased resort fees during non summer months when the club affiliation isn't a real perk or when standard amenities can't be fulfilled. I'd visit again and you should too, but there's always room for improvement!

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel with a fabulous honeymoon upgrade to a harbor view room. The pantry on each floor was a nice touch --- free coffee, tea and bottled water. Board games and puzzles, too! Rooftop pool is gorgeous if you have nice weather. Great customer service, classy decor and close to many bars and restaurants. Worth it!

Susan W.

Yelp
Rooms are huge and clean. Beds super comfortable (not the sofa beds - skip those). Location is fantastic. Room service food not so good, but otherwise, this place is great. (Suggestion: Open the 5th floor pool to all and invest in it a little - best real estate in Bar Harbor, but needs some charm, and no one is using it)

Ezgi K.

Yelp
This hotel overall is good with nice clean rooms, however, the hotel doesn't seem to care about our feedback that we provided at the end our stay. We had issues with the front desk who did a very poor job meeting our needs and was not wearing his mask properly. He didn't give us any information regarding the hotel and the facilities. At the end of our trip, we learned that there is a rooftop pool, there is another oceanfront swimming pool and a spa at the Club. We had no idea and therefore we were not able utilize those facilities which would have added more enjoyable moments in our stay at your hotel. We felt like even though we paid a good amount of money, we were actually not able utilize any of the benefits. This was something we were not expecting from West Street Hotel and we were disappointed. Therefore, we reached out to hotel and provided this feedback. The hotel didn't even respond. I have never seen something like this before, it was even more disappointing.

Yelp
WOW...seriously this is the place to stay. Why? -courteous and friendly staff. -place to lock up your bikes safely -incredible lobby -Paddy's for drinks & food! -the view...we received a great upgrade on top floor overlooking the Puffin & whale watching boats and the bay. -rooftop pool - no kids!! -separate pool for families and a LAP POOL so I could swim laps - overlooking the bay. -each floor has a water/tea/cookies kiosk for guests - so nice and great way to save money on water - just don't be a pig and take more than you need. -sitting on our balcony, drinking wine, eating cheese & crackers - the best! amazing stay - would definitely return.

Yelp
Amazing, amazing, amazing. The service, the staff, the amenities, the decor, the location - all above and beyond. We are particular about the quality of our lodging when we travel, and West Street is impeccable!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back. This Marriott property offers shared amenities with another property across the street. The rooms are decent and relatively quiet and the people are great. Parking is also decent for downtown Bar Harbor. Hard to beat a stay at this hotel. We didn't stay long enough to really take advantage of most of what it had to offer. We'll be back!

Yelp
This place is amazing! It definitely my favorite of all hotels I've ever stayed at (and I've definitely stayed at MANY hotels). Upon checking in, they tell us that we were given a free upgrade to the best room they have in the whole place - a 2br 2 bath suite that had 3 balconies on the 4th floor. I have no idea why and i did not question because the room was HUGE! It was awesome! I felt all kinds of important. hah. Even if the upgrade wasn't given to us I would have still loved this place. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The beds were SO comfortable. Every night I would lay down and immediately fall into a coma. I never fall asleep that quickly. Next, every floor had a fully stocked pantry which came with free bottles of water, a fancy Keurig machine, fruits (morning) and cookies (evenings). The location was right on the waterfront and steps away from shops/restaurants. The view from the rooms were wonderful. Everything about this hotel was just perfect.

Yelp
Love this place. From the staff to the guest room, the linens and towels, guest pantry, roof top pool, availability to use sister property, location, this place is AWESOME. Don't consider staying anywhere else in Bar Harbor

Yelp
Amazing hotel with water views and close to town. Very clean. Without a doubt I'd choose this hotel again.

Yelp
It is fine, but totally average for a seasoned traveler - especially on the service/front desk aspect. We booked a premium king with ocean view for $500/night in August. The room and bathrooms are pretty generic. The view is as you would expect - ocean and harbor. Their check-in time is 4pm - which is late - and suggests they haven't figured out how to run their back-of-house. Upon arrival, front desk was curt - I'd guess it is her first job working in the service industry. She was young and amateur with salty responses to questions. Not really cut out for the hospitality industry, you kind of expect that crustiness when dealing with automobile repairs. We had to wait for a room because we arrived at 3 -which was an unpleasant - if not unexpected - reality after a long day of traveling. We had also called twice - once in the morning to see if a room turned over earlier, later in the early afternoon, we were told we were put on a "waiting list" and would be called, but never heard back. When we arrived at 3, they again mentioned the waiting list - saying it was 15 people long (which speaks volumes about their timing issues - get it together). When I asked her to double check our number on the list (she suggested we were #15), since we had called, she checked and realized we were actually #4. It's messy administration there. Also, the lobby isn't designed as a comfortable lounge - it is an awkward layout with no amenities to treat guests if there is a hiccup, or they arrive early like many of us (the lobby was filled with guests waiting on sofas to get into their rooms). The folks in the morning were more professional and pleasant when I checked out, although no answer when we called them and valet before we left several times. I wouldn't book a room here again in the future, nor could I recommend it in good conscious.

Yelp
If I could give them zero stars I would. Nobody came to clean our room this morning and we left around noon. We came back to our hotel at 3:00p and it still hadn't been clean. We were in our room for fifteen minutes when the cleaning lady finally shows up. I told her that we were leaving in just five minutes and asked if she could come back in fine. She gave me attitude about it like "whatever." We leave In about five minutes just to find her flirting with another coworker and when we tell her we are leaving and that the room is free to clean she just flirts louder shouting across the room. I go downstairs to complain and to make sure someone tells someone to clean the room. It was 3:15p. I explain to downstairs what's happening and they said they will take care of it. Finally we come back at 5:30p just to find that the room was not cleaned at all. I go downstairs to complain. There is no manager even on site and she can't get back to me until tomorrow. I am told that I am not even allowed to ask for her to speak to me on the phone because she is conveniently driving some place. Then the person on site who acts like she's in charge but is in no position to really do anything except shed a few dollars and offer breakfast says that it's the best they can do. We leave for dinner just to come back to the room without anything really cleaned. The bed was made but it was the worst bed job you really can imagine and the sink hadn't been touched. I told them that a spider was in the room (huge) and they said they would send someone immediately. And they never did. This is the absolutel worst bite experience I've ever had and it's too bad because it's a great location. Also valet leaves u waiting for 20 minutes. Usually there is only one person down there doing it. Smh

Yelp
We spent two wonderful nights at this lovely hotel. It is a boutique style hotel. The customer service is superb. The front desk staff members are friendly and helpful and so good at what they do. Amenities are very good..complimentary pantry with 24hr coffee tea hot chocolate cider fruit cookies. The rooms are great and our view was magnificent. We were in room 435...perfect. Spend the money and get a room with a view. We would return in a hot second.

Yelp
Hotel service staff is great but its management is THE WORST EVER! It does not care about the customer at all! They bully customers and ignore customers after fraudulent charges!! They really don't give a damn about customers once they charge you! I originally booked another hotel in Bar Harbor for one night. On the day before I arrived, I got a call from the hotel manager apologizing that there was a medical emergency and asked if I can help the situation by being transferred to West Street Hotel instead. I have already paid for my night online, and the hotel manager promised there won't be an additional charge incurred. I checked in at West Street Hotel, with their front desk fully aware and was communicated the situation, took my credit card for incidental charges. 2 months later, West Street Hotel showed up on my credit card statement as it charged me again for the night. I thought it might just be a benign mistake and called the hotel, then it started my nightmare as a customer trying to get my money back. At first, its Director of Sales and Catering picked up the phone once and had a couple of back and forth email communication with me. I explained the situation and she said she will reach out to the accounting department and get back to me. Gradually nobody ever picked up the phone and I kept emailing and was completely ignored. I called the West Street Hotel and its management company at least 20 times, leaving numerous voice messages and emailing numerous times in the next 6 MONTHS!!! They kept ignoring me and already knowing it's clearly their own accounting mistake, they just decided to let the consumer take the hit. I contacted my credit card company, but they need the original invoice from West Street Hotel as evidence, which I never received. And of course, when I reached out asking for one, I was ignored again. I called the first hotel and the manager there assured that his hotel has already paid West Street Hotel, therefore I really shouldn't be double charged and should be refunded. No matter for what reason, I was put in an extremely frustrating situation as a clear mistake made by West Street Hotel and yet knowing their own mistake, they simply chose to overlook it. The story ended with the first hotel manager felt so bad about my situation, and personally wrote me a check. To this day, I've never heard from the West Street Hotel. No refund and not even an apology. A wrong charge of $652.91 is not a ton of money, but also is not insignificant. I'm now writing this review now not because I want a refund. But because of my extreme disappointment in the West Street Hotel of how little they care, and how difficult it is for an individual consumer to fight for her own right that she deserves - not being double charged for a hotel night. I can't understand how this hotel can stay in business while none of its management cared to make things right for an individual consumer. They made a mistake and put the burden on the consumers and simply chose to look away and ignore the complaint. Not that they didn't receive the complaint, as they clearly did. But THE West Street Hotel SIMPLY DOESN'T CARE!!!

Yelp
We booked an oceanfront deluxe room for three nights in the beginning of Sept, but was thoroughly disappointed when we looked out from the room to see mostly a harbor view. The website is a little deceiving when you look at the pictures for the oceanfront room - the view from our room definitely didn't correlate with those pictures. The room inside was nice, including the bathroom. The bed linens were very wrinkled and not very high quality. The fitted sheet also did not cover the entire depth of the mattress - seemed like someone ordered the wrong sheets for the hotel. The room was noisy - housekeeping was very loud when cleaning other rooms in the morning and we could hear cars/trucks/outside people down below us. Housekeeping skipped our room entirely on the second day (we left for 6 hours that day) - had to call guest services to request cleaning. Requested two wine glasses from guest services one night and got one wine glass with drops of wine already in it. Our used wine glasses and other glasses were left in the room after their initial use for multiple nights with no replacements. Parking at the back of the hotel was convenient and included in your resort fee. The downside to the parking is that if you weren't back before a certain time in the evening, you would be on your own to look for parking elsewhere. At over $400 per night, we expected more from a hotel at this price point.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. Firm comfortable beds. Great location. Each floor has kitchenette with chilled water, fruit, coffee etc. rooms are well appointed and bathrooms very nice. Not inexpensive but worth it. Would definitely stay again.

Yelp
We live outside of NYC so it's quite a hike up there. And normally we don't go two years in a row to a destination. But this hotel will have us back up there next year. Great staff....we found them to be very knowledgeable. Beautiful Room. They have these lovely flowerpots hanging from some of the balconies. If your room has one it's a balcony buzz kill. There was no problem changing our room after the first night, and we were there on the busiest weekend of the year. The handicapped rooms have a tub. So don't choose that room unless you need it or it's all that's left. The regular rooms have an awesome bathroom with a large walk in tiled shower. I think some of these reviewers whine because they like to whine. If some Russian lady is complaining about something, to the staff, for 15 minutes and you just need keys, just say "excuse me, I just need a new key." Have a backbone and I'm sure the clerk will love to get away from the complainer for a minute. I laughed at the guy annoyed that they would push their affiliated restaurants...hello!!...it's a business. The staff of course pushed theirs but also made suggestions for other places. They empty the street cans in the morning but that's pretty quick. If you want total peace and quiet don't book a hotel in the heart of the action. The action is what makes sitting on your bay front balcony great. Different things to see different times of the day. At night it's quiet and we relaxed, on the balcony, and listened to the Irish band playing down in Paddy's. I'll agree the roof top pool could be heated a bit...it gets cool there at night and it's the best vista in town. I would have loved an evening dip. The pool the kids can swim in at the club was beautiful. Paddy's downstairs provides the room service so you can get a great in room meal and enjoy it on your balcony.

Yelp
This hotel has the most incompetent front desk I've ever encountered. I was called to confirm my reservation 24 hours in advance, and I made sure to ask whether the room had been paid for already. The reason was because I wanted to cancel, but I was told I could not because I got a special rate for booking early. When I checked in, they asked for a CC, and I asked again whether it was paid for already. They weren't sure, so they checked. "Yes, that is correct." They were also having a hard time accommodating the guest parking offered. The lot was full. They could not activate my key card, so they had the valet escort me to my room and leave a temporary card to insert so that the lights would work. They asked me to come back down with the key later that night so they could get a tech guy to sort it out. We came back down after dinner, and a Russian woman was badgering the girl at the front desk for a room change. The girl said the hotel was fully booked, and she could not do anything that night. Still the conversation persisted for a good 15 minutes when her husband joined in halfway through to try to charm her or whatnot. Meanwhile, I'm standing there locked out of my room. Now I had just seen this person one hour ago, so she knew what I was waiting for. As soon as the Russians left, she turned her attention to me. I asked if she had reached her tech guy. "Yes, here you go," and she handed me two plastic keys. Could she not have done that at some point during her lengthy talk with the Russians? I'm not the best multitasker in the world, but that would have occurred to me. No one at this hotel seems to have any concept of time management, though. I saw the front desk repeatedly unmanned during peak traffic hours with phones going unanswered. This happened to us when we checked out. We had just had lunch at the pub and charged it to our room. So we asked about room charges. The girl at the front desk said, "It says no charge. Look, zero. So, I guess you got free lunch." Everyone knows there is no such thing. Sure enough, driving home, I get a call asking for another CC to pay for lunch. I asked whether they had charged us again for our stay. The girl had to find a manager. THEY DOUBLE CHARGED US FOR OUR ROOM. We had to call my husband's bank, because they thought his card had been stolen and would not authorize the charge. Here we are driving past lovely Cape Elizabeth, ME at sunset looking at the iconic lighthouse when this bimbo hotel clerk unleashed Armageddon. My husband was furious! I didn't hear the end of it the whole drive back.

Yelp
This review is long overdue . . . My husband and I visited the West Street Hotel for our one year anniversary in June of 2013, and we can't say enough good things about it. Being our one year anniversary, we had really high expectations and West Street Hotel exceeded them all. We booked the corner harbor view room - a bit of a splurge that was 100% worth the extra cost. The room was HUGE, with an extra large bathroom and two porches (both with a view). I really enjoyed the nautical design and the little touches of antiques throughout. I'd read comments about lighting in the bathroom not being bright enough ... there may have been updates between when those reviews were written and when I visited, but I didn't find it to be a problem at all. The hotel had lots of nice touches that made it feel very different than our visits to other hotels. We loved the snack stations which always had fresh fruit or cookies, ice and unlimited coffee or tea. The lobby was very cozy too. Our favorite part of our visit was the adult only rooftop pool. We love children, but on our anniversary getaway appreciated the quiet afternoons. There was plenty of seating - though go early to grab one of the best spots in a "clam shell." During our visit to Bar Harbor, we meant to get out and go hiking but found our afternoons at the pool to be so enjoyable that we didn't wander too far beyond. We ordered lunch from here daily as well as cocktails and found everything we ordered to be delicious. Finally, I can't say enough about how great the service was at the West Street Hotel. We were married at the West Street's sister hotel, The Samoset, so are very familiar with the top-notch service this family of hotels provide ... but it was still very appreciated. Whenever we needed suggestions from the front desk, they remembered us and greeted us by name. The manager was very friendly and sent us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Really, from arrival to departure everyone made sure to make our trip unforgettable. We loved it here, and plan to make a trip every June!

Yelp
Centrally-located with picturesque views of water/boats/quaint buildings and great people-watching from rocking chairs on our balconies. easy ~10 min walk to Village Green to catch town buses; quick walk to Bar Island. Directly across from most of the tour companies. Bed very soft and comfy. So many thoughtful details in this hotel, yet one complaint: huge shower but only one tiny shelf to put toiletries during showers.

Yelp
We were so happy to find this hotel! The location is perfect - it's right on the water looking out at Bar Island. We stayed in a room on the 4th floor looking out on the Bay, and I'd highly recommend doing so. We had a lovely patio sitting area to enjoy sunrises & sunsets that felt just removed enough from all of the tourist activity. The staff is very friendly and professional and saw to our every need. Some amazing amenities that I never knew I needed (but really wished I had at every hotel since) included the complimentary laundry facilities (so amazing when you're on a hiking trip making dirty, sweaty clothes every day) and the pantry area on our floor. In the middle of the hotel was a pantry that had water, coffee & tea 24/7. Also, fresh fruit in the mornings (it seemed to be there all day) and cookies after dinner. It was so nice to walk down the hall for a cup of coffee before breakfast and some tea before bed without having to call room service! The restaurants that are part of the resort (Paddy's and La Bella Vita) are not great. The service wasn't good at either (so bad at Paddy's that the hotel comped our meal) and the food is so-so at best. The hotel does everything so well that it made the bad restaurants forgivable for us - hopefully, those will improve over time. I'm sure it's hard to do both well. We'll be back!

Yelp
The room doors are not properly sound proofed, there is a gap on the bottom of the door, which brings a lot of sound in. Also, the thermostat in our room was not working properly. We called the front desk and they sent a maintenance guy from another hotel in who did not have a clue about the system as he was not the employee of the hotel. Obviously, nothing was fixed. The housekeeping left much to be desired. A few hairs in the tub were left there the next day (I leave a tip every day for the housekeeping). Some supplies were not restocked in the room either. Small things, but still matter. On the other hand, the hotel provided storage for bikes, had a gym, a pool on the roof and access to the club across the street with a hot tub. The service was good. In the lobby you could find water bottles and coffee, and if you are lucky, some fruits (but only if you are VERY lucky). Our room had the view of the harbor which was fantastic!

Yelp
Room 420 is 34 x 15 feet. Bath is 10x6 of that. 510 square feet and we paid about $480 per night, all-inclusive, so that's about 94 cents per square foot. (We paid 83 cents per square foot for a smaller room, no balcony, at the W in Montreal). Rooms 420 and 417 have the largest balconies on the fourth floor, and the only covered balconies on the top floor. Upscale, new hotel right on the wharf. Best views are on the West street side and face the water; other side faces the parking lot. Funny thing: when i booked the hotel, i was told you cannot see the sunset from the property. Well, we could see the sunset from our room. Any top floor room on West Street can view the sunset. And, if your room is not on the top floor, you can go to the fifth floor pool area and watch the sunset. Very young, but friendly and knowledgable staff. Evan, especially, made our stay great. Some rooms do not have bathtub, so be sure to ask if you need one. Could use more lighting near the sofa. Pet peeve: night-stand is between the beds, but no nightstand on the on the opposite sides of each bed. Beautiful horizon pool on roof, but it's not heated! Make-up mirror would not light up. Guy came to fix it and could not figure out how to replace the batteries (it's not hard-wired).

Yelp
Great new hotel right in heart of Bar harbor. Rooms are really very nice and we had one overlooking harbor and street great room and beds are extremely comfortable. Roof top pol is very nice hit kids were not allowed so that made it changeling. The hotel restaurant the Irish pub was pretty good for breakfast and at night had nice entertainment and great Guinness stout on tap. The Maine swimming pool is a very short walk up street to sister hotel pool is very large and clean and has beautiful views overlooking the harbor . A little pricy so you have to look for deals but I will go back

Yelp
First off, after having an extremely negative experience at the Holiday Inn Bar Harbor in which I ended up leaving that hotel with the obnoxious front desk personnel (most specifically Kaitlyn) acting unprofessional and telling my wife and I that they were going to charge us for a night because we had violated their cancellation policy (see recent Yelp review) I ended up at the West Street Hotel in Bar Harbor. I should also note that Holiday Inn and West Street Hotel are within the same corporation but that is where the connection ends. We arranged to stay at the West Street Hotel (WSH) from Sunday 9/27/15 to Saturday 10/03/15 and enjoyed our stay so much that we tacked on an additional day on the end extending our stay to Sunday. After having a horrible initial experience at the Bar Harbor Holiday Inn we were extremely lucky to have secured a room at the WSH. We are mid 50's and I have to say that this was among the best hotels we had ever stayed at and we travel often. The front desk personnel was outstanding, I call particular attention to Mark ( he is the only name I recall). The maintenance and bell staff were polite and helpful The hotel was impeccably clean and well appointed The pantry on each floor was well stocked with coffee, milk, fruits, cookies, water and ice. All available as part of the "resort fee". The rooms were spacious and clean and actually a real comfortable place to hangout during the one day of rain that occurred, thanks to the flat screen television. The location of the hotel was spectacular, right on the bay and at the center of town. Just a two or three mile drive into Acadia Park and its hiking trails. The seven days we spent at the WSH were awesome and we will definitely come again. If you have it in your budget to stay there I highly recommend it. Bob and Liz Cowan

Yelp
Luxurious, prime location, modern, great amenities, clean, reasonably priced, friendly staff. Best place to stay in Bar Harbor for sure. Rooftop pool, clay tennis court, harbor view, harborside pool etc

Yelp
Very nice accommodations (modern/clean) and fantastic location but the reason I am giving it 3 stars is because 1) there was no valet to help with luggage or car (we were told that one was not " on " at the moment) and 2) it was a battle to get late checkout. Just not the service you expect for the price of this hotel.
