The Absolute Best Restaurants in Downtown Brooklyn

"Housed in a soaring industrial space punctuated by massive steel mash tuns, this brewery pairs expertly made, rotating beers—saisons, stouts, and hoppy, hazy IPAs brewed by Mark Szmaida—with wood‑fired, fluffy blistered pizzas overseen first by Luke Bruckert and now by chef Danny Brown; a soppressata-topped pie that arrives fully crisped from the oven is a standout. The large, airy room and visible brewing equipment give the place an unusual, slightly out‑of‑place but striking character for the neighborhood." - Alan Sytsma

A Guide to the Best Craft Beer and Breweries in NYC

"As a brewpub pizzeria in Downtown Brooklyn, I enjoyed quality pies—ham and pineapple, mushroom and goat milk, and bacon and eggs—and found the beer worthy too, with options like a peach wheat and a dry Irish stout." - Chris Crowley

We used to love Westys and have been regular customers for a while. We are big into supporting local restaurants. However, we noticed that they have changed their menu and now presumably use Sysco as their distributor. Their food formerly tasted like a scratch kitchen and now tastes like a frozen and reheated kitchen. You could eat the exact same thing for cheaper at the grocery store… don’t waste your money. We are really disappointed and would love the establishment to reconsider this decision.

I had the butternut squash soup and the Colorado trout for my meal. It was amazing! My son had the chicken sandwich and the string french fries had the perfect seasoning! My husband had the burger at the double and loved everything. The smashed potatoes were amazing. Great band playing on the patio and the service was great.

Generally we enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere of this location. That being said they do take advantage of their touristy location and up charge for things above what they might really be worth. Our last visit there I ordered 3 tacos for $17, and one of them (fish) had literally one bite of meat. It was a great bite... but damn... not worth $17. I guess we just accept this as tourism tax??

I had a good time at Capitol Creek Brewery. I didn't order food but smelling everything that was coming out of the kitchen made me hungry. The trout looked fantastic! I was here for the beer. And it did not disappoint. I ordered a flight and literally everything I had was delicious. They were busy, so the bartender didn't really have time to chat. But the beers here are recommended. Super nice place too.

If you’re passing through the area and looking for some delicious food, stop here. The truffle potatoes were amazing, the tacos were delicious that I got two more chicken tacos. The spicy margarita was one of the best spicy margs I’ve had and you can’t beat the happy hour! The only negative I would say about the food is the fish taco was a sad small fish stick in a tortilla, otherwise the other tacos are great and I will come back when I’m in town again!

I was super hungry on my way from Glenwood to Aspen and hadn't had the chance to eat all day. Big thanks to these guys for serving up a great smash burger, fries and IPA. Much appreciated.

After my friends and I completed the Capitol Creek Circuit Loop we decided to stop here for foods. Very nice environment and our waitress was super awesome. The drinks and foods were delicious. If you have not tried the duck wings those are super incredibly delicious. Highly recommend the duck wings. The burgers were delicious as well. Thanks to the waitress for the free shots. Really appreciate the customer service and definitely coming back to this place again.

The veggie burger was delicious and the southwest chicken salad was a nice surprise. Tasted the IPA. Portions were good and atmosphere was nice - Denver lite. Recommend!
