We recently stayed at WestCord Hotel Eindhoven (Room 544) for a creative retreat. Part ideation weekend, part downtime and it absolutely delivered on both fronts.||What stood out:|• Effortless check-in: I arrived early, and the front desk immediately offered to store my luggage so I could get some work done in the lounge. I was notified as soon as the room was ready: proactive and thoughtful service.|• The bed? Perfect. I slept incredibly well the mattress was great, but the pillow was next-level. I’m planning to buy the exact one from their webshop.|• Genuinely caring staff: Every staff member seemed focused on guest experience. One woman in the restaurant/bar (working on the evenings of Aug 21 and 22) made a huge difference; warm, attentive, and fun. She made us feel seen.|• Excellent food: Our lunches and dinners were spot-on. The carpaccio is a must-try. Fresh, flavourful, beautifully presented.||Ideal for work-creatives:|We used this stay to ideate on a new project, and the hotel was unexpectedly perfect for it:|• Multiple quiet work areas with tables and power outlets.|• A large open space with big tables where we spread out brown paper, used markers, and mapped ideas.|• A central water station with ice-cold and room temperature water on tap. Small detail, but hugely appreciated.|• This hotel is more than just a place to sleep, it’s a space to think.||Room & vibe:|Room 544 was clean, quiet, and well-furnished. The hotel had a calm but energizing vibe that matched the purpose of our stay. Even with bad weather, we didn’t feel the need to leave, it was cozy and productive.||Areas for improvement:|• TV setup: The in-room TV’s weren’t smart TVs, so we couldn’t stream Netflix or connect via apps. There was an HDMI port, but it’s a limitation worth knowing if you plan a movie night.|• Restaurant layout & furniture: The two-person round tables are too small for comfort, especially if you want to combine snacks with work. More lower chairs would be a welcome upgrade.|• Breakfast could be improved: especially the warm dishes, which felt a bit underwhelming in both taste and quality. For guests following a low-carb diet, the options were quite limited and slightly disappointing.|• No airco: It wasn’t hot during our stay, but on warmer days, the absence of air conditioning might be an issue.||What we didn’t get to do:|Sadly, we didn’t try the wellness area, simply because we ran out of time. It looked promising, something for next time.||Pro tip:|• Use the central lounge area for brainstorming or solo work – especially the large tables.|• Don’t miss the carpaccio, and make use of the self-service water unit. It’s oddly satisfying.||Summary: A hotel that combines thoughtful design, outstanding staff, and great food with enough flexibility to support both relaxation and deep focus. Whether you're travelling for business, creativity, or just need a place to breathe and recharge: this is your spot.|We’ll be back.
