Western Beach Lodge

I stayed here on and off from 1993 to 1998. Stoked its still in business. Man did we ever party there back in the day. Kaz was the name of the owner. Legend.

I had this hostel booked 3 weeks in advance. Hostelworld emailed me 24 hours prior to my arrival date stating that I had cancellation the booking and to ring the hostel if I had any queries. I rang up the hostel and explained that I had not cancel the booking and stated this was an error. The receptionist (Mark) said straight away that this was a booking error done by hostelworld. He did not check up my booking or even ask for my name. When I tried to resolve the booking and ask about my deposit he hung up the phone. I have been travelling for a year and a half and understand the pressures hostel workers face but this was the rudest encounter I have faced. This was made worse that it was cancelled 24 hours before my booking when I booked it 3 weeks in advanced because all other hostels were now booked out and the only accommodation available was expensive. Do not book this hostel.

Western beach lodge is by far and away the best hostel I have stayed in Australia. Arrived there 6 months ago with the intention of a quick stay whilst finding my own property around the area but the place became a home away from home almost instantaneously. The hostel had more of a share house vibe where everyone gets to know one another quickly, and I met the best people imaginable who became a family. Furthermore the owner Mark is absolutely top, cared about his guests and always had time for a chat, as well as helping you find work as and when you may need it. I never had a problem getting a good nights sleep (had to be up at 5am every morning for work), and all the facilities were regularly cleaned and superbly maintained. I couldn’t recommend the hostel highly enough and I was absolutely gutted to finally leave today, but I will be back! Thank you Mark and everyone I met along the way!

I had an awful experience at this hostel. I booked two weeks in advance and on the day of arrival was told there was no beds for me. I had to seek other accommodation until I could get a bed the next day. Then the First night stay I woke up with multiple insect bites as they leave windows open with no fly nets at night. Rooms are not clean at all and the air conditioning was barely working. I had to leave because when I arrived back on my second day there was a cat in my bed. Had difficulty with getting a refund with owner as I had paid for a full week and could not stay there any longer. Could only pay in cash on arrival and the owner was not pleasant at all. I read reviews before choosing this hostel and now know most of them are fake. Also it is way over priced compared to nicer hostels in Perth City. Would not recommend.

Do not book with them. Got an email saying my reservation was cancelled the day before. I called up saying that I did not cancel in which they replied saying that I did not respond to an email saying that I was coming. No email was sent to me about regarding this. Absolutely ridiculous. My partner and I had to quickly find accomodation the day before. If you book accomodation you should feel assured that it is confirmed. No communication was had and they cancelled.

We booked for 4 nights and we stayed for 6 months. It's the best hostel that I've ever stayed in, the people are very friendly, the owner is always trying to help you so you really feel the support from everyone. The location is perfect if you don't have a car because everything is walking distance. Always kept very clean and cozy. People always stay for longer because it really feels like a home away from home.

Stayed at this hostel in January. Great spot close to the beach. Hostel has a warm atmosphere and is laid back. Good vibes all round and met some awesome people. The hostel owner is nice guy, I was in need of work and he found some shifts for me! Would reccomend👍

I'm travelling for 3 years now, and this is absolutely one of my favourite hostels. It's a small, homy place with great vibes just 5 minutes walk from the beach. If you want to meet great people, go here! Stayed 3 months and absolutely loved it!

Good hostel, good location. However, few problems which was disappointing given the amount of money we paid for our room.
