Best part of this station is Metro's station manager and attendant, Cole, who warmly greets customers in the morning and assists customers with paying fares and general way-finding. Having Cole at Westwood Rancho Park Station is indeed an improvement to customer service.
Metro should consider maintaining station managers and/or attendants at every station throughout the day. Station attendants such as Cole are not only useful to customers finding their way, but they become full of knowledge of the actual use of the station that could be useful to Metro such as the natural customer circulation patterns around the station.
Besides, having a nice human being at the stations, adds a personal touch - an great notch up in customer experience! Kudos to Metro!
Nice touch at the station - On a warm late-summer morning, a pleasant breeze brings a scent of California coastal sage brush through the platform area.
Tips:
1 - To get here, take Big Blue Bus routes 8 (stops at nearly all) or route R12 (stops at big intersections only). TAP passes accepted.
Fifth star will be added when:
1 - a convenience shop is located nearby (within a sprinting distance to platform) to buy a small coffee or magazine in the unfortunate but likely event of a lengthy train delay;
2 - when connecting bus arrivals along Westwood Blvd. are so frequent that disappointment for lengthy public transit trip or train delay is mitigated by no wait time for a bus or the possibility of taking a short bus ride to shops on Pico/Westwood;
3 - circulation into station is improved with entrances from Overland Ave. side of the station as well.
